Yesterday, my little son formatted my Samsung Galaxy phone as he was playing with it. All my saved pictures, contacts, text messages and other files on the inner memory card were gone. So, I am wondering whether there is a way for me to get them back. Do you know any way to help me get them back? Any idea can be appreciated! Please, help me!

OK! Don’t worry! In this technological era, the accidental formatting problem cannot be a big deal. The deleted files often can be easily restored with the help of a data recovery program.
So, in your case, I hope you can act carefully to restore all your wanted files back as below:
1. Stop using the Samsung phone right now in case that any new file on it may overwrite your original data.
2. Plunge this phone to you computer so that you can begin to retrieve your data.
3. Download a phone data recovery program to retrieve all your lost data back.
Nowadays, there are plenty of data recovery programs available online. But, not all of them can work as efficiently as you think. So, you should select a most proper one for your data after doing much searching.
But, if you still doubt, you can firstly take chances with some phone data recovery freeware that work much more efficiently than some paid ones, such as Recuva, TestDisk and iCare Data Recovery Free, etc.
4. Do not save or back up all the restored data on the same phone in case of any data loss.
In the future, you should learn a lesson to be more careful about your data and always back it up well.

5. Forget the technological era... Honestly, you are ****ed... If you do find a software that recovers the data... Let me know... Try google + (for pictures) this time around... At least pictures will not be lost the next time. Also always try to configure apps to save data on sdcard instead of internal memory. Take care...

Always R-Studio was saved my ass in many catastrophes that happened to me, as previous said you only need not to use the phone until you are rdy with the program in a pc and then plug it and try to recover. I wish you luck m8

Bought a 2nd hand Compact and was trying to back up my contacts to permanent storage in case I'm away and the battery dies. Checked all the boxes and all that happened is a load of contacts (hundreds) from obviously the previos owners backup spewed out and it took me like an hour to remove them all. This guy had contacts in every country in the damn world !
Is it possible to erase his contacts he has stored, obviously if I want to restore in the future I don't want his.
How can I make it save mine instead of restoring his ?

I think that when you turn permanent storage off and then back on, it overwrites the permanant storage contents with the current RAM contents.
If it works the same as on Himalaya you have to do more than just tigling the check-boxes:
Uncheck all boxes
Move the '#flashman.lnk' files (the # stands for A, C, N, T) from \windows\startup . Note that the name varies between devices/Windows versions, but should refer to 'flash' or 'permanent'. (need RESCO Explorer for this)
Soft reset
Delete the PerSaveBackup folder from 'Storage'
Move the '#flashman.lnk' files back to \windows\startup
Soft reset
Check all appropiate boxes
Youre done

Dunno, have no idea how to do either of these things.
I'd say get Sprite Backup. It's easy to use & backups\restores only your pim dara (& more).
I had a rom-upgrade & before it I used perm.save, tried it again after reading your post & can't find any old data. An upgrade probably wipes the data, take a good look at the rom-layout in the wiki, maybe it explains whether my theory is correct.
perm.save claimed that all data was removed after unchecking the boxes, difficult to find out without hard-reset, which I'm unwilling to do at the moment.

Permanent save works very good, and youll never miss a contact/apointment or whatever. It is a good addition to backups.
It is a pain in the ass when the storage gets corrupted (which happened to several people.

My Touch HD keeps freezing or just going extra extra slow and sometimes wont openn various things - then when I look at it half an hour later everythings open!
Anyhoo it's being sent off tomorrow under the warranty to be fixed. How do I make sure all my music, pictures, videos, contacts etc are all saved to the sim or memory before they get wiped?
My phone wont link via the USB to the laptop and my laptop doesn't have bluetooth (oldschool!)
Can someone please give me an idiots guide how to not lose all my stuff?!

Aside from contacts and their phone numbers, you can't really save anything else to the SIM as its capacity is extremely small. You'll have to get a program like PIM backup which will let you back everything up (contacts/texts/emails/music). Another way to do this is to download microsoft's myPhone (which is free) which will upload everything to a microsoft server and then you can download it all back to your phone. However if you have alot of large files (like ton of music) this will take a while so make sure you do it over wifi.

Have you tried a soft reset on the phone?
As said, Pim backup will do all you want, or get Sprite backup as well.
highly recomend PIM Backup
will back up will do everything you need but may be slow to backup your music and videos.
I would use total commander to search your my documents folder on the phone and copy across to the memory card.

Back Up - I use Sunnysoft Backup Manager (currently ver 4.0.0.2, build 07131)
This will back up any or all of your device based files together with any files on memory cards if you wish. I back up my phone to the resident SD card. Periodically I back up my SD card to my desktop.
The software works fine on the Touch HD. I used it after I had upgraded to the latest rom update. It must have saved me hours. It's a great comfort if something go wrong. The software keeps an executable file on the SD card, so you just need to run that to restore everything after a hard reset. Worth every penny.

I wanted some help regarding this issue. I had recorded my teachers lessons so that I could go over them afterwards. I used the voice recording app on my S4.
I did a factory data reset and I completely forgot to back up or transfer the files does anyone know of a way to retrieve them?

I don't think there is a way to get your data back. But to stop this from ever happening again, I think there are features that allow you to save records, pictures, and videos onto your external SD cards, which you don't have to ever have to wipe.

It becomes important to format the device sometimes just to free up some space on phone. But before it is also important to backup every data from it but some people don't do it and later on they found themselves in a annoying situation because their essential data like voice recordings are missing. They atually don't know what to do and how to get them back.
But there is nothing to worry because still you have a chance to get back the voice recordings after factory reset.

Hello all.....I am trying to recover deleted text messages, pic/vid messages on my stock Samsung Galaxy S5, G-900A, running android 5.0 (lollipop). I have tried to utilize a few different android data recovery systems but all have failed in locating any of the deleted messages---likely because root access is required? I have looked everywhere and am under the impression that this particular phone still cannot be rooted due to the AT&T locked boot loader. I also understand that these types of deleted msg files can be overwritten with extend use after initial deletion, however, I am only concerned with messages to and from one particular person, and there hasn't been much use on the phone since they were deleted anyway. This was one of my company phones used by an employee and it is important that I recover these messages. In my conversations with the AT&T Legal Department I was informed that even with court ordered subpoena they do not have the actual messages to provide because they are "deleted from their servers within a few days", but they were able to provide me with the actual data/message/call logs---which doesn't really help me with the issue. I know that there has to be some way or method to locate and recover these messages-----PLEASE HELP------Thank you in advance.
Additionally, I would like to add that I am not at all concerned with any future functionability of this phone, not sure if that even matters---just thought maybe if there are any important apps/programs/functions were modified or deleted to gain access to these messages I am absolutely willing.
Also, is there any way to copy or save the phones hard drive to my computer and access these messages/files through another function on my laptop????
It's unlikely you can recover them, one thing you can try is imaging the phone as you mentioned though, I only know how you could do it in linux though so I'm not sure how much use that will be to you.

Thank you very much.....Im not exactly sure what protocol is on this but I'm wondering if I could hire you or anyone else who might be interested to scan and locate these messages for me? I see that you live in houston, as do I; if it is possible to find these messages thru linux I certainly couldn't do it as I have no experience with that program/software.

Seems you might have less luck than I thought :/ this is what I could find about finding the messages https://cmanios.wordpress.com/2013/10/29/read-sms-directly-from-sqlite-database-in-android/ to get deleted ones though you'd have to recover the old db, which would be hard to do in and of itself with flash memory, and you'd be lucky to get anything out of what would likely be a partial database file, and that would be hard to read. On top of that, to get an image of anything, even unrooted user readable partitions(internal sd card) you need root, because the command can only be run from the phone it seems, since the phone is presently on 5.0 it's not possible to root it, so your chances are slim to none since no data recovery tool app on the phone would go to the location of the message db file, even if it did it would need root, and even then, to image the phone as far as I can tell also requires root. The only thing I can think of is removing the internal sd card, the ifixit teardown covers this kind of, the card isn't a standard microsd, so finding a way to mount it would be trivial(possibly re-soldering it to a usb?) , if you managed that though, then you might have a chance at attempting data recovery which as I mentioned earlier is already going to be 50/50. I sure do appreciate all of your help and consideration......i sure wish there was some other/easier way to accomplish this...however, i have been able to put the micro-sd card into a larger converter card thing and view on my macbook pro---although there are many many empty folders when i try to access them. Is there a particular file reader that i could download on laptop that would show any invisible files and allow me to view them? Sorry for the amateur questions....thanks again for your help.

The microsd card from the phone does not have any text messages as far as I know, won't help to look at that, you need the internal one used by the phone which is a soldered to the board.

In fact , the lost Samsung can be recovered back depends on whether the messages is completely deleted from Samsung ,you can restore deleted messages from Samsung from Samsung SD card ,or Samsung Memory card ,In addition, the program is also apply to almost all Android devices, including HTC, LG, Sony, Motolora, Google and so on. I tried several recovery programs however they could recover various stuff but not the Gallery folder or its contents (approx. 2000 photos)
Some of the software said I needed to root my phone which I did and then ran recovery again, but none of them found anything.
Doing more research, I am trying to go down the route of extracting the RAW data from the phone to look at it that way using ADB but I am pretty much stuck trying to find the folder or data in the phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Or should i resign myself to the fact I have lost my photos and put it down to my error?

I have faced similar situations earlier, but everytime I have managed to recover atleast 70% of the images using the following apps.
* DiskDigger (by Defiant Tech)
* Undeleter Recover Files & Data (By Fahrbot PRI)
These two apps are far best (as per my experience) to get the job done.

I will also vouch on these I have used them to recover some photos before the key here is to quit using the device as soon as possible so those data locations of the pictures are not over wrote.If it is soon enough they still may be there,Under the marked for deletion state

Hi OP - How did this work out for you? Also I am in the exact same situation but I do not have my device rooted.. Any advice on a solid guide to root my device? Were/are you able to unroot the device later?
