[Q] Unlocking issues! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Long story short, I have an AT&T S4 (SGH-I337). I have checked the IMEI online and found that it is not blacklisted.
Signed up for a MetroPCS account (as I have heard they partnered with T-Mobile)
Purchased unlock code from ebay, got it this morning, entered it and it worked
Tried flashing AWS band using QPST (made backup first), rebooted phone, got the message:
"Attention - Phone not allowed MM#6"
Restored QCN from before, rebooted, same message
Why can't my unlocked phone join the network?!

Are you on the MF3 firmware on your S4? If you are then you have to read on alternative methods to unlocking on MF3. Also, from my understanding, any of the methods to unlock involving the native phone dialer will only work on the stock ROM for the device.
These may be one of your problems here.

[Q] Blocked from AT&T after international travel

I have read through this forum for hours and in no way savvy with this stuff; I have learnt a lot so thank you but please help me.
I just don't know how to tell what the problem is with my phone therefore i don't know which of the 100s of solutions here to apply.
its a S4 i337 previously used on AT&T LTE network, I traveled overseas and used other country's sim card for a short time after giving it to service provider to program. i believe phone was rooted and settings changed for this to happen, though i did not do them or know what they did.
I returned to U.S. and reinserted AT&T sim, made one call, but phone seems to trigger anti theft or network suspend right after. I have had it unlocked twice by AT&T but first use thereafter seems to reblock me out of their network and i get message that this device is blocked from network use. When I call they say phone shows stolen and i repeat process above only to get reblocked again.
I don't know if it is APN settings, previous rooting or what that is causing this? I found an app called SuperSU on the phone, i clicked on its settings and clicked "full unroot" which made app icon disappear but can't tell if I am really unrooted or not. I have also done factory reset and lost everything already, I just want phone to work back on AT&T network as before.
Android version 4.2.2
baseband I337UCUAMF3
please help me… i am not sure if i need to reroot, delete binary counter, flash with files???? i have read some about odin files, don't know what is the latest and which sources are safe…just confused all around.
please someone tell me where to start
please tell me where to start? do i need safestrap?

Take it to a best buy Samsung service counter and have them reflash the firmware or update it to MK2. Wipe everything (including internal and external SD card) Then, call att to unblock it again. If it relocks, then go back to the Samsung service counter, tell them the issue and see if they can restore your efs for you from a backup. If they can, do it and then unblock it.
If after all this it relocks, its not your device. Its att who are at fault. Then all you can do is to yell at them.
EDIT:
Another possibility is that the ppl who unlocked your phone overseas stole your imei number and used it to revive a blocked stolen phone. In that case your imei is in an international stolen imei database and you are probably out of luck.

Interesting. If the IMEI was stolen, what would the phone show? Would they clone the IMEI (so it would show the same IMEI) or would it come up as UNKNOWN or blank or something. Reason I am asking is that I've been try to fix an issue with my father-in-law's phone that completely lost the ability to connect to wifi/data after having his S4 "unlocked" in Vietnam to use a local SIM there. Tried may reflashes with MK2 and custom TW ROM's but none work with wifi anymore (data works ok).
If data and calling works then the imei is fine. Its some other issue..

All is speculation but there is a small posibility that when you gave your phone that person gave you another phone which indeed was stolen. Your best bet is to go to the samsung guys right now or learning how to restock your phone. You tube search videos How To Unroot & Unbrick Samsung Galaxy S4
so its been a few days now with no service. it turns out my phone has somehow been programmed with a different imei that comes up as stolen according to at&t. so the theory of my imei having been stolen is pretty possible. every time i have the phone unblocked from the network, one phone call or message causes it to trigger the stolen phone alert and kick me out the at&t network. i have been to the at&t store with my device and the original packaging that shows my original and correct imei but the one that the phone is registering on screen does not match what is on my actual handset sticker and original packaging. the phone never left my sight the entire trip so i am 100% positive my handset was never switched, if anything it was reprogrammed with the stolen imei and they stole mine which is now working fine out there for some crook
i just can't believe that at&t can't verify my original imei that came with the phone i bought from them and just reprogram my phone and get my service going again. its looking like i will need to find a way to recover my imei myself. although i just got the 4.4.2 update that force placed itself on my zero service phone. hope this post helps to alert others to be careful of this type of thing.
Wow! what country did u visit?
If your s4 had insurance I would report the phone as stolen and give the original Imei to be blacklisted and try to get a new phone.

[Q] How can I repair my IMEI on i9301i?

Hello folks,
I've read A LOT of threads here at the forum about repairing/recovering IMEI, but none specifically for the S3 Neo (GT-i9301i). Here is what happened with my cell: I bought it in the UK, brought it back to Brazil, and noticed that it was network locked (I did the region unlock while in Europe). Tried to unlock it by myself, rooted the device with ChainFire, but later, in order to send it to be unlocked in a local store, flashed the original stock ROM. The phone is unlocked now, but without the IMEI! When I hit the *#06#, it shows only the / ** numbers, the whole 15 digit number is now gone.
I have a backup from my efs folder that I did before sending the phone to the store, I installed GalaxS Unlock and did the backup. But when I access the backup, it doesn't have the .nv_data.bin and .nv_data.bin.md5 that every tutorial asks me to use it in the process. I tried the method of deleting my efs folder and restarting the phone, but that didn't worked either.
Is there something I can do to repair my phone?
Thanks

MY imei is different from my original S5

ok here is my problem
i have Samsung s5 from rogers
i when to Ghana so i wanted to use my phone there but it was lock so
took it to some guy to unlock it and it worked ok
when i came back and inserted my old sim
i get not registered to network and my imei is different from the box
i have tried flashing it with stock rom but still getting the same message
any body had this problem and how it they get it working
thanks
Unless you have made a backup of your original cert files nothing can be done, the shop in Ghana most likely used an IMEI from another handset and wrote it yours during the process this also unlocks your handset afaik .

How to unlock without the device unlock app?

Hi All - I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S8 from someone else. It worked fine when I was with T-mobile but when I moved to another network and popped in a new SIM, it asked me to "Enter network unlock code". I figured it must be locked to T-mobile so I reached out to them. They said my account met all the unlock criteria and said they'll send me instructions via email. I got the email two days later saying I need to use the "Device Unlock App". However, there's no such app on phone and there's no way to install it either (its not in the Play Store). I went back to T-mobile and they said since the device wasn't purchased through T-mobile, its not be a T-mobile "branded" phone. My questions are:
1. If its not a T-mobile branded phone, why does it only work on the T-mobile network? I checked its not rooted. It doesn't have any T-mobile apps and doesn't show any splash screen with the T-mobile logo.
2. Someone said that Samsung GS8 locks to the network of the first SIM you put into an unlocked phone. Is that true?
3. T-mobile says they've "whitelisted" my IMEI, so if I can somehow get the Device Unlock app I may be able to unlock it. Any idea how I can do that? Do I need to flash the firmware and install the T-mobile version or is there another way.
Thanks!
If you need to app, you can try here: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14011
However, as your phone is asking for the unlock code, the app might work but not unlock your phone.
You really need to do a network check and see which network is your phone actually locked. If your phone needs unlocking code, you might need factory level codes.
I think you should visit :

3g/4g doesn't work on Samsung On5 SM-G550T1 MetroPCS

This device was bought outside India (I'll ask my friend which country if that's necessary). It was probably bought with MetroPCS sim. Now when I insert Indian sim I can only connect to 2g network, when I chose 3g I lose connection to the network.
So I figured this device is locked. There was this app provided by MetroPCS that provided a way to permanently unlock. I checked their site and it's stated that if your device meets all requirements (use their sim for 180 consecutive days etc) then your device will be unlocked for free. I tried unlocking through t that app and it was successful which means my device was eligible. It still didn't work.
So then I thought maybe changing ROM will solve this issue so installed TWRP and flashed custom ROM. Still nothing changed.
That made me think it's locked due to my imei. I was left with no option but to change my device's imei (I know it's illegal but I wasn't trying to change it to some random imei to hide identity or evading ban from MetroPCS) so I rooted it and tried Xposed framework. When I finally installed Xposed and got this module to work, i was still unable to access 3g/4g.
I've tried everything I could think of and still couldn't get it to work. Please please please help me, I am exhausted.

Your radio/modem probably needs to be changed from one for the US, if that's where your phone was bought, to the one for India so that you'll be using the correct baseband. Search for a flashable one from one of the threads for the Indian variant. That would be my next try anyway.
