Whenever my iPad is connected to the WiFi network at home, my nexus 4 connects to WiFi but cannot use the internet. Any explanations?

Weird. I have 1iPad, 1iPhone, 3 laptops, 1 ps3, 3 tablets, 4 smart phones combined between 2 homes with 1 router and never had this issue. All can be running together or simultaneously, no issues.

I have an iPad 4.
Whenever it is connected and I connect my phone, the WiFi connects but I cannot use the internet.
I disconnect the iPad and then reconnect my phone and viola!it works... Any ideas why?
A workaround I found is that if I connect my phone first and iPad after that then both work, but not the other way round.
This problem is only with my nexus.
My galaxy s2(2 of them) and note, along with three laptops connect just fine. Its just my nexus which can't access the internet

Galaxy Note disrupts connection with Wireless router and Desktop computer

Hello
This just started today after 1 day after I bought my Galaxy Note. Sometimes I'm on Wi-Fi on the Note and I'm on my desktop computer, my computer connection to the internet gets disconnected. The WiFi on the phone still works, but I can't visit any websites anymore.
I just received a call and talked for a minute, then my computer connection didn't work for a minute as I tried to load up different websites. Now it's back on. I find this strange. I tried two different routers as well (Cisco and Linksys). Both of them experienced this issue. I tried different ethernet cables as well.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting I need to change on the Galaxy Note? I'm new to Android.
I guess the problem is on your router / modem. I haven't heard of a similar problem before.

I have a similar problem on the phone sometimes. WiFi signal will be activated on the phone with full bars, but the phone is still unable to connect to network or visit any websites. Sometimes I get the message 'could not connect to network'. This problem is intermittent but annoying.

Probably best to set a fixed IP address for each device. I find that solves a lot of problems. Sometimes as devices join and leave (like if WiFi goes off) they take each-others IP addresses, and when re-joining the hookup fails.
Sometime I am facing this issue also. Then only I have to reboot ADSL router. Mine is Netgear.

I remember one crazy incident in the past. I had one pre-sample Acer Android phone and randomly some colleague in the same room wouldn't be able to browse in their laptop. After lots of fiddling around, realized that phone was running DHCP service on its own and it was leasing out different IPs to laptops connected to parent wifi router. (So there were two DHCP servers, one in wifi router, another in android phone and laptops connecting to the wifi router were sometimes getting IP issued by the phone).
News to me and i have a lot of devices connected to my router

Nexus 7 and Connectify

Hey guys,
In my office; I've got a wired ethernet internet connection to my laptop. I'm trying to enable Connectify (making my computer a hotspot) on my Win7 laptop so I can use my Nexus 7 in the office (I don't get great mobile reception otherwise I would just tether from my galaxy nexus).
For some reason, I can connect just fine, but after 10 minutes or so, Connectify drops the connection. It happens to both my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7. I'm ont sure if when the screens shut off it somehow drops and then doesn't come back easily? I need to turn on / off wifi again for the signal to return, then if I don't touch it it drops again in a few moments.
Anyone else experience this? I have to try this at home too, as I wonder if it's perhaps an group permission or policy level thing as well.

[Q] Wifi Hotspot

Has anyone tried connecting the nexus 4 as a wifi hotspot? My phone can load webpages like google, facebook, XDA really fast. But when I have my laptop connected through portable hotspot I can't even get google.com to open up. Sometimes it does but very very slowly, is this normal for wifi hotspots or is it just something with my connection settings?
My Wi-Fi Hotspot from Nexus 4 works perfectly when I connect my Nexus 7, Playbook, and Galaxy Nexus.
WiFi hot spot worked for me also

Hmm i tried it with my playbook too, it works but same issue its much slower then what the phone can accomplish!
It's normal for it to be slower (just consider that all requests need to be routed from your laptop, to your phone via WiFi, then to the cell service) but it certainly should be working without issue. Are you using the built-in WiFi hotspot feature? And what carrier?

Wifi Issues

Hi,
I've had my N4 since a couple of days and have encountered some issues when using the phone on Wifi. I use connectify as a virtual wifi router on my laptop. My phone keeps loosing the data stream from time to time even though the Wifi symbol remain active. I either have to disable/enable the Wifi or restart connectify to get the data stream to work. Any suggestions how to fix this ?
It could be android's fault. I have the same problem on my Galaxy 3. The phone even loses the signal if I'm sitting in front of the router. It's noticeable if the icon shows sending data and occasionally receiving data, but not at the same time.
I have two other PCs in the same room and they don't have this problem so the router is probably fine.
My nexus 4 has great WiFi receptions. I was using the iphone 5 last week and i had issues connecting yo my home WiFi, i think because of some WPA or wep security, the iPhone would connect 2 times out of 10 when i turn on WiFi. It always connects with my nexus 4.

Internet access lost after connecting another router?

I connected an old router of mine to another one via power line adapters to try and boost reception, I set it all up perfectly, my nexus 4 and nexus 7 now enjoy much better internet in my bedroom, however my Windows 8.1 laptop connects to the router but says "no internet access". Any help on how to fix this?

Did you restart the affected laptop? That's usually the problem. Restart the upstream router first and let it come up, then restart each downstream device in order.
If not that, hardwire laptop to last hop in router-chain with Ethernet cable and check connectivity. 2nd: disable wifi encryption and check connectivity. 3rd: Test USB wifi adapter with laptop.
Okay cheers, only problem is the last router only has a single Ethernet which is used by the power line adapter. I've restarted it all, reset both routers, and it seems all windows laptops in my house are affected. Linux is working fine

I finally got it to work by using a different old router, this one is bug free. Thanks for the help anyway man
