I know that in unboxing videos that a package of nibs (as in more than 1 Nib) is included along with tweezers to replace said nib on the GN3 S-Pen. The problem is that Verizon's website says below:
Samsung Galaxy Note® 3 Handset
Included in the box:
Standard Battery
DTA Head/USB Cable
S Pen™
S Pen Accessory (Tweezer & Tip)
Radio Frequency Brochure
Quick Reference Guide
Product Safety & Warranty Brochure
Global Lit Brochure
So if Verizon only gives us 1 friggin spare Nib what the heck are we to do? I looked on Samsung's site to see what they offered for the GN2 and there is nothing there other than a spare S-Pen for $29.99. Until the GN3 actually ships we won't know for sure if Samsung will offer them, but it seems Verizon and possibly other US carriers may go cheap on us.
Plan on goin through a lot of nibs? Lol
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Looking at unboxing videos, it comes with 5 or 6 spare nibs, not just one. But yeah, I do wonder where you'd get them if you ever run out, or lose the spares.
First I expect the note 3 s pen to probably be at least $39.95 & Verizon and other American carriers will probably give the same amount seen in the unboxing video. Don't think Samsung would change for individual carriers but it is Verizon so you never know lol

Why are you freaking out over spare nibs? I doubt you will ever replace one. If you do.. I guarantee they will be all over eBay after phone is released.

First off, I have every right to ask about spare items that are being offered in other carriers packages, and given Verizon's penchant for cheaping out on their customers I am concerned since there seems to be no easy way to buy more IF needed and I don't want to purchase a whole new S-Pen just to get one.
Accidents can happen, damage happens so who cares why I want to know about more, I am simply asking.
Wouldn't it cost more in man hours to go into every single box and take out the spare nibs? What are they going to do waste a bunch of warehouse space with a pile of thousands of nibs? I feel like its a mistake in the description and we will receive the same amount of nibs as other carriers.

The reason I put this thread out there is based on several factors a) Verizon's penchant for screwing its customers over, b) their website says "S-Pen accessory Tweezer and Tip" as in a single tip, 1, uno, not multiple and c) it doesn't appear anywhere that you can actually buy more.
As to man hours to do this, well they have to pack the boxes to begin with and they pull items from a bin don't they. So Verizon's packaging has a single spare "tip" and that's it. So its not man hour, its an assembly line.

I'm sure its just a typo, tweezers are not much use in the singular as they are usually supplied in 'pairs'
wish they didn't do the nibs and tweezers thing lol it's pretty stupid , one more thing to deal with / more unnecessary waste.

I strongly disagree. These things do wear out, albeit slowly, and I expect at least a couple spares for a $700 device.
That said, my T-Mobile one came with 5 nibs and the replacement tool.
If the content is the same everywhere, you get 4 tips and a tweezer.
That's what's in the EU International version, anyway.

Well my GN3 arrives tomorrow and from those who have received their Verizon GN3 already they are saying multiple S-Pen tips in the package, just not how many so that is better.

I just wanted to update you that they are starting to stock Note 2 accessories at Samsung Mobile US and I have the following codes if interested... Just wanted to put this out there again so you can look at a few cases and spare batteries and when I posted this before they did not have ANYTHING for the Note 2 so this might benefit somebody and the code is still working AFAIK so keep checking their site if your in the US.... Let me know if it's still working....? I am going to pick up a case from them right now. I am sure they will be adding things very soon!

20%- sertea
EDIT: Take a look at the gallery pics of these cases... They look pretty nice!!

I just saved 50% ($50) on the allshare cast dongle. Thanks!!!!
I wanted to order a bunch of accessories in advance of me getting the Note, but I have a few questions.
#1 - The charger on page 1 is only a 1A. There is a 2A charger (and several other items) on page 2, but they don't seem to have prices nor can they be added to the cart???
#2 - The first page shows a couple of HDMI cables. I am not sure which is the right one, especially since someone said the pins are reversed now or something???
I really want to do a good order but I want to make sure things are right. ALSO, would like to get some of the stuff on the second page but no price?!?!?!
As far as hdmi goes it will be the one that is compatible with the S3. The S3 and Note II have the same pins if I recall correctly. Stay away from the ones for orginal note and s2.

Just an FYI but when I registered my wife's Galaxy SII last week (over a year old but needed to register it for warranty work) Samsung USA sent me a 50% off coupon for registering my device.

Note 2 has the NFC antenna inside the back cover, not in the battery.
I will definitely be getting the battery/dock when it comes back in stock I bought 2 of them when I got my note 1, might of been a bit overkill but they were $30 each and came with extra charging cables.

Try craigslist. You are not going to find the Note 3 off contract for less than $550-600.
Way too early to get it cheaper. It's a highly anticipated device so everyone is gonna get asking price for it. Like ericdabbs said, try craigslist after its already been released. There will be people who bought it then found it too big for them.
I paid $745 via Verizon website

Perhaps Verizon and Sprint still ESN block and attach to account.
GSM phones block across the board and are only attached to the original account.
I thought with LTE they would do the same. Glad they don't. It's very scummy.

I would say eBay from someone who bought one and decided it was "too big" and was too late in returning it, also check swappa.com
Craigslist always has people who buy the phone at upgrade price and immediately sell for a couple hundred off full retail. They make some easy cash and you save some. Just make sure you meet the seller at a Verizon store to verify not stolen. On a side note if you live in a marginal coverage area you can open a new account and get phone for discount price. Wait 15 days and complain about signal. They let you walk from contract with no charge. Then you just pop your sim in and bingo bango bongo. Im on my parents family plan with unlimited so this worked for me last year.
beamed from transporter room 3
Check Swappa. I'm not sure I'll be keeping my glitch-ordered white 32gb Note 3. I already bought my GS4 at full retail.
Will have to see what my first impressions are...
If you preordered and have already received your S7 or S7 Edge. (At this point I assume that only T-Mobile has started to deliver preorders). The website to submit your Samsung Gear VR offer form is now active. https://promos.samsungpromotions.com/gearvr/en-us/
Keep in mind that you need to have already received your phone because IMEI and MAC address are required. Also have in hand a copy/scan of your purchase receipt.
And if I purchased/preordered online, I would just submit my EIP or what?
I submitted the pdf file of my Jump Of Demand lease agreement. But you can also submit a screenshot of your EIP as long as it shows your name, date of purchase and IMEI (I have done it before).

I had alert set for 9:30am tomorrow so now I don't have to worry about that. lol Thanks! Also I noticed that I think Samsung said free VR when supplies last or something. I know T-Mobile's website says 2/23-3/18. I hope all of those people in that time frame get one. I would think if you ordered in that time frame you should be able to get the promo's. If not going to be a lot of pissed off people. I bet the VR's go on back order. I think they did with the Note 5 Samsung Pay promo. The quicker you get this promo submitted the quicker you'll get your free VR/Netflix a year. I already have a VR and a year free of Netflix. lol
I just registered my Samsung Pay card and got a free Samsung wireless charger. I had 3 wireless chargers already. lol My old Tylt one no longer charges my S7 Edge for some reason. I had no issues with my Note 5. I wish this free one was the new Samsung wireless stand. That's nice but $70 bucks.
Does anyone know if the Verizon Gear S2 offer is for the Bluetooth version or the Verizon 3G Model that you have to pay for monthly? Verizon doesn't have a clear answer for anything. Every person you ask tells you something different.

My Tylt was always flakey with my S6E, but now with the S7E its really flakey. Try upside down or sideways. For an accessory whose main purpose in life is wireless charging, Tylt could have spent a little more effort on increasing the size of its coils.
Until I get the new charger I've actually been using one of the older Samsung tray chargers and the S7E doesn't quite fit in the curved well of the tray. It floats a mm or two above it, suspended by the curved edges. But at least it works reliably.
The Tylt will end up in an electronics recycling bin...

But Samsung needs to realize we the minority are the ones that influence the majority, our family, friends, coworkers. We are the ones they ask before they buy a phone. They'll ask what phone to buy and I'll typically tell them to buy whatever im rocking. Not because it has a unlocked bootloader etc. But because when issues arise they will come to me with there questions and if they go and pick a phone that I didn't recommend they buy in the first place I'm going to let them know I don't know anything about there phone so they need to read the manual. Lol lmao.
I remember when my mom bought her first Android the HTC ARia on At&t and didn't approve. Lol. I sent her to my brother because he also had the phone and he as only a bit more knowledgeable than her. Lol.
It took me a year to get her onto the iPhone, and not because I was not changing to different phones but because iPhones don't change and I could be of off IOS for years and come back and it would still pretty much be the same thing.

I usually tell them to get whatever they want. Fit the device and the users technical knowledge together. I got my parents onto the iPhone as well. Some people have a habit of clicking on anything, and approving anything on their desktop/laptop(even though I've taught them what to look out for). With the iPhone...NOPE! haha! I hope Apple will never change. I hope their interface stays like that for years to come. For savvy users like us, there's Android.
With the development of Android advancing, technology advancing, I only see it getting tougher for us, the minority, to gain root to some devices. It's all about securing the financial endeavors of these corporations. Security is a major priority these days.
I tip my hat to the devs that spend their precious time to break the security these manufacturers/carriers put on our devices. I appreciate them very much.
Personally I hope they come to their senses and bring back easy user access to battery. This whole fiasco would be so much easier to deal with: mail me new battery (about $10 cost), collect faulty ones, done and forgot. Here whole phone needs to be replaced, at least few hours for user to restore settings, programs, data. My only major complain about N7 from the beginning. They were thinking sealed battery will not allow people to put 3rd party unapproved, "unsafe", batteries, extra revenue stream from service centers replacing older batteries wouldn't hurt, but look how the things turn out in reality. And the phone can be waterproof and still have accessible battery, S5 is.
As far as redemption, they already did, by promising everybody new phone at huge cost. N7 had root, week after release, bootloader locked or not, so not sure I care about it that much? What they should have is developer version fully unlocked for those who care. Actually here is the idea: Get all those recalled N7, refurbish them and sell fully unlocked, might bring new customers.

Remove the block they put in place to adoptable storage, that would please me lots! Maybe they'll rethink this when Apple releases that iPhone seven with 256 gigs of internal storage! There have been leaked screenshots of the box indicting this. You know they do so many things as a knee jerk reaction to Apple! Imagine what that would cost Apple users!!!! What has sealed battery to do with future? Because Apple started doing it? There were sealed batteries long before, there will be replaceable batteries in the future. If you want to talk about future, talk about no batteries at all, but that's still many years out.
If $1 billion lesson is not convincing enough for Samsung, what do I care.

It's a give and take situation. You do realize why they sealed the device right? To get the Waterproofing cert. If they allowed a removable battery then they couldn't do that at this level of cert. So it was Seal it and get waterproofing or replaceable battery. I prefer the replaceable battery as I never have had an issue with water damage but it's understandable why it happened.

I think some started sealing batteries way before waterproofing. It is cheaper to seal batteries during production and sealed batteries are cheaper to make (don't need strong walls). Also puts short expiration date on the phone, batteries won't last much past 2 years of daily use, forcing people to upgrade, or send for service, want it or not. Convince customers that your cost cutting measures are features (not talking about Samsung only here) and all is good. BTW sealed battery is not a deal breaker for me, but negative never the less. Going back on topic, we get $25 credit/gift card for exchange and get to keep old charger/ usb-c cable, India gets free VR gear for delayed launch.

All additional good points. There is not one singular reason. But, any decision that incentivises a company to get there customers to buy the next best thing design wise as you pointed out is always a business decision they will make. You're right it's completely a method of indirect control and convincing users it's "a feature" is a pacifying tactic.
Personally I think for redemption they should send us the updated Note 7 that is rumored to have 6gb of ram and 128gb of storage. Either that or the mentioned free updated GearVR, since for those that aren't brave enough to hold the Samsung Scorcher in their hands, their release is basically delayed as well.
Granted, I already got the free 256gb Micro SD card, which I think sells normally for 200 USD on Amazon.
Bad news for Samsung keeps on coming
AT&T will allow any of its customers with replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices to swap them out for a different smartphone, the company tells The Verge. The move follows Sprint's decision to let its customers return replacement Note 7s for a device from a different manufacturer on the heels of a replacement Note 7 catching fire on a plane earlier this week. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has opened an investigation into the fire.
At this rate it's likely that Verizon and T-Mobile won't be too far behind in offering to swap out replacement Note 7 devices. With the uncertainty around the safety of the Note 7, offering a full exchange is the easiest way to ease the worries of consumers until the CPSC completes its investigation. If you're an AT&T or Sprint customer, you can take your replacement Note 7 back to the carriers' respective retail stores and exchange the devices for another smartphone of your choosing.

Interesting. Not sure what i would do. So far i am enjoying my replacement note 7. If it comes to it i guess i will have to make a decision but i need more info before making that move. Its a shame, Samsung makes good stuff, its unfortunate they are having these issues. We shall see

If the pixel lured me more I would be all over this but it's just meh. Only reason would be for the software and to be honest. touchwiz isn't as bad as I remember it...this is coming from a nexus guy.
I just called AT&T and none of the Reps seem to know anything about this so called return hmmm.

Yeah I also called. The rep put me on hold to do some research on it and read it . It's something all reps doesn't know about yet. You have to the end of the month to do so. I have the option to switch it out to another device or just return it for a free refund. He made sure that was stated on my account for me to not have problems.

Yep, it's probably craziness in the near future for us, all over again. All four carriers are allowing an exchange now, Ihttps://www.google.com/amp/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/circuitbreaker/2016/10/7/13202250/att-samsung-galaxy-note-7-replacement-exchange
I don't see a future with note 7 in hand. I do love the phone., hope it's not recalled again but its not looking good.
At leaset in the next few weeks we will have a few more phone choices...... unlike last month. I am thinking of.jumping to the V20 if a 2nd recall happens
This really sucks because I've fallen in love with my Note 7. There's not even any other phone on AT&T that I would get with the exception of the S7 edge. I'm really hoping this guy turns out to be a scam artist.

Carriers must know something we don't... I think if there was any chance of this being fake they wouldn't have reacted this way so quickly. I think they know something we don't.

I know. I might jump ship. The carrier's have to know something. Since when does AT&T reach out to Android Central to tell them they are also on board with the device turn in.
I feel there is little choice but to change. It's only a matter of time before the next report of a burning replacement and good luck selling this second hand in the future . I will try the v20. I wish I had kept my Note5 and not lost $350 on selling it.

I've been thinking the same thing all day. A CSPC official said in an article that if the phone was a replacement one that there will more than likely be another recall.

and here i am completely unable to even buy a note 7. AT&T keeps telling me no since i opted for the refund instead of a loaner phone. I fumed so much over that.
Not even sure which phone to go with. The Note 7 was the only phone that checked all the boxes. I sold my S7 Edge to get it, and I am not going to go buy another one.
-big screen
-water resistance
-expandable storage
-fast charging
-no on screen buttons
Not necessarily guys, relax. They may be doing this just to cover their own ass. I would like to believe that if anything real serious was known an announcement would be made my Samsung.
We shall see i the days to come. Samsung reacted quickly the 1st time, lets see what happens

I just hope the v20 has a good screen.

I just feel this phone will be at the bottom.of the pile like a non flagship budget. For cases, accessories, updates ect... . Not many people are on board with the note 7, if there is no recall not many will be on board with all the bad press. So why would anyone put any effort or invest money/more products into the note 7. Speaking. Of, we will surely not see a functional.curved glass SP. In my line of work tempered sp is a must. One reason why I may go v20, same.screen real estate as the note 7 but not curved so SP will actually stay on.
The note 7 and bogo deal was the only reason I upgraded and added a phone to my plan. Samsung had no other device I want so now I may get screwed out of the bogo and have to pay more each month than I had originally planned and I can't take back my note 5 now, which I gave to our functioning disabled son
Its absolutely tragic that this is happening. I really wanted this device to be my go to for the next couple of years. Its my first phone since the Note 4 was released and its a beast! I guess in the race to create a flagship like this Samsung has finally cut too many corners. It seems to me that the inherent design of the battery and the chassis just aren't optimal. They should have spent a bit more time on the battery enclosure and possibly reduced the battery capacity slightly to compensate for the tight tolerances. Im not even really sure that would have done anything to help. But anyhow, I think the rest of the community will probably feel the pain. I have already started looking at other devices, leaning (for the first time in 8 years) towards another iPhone. Or I can go to the Pixel xl. Everything other than the Note 7 released this year has been such a let down though.

I'm in the exact position bro. Wow off topic but I just took my phone in the shower with me and obviously it got soaked and now the loud speaker sounds all distorted...

For sure! Yikes, I believe that steam and heat actually causes the rubber seals to loosen a bit. Its one of the only ways that you can actually get water damage on these devices other than taking them too deep in the water. Sorry bud, Im sure you can still give it back though when/if you decide too. lol
So it's not normal for the loudspeaker to sound like crap after? It seems like it's back to normal now.
