How to quick launch apps from notification - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i am stock rooted in my n4 because I was too tired of lots of bugs in custom Roms. Now I am making my phone as useful as a phone with custom ROM. Now I want to have some apps in notification so i can open anywhere. I use power toggles but there is a lot of delay when you press the app and it opens. Is like 2 seconds.
I want like this screenshot. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Galaxy S3 Toolbar Widget - Configurable?

Hey everyone!
Does anyone know if the toolbar widget (the wifi/gps/etc toggle buttons in the dropdown menu) that comes with SGS3 stock rom is configurable?
I'd like to change which buttons are there, and the order of them, but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the settings.
I tried searching for it in the forums and on google without success. Also, I'm hoping I'm posting in the right forum. If I'm not, feel free to move it.
Thanks!
It can't be customized via the stock interface. We'll have to wait for custom roms :/
It would be also nice to change the apps shown in the notification area when earphones are plugged in.

Tablet Mode on 4.2.1?

Hi!
I want Tablet Mode on my Stock Nexus 7, but the Tablet-Mode-Patch is for the oldest Stock ROM. Does it still work with 4.2.1? Cuz I dont like DPI Change...
Its rooted
It seems that the patch still work on 4.2.1 according to the folloing post. (sorry, I'm still on custom rom based on 4.1.2.)

kodiak, how did u deodex it?
You don't need to deodex. Grab the 4.2.1-TabletUI.zip from the following link (Post 912) and apply in recovery. Laucher is messed up but Nova Launcher free works great.

you could also install paranoid android, where you can choose which layout (phone, phablet, tablet...) you wish to use, you can even set layouts for individual apps or app groups (e.g. Launcher + google mail in tablet mode, other apps stay phablet)

I am currently running paranoid androids latet rom, and the main thing I'm struggling with is that the 3 buttons (back, home, and the 3rd button that brings up recent apps) are centered, when I want them on the let side. Does the patch fix that?
Also, is there a way to remove the lock screen tiles? I think I saw other threads saying that this change was related to the lawsuit but didn't find anything that allows you to take those off. At the very least I'd want to change the font if I have to keep it.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Yes the tablet patch takes the 2 seperate nav bar and task bar and puts them to the bottom like they should be imho.
I dont even run the lock screen so I cant answer that question.

In Paranoid settings, change the UI to Tablet UI (mid) and you'll have the navigation bar buttons to the left hand side like you want.
Also, the way to get rid of the lockscreen tiles is to install Lockscreen Policy.

Customizing?

Hey all, I unlocked/rooted my phone and I'm wondering if there's anyway to customize which settings are in the notification bar? I'm hesitant to install a new rom because the stock rom has been solid, and I had less than stellar results on past android devices when using custom roms (random fc's, slowdowns, etc, even with CM).
Anyway, I basically want a quick flashlight toggle, and maybe put a few more quick settings options in there. Would it require a new rom?

Thanks, another question... what about customizing the unlock screen? Like dragging the slider up opens voice search and left opens camera?:good:
Install battery widget reborn, it has nice notification area, with flashlight, wifi settings, bluetooth, data sync, pretty much everything you have in quick settings

I'm pretty sure that it would require a ROM to put it on the lock ring but there's a camera lockscreen widget and you can touch and hold the nav bar on the lock screen to get search

OP, this is a Nexus. You won't find more functional ROMs. Just pick one and flash it.

Turn off Default SMS & Call Widget on Lock Screen

I do like the stock 4.3. Its much smoother compared to 4.2.1.
But what I don't like is the default SMS widget that shows up on the locks screen when we receive an SMS.
Same goes for Miss Calls.
The sms is displayed on the screen itself, so basically anybody could read the sms as it arrives (I dont like putting lock).
I know, there is a setting to disable sms display but that will turn off the displaying of the message on notification bar aswell.
So is there any way to turn off that widget ? I couldn't find any yet.
Infact, this whole lock screen widget thing is not so cool because, as per my experience, if I put widgets, the phone takes up a while (1-2 secs) to wake up.

if your on a rooted device, then probably you can freeze that widget using titanium backup or linksd. or on a unrooted phone you can also disable it. settings>apps
Could you point out which one to turn off ?

I've turned off most of the unusable apps. That reduced my ram usage to 800 mb now but didn't find any app to turn off for this thing.
Could you point out which app u r talking about ?

sorry I dont know which app/process it is because I don't own a Samsung device!
you must try to find it yourselves by just freezing apps/process related to lockscreen one after the other!
hmmm... what r u doing here at the first place?

Had the same question as thread opener. I'd prefer to use dashclock to handle this kind of things, non that Samsung stuff. And, at the same time, I'd like to keep text content readable on notification bar. Is this lock screen notification disposable somehow? I see nothing that could be related to it in settings

I took the other way to solve this one..
I have actually installed Textra sms client and I have kept the stock Messaging app aswell.
So, now on, the new sms is captured by Textra and displayed on status bar like before. And if I want, I can use stock sms to reply or read, but I prefer textra now. In case you prefer textra, u can actually turn off stock Messaging from App manager and permanently use Textra (or any other sms client) as a replacement.
Just install a 3rd party SMS app and disable notifications in stock app.
Donnt be bothered about RAM when using a powerhouse such as Note 2

I managed to obtain what I needed with rom toolbox pro using its auto run manager function. Make system apps visible, than look for a package named com.sec.android.app.keyguard and disable the first receiver, whose lengthy name ends with "missed widget provider". No more notifications on lock screen taking the place of my widgets (namely dashclock)!
Hope this helps, fell free to ask for clarifications if needed. No side effects noted until now, but I seldom receive text messages since WhatsApp has been invented, so it hasn't been tested much. Cheers!

Thanks for that! I did the same thing using autostarts.

it's more simple now
Search : Disable Samsung Notification Widget APK* on google, then click on the first link.
It's a mod for xposed installer, for rooted device. This mod remove totally the new message widget and missed call widget of the lockscreen.
Here is that xposed module

Can someone provide me note 2's kitkat lockscreen widgets for the messaging app and dialer only?
I need them badly and don't want to download the whole firmware for just 2 files.

Lock screen replacement for stock ROM on a rooted device

Hello,
After having tried multiple custom ROMs, I have noticed modifications I like and would like to see on my own stock ROM. It appears that with the release of KitKat a lot of work is needed to get certain features back and implement new ones for the famous custom ROMs.
The lockscreen widget that comes with stock seems to have low customisations possibilities and feels slow, especially when the round circle with the lock inside of it is moved fast from one end to the other. What I have noticed with the lock screen from cyanogenmod is that this is not the case and it comes with some nice customisation options. I would like to have this available on my stock ROM. Unfortuanly I have not found a thread here that explains how to achieve this, could some tell me how?
From my own research I have found it is it called clock, is this true?
Thank you

I don't really understand what you want to achieve on your lockscreen but I know that the APP WidgetLocker Lockscreen allows to customize your lockscreen as you want (though I haven't used it for a while)
