Do you guys factory reset after flashing CM?
The best way to install is to flash Official CWM recovery from their website (Google Clockworkmod), download .img file and flash with SGS4 FLASHER from Play Store.
Boot to recovery
Go to mounts and storage
format system, data, cache. (make sure you've done a backup of current ROM before doing ths)
Then flash CyanogenMod ROM
Then factory reset
Then reboot
You should be fine
If you get stuck on splash screen it's cool, Just hold power down and try again. You may need to keep doing this till you see CyanogenMod boot animation. I've had to do it 4 times before it would finally boot. It's normal though just something weird with CM10.2 kernel. If you flash a custom kernel it boots fine everytime

Yeah i always factory reset before a fresh install of a rom. So the file is actually 200mb then? Seems a bit strange to me.

I never had problems installing CM.
I have Phil CWM.
I used the option to wipe for a clean install from the CWM and then installed the zip and after that reboot.
I am on cm 10.1.3 RC2 and all is good
I use phil cwm !! I try all the possible ways to format stuff im flashing roms about 4 years now and know how to flash them... But this CM10.2 just doesnt work for me !! I even used twrp but just doesnt work... Once this thing came afater flashin , it was updating apps and after that got stock on starting apps

My phone has been flashed with Odin to stock , motochopper rooted and Goomanager for TWRP recovery.. No matter what ROM I install with the proper Loki Doki on TW or GE Roms it will work on first boot but if I restart or turn on the and off the phone it will freeze on the Samsung logo screen. Than I have to go through the process of Odin again.. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Flash the rom, then flash a att loki kernel, it will boot, in that order.
name one of the roms.
Which kernel would you suggest? I don't know if I have been doing it wrong this whole time..

I have the same problem as you do. I think, I have solved it myself. This what I did:
1.wipe data/factory
2.install roms
3.install loki (then gapps if possible)
4.wipe data/factory again
5.reboot
Normally, it will reboot first time. When I try to test it if device will reboot but it did, tho it took 5 sec for samsung with unlocked custom logo to pass
Thanks.. What ROM are you using?

I have used GoldenEye ROM and I can restart my phone with no problem. The problem starts when I flash a GE ROM or any other TW ROM. I like to use FoxHound ROM which does work but when the phone restarts it freezes at the SAMSUNG Logo
if ALL else fails back up EVERYTHING and format sdcards internal and external, not at same time--
best to format ext outside phone with a FULL format
have rom/kernel/etc on pc to reload card
either hope you get it sorted--
For some reason, I am unable to flash cyanogenmod based roms.. I am using a T-Mobile S4 Unlocked. I am using the latest CWM. I have attached a picture of the errors. Any ideas? I haven't tried anything because I am even sure what direction to go in.. I have installed CM roms before.. Right now I have the Google Edition 4.2.2 Rom from Jamal installed.
You need to update your recovery to CWM 6.0.3.3

Thank you for your reply. The latest I can find is 6.0.3.2 for the S4.. I have searched this forum and google.. am I missing something
Sorry, I found it.. It isn't listed as T-Mobile and just 9505
this resolved my issue
Alright ive kinda hit a wall im not sure what i can do i can't seem to get my s4 to flash to any custom roms. just picked it up it came with the latest MF9, ive followed the instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2257101 to get root access and to install twrp. i can get it all to install just fine and have verified that i have root access. but once i flash a custom rom ie. CM 10.1 or even Slim mod either through goomanager it will say it installs successfully but once it reboots the new rom splash screen shows up and just sits there forever spinning and it never goes any further.
ive even restored my device to factory and unrooted the device and im still unable to get any roms to load up. am i missing anything that someone might be able to point out
heres the steps ive tried or gone thru
1. CF-autoroot via odin
2. install Twrp or CWM either thru odin or their manager aps
3. copy rom and gapps to sd card
4. boot to recovery and try to install
5. get stuck at splash screen!!!!
You probably need to install a compatible kernel. If the Rom doesn't include one that's the problem.

If you want a good aosp rom try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43120823 it is very stable and awsome except there aren't much customization options update your recovery first then wipe data, system, and cache then flash the rom. Use this as a backup rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2357471

Using twrp ...Whatever the most recent is 2.6.3?
I,have successfully installed cm10.2 Roms in the past.. However when I do the same with a kitkat ROM.. It always fails, I've tried paranoid and cm..... I've wiped, cleared cache and dalvik but alas to no avail :3
Does anybody have suggestions? I almost died of smiles when knock on worked in 4.3 cm (kind of) but I'm sick of the stock ROM and lg's...... Sh-ware

There's a discontinued 2.6.3.4 in the Original Development section. Flashes kk ROMs just fine

Seems flashing that particular recovery with flashify is... Unhelpful xD just fails to boot into even lg's three power button precursor
Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Yeah, I encountered problems through flashify too. I just flashed the zip from TWRP 2.6.3.x, then rebooted the recovery.

Hey for 4.4 Roms you need twrp 2.6.3.3...comes in a zip so easy enough to just flash!....also Philz custom cwm recovery supports 4.4
yeah update recovery, but also do a system and data wipe as well.
be sure to have a backup
and fully downloaded rom.

Strange, flash back to stock via Odin, then install TWRP or PhilZ advanced CWM and try again - could just be a bad CWM install
Could also be the roms are corrupted...
If you have wifi at home try downloading directly to the phone instead of PC. Might be the problem...

Indeed.. And always verify the size of the downloaded file against the one usually posted on the download page.
Additionally.. I would have to concur about using TWRP. It has never failed me.
