I have been using ozzeh's rom and have been following all the other rom development. Why aren't the roms showing up in rom manager? I have rom manager premium and all it shows is cyanogen.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I believe the developers of those ROMS have to submit them to be included.
My guess would be they haven't done so for one reason or another.
I think perhaps because they make developers pay to have their ROMs added to ROM Manager, it may deter people from doing it. I also believe if you personally do not have the pay version, you will not be able to receive updates for your ROM.
http://www.koushikdutta.com/2010/03/rom-manager-and-third-party-roms.html
I don't think devs should have to buy the premium to get their roms listed. Its their hard work that makes rom manager worth having.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I agree. That's pretty messed up.
It's just someone trying to capitalize on someone else's hardwork.
Developers get a free copy of Rom manager premium. It costs them nothing and promotes their Roms. Popular tried and tested roms like cm mod are available to all users while themes and experimental roms are usually only available on premium.

koush has done a lot of hard work for the android community. i dont think this statement is fair.
Koush has done a lot for Android in general and he helped make the recovery flash for the incredible. Please think and understand before *****ing.
Oh I didnt know he maintains rom manager and porting cyanogen too. He has me respect.

Friends.. Just wanted to share this.. I know a build is under progress for the at&t version .. but the 2 most amazing developers at CyanogenMod are now building it for the international version.. And the way they are going we should be seeing it in a few days as experimental builds.
1) @codeworkx : we all know codeworkx of team hack sung ..

I heard cyanogen himself is getting one, so I'm looking forward to having the creator of the Rom itself

But I think he said that he was going to develop for the Qualcomm version of the S4, not sure though... A bit disappointed but we still have really amazing developers!
I have limited knowledge on rom development but I have flashed CM on my current GS2 so would like to ask a few questions -
1.How difficult is it to root and flash roms on HTC devices, the One in particular, compared to Samsung phones?
2. There was lack of documentation and dev support from Samsung's side on the GS2, how does HTC compare? Will CM have everything functioning?
3. How does the 2 button lay out work with CM? Can we configure the buttons?
The MSM8960 crew has already built CM10.1. Check the AT&T HTC One Original Android Development section.
Codeworkx is currently working along with them. Not sure about Koush.
I heard CyanogenMod is working on other stuff currently.

Cm is nice but I'm worried about loosing features from the camera
Not sure they would be able to port it cleanly

Just fyi, ATT version of the device is the same basically as international. My understanding is that there are currently two different variants: GSM (international+ATT) and CDMA (Sprint)
So, ATT ROMs will work on international devices. Trickdroid is known to work on ATT, and I have read somewhere an international user using CM from the AT&T section.

Correct, all GSM variants play nice with one another. So a Rom developed for ATT will work with the international version. People will have to be a little careful when s-off comes but typically devs do not include radio's in their Rom's.
Man I hope sprint version gets the cm loving also

True - I think this is the first time people will really consider not rooting a HTC phone because of Sense.

yeah, not putting an AOSP rom on my phone this time. Too many issues in the past on phones like the sgs3 - not everything works 100%, camera quality is crap, battery life not optimized, etc. Sense 5 is pretty minimal and brings some good features.
Hey guys im a brand new s4 owner, and band new to sprint. I have a question, and in no way do I mean this as in insult to any devs or anyone else for that matter. But seeing as to how we on sprint have the only s4 variant that has an unlocked bootloader, development seems like it's really slow paced right now. I know it's relatively early in the s4s life, but with it being such a huge release, I would have thought development would be exploding, like with the htc one. Is there something keeping development from flourishing?
There's a few rooted debloated stock roms plus a couple custom kernels already to hold you over.
Plus, good things come to those who wait. I have a feeling development on this phone will explode shortly.

Yep. Just wait a bit.
It seems like every new phone that comes out takes a month or two before development explodes.
Plus. I think we're still waiting on kernel source, which can hold things back as well.
Give it 2-3 months and you'll have too many roms to choose from.

I agree with you. Patience is needed in these times as it takes time and majority of the devs do this on their free time. Curiosity did kill the cat you know which is bad and scares the devs away lol.
We are not the only ones with a unlocked bootloader.

Yes t-mobile is and AT&T has been unlocked although it isn't really available to the public yet.
I wonder how hard it would be to port other s4 variant roms to sprint? like t mobile, I see they have a bunch of custom roms and kernels already in their Android development section
So I am starting a project called Cyality ROM and would like to know if any DEV's want to collab on this for shared and equal credit? The word "cytality" stands for cyber vitality, and in and of itself is implying that this ROM will have a long life in our community. Which is what I'm striving for.
The thing that sucks for me is that I'm a noob and can't find or develop my own base to work from. There are other stripped down TW roms out there I can use, but there's a lot of custom stuff from other devs I don't want.
So I was wondering if a seasoned DEV could do me a big, big favor and provide me with a stripped TW MDL base ROM I can build up and work with. This person will obviously get credit, but I need it stripped. I don't want anyone else's custom apps or settings in it as I want to add my own. I'd like to retain the Samsung features at first, like AirView and all that, but everything else can be removed from it.
I've already searched the forums for something like this and the closest thing I could find was SlimBean, which is nice but it's not a TW rom and it's loaded with custom settings from the devs that I don't want.
Since I'm a graphics designer not a programmer, I want to make a rom that is visually stunning to look at while still maintaining performance. I'm going to incorporate Buzz in it by default and a minimalistic theme that will be gorgeous. I already got approval to use ROMDB for beta so the ROM will have auto updating features, community alerts, etc.
So yea.. if anyone could do this for me I'd greatly appreciate it, and this person will get full credit for their contribution. Thanks!
This is pretty awesome. I can find you a base. I would use the newest Brazilian firmware. Unless you are building for a US carrier. In which I would use the latest M919V fiware that came out today

I'm on the Sprint variant, so it's the MF9 update which is the latest. That's what I'll be developing for initially as I have no other means to test other than on my own device.

If I figure out how to convert it to your variant then I'll share the link. I just gotta do a few more things to it.

Now that this rom is released, does anyone have any idea how long something like this would take to port over?
I'm not sure if it's an easy thing or not. I know AOSP was pushed almost same day, albeit being buggy.
I'm pretty excited to get the update on my AT&T phone, however I don't remember how long it took for the 4.3 to be released for regular models.
For anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Awesome! That's where I got my 4.3 GPE rom, thanks for the update dude!
I'm not an expert on this, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
By what I understand, the Google Edition ROM runs with little modification on the AT&T S4. The main hurdles are with the kernel, which has to be modified slightly to run on the AT&T S4. Once a developer is able to modify the kernel to run, porting the rest of the ROM over shouldn't be a big deal. The developers are pretty brilliant and quick on this stuff, so I imagine you'll be seeing ports of the GPE ROM here pretty soon.

Basically. I mean, there isn't a significant difference in the hardware between a normal Samsung S4 and a Google Edition S4, except the LTE chips used for retrieving signal (depends on your carrier). So that being said, the kernel shouldn't be a big deal and the ROM shouldn't be either. I'm really hoping to use Kangakat as soon as it's released, I'm a BIG fan of Kangabean and have been using it along with Omega ROM with dual boot. Can't wait for this! Thanks for the good news!
