Screen Protector with Ringke Hybrid Fusion Case - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a Ringke Hybrid Fusion Case. There was a screen protector for the back side included with the case. How should I apply it? Should I apply it over the case or on the phone?

On the phone. It's to protect the back glass from dirt or dust getting under the case. Make sure that you dry fit it first and trim it if necessary. Mine was right at 1mm too long and it buckled when the case pushed against it.

That's a template for desing-your-own back feature.

That would explain the DIY card included with the case. But if it is just a template, why does it have an adhesive side?

Weird half moon shape on bezel?

I just noticed this today. This is my 3rd nexus 7 and was hoping it was a keeper but im not too sure now. Its a 32gb c90. Just wondering if anybody else has this same issue. Its not water and does not appear to move. I've tried cleaning it off but it seams to be missing the coating in that area as if someone had touched it while it was drying. Any suggestions of what it might be?

It looks to me like the black coating of the bezel de-laminating from the underside of the glass, maybe down to a less than perfectly clean patch on the glass when the bezel coating was applied in manufacture.
Do you have a screen protector on it.. It looks like its under that and not between the glass.
looks like you spilled water or something.

The reason I thought it might be the coating on the glass is because if I wipe all of the finger prints off its barley visible but if I swipe over it it reappears. Ill post some pics of what I mean.
See how the skin oil gets "stuck" on the shape.
Anyways I think Im going to return it in case it decides to do more of what it is doing whatever that maybe.

That's what I first thought but it hasn't been near water and didn't "move" like water when I pushed on it. Also, if you look at the reply below I posted another pic of it. It seems that it may be on top of the glass but I've tried cleaning it with a micro fiber cloth but it stays there. I tried an alcohol swab and it seemed that the alcohol dried faster on that spot than the rest of the screen (I don't usually clean my screens with alcohol unless I cant get something off because I had read that it can destroy the coating on these "new" types of glasses)
Well then its just a defect in the glass or the coating they put on the surface to make it more smooth. Has it always been there.. anyway send it back i would
If you clean the screen then you can't see it?
Then clean the screen and apply a screen protector. That should solve it. I use an SGP Matte and its great.

I guess I could do that but I just don't want it to continue to deteriorate and end up having a pos outside of my return window. I think I'll just exchange it and continue the cycle.

[Q] possible to replace Nexus 4 glass back for something else?

Is possible to replace Nexus 4 glass back for something else?
Before I had this phone, I replaced my Iphones back cover with one found at cnn.cn.
I am wondering if this is possible with the nexus 4 and if so how I would go about doing it.
thanks
No. Not yet anyway. They have carbon fiber body protectors though
Not yet. Hopefully companies start making some though. I love the glass back, but don't think it will hold up too long. I'd love to replace it for a carbon fiber or leather back.
Some reviews mentioned that the back glass is somehow linked to the board inside which cannot be replaced easily
The glass back contains the NFC chip, and some antennas if I remember correctly.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
The glass back doesn't contain anything. The back is multiple layers. The outer layer (the glass) is stuck to a plastic back w/ sticky stuff. On the other side of the plastic back frame is where the antenna's are stuck. It's basically a sandwich. Antenna's etc, on one side, plastic in the middle, and glass on the other side.
You can see this here http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/QOafFZVDlGVyMbhj.huge
The question is how sticky is the glue stuff they use, and is it reusable if removed.
Anything available as of now, i need the back body ... the glass is shattered badly
so the glass is stuck to the back of the frame of the handset ?
So all we need to do is, machine some plastic plates the same as the glass and re-adhere the new back on ?
Anyone with a smashed Glass back can try this ? cut a 4mm piece of black perspex and replace . . . .
cant see why LG/GOOGLE don't make some nice non-glass replacements . . . .

Do you feel these skins will actually help protecting the glass back? I'm not really talking about scratches, but mainly drops...
And eh, do they stick nicely? I hate skins, but this is just something else.
Doubtful about crack/shatter protection... more for scratches/personalization or for concealment when your glass does inevitably shatter

Yeah it won't stop the glass shattering, people who have kept their factory plastic covers on have still shattered.
The glass is brittle like any glass , gorilla glass is just scratch resistant / repellant but it will scratch if you use something with the same hardness as glass ( that's sand particles / building site dust / metal swarf ) and a hit on the edge of the phone where the glass meets the from will shatter the glass 90% of the time.
Get a rubber case and screen protector if your worried, I scuffed up my HTC one x good with out them and I'm not taking chances with the nexus . .
The only way to stop this is a replacement back cover made of another material.
This might be what I am looking for. It's our pretty anti slip proof?

Does the Nexus6P have a plastic film on the screen when you take it out of the box?

does the screen have a plastic film on it when first taken out of the box? or is it only that plastic pouch that says nexus that the phone is removed from, and the screen is naked (just glass) ?

It's a plastic sleeve/pouch, so the screen is naked.

protecting?

How will you guys be protecting the device? Totally naked? Liquid screen protector on the front? Tempered glass? No cases yet and this might be the first phone I don't want to cover up with anything but a dbrand skin on the back because of fingerprints.
The idea of the liquid screen protector is appealing. Also maybe using one of those types of liquids to add some water resistance

I'd like a super thin case but it doesn't look like there are going to be any.
Tempered glass is a must. I do that on all my phones.
There is another case thread:

Never a case, always a skin (waiting for dbrand) and would be the 1st time I use a screen protector .. don't know if i'm going to like the plastic feel instead of glass but i'll give it a try.

Could do the liquid ones. They are pretty good.
No case, not this phone. It's a masterpiece that needs to be showcased lol.

Says everyone, until you drop it once and have a big marr too corner. Then you'll need a case to hide the ugliness

trust me you dont need a case, i went to the essential event and all the employees dropped there phone from waist high, some demonstrated it more and not a single scratch or damage to the screen or titanium frame, i mean none, you have to see this in person yourself, its awesom,e.
I haven't used a case or screen protector on a phone in over 3 years and I don't think I ever will. It completely ruins the experience of owning a flagship phone. I buy insurance and take my chances.

On to what though? And vinyl or wood floor would make sense why it didn't damage it. Now if it was concrete then I'd be surprised.

Whitestone Dome Screen Protector Lifting

Hello, I'm currently on my 3rd Whitestone Dome glass but have experienced some form of lifting of the glass on the right side of the protector. I've heard it may be from a lack of curing from the glue but I've shown the UV light on the device extra long during the application process, so I'm not sure if that's the case. Has anybody else had some experiences like this, and is this issue fixable? Thanks!
You could just take it off, remove the glue from the protector and install it again if you have extra loca glue.

I actually do not have a case on my phone.
the upper left corner of mine is lifting up as well. No case either... just a skin
I've had the same on 3 freshly applied screenprotectors. Despite extra curing the screenprotectors after applying, the screenprotector starts to lift within a week on at least 2 corners. And i do not use a case. Under the lifted corners there seems to be a liquid substance underneath as if the glue wasn't cured enough. As told earlier i applied extra curing and it seemed that the glue had become solid. What could be the cause here?
I've given up on screen protectors...just not worth time effort and $$ spent.

I disagree. The ArmorSuit wet apply screen protector is amazing. They're $7 on eBay and come with a lifetime warranty.
