That is what you're doing wrong. Do you have an ext partition on your sd card? If you don't, create one. And reduce that 400 to 300mb. (I am assuming you want to install via DataOnExt.)

yes i want it istal like you say, than i must to reduce to 300m , how i create ext4 partiton and how large must it be

How big is something you decide (I suggest 1.5GB), how to create: just google "how to create ext4 partition android"

android rom not booting

I have been attempting to get WP7 working on my hd2, but have given up as I just can't get the thing to activate. So I have been trying to put android back on, but nothing I try installing now comes out bootable. I've even tried putting it back to an official rom before installing (or trying to) android. whereas that rom works, the android install still fails to boot.
Anyone got any suggestions?
which rom are you trying to install? cwm or daf install?
cwm install, imilka's vision sense.
Hi,
I have HD2 with 3.03.0000 SPL, 2.15.50.14 radio, ROM 3.14.479.2 (04666) WWE.
I tried to boot SuperRAM_FroYo_V1.5.
Everything is ok, but when green HTC logo appears, phone is restarting to Windows... Can someone tell me what I need to do to boot Android ? I tried to search, but I dont find answer.
Thanks.
Looking into it farther, it's looking like when i try to install from clockworkmod recovery (3.0.0.5) that I have booting off my sd-card, the install goes far too wuick. it doesn't even create partitions or anything. Could it be the wp7 rom caused some areas of the phone to be 'locked' or something similar?

You have reformatted your SD Card to original size after using WP7, have you? If not, download Panaspnic SD Formatter and format your SD card using that.
Are you guys making sure you have right CWR system layout size for the ROM you're trying to flash? That's usually the problem if it won't get past the first Android bootscreen.
Task 29
Flash radio
Reformat sdcard
Flash magdlr1.13
Flash cwm recovery with correct partition size.150, 200mb etc.
Flash rom
Tbe task 29 and sdcard reformat should revers any possibilities of something still hanging around from wp7

2.2miui stock via cwm

Only use this if just flashing the correct CWR partition won't work. There's also no need to reflash the radio. Task 29 only formats the NAND area.
Yeah, I did a full set of partitions on my sd card. not sure it was needed as wp7 didn't recognise the card.
Depends on which task 29 he finds in his search. Also if this is somehow radio related (seriously doubt) why not reflash it anyways, not gonna hurt. Since we dont know exactly whats wrong why not just redo eveything. Only takes about 5 minutes. And pretty much guaranteed to boot

Full set of partitions? Meaning you've got a FAT32 first partition and a Ext3/4 second partition? What CWR do you have installed though? It might be the wrong size for the ROM you're trying to flash. You can check what size CWR partition you have by opening the flash.cfg file (inside of your CWR folder) and find the line with 'system ya | 300' etc.

Yeah. I have the partitions set up as follows
1. Fat32 13gigs (ish)
2. Ext4 1gig
3. Ext4 350mb
3. linux swap 150gig.
the version of my clockworkmod recovery thing is v.3.0.0.5 and is running off my sd card, not actually installed on the phone. This has all worked for me fine until i put wp7 on, now nothing seems to be working. sigh.
Running off your SD card as in the intrid and zImage file are in there? I suggest you just update your CWR to the newest version (1.3). It doesn't need those files to be copied to the SD Card and runs off NAND. In MAGLDR it has it's own menu too. (AD Recovery). For me, I just have a load of different recovery folders with different partition sizes but it's not needed. I suggest you download the 150M CWR and then just change the partition size to whatever is needed. You just change the System ya | -150- to whatever size is needed. It'll probably be in the first post of the ROM you're downloading.

You need to format your whole sdcard. Whatever your using to format isnt seeing everything. Some partition types are only seen by linux. What partition tool are you using?

I used gparted to give it it's fresh lot of partitions
Have you tried what I said to do?
Ok, got recovery flashed in and running out of magldr. When it comes to partitioning the sd card, what is the advantage of 4 partitions over 3, as some rom threads say to partition 4, some say 3.
You mean an Ext3/4 partition? I honestly don't know and I just use an Ext3 partition as it's easier to do on XP. Both work though fine though.
Have you flashed your ROM yet?

phone into bootloader - use hspl4 to set 2.08.hspl - back into bootloader - flash radio 2.15.50 - reboot phone whilst holding power will start magldr - choose usb flasher - using the nand toolkit select the partition size you want (it will tell you in the rom you want to flash thread, usually post 1) and click partition - this will partition the nand and install clockwork - reboot phone holding power to start magldr - magldr option 8 ad recovery - this will start clockworkmod - advanced - partition sd card (this will wipe your sd card so back it up, , only need to do this once, it creates an EXT partition taht teh phone uses as extra internal storage, 1gb is usually right for most people) - reboot, back into magldr - back into clockwork - mounts and storage - mount sd card - copy the rom.zip you wanna flash to the sd card, still in clockwork choose install zip from sd - select teh rom you copied across - done.

Well you clearly haven't read enough! All of these threads show that flashing a .50 radio unlocks the 576 MB RAM. For f**k's sake, stop posting stupid questions in the Q&A when there have been a tonne of them, just use the search and read properly. It isn't hard.
EDIT: Lol, just saw that samsamuel got in a minute before me. Oh how ironic my post now is :')

If yes, then either hspl is wrong or radio is wrong.
hspl MUST be 2.08.hspl - enter bootloader and check the spl line.

Hi. thats not that difficult.
Best thing is you read HERE CAREFULLY
But i am trying to explain it easy for you:
First you need to be sure you have the following "things" installed correctly:
1.) Prepare your Mobile
HSPL 2.08 (to be able to flash MAGLRD)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5279234&postcount=1
Radio 2.50.15.14 (which supports 576MB RAM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
MAGLDR 1.13 Bootloader (to be able to install Clockwork Mod)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893618
Recovery (Clockwork Mod; i prefer the Touch version)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419733
For ICS you need at least 200MB system partition (Recovery Layout; the space from your NAND (intern memory) for your ROM file). Means you have to edit the flash.cfg coming with MAGLDR before flashing the CWM; do this with Notepad++:
I am using following config (flash.cfg):
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 220M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
Now you are prepared for installing a ROM. In your case ICS.
2.) Flash ROM
Download the .zip file for your ROM. There are two versions. CLK (just another Bootloader) and MAGLDR. We are using MAGLDR. So download it here:
[15.Jan.2012] NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434860
Now you just need to copy the ROM .zip on your SD-Card. Then load into Bootloader (MAGLDR) and choose point 8. for your Recovery (CWM).
Now, if you had another rom installed, you need to wipe all cache and data including the Dalvik Cache (under Advanced).
Then install your .zip file with "install zip from sd" and wait. Done. Restart your mobile
3.) Install DATA2SD
IF you want to use DATA2SD (means to store apps and system relevant data on your sd-card) you have to create an EXT-Partition on your SD-CARD.
Just do this with CWM, there is an option for it (should be something like "Partition your SD-Card"). I am using 1GB partition with 0MB swap.
Once you have done this navigate to this thread and do EXACTLY what that guy wrote in post #207. But instead of using the file from post #207 use the flashable file from post #174 (40ad2sdx-a2Recovery.zip).
If you did it correctly you are done
And again, for additional info read THIS COMPLETLY.
Have fun

Bloody hell, can't you do anything yourself? Are you completely incapable of typing a question into Google!?
Boot into CWM recovery and select partition SD card, choose 1024Mb partition and 0Mb swap. This will delete everything on your SD card though.

Doubt with native SD ROM

Hi there,
I successfully flashed an Android 4.2.1 Native SD ROM on the HD2's NAND (TimeJelly). This is the procedure I followed (coming from a complete erase of the phone's NAND, as the result of a failed previous attempt, lol):
Flashed HSPL 2.08
Flashed Radio compatible with 576 MB of ram (12.xx.50.xx if I recall correctly)
Flashed MAGDLR 1.13
Flashed CWM 6.0
Flashed the ROM from CWM by choosing zip from sd card.
And everything is good and working. But, I used one friend's SD to flash (since I still don't have one)... Now, I'd like to swap out the SD I used to flash (I understand it did automatically create an Ext4 partition on it?) and use the one I'll buy tomorrow.
What do I have to do? Without the SD the phone will just refuse to boot, stucking at the green HTC logo. Do I just have to partition the new SD from CWM? Do I have to flash everything again? (Jeeeeez).
I understand the EXT4 partition would be used only for the data, since it is stated Data2Ext in the ROM's title. ROM is in the NAND with DATA2EXT (the exact option I chose during installation, second one).
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated

Nono, I just installed a native sd ROM on the phone's NAND, and now it will simply not boot without an EXT4 formatted SD (because the /data partition is there, not on the NAND).
I repartitioned the SD from CWM this morning choosing 2 GB of EXT partition, and 2 GB of FAT32 partition, and everything is working. But, there's another problem. Whenever I reboot the phone, it will simply lose EVERY single setting, and it prompts me again to choose the language, google accounts ecc...
Any help?

no you didnt, , a nativeSD rom lives in the EXT partition, If you installed a rom to nand, then its a nand rom. If you install it to teh FAT partition, its an SD rom, if you install it to the sd-ext, its a nativeSD rom.
I understand it did automatically create an Ext4 partition on it?

no, you must create the ext partitions yourself.
Sounds to me like you have a nand rom, which is also using dataonext, , meaning teh rom lives on Nand, and the data partition is mounted onto the sd-ext, , in which case.....
into CWM - full backup
new sd card into phone
into cwm - create ext partition on new sd card
in cwm - selectively restore ONLY the sd-ext partition (you will need to have coppied over the fat32/clockwork/backups folder from the old card to teh new card)
reboot.

The SD card image backup would, essentially, duplicate a card in entirety, all partitions included.

i didn't say anything about an sd card backup, i said do a full cwm backup, which includes the system, data, boot and sd ext partitions, and not the fat32 partition, and then restore only the sdext partition to the new card (after of course creating teh new ext partition on teh new card)

[Q] Fail at booting

Hello guys,
I installed this particular rom on my HD2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224469
The installation completes succesfully but when I reboot it stucks on a black screen. Using MAGLDR and CWM, in the installation I chose NAND installation type. Is there maybe anything I do wrong?
Thx in advance

You should use DataOnExt. Create an ext partition on your sdcard and reinstall the ROM with the installation option "Nand with DataOnExt" chosen. And you should be good to go.

You can follow this great tutorial by mengfei up to the point where he says "Another method of creating an EXT4 partition". (don't forget to thank him)
Edit: Your memory failed you , it must be an ext2/3/4. (In addition to your original FAT32)

If I'm not mistaken it's almost exactly the same as in mengfei's guide. Just boot into AD Recovery from MAGLDR, select Advanced then partition SD card. Choose whatever size you like (if you're not sure then 1GB is always a good safe option) and usually you won't have need for a swap partition so select 0 here. This will delete all of the data on your SD card though so make sure to back anything important up first.

I actually don't remember having to select ext3 or 4 when installing but normally it doesn't make too much difference as far as I know.

Ok, and as long as I do partition the sd card it will obviously need to copy the .zip of the ROM again onto the sd card correct?

Yeah, the best way to do it is using an SD card reader but since you don't have that using USB mass storage or the option in cwm should be fine.

That process is likely to format your sdcard, so MAKE SURE you have backed up everything. That means you'll also have to recopy the .zip file of the ROM.
Ok, so thx each one of u for the help, rly appreciate it Thx a lot guys

[Q] New Rom for HTC HD2, NexusHD2-JellyBean-CM10.1 V2.1 [NativeSD]

Hi,
I am currently using Rom from tyween: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951 and I would like to install a new one from Tytung http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224469 .
My questions:
1. in description of tytungs Rom is stated that NAND version is for USA T-mobile so I assume that with my international version I have to use the other two versions and if so then the only way to install it is using aurora installer?
2. Nevertheless I tried NAND version installed it using CWM but then it got stuck on loading screen, could this problem be solved by this patch? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40623956&postcount=821
3. Is it possible to use Rom Manager to install this Rom? I have only tried CWM method and this one seems also really easy to use.
Thank you for your answers!!!

Nand is divided into two: 1- Pure Nand (EVERYTHING is on the NAND of the device) and 2- Nand with DataOnExt (as the name implies, some of the data will be stored on an EXT partition on your SD card).
Since the international version of the HD2 only has about half a gig of storage, if you fit everything into the NAND you won't have enough space left for you to install apps and whatnot. If you want it on NAND, you need to choose the second option (some data on the sdcard), but you need to make sure you have an EXT partition on your sd card first (if you don't know how to make one, search).
And "aurora" (you mean aroma*) is just a path, it IS like you said THE installer. It's got nothing to do with your installation. It is just a fancy make-up for the old installation method. Yes, you'll have to use it.

No, that patch is for something else. Your problem is different.
If you mean:
1- NAND Only, then you may have not made enough partition space for the system. (Either way, you shouldn't use this one, use NAND WITH dataonext).
but if you mean 1- NAND with DataOnExt, then it is either your partition size is too small or you do not have a proper sdcard ext partition.

It's the same thing. When you select "Install ROM" in ROM Manager, it will actually reboot your device into CWM and you will have to follow the steps of Aroma as well. Yes, you can use it if you have cLK bootloader and not magldr.
You are welcome
According to your answer, I have to download AROMA installer and use it for installing new Rom. In DataOnExt version will 1 Gb partition be enough?

No, Aroma is *included* in the .zip file of the ROM. Just download the ROM, flash from recovery normally but instead of the usual text of procedure, you'll see a fancy screen where you get to configure the ROM before it is installed.
In my opinion, yes, 1GB is more than enough.
recover
Hi.i can not enter to recovery in this rom.Can someone help me.I installed by cwn

CWM is independent from the ROM you install.
If you are talking about "boot into recovery" from within the ROM, that's a rom's feature and does not have to be included in it. You can reach the recovery by rebooting your phone into MAGLDR and then choosing the option AD. Recovery or something like that.
Just to add a little to Marvlesz's answer, reboot into recovery/bootloader on any ROM will just reboot the phone normally if you have MAGLDR. To access CWM just hold power for the MAGLDR menu then select 8. AD Recovery. If you use cLK on the other hand, reboot into recovery does work if I'm not mistaken.
I tried to install this ROM using various settings (DataOnExt / Native SD, wipe/no wipe, magldr / ppp...) but phone always ends up rebooting itself after htc loading screen. I did partition SD card to FAT 32 (primary) and 1GB EXT4 (primary).
What could be the problem and how to solve it?
Thank you!

What /system partition size did you use? Make sure it's big enough for the ROM you're trying to flash.

EXT4 = 1GB. I partitioned SD card with Mini Tool Partition Wizard, then copied Zip on SD card, wiped data (factory reset + dalvik) installed ROM. To me it feels like I did everything according to instructions...

No, not your SD EXT partition, the partition you flashed when flashing CWM.

I have 150 mb. So for this ROM should I use 250 or 400?

285. To create that, go to wherever your CWM thing is stored on your PC, open the CWM folder, open the file flash.cfg (not flash.cfg.txt.) in notepad (it should open in this way automatically) then change the value next to the line beginning 'SYSTEM...' from 150 to 285, keeping everything else exactly the same.
