Some few TIPS & ADVICE
For the Best performance :good:
CPU settings
- Keep SMARTASSH3 as current governor -Optimizes-
- Min CPU frequency "Set it as 352 MHz" -Current-
- Max CPU frequency "Set it as 710 MHz
- Set on boot!
Restores CPU settings on boot :good:

- Tick those 3 boxes

For Holo Launcher ---My Preferances---Hey guys these are my Holo preferences so Feel free to use! Remember to thank me though!
Holo Launcher Desktop settings - BACKUP-
Holo Launcher settings -Backup-
Warning: So after you've downloaded these, make sure you have Holo Launcher folder with the Backups!
Replace those with UltraBeam GB files

I've been using V0.4 for some days, it's really good.
Stable and fast. No bugs found,
I have rarely a bit of lag with incoming calls, the screen seems to freeze for a while but I solved
enablng "answer with trackball". I just stopped the slide to answer at all.
Tapping the trackball is faster and the phone reacts immediately.
Waiting to try V5, to see if you really will be able to do even better!
Thanks

You already have a thread in the general section why not just use that as a main/Q&A/Non-dev/"Fans" thread. Not wanting to provoke you but I don't see many more fans appearing as wildfire is barely active and will most likely be in the "low end device" category soon
Instead of having a fans thread why not just add a "Hit thanks or donate to me if you like my work and want to see more" at the top of your thread instead of promoting Off-topic and general discussion which is bound to end in someone Losing their cool or raging/trolls and the thread being locked and infractions being handed out by mods

these threads are unnecessary, all these tips/advice things should go in the rom thread itself.
Stone. cold you got to consider these things now,I know you are just a kid but now you should understand the way things go here.

I have created this thread because i'm going to add huge amounts of UltraBeam GB tips & advice and if i add that in the main UltraBeam thread it would all go wrong you see. Also i'm 15 years old
And i will understand the way things go :good:

It will be even faster than V.04 For sure!

It's not a big deal just don't be creating a thread every other day for Ultrabeam Rom. & it'd be cool to see what tips and tricks you have to offer as most have been around for a while.

I have flashed V5 as soon as you uploaded it.
It rocks!
I think that Holo Launcher is the best choiìce.
Thanks to Titanium Backup I managed to import all my apps, data and settings with no hassle.
I had to fight a little bit when flashing because I messed up my MTD Partitions settings (I want to spill every single bit of free memory).
When I started from scratch flashing clean CWM 4014, MTD Recovery, Ultrabeam, Gapps and MTD Boot everything went fine.
Thanks a lot for your work.

Patches and Extras
google-apps-etcV3.zip<--flash this right after flashing the rom.
tsupdate3.zip <---flash from recovery if your touchscreen is completely unresponsive.
Spoke with Conap about using his kernel for tsupdate4.zip, he he prefers that i not re-release it. you can find his kernel and wlan.ko from this post. xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM]ErisLightningBolt 2.7 Cyanogen build( OC, JIT, Apps2sd, GPS)6/21/10.
instructions on how to flash the kernel can be found here [ROM]ErisLightningBolt 2.7 Cyanogen build( OC, JIT, Apps2sd, GPS)6/21/10 - Page 142 - xda-developers
If you want wifi working after this though you much have the wlan.ko. Extract it to your sdk/tools and
Code:
adb remount
adb push wlan.ko /system/lib/modules/
adb reboot
old_lockscreen.zip <---flash from recovery if you prefer the sliding tabs rather than the rotary LS
New Patches
Ask and ya shall receive. Due to the overwhelming amount of requests for JIT, JIT is now enabled by default. here are patches to turn them on/off. I got the basic idea from Zach.Xtra
Flash these from recovery, wipe, reboot.
Jit On. <---JIT is on by default, but if you turn it off and would like to turn it back on, flash from recovery, clear dalvk, reboot.
Jit Off. <---Flash from recovery, wipe dalvik and reboot. Will turn off JIT.

froyo white widow would be the same as all the other froyo roms. the only froyo rom that is even kinda unique is that new nonsensikal one
I just flashed this rom (and a couple of the fixes as well). I immediately moved some apps to sd and checked internal storage.....6%. Then I took a picture and scrolled through the gallery. Man, it feels good to be back on 2.1. I love Froyo but my wife is prego, I'm about to go out of town for business, and I've got a cruise scheduled for Sept. I need a stable rom for a while and I think I've found one. Thanx for the awesome rom! I shall play and report back later.

Let me know what you think
Some of you may remember back on the white widow wave, i had a section for MM themes. i may add a section the the 2nd pot for working MM themes. theres so many of them out there. i just gave minimal matte a shot. the control files takes little tweaking, and theres a few images that i cant get to stick fro the theme, but thats my new favorite one. and the suave sense icons and all that looks REALLY nice too. i based my whole suave sense rom off of eessels suave sense MM

Dude, I'm very impressed. This is the ROM I've been looking for. I was wanting a ROM that had a working camera, and wanted a ROM with no dialer lag. That's why I was on KaosFroyo because there was no dialer lag that I experienced on every Sense 2.1 ROMS. I couldn't find a decent 2.1 non-Sense ROM until now!!!! Thank you very much sir! Expect a donation from me soon. Serious. You just made my night. =]
Also, I'm new to this and I installed SetCPU... should I have not? I noticed that I can only OC to 528 instead of 710 like other ROMS I have been on. Please let me know...

ya, set cpu should be installed. what pre-set did you chose? auto-detect is the one you should have picked. this rom can be clocked up to 864. you got something going wrong.
are any of the setting in setcpu un-selectable? if there are, that means that your in 'read-only' mode. meaning you didnt give setcpu root access. try messing around with those few things.
This is a zippy rom. Downloads apps fast, navigates through screens fast....no lag at all. I like that I can see my fat32, partition, and internal storage in settings. Live wallpapers stick (or at least the one I tried did). I recommend "Shake Them All" from the market.
I'm on setcpu 2.0.1 and when I autodetect it's only allowing me to go to 768. Still quick, but you said it should OC to 864. Any ideas?
This is def. my new daily use rom!

Also, just to add, if you're having trouble with the permissions for SetCPU, just go into the superuser permissions app (whichever one is included) and remove it from the list. Then, when you click on setcpu, make sure you click always allow for root permissions.
(I know you probably already know that, but this way if other people are having trouble they don't have to post )

A ROM is more than just technical merit, there is also a good dose of artistic/cohesive vision, the ability to put all of these components together in the perfect way that makes the entire package amazing. This could be that, so let's not take a dump on it without even trying it, okay?

EDIT: looks like your on top of it
More rom is good , more is good !

Fast,Stable and User-Friendly Stock 2.3.3

Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, and yet i already see countless posts of people asking how could they make their phone faster, what is the best rom and such...
This thread is for those who would wanna speed up their phone by sticking to stock, those who want to change a bit of here and there yet still want stock, noobies who are afraid of flashing kernel or roms and alike.(I'm a noobies myself, so this should't be a problem to everyone else)
Remember that I take no credits in all of the tweaks, but feeling the need to compile it all together so that it could make it easy for others, please say thanks to developer who created all this in the very first place and donate to them if possible.
And always read the OP carefully...
By this point, I'm assuming your phone is rooted with xrecovery enable, and if not,go here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
Now that you have stock,I know it is killing you because it is so laggy.
First thing I would suggest you to do is transfer whatever app you can to sd card(keep in mind that any apps with active widget most likely will not be working if this is done)......unless you have Link2sd installed or won't mind installing another app(big thanks to Gregbradley)
Secondly,Install Titanium Backup, you can get it from the market, and start deleting/uninstall apps that come with stock that you think useless, see thread below for what apps is safe to uninstall....and then start considering whether these apps worth being there or not....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193004
After done with all that, now apply FPS uncapped by zdzihu via xrecovery,
link below,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192867
By this point, you will already notice huge smoothness with the phone, almost as if you bought a new one
There is also another tweak by zdzihu that i recommend such as Bravia Engine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193274&page=3
Now that your phone is so smooth, you will probably fancy all the status switch that comes with custom rom,and you don't have in stock, and you feel uneasy...don't worry because it is here, with stock look!
Head to link below...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293738
Last but not least, stock battery on our notification window is not so useful(if not useless)...Circle battery bar looks good and yet useful, here is the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194266
along the journey,I notice that after applying fps uncap,my phone works beautifully, but there is one flaw, which, during charging, when i flick between home screen(but not happening when the battery is fully charge),it will move funny(maybe this is just me),however, when I flash the Circle battery mod,it is gone,so instead of my battery sign looks good,it is also accidently fix the funny flick during charging.....
All the tweaks applied above work beautifully with each other,(I'm using it right now for quite a while and no issues at all!),somehow, I held no responsibility if you brick your phone(seriously,I doubt this can happen).
And now download your favorite launcher and start making it look the way you want it.Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, and do not hesitate to ask me if there is anything arise and I will help where I can...

If you use link2sd you can move all apps to the sd card and still use widgets on the homescreen. Its far better than just using the native move to sd.
Just flash this to get it working
http://www.mediafire.com/?7w9v9eptjcieh
Secondly, if you use the grey circle battery mod, dont forget that has been cooked using wolfs framework-res.apk. Very similar to stock but not 100% stock so there "may" be other UI differences and glitches. (I know you said you are using it fine, but its optimised for stock rom, far better to cook your own at http://uot.dakra.lt/)

read the link about it,
Basicaly stock x10 has the frames per second (fps) capped at 33.
This tweak gets rid of that cap. All custom roms use it (I think, I cant beleive anyone wouldnt put it in a custom rom)

GO Launcher is a rather "heavy" app and, take my word for it, not "well-written". BUT it mostly performs very well and it's the most good-looking and customisable option available. I use it on both my X10 and my Arc and I wouldn't change it for any other atm.

Depends very much on the amount of widgets you use.
I use only 3 widgets and GO takes up 9,4 MB of RAM. Battery Stats has it most of the time at around 5th place in CPU Process counter, which is acceptable for me.

I have 7 active widgets running 24/7,and I don't have battery stats to measure mine, but it's usage doesn't even get in the list of battery consumption(unless I'm looking at it wrongly)
And along with this,a proof of my phone will last for 2 days on moderate use with this tweaks(it is not yet 2 days, but not even 50% used for almost one full day)
@op wonderful and simple guide to improving stock without changing Rom. I would love to see experienced members expand on this so as we could also have some simple add-ons (eg, I always flash Doomlords battery charge icon zip on stock roms)
Also would be excellent to have a basic improved build.prop and a handful of basic initd scripts.

fair question Greg,
The point is perhaps that some users would like to stay with stock and just tinker with tweaks. If people wish to flash a custom ROM that is fine, but as the OP suggests this is to "clean-up" a stock ROM.
Also, copying tweaks from a ROM does not mean they will work, often tweaks are built between a number of files (install recovery.sh/build.prop/innitD) and newer users are not sure on how to create scripts that will work/execute properly. **
My suggestion is that experienced users suggest which scripts to use (supercharger/loopysmoothness/etc) and how to apply then so that they run correctly (lines needed to be added to build, permissions on script/file/whatever!)
** I certainly struggle with the amount of information out there!

I agree, but where do you draw the line. Someone will be happy with complete stock. SOmeone else will say that stock with fps uncap is perfect for them, others will want to implememt OC/UC/UV as well to make it perfect for them, others will want to use link2sd, so will need the tweak for that, others will want....always others will want....
as soon as you start to tweak you are personalising. The great thing about android is you can personalise...in order to personalise you need to read up in aforum (Like this one) to see what is avaialble...but ineviatabley, someone will put all those tweaks into a rom...its far easier for noobs to flash a custom rom than to try and implement twaeks themselves, especially when a lot of tweaks mess with framework and systemui, so themes get messed with....
My best advice is to use custom roms, find what you like, then if there is anything you dont like, learn how to get rid, or if there is something you want extra, kindly ask the dev, or learn how to do it yourself.
I am a great believer in people learning for themselves...otherwise you might as well have an iphone....

Q- How to restore Nandroid backup taken with a kernel but not CF?
A-
Simple. Flash that kernel (Siyah for example) in Recovery (Hope you're already rooted with CF LP6 kernel) >> DO NOT reboot system, but reboot in recovery >> You'll have Siyah recovery now, simply Advanced restore Data, wait till it restores >> Again, DO NOT reboot device >> Power it off >> Go to Download Mode and connect the device with Odin in PC >> Flash the CF LP6 kernel >> DONE.

• As always the first thing I did was checking if the phone calls were great or not, and as usual there is no problem. Earpiece, loudspeaker volume in call was great. NR is present as it was.
• No problem with Vibration intensity, it's as strong as in GB.
• Same incoming call UI, Answer/Reject sliders don't slide, now I am starting to believe that this is the way it is, well I will be very disappointed then, I don't like non slider Answer/Reject options, no one does I guess.
• 480x800 Wallpapers back on working on Stock TW launcher.
• Market is working fine, downloading works same as before.
• Face Unlock works
• FM Radio back and working again.
• Swype is same 3.26.92. The default KB is same QWERTZ as previous LP6.
• GPS locks is fine in GMaps. Satellites locking are good too with GPS Status and Toolbox. So I can say GPS completely works here.

• Camera & Video Recording works, it always did.
• WiFi, Bluetooth works.. Sorry can't comment on Data/GPRS as the APN's were lost.
• Network Mode option is BACK and you can alter between networks(2G/Auto) as before.
• 1080P FLV Video played very smoothly with Stock Video player.
• 1080P YouTube videos played smoothly as well.
• Same Stock Email UI, I love it. Gray background is nice.
• Deep Sleep does work.
• Connection with PC worked as usual.
• Stock browser is great, smooth and all positive. I like it more than my gf now (Hope she ain't reading this)
• [NEW]The WiFi icon on status bar has a green/orange upload/download notification as well, same like in H+/3G, nice.
• [NEW]The update/download notification of apps are now have a big white icon in status bar.
• Same annoying and weird ICS lockscreen animation.
• Haptic feedback does work. Make sure you've enabled 'Vibrate on touch' option under /Settings/System. The touch lights do glow as well.
• New 3D sorta view in TW launcher, yes when you're switching between home screens you'll notice it but the loop feature is disabled both in home screen and app drawer, which is a big drawback for the TW users I am sure, I don't bother it as I am a Go Launcher user.
• The overscroll glow color is changed from Sky blue to GB Blue and the effect is very minimum than before.
• Settings icon is changed as it is/was in GB, don't know why am I even mentioning it.
• Battery life is good I'd say. Not paranoid anymore about it though
• The touch response and smoothness of the ROM is pretty good so far. No hang or FC yet, however device did reboot once in this period of an hour.
Browser benchmark and tab:
••• Conclusion:
Far better than previous LP6 and definitely a keeper.

The first page of this forum has six, yes six, ICS threads, of which five are about this ROM. Since my attempt to have his last spammy thread closed was rejected, I choose to express my disdain by voting 1-star.
Anyway, carry on, having discussion about a ROM in five places in one forum is great.

yes but the OP always makes good threads from what i have been reading and gives good throughout reviews on each leak that gets released. Compare to the rest you say i would rate this one and the other one by Farayab.(hope i spell his name right) His is for all the leaks in one thread to be organized and this one gives his reviews and thoughts about the leak. So what is wrong with that? If you want to close other threads then close the other ones. For me this is a really good one and people should show some appreciation for the effort he puts in.

Ah so your the reason I had to waste my time contacting the admin to ask him to reopen this thread after the last release then.
I for one always look for this thread long before reading the others whenever a new rom is released. Its a useful "one stop shop" for all the relevant info about the rom. Thankfully the admin agreed and obliged my request.
So, to put it blunt, get off your high horse and stop being a prick. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean the rest of us agree with you.

Haters gonna hate.
So just to clarify, you think it's sensible to have five places for information about one ROM? Of course you don't have to agree with me, and clearly the mods don't either, which at the end of the day is all that matters. That's why I expressed by disdain by voting one-star instead of reporting the thread. I only posted here at all because someone complained about the thread being given a low rating, and I felt the need to justify why.
Also, I wasn't actually the cause of his other thread being closed, if you read my post, I said my request was rejected.
Anyway, intermission over. As you were.
P.S. The name-calling is awesome.

You can simply disable the software update from settings => Apps => All.
One more thing you can disable any stock softwares* if you don't want..
This is feature available only on ICS , its not require root access
Exchange 2010 does not work here.. anybody with the same issues ?
your posts are about the only ones i care about when new ICS leaks arrive. saves me the time of trying myself. although it seems the rom quality is getting at a point where i might give it a try...
thanks for your detailed reports, looking forward for the next one!
I see that they have removed the option where you can set the softkeys backlight to light up only in dark environments...was my favourite, the most efficient, i don't like the other solutions...
Another thing: in display settings - dynamic mode looks weird in this rom, try that, edges become fuzzy...was fine on GB and, again, was my favourite
Last note: touchscreen feels a bit less sensitive to me, sometimes it doesn't register my touches, anyone?
hi guys, lockscreen works with you? when i lock and unlock screen the lockscreen does not appear. and home button doesn t work. same feedback there?

Great summary at the beginning! I did a slightly less thorough quick test ...
A few extra points:
* "Software" update still cannot be set up - not a problem/surprise, but unlike the last build settings->apps->software->update is greyed out (also failed to disable with titanium)
* I've had one "system UI has stopped" - though I was doing a lot of things at once (setup)
* Settings->data usage now correctly breaks down by application
* All my apps (free and paid for) auto-restored from google
* The browser defaults to fixed (bright) brightness, not auto brightness (is this a change?)
* The contacts app has a new welcome screen reminding user to swipe right to make a call, left for a text
Thanks again for this thread dude
Thanks you. I love your detailed reviews!

(ROM) Abridged for Music

Preeminently, I have always wanted to contribute to the Eris community. This is my first rom, although don't assume I'm adept at this specific criteria. It is based off CyanogenMod, without it this would have never happened. From what I recall, there was a thread that stated a rom should be made for the Eris as music player.
Hence I felt I should contribute since I had leisure time. So I removed all the applications that would intrude to make the Eris a pure mp3 player.
I bring to you the Abridged Rom.
I removed vexing signal bars in the status bar.
It is ICS themed.
Holo launcher, which is surreal to the ICS launcher.
Holo locker, it is relevant to Jelly Bean lock screen.
Battery script by Decad3nce = XDA. To activate, go to Terminal Emulator, type su for superuser permission; then type batt-cfg.
To make the launcher load smoother, press "Menu" then "Launcher Settings", go to "Desktop Settings" then tick "Wallpaper Scrolling" off.
If the Android lock screen intercedes with the Holo Locker application, got to Holo Locker then turn it "off" then "on".
Got the keyboard to work, just got to Settings>Language & Keyboard> Select Language> (choose) English (United States). That's if you prefer that language.
(Latest release, in the Beats column)

Beats Rom
Initial Release:
Update 8/13/2012
Update 8/19/2012
Okay, for some peculiar and vague reason 2shared thrashed my links, they do not work. I have deleted those builds, I have no idea why. Though I have preserved some not all. (I feel ashamed). I will upload them in my Skydrive, thus never having to worry about anything being deleted or any obstructions.
Only this bottom one works
Update 11/19/2012: http://www.2shared.com/file/V-S7YChm/HTC-Eris-Beats9.html
Skydrive (Including remnants of my builds)
Update 6/10/2013: https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=C77A9B2B559BD0CD!105&authkey=!AHSqdyLCF9IGm4Y
From my "Copy.com" cloud storage
Update 6/10/2013: https://copy.com/e6LQelLOusIN
Newest is called HTC Eris Beats 11, I presume, enjoy.
(Now I come to realize that once you sign into Google Play, force closes will concur. Unfortunately up until now I could not fix, it could be evaded by not registering Google Play or if you have registered already then just disable sync in "Settings>Accounts&Sync" I apologize for any inconvenience "
No need to flash gapps.
Just wipe dalvik x3 then wipe data.
Then flash.
Extraneous Post
Update!
cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-desirec, enjoy
Updated the market once again; and a few minor tweaks as well.
Same concept as the predating release.
Enjoy.
Beats column just a modification in the system to have better sound, discrepant from the original Abridged Rom; same base, everything. Just the Beats Audio is irrelevant to the initial.
(MOD)Beats Audio(2.3+up) by RockoDev; credit to him. It was referred by Izeltokatl, thanks.

Just give me a little bit since I accidentally ran the battery into the ground. I want to give it enough charge so it doesn't die half way through boot.
Just giving it a little break in. Not bad.
Although, I seem to have created a slight issue here, where I doubled the lockscreens.

I'm assuming the ICS themed lockscreen runs independently of the normal lockscreens?
EDIT: I figured it out. I missed a line about Holo locker in your instructions.

Actually, this might be a ROM that sticks around on mine for awhile. I do like how you stripped most of the phone functionality out so I don't have all that additional clutter (and possibly saving RAM? I haven't really investigated that). But hey for your first ROM, this seems to working pretty well.

From what I see it does save RAM, which is crucially vital to the Eris, not only that battery durability excrescences dramatically. Which is very desirable for anyone.
I am the guy that wanted a ROM that turned the Eris into a music player. Having attempted to use TheMP3Rom, and found that it doesn't work, I am glad you made this. I am downloading it and trying it now. You have my thanks for making this happen, and I hope that the development cycle on this lasts a while, because even just the thread on that other rom is dead.
Just to clarify, that command for the battery script is "su batt-cfg" and not "su" followed by "batt-cfg" right?
Also, LOVE the boot animation. Best one I've seen. Also also, what version of CM is it based on?
Oh, one more to try on my trusty eris. I should find the beats hacks and post here, would make a fine addition to this Rom. It should work as its generic enough to work on my touchpad.

Did you mean this? I think it only works with Sense ROMs. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314471

having ordained this ROM as to what i have perceived it to be, i doth proclaim that this ROM is awesome!! :highfive:
i decided to break out the old eris to use as a spare TiVo remote around the house, and i stumble across this! great job, this is exactly what i needed to bring the eris back into rotation.
certain apps don't seem to be getting proper root access or working with superuser correctly. i don't expect to use the phone for anything other than as a TiVo remote, occasional music player, and spontaneous google searches, so i won't be using many apps that NEED root access... but that's the only "issue" i've come across. great work!

I brought an assumption that hardly nobody would try it, but I was equally mistaken.

Sorry for my insouciance to not get on XDA; thanks for the response and my apologies for not remembering your name.
The script is "su" for superuser permission then "batt-cfg" to execute it.
About to release an update, but this version I assume it is cm-7-20120722-NIGHTLY-desirec.
Furthermore, this will get updates, not to worry.
This is what I used on my touchpad, with cm9.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226
And this one works too, I used both at the same time.

I'm sorry if I intruded with your conversation with Super_Dork_42; this seems very nice. Not only that, as your predating statement, that this would be a great appendage to this rom; I might implement this . Also, thanks for your cooperation in introducing this. :highfive:
My Tracks
Thanks, Spartan, for a great little ROM! I just pulled the Eris out hoping to revive it as a companion for my bike. Works great for music - sleek & fast - however something is blocking Goggle My Tracks from installing. Not sure what it is...it installs on other GB ROMs. I tried both installing from the market (the app doesn't show up), and by sideloading the APK. No dice. Any help appreciated.

Those mods are for CM9 so you'll have to make the next one CM9 based if that's possible in order to use them.
As far as I recall, one link provided for CM9 and the other for 2.3 and further.
