[Q] Stop certain notifications from vibrating? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This problem might go beyond the G2 itself, but I'm hoping someone has an answer. I want my phone to vibrate when things like emails or text messages come in, so I have vibrate enabled in the overall LG UI settings menu.
I do not want my phone to vibrate every single time I get a message on Google Hangouts, although I do want a notification in my top bar. I have notifications on in the hangout settings and vibrate disabled, but it seems that the overall UI vibrate on notification setting is overriding the application preference and making it vibrate anyways.
Anyone know what the best way is to handle this? Do I need to disable the overall setting and only enable it in certain apps? Or will the overall disable override everything too and then I won't get any notifications?

I have this exact same problem. Did you ever figure out a solution

Per contact SMS notifications

I've just switched over from a blackberry, and I absolutely LOVE this phone. However my main pet-peeve (other than the battery) is the lack of per contact SMS sounds. I get SMS notifications when one of my servers at work has an issue and basically need to be able to override vibrate settings as well as a custom sound from this particular contact. I was curious if there was anything like this available.
Thanks in advance.
Look for SMSPopUp in the Market. I believe it allows you to set individual notification tones.
you could also try handcent or chompsms, they all allow this. Just make sure you turn off notification in the default app or you'll be getting double notifications.
This is great! Thank you.
Best of all its open source, so I can add the features im missing, such as overriding silent/vibrate (if at all possible)

[Q] Vibrate on new text msg when vibration is on ONLY in Sound Settings

Just shifted to Android 4.3 on a Nexus 4 after years of using Symbian. Learning loads of stuff and loving most of it.
However there is one thing that I sorely miss:- The ability to control sound and vibration notifications through "Profiles". I installed a nifty little app called 'Settings Extended' with which I can control these notifications quite easily.
The problem is that these settings seem to apply only to Calls and not Text messages.
First off, I have kept the vibration notification 'unchecked' in the stock messaging app because I don't want it to vibrate everytime I receive a text.
Next I change the Sound Settings to enable both sound and vibration notification. Here I expect the phone to Ring+Vibrate for both Calls and Text messages..just like in Nokia phones. Sadly this does not happen apparently because vibration is OFF in the stock messaging app.
So now I'm in a fix. If I enable vibration in the messaging app, the phone will vibrate for new texts even when I don't want it to and on disabling it I run the risk of missing the notification sound or blinking LEDs for that matter.
I have tried 3rd party apps like GoSMS and Handcent where they have an additional feature to enable vibration notification for text messages only when "Phone is set to Vibrate". The problem here is that the phone should be in "Vibration mode" i.e only vibration is enabled and sound is disabled for the app to give a vibration notification on new messages. When both sound and vibration are enabled under Sound settings, no vibration notification is produced.
This is really bugging me. Seems unnecessary complication of simple tasks to me. I have searched the net for a solution and although have found few people having the same problem, I haven't come across a solution yet. So now I turn to XDA because I know that if a solution exists, it can only be found here.
Thnaks to anyone who had the patience to go through this post!

How can I disable vibrations for some apps, but enable for others?

I can't seem to make this work. I know that there is a per-app setting for vibrating notifications. The main apps I use are the LG stock SMS app, Google Hangouts, GroupMe and GMail. I want SMS and GMail to vibrate, and I do not want Hangouts or Groupme to vibrate (because of high message volume). I do want all of the apps to be allowed to create notifications and turn on the LED notification light -- just not vibrate. Right now it seems like ALL notifications are set to vibrate. Btw my phone is in vibrate mode, where all ringtones and alert tones are off. How can I achieve this?

[Q] Is it possible to have vibrate on for ringtone and off for notification?

The volume control and vibration control on this phone is much less customizable than I would like.
Vibration mode turns everything to vibrate, but I get vibration notifications for emails as well as text and everything else. I would like it just to vibrate for ringtones and text if possible.
On my old phone I was able to turn off vibration for notifications and leave my gosms to do the vibration for the text, but it seems like there is no way to turn off vibration for notifications and leave it on for ringtone on this phone.
Has anyone found a way to turn the vibration for notifications OFF in vibration mode? While still leaving vibration ON for ringtones?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

settings>sound> go to the samsung applications section, you can adjust everything individually there... call, messages, email, calander
Yeah try this man like what evil posted settings>sound> go to the samsung applications section, you can adjust everything individually there... call, messages, email, calander
does this allow me to have diff settings for different profiles? I want the sound off for everything but vibrate on for everything but only when set to VIBRATE mode, but when I change to Sound mode, I dont want any notification to vibrate and I want sounds to play for everything, can I do that without having to go into each individualapp setting and changing it?

I tried this but it still vibrates when I receive an email. I'm using Gmail and have the setting for vibrate off in the Gmail app. Does anyone know a secondary app that can control all the notifications other than light flow? I'd even use something like that to fix it. I just want it to vibrate for phone calls when in vibrate mode. Have you guys been able to turn off other vibrations with the method suggested?

Do Not Disturb blocking visual notifications too?

For starters, I am not a Do Not Disturb fan. This is an extremely overbuilt solution for a problem that did not exist. Simply having a toggle for silent/vibrate/ring is all that is needed. But now that Google has forced this on us, I need to make it work for me as best possible.
I have already tried numerous apps that do the silent/vibrate/ring. They all work relatively well, but when each put it into 'silent' mode, it engages Do Not disturb. Which is fine, except that it stops me from receiving visual notifications. By this I mean, my notification drawer does not show me notifications. This is not universal, some do get by, but for the most part it stops me from getting my normal Gmail, hangouts etc messages unless I go manually checking for them.
Has anybody found a work around? I need silent mode for many scenarios, but I am still utilizing the phone. These notifications are important to me.
Thanks.
have you set each apps notification setting(s) to 'treat as priority' ?
Unfortunately if I do that, then the audible alarms will come through as well and I cannot have that. I wondering if it's not the do not disturb but in fact the doze feature? I'm seeing that Gmail is not syncing as often as normal. Perhaps the 2 combined?
I would flash a rom that restored silent mode and removed dnd
