MF9 TriForceROM 3.1 Freezes and Restarts - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I upgraded to TriForce ROM 3.1 after installing the 3.0 Rom on my Sprint Galaxy S4 but I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem as I am. Sometimes my phone will freeze and then restarts itself. This can happen at anytime, I might be in the middle of a call when it will happen or I might not be doing anything and when it happens. It anyone else experiencing this problem and if so, is there any fix for it.

The fix might be to post in a few more threads....
But seriously, things like that are usually kernel related.
Try another kernel (maybe even stock) and start out without kernel tweaks - like undervolting or OC.

Okay. I have re-flashed the Rom but I selected the stock kernel this time. I have not had any issues with it so far and I will let you know after some days.

[Q] Which ROM would you recommend?

Hello,
I am trying to flash a better ROM for my sister's Galaxy 3, currently the one came with the phone is super laggy and slow. I am coming from the X10 Mini Pro forum, and we only have like 3 custom ROM there, but it seems Galaxy 3 have quite a lot more choices...
I am wondering which one is the currently most stable ROM here that have the lag issue fixed? I flash my X10 quite often, but i don't plan on flash and re-flash my sister's phone. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
i would recommend jpm+jit enabled.....
i am cureently using the same....and i am quite happy with it....
I am a advance user, like i said, i flash my X10 pretty much every time the xda developer come out with a hotfix or a newer version of their ROM, the current ROM that i am running on my X10 have stuff like hybrid Foyo/Gingerbread, overclock, undervolt, jit etc. Is not 100% stable, and i need to force close some stuff once in a while, but i have no problem with it.
I don't mind flashing a custom ROM, as long as one of its release is stable (since this will be for my sister's phone, which is a noob).
However, won't the "stock XXJPM or JPN" still have the lag issue though? I thought all the OEM ROM have the lag issue?

hmm... i really tought it was stable... then you can make your own custom rom via Team Lambent Corrosion kitchen and if you want ROM without problems, a "buggless beast" then dont flash any ROMs
I suggest it too, it has Fugumod, the latest firmware and some bug fixes...

Shouldn't you be plugging your own ROM?
That aside, I think stock JPM will do her a treat. Or then deodexed + JIT + Fugutweaks. The camera is an issue pretty much in every rom and it can be avoided by disabling the location stuff. Or it could be someone has a fixed Camera.apk laying around somewhere. If so, let me know, I want it.

no i was thinking that destiny might be the most stable ROM here and thats why i suggested it and as i said EVERY rom has bugs but i tought destiny didnt... and people should just try GreenMods ROM i dont want to say its the best, i know when people test it they will love it i dont have to recommend it

Hum.. i know X10 Mini Pro's ROM has Camera.apk that came with it, and works, but i prefer the Sony Ericsson's SECMCamera.apk instead. So i swapped it out. I wonder if that Camera.apk would work on Galaxy 3...
I think i will try to download and gather up the above mentioned 2 ROMs, and try it out this weekend then...

Neutrino Rom cannot wake up after a long period of idle

I am currently at Neutrino rom V2.5p2 GT
my phone have some problem that it cannot wake up after a long period of idle, such as EVERYDAY I wake up in the morning but I cannot wake my phone up. I have to pull my battery off and back in to reboot the device. This problem made me fail to receive morning calls for a whole week.
I am using Juicedefender, but not sure if it is the cause of problem.
Since this is the first custom rom I flash and I love Neutrino, but I think stability is a must to me. Are the V2.5p2 EE or V2.2 having a better stability? should I try them? or any patch can fix this problem?
Thank you so much!
same as u with 2.5p2 ee
wait for the next build
Sleep of death as its known, not always rom specific many of us experience it on different roms under different loads under different situations.
There's a few of us trying to track down the underlying problem, but at the moment we are all trying out different things which some work for people and not others
so agreed with the above just wait for the next build maybe that will work for you.

Like i've said in the Neutrino thread - it's a CM7 bug that was present in the original weekly.
Flash the 023 kernel, wipe dalvik, reboot.
023 seems to have fixed the problem for me. Going through a second day without random reboots, sleep of death.
Link to the kernel can be found in the faux dev thread, but it's also in my sig.
I think my phone must be hate custom ROMs because it have SOD for Jokersax and Turl CM9 as well as Neutrino ROM. Did flash some faux kernel but solve nothing. Still running Jokersax CM9 although SOD simply because of ICS. My own opinion, don't try CM9 unless you are ready to stay with it until official release.

I didn't enable wifi. Just using data plan. The setting for 'Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep' is Always as default.
I'm using N_01.100.00R baseband, could it be the issue? Any baseband recommend to use in Asia?
I follow what Jokersax said, format /system, wipe user data, wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM. I manage to flash every single ROM and boot normally. Weird.

I am using the default ATT baseband N_01.77.30P.
But from my experience, the reboot / sleep of death issue is most definitely related to WiFi.
Try setting Wifi sleep to "off when the screen is off" and switching to 023 kernel.
Haven't had any issues with this set up in the last 2 days.

Read from other thread with the workaround solution by installing Load Monitor or Wake Lock to prevent phone to go into deep sleep and fail to wake up. Now my phone run at 216Mhz instead of deep sleep when screen off. So far no SOD experience yet. But don't know how my battery life ink this case. Will update again after more observation.
[edit] no luck for load monitor. Get a SOD after 2 hours. Trying wake lock now. So far 6 hours no SOD. Will keep update.

I flashed the 023 1.3GHz kernal and the SOD disappeared last night!
I think the 023 1.0GHz kernal also work
I will observe for a few more days and report it here
Neutrino V2.6 GT and GT+ comes with 023 Kernel. It might solve the SOD as well. Downloaded. Will try it now..

I think the problem is solved with the 023 kernal! 2 days after flashing with no problem even set the wifi to be always on.
I think V2.6 EE version is worth trying since it include the CM7 kernal and claimed to have amazing battery efficient! But the V2.6 version introduced Launcherpro and many changes so I am not going to change it at this point, maybe a few days later.
Can I just flash the V2.6 stock CM7 kernal on my V2.5p2?
where can I find that CM7 kernal???

Why would you want the 2.6 kernel on 2.5p2?
For me 023 fixed the SOD issues.
Anyway, if you want to try the 2.6 kernel, download the rom, extract boot.img from the archive and flash it via fastboot, wipe dalvik, reboot.
If i were you, I would switch to 2.6 entirely. Haven't had any SODs in the past 24 hours since flashing.

Flashed V2.6 GT and no SOD so far, but Play Store keep FC. Now revert back to CM9 Jokersax v0.4.1 with wake lock to keep my CPU on when screen off. No SOD for 2 days, but battery only can stay around 10hrs.

[Q] Bluetooth Streaming with Cyanogenmod 10.1 - short breaks

Hi guys,
I use Cyanogenmod 10.1 shortly after I bought my Nexus 10 and had these reboots the whole time.
Usually I update once or twice a week to the current nightlys (depending on the changelog).
A problem I have from the beginning (with CM): When I stream music with Google Music to a Logitech Bluetooth receiver it works. But every 20-30 seconds I have a litte break in the playback. On my Galaxy S2 also with CM 10.1 I never had this problem.
What I did to solve the problem. Today I installed the stock Nexus 10 4.2.2 from Google and tried to reproduce the error. It worked fine. No problem at all.
Then I completely wiped the Nexus 10 again and installed the current nightly - from the scratch. Just installed Google Music and did a test. The same bluetooth problem again.
Ah and when I use a bluetooth keyboard the keyboard also loses connection time and again. Here the problem is even worse. When I´m are in web form the page gets reloaded and all I entered so far is gone...
Has anybody an idea?
I´m willing to give you all the information you need to help me (logcats etc.)
Thanks in advance
Marrtin

Hmm - and where can I get the stock kernel from? Off course I found the whole stock firmware. But just the kernel out of it? And does this work together with CM?

You can. :good:
If you download and unzip the official rom package from google, you will find another zip inside. Extract that, and you will see a different rom for each partition of your nexus 10. boot.img is the kernel, and it can be flashed from fastboot using command "fastboot flash boot boot.img".
Thanks,
EDIT: If the KTManta kernel doesn't suffer bluetooth streaming issues for anyone else, flashing it instead of stock should serve as an equally good test. The original reason I mentioned flashing the stock kernel is because I too have seen bluetooth streaming issues, both with CM10 and when using the stock rom with franko r12 kernel. I'm now running completely stock rom and kernel, and have no issues.

[Q] TouchWiz ROMS not turning wifi on

Hey guys, firstly, Ive searched for this problem EVERYWHERE but I havent found a solution. Ive searched within the threads of the ROMS I flashed and found no solution either. So basically my problem is that, everytime I flash a TouchWiz ROM, I can never turn on the wifi. I press the wifi button at the setup/startup screen and it flashes on then off. This problem has happened with the Intrinsic and TriForce ROMS. I am on the Sprint carrier also. I perform all the necessary steps preflashing, resetting all my data and what not. Any JellyBean based ROMS, the wifi or the ROMS themselves havent been a problem. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Jesus I hate to be the guy but you did not search very well. This has been answered a dozen times by now. But glad you got it working.
