Hey guys!
I need yoyr help. My phone was dead since march 11. I don't remember what I'm done with it, but the following symptoms are:
- when I turn on the phone nothing exept Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung screen is showed.
- when I turn phone to download mode and connect it with my computer, nothing happens,no notifications, device manager nothing shows, I once showed: one of your devices has malfunction.
What should I do? USB plug is broken? My other phone have no problem with this MicroUSB cable from samsung and it's connecting to computer without any problems.
Edit:
I plug cable with turning on download mode. Now computer shows: one of your device has malfunction. DM error loop?
UP Please! Same problem!
Just can access download mode, but my PC doesn't recognise it.
It got stuck in the first logo and I can't access Recovery.

yep, I was checked this thing. And this is not helpful. Yes, have few good ideas but for my case... nothing I can use... Main reason: My computer don't show me any alerts or messages after plug in mUSB to phone...
I solved my problem. What I did was to use another PC, then just installed the Samsung drivers, plugged the phone in download mode and the the driver installed OK.
Odin recognised the phone too so I could flash a kernel.
I can't realize why my PC didn't recognize the phone. I tried reinstalling drivers, the android SDK but nothing worked.
Thanks for the answers.

And IF nothing worked and USB connection still fails no matter what, than it would be best to look into this
I've googled and searched everywhere for this, but no luck. I got the S4 yesterday (AT&T) and i went through the steps to turn on developer options for the new 4.2.2 jellybean to get access to the USB debugging option. I turn USB debugging on and hook it up to my computer and it will not install the ADB interface driver (needed for PDAnet). The phone connects as if USB debugging is not turned on saying "connected as a media device" and keeps giving me the option on the computer to access storage. Anyone or everyone else having this problem?

Did you install the drivers? Did you have the phone connected when you enabled it? If so disconnect and reconnect.

I did the same thing and it worked for me tho..
Also, you may want to check your phone's screen after you connect it to the computer. I had to "accept" my computer's RSA key before adb could detect the device.

I've done everything and tried everything I know to. I have restarted the computer, the phone, enabled and disabled usb debugging while it's connected to the pc and no conncected. I've installed the drivers PDAnet says to, but still my phone connects as if usb debugging is not on (says connected as media and pc doesn't recognize and install the adb driver). Is there anything I'm missing?

All I did was install install the S4 drivers from Samsung. Enabled USB Debugging. Plugged it into the computer. Waited for the drivers to finish setting up. Disconnected and reconnected again just to make sure drivers were loaded. And launched ADB. Nothing else.
Edit: Oh almost forgot. I got a message on the phone saying something about a computer trying to connect do you allow it. I hit always allow or something. Sorry don't remember exactly was too long ago. That is probably it because if you weren't watching the screen you wouldn't see it.
Edit2: LOL just saw captawsm's post. Yes what he said.

You guys on AT&T? I never got that message. I know nothing ever popped up like that. Did you get the actual driver from Samsung website for your phone? I just tried installed the one pdanet offered.

I did not install any other drivers tho..it was all default but it did ask me to confirm the computer's RSA key
Hallelujah! I finally got it working! It must of been a driver install quirk on my pc. For anyone else with this prob who used a previous phone with pdanet on the same pc like I did ( I used a samsung infuse prior). I went and uninstalled the samsung drivers that were already on my pc and then went to the samsung site and installed the newest ones they had. Hooked the phone back up and after about 6 or 7 seconds (have no idea why it took so long) the drivers on the pc started installing again and cha ching usb debugging was working correctly. The RSA thing popped up after that.
Thanks guys for assuring me it was only my problem and not a mass-wide problem to make me troubleshoot further.
I've been having the same problem but can't seem to find the drivers on the Samsung website. Could you please post the link?

If your computer recognized (and installs drivers) when your S4 is connected via usb (not in developer mode) but does NOT recognize your S4 when connected with USB debugging this is what you might need to do. It took me 2.5 hours to find this.
Remember to have your phone set to MTP + ADB mode.
to do this:
in phone mode type *#0808#
Choose : AP on upper part and
for USB Setting, choose : MTP.

When it's in the download mode it may show up in a different location in the device manager and be listed only as "android".
Do you hear any sound from the computer when you plug it in when in download mode?
What does your download screen look like?
Once these questions are answered, there may be a solution. Hopefully a CDMA device won't be different

there are two possibilities.. First, your phone is already hard bricked.. second is, your battery is absolutely dead with no power left...
Well, Have you tried to check the battery itself?

ok, so have you tried it using different PC or laptop?
(last option if nothing else to try) if you want to check the battery :
DIY remove the case ( there are several tutorials in youtube, but of course, do it with your own risk)

It's not hard bricked/
Getting into download mode proves this.
You must get your computer to recognize your device in order to communicate with it. So I would not consider anything else until that is accomplished. PERIOD!
1. Are you using a USB 2.0 port? usb 3.0 will not work a lot of the time. (Important)
2. Have you tried another usb cable?
3. I think we discussed the drivers, I have them if needed
What operating system are you using?
If nothing here helps we can we can use "TeamViewer 9" which will give me control of your computer to help resolve this issue...

Tap on the "Charging mode" notification when your USB is connected and you'll get a pop-up that let's you select MTP mode.
Alternatively you can go to Device Manager and look for any error icons (think they're yellow triangles - been a while since I used a PC). Right click and uninstall all the offending ones, the disconnect and reconnect your device via USB.

In a lot of MM roms, you have to go in to developer options and select MTP under 'MTP configuration' in there. Even if it's selected already, tap it again and it should pop up asking what to do when device is connected on the pc. $5 says that does the trick. Easy but surprisingly tough one. One other problem I'm running into lately with the new windows 10 is that it has driver signing enabled by default and often rejects the driver you install or just doesn't use it even if it's installed. So if the driver is the problem (or more accurately windows 10 is refusing to acknowledge the installed driver), you might need to disable driver signing enforcement. Here's a link how to do that: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

Hello, I have SM G930V encountered such a problem. I want to update to 7.0 but when I transfer the phone to the bootloader and connect usb in the task manager on the drivers it weighs the exclamation mark! I tried different drivers but without successful in Odin does not show com port! What do I need help?
Ok, going to take a crack at this. If you have the drivers installed, when your phone is plugged into the pc, delete the exclamation mark, unplug your phone and plug it back in.
Should install the drivers.

It sounds like he plugged his phone in to the computer prior to installing the drivers, so it's now installed as an unknown device.
Windows won't search for updated drivers until the unknown device is either deleted, or he goes in and manually updates the drivers from the device manager.
Deleting it and letting windows install is by far the easiest way to accomplish this.
I know my replies can be long, but would rather give too much info, than not enough.
