Is your SD card partitioned ? If not, this is normal from Link2SD.
Your problem is that your SD card is not mounted at all (no /storage/ExtSdCard folder).
Did you try your SD card with another device ?
Unfortunately, some users report problems with ScanDisk SD Cards on Samsung devices, it may also come from the brand.

thanks for answering
I dont think my SD card is partitioned.. i mean I have never changed/ created anything.. should it b partitioned automatically or i should change something? cuz i havent changed anything..
so anyway, how do I partition my sd card?
thank you very much
SD card partition is made with a Partition wizard tool on a PC with memory card reader. You can also use CWM recovery.
SD card partition erases the whole content of the SD card, so be sure to make a backup before.
For low end devices with few internal memory, it can be useful to create a 2nd partition on the SD card to link applications into it and save place in internal memory (link2SD does it perfectly).
But for our devices, i'm not sure this is useful because internal storage is quite big already.
You can still move applications on the SD card with link2SD (it does not need 2dn SD card partition to work anyway) :
select the app in the list, then select "move to SD card"

I have the Optimus V and the 2GB micro SD that came with it. I want to swap to a new 8GB micro SD so that I can put more music on it. I've got a bunch of apps on the card (more than the internal memory can hold) in an ext3 partition using Link2SD. I'm running the 8/10 build of pure IHO/CM7.1 RC.
I think I can do it this way but I wanted to get some confirmation:
1.) Boot into recovery
2.) Make a backup (which I can confirm does back up the ext3 partition)
3.) Swap cards and partition the new SD card using recovery
4.) Copy all files from the old SD card's FAT32 partition to the new SD card's FAT32 partition using my SD reader on my PC
5.) Put the new card in the phone, boot to recovery, and restore
I think that'll put everything back where it belongs, but I would just like someone to confirm that for me. Thanks!
Should work. Would personally use gparted or similar to clone and resize the SD card partitions on PC.
Oh, yeah, gparted. I forgot i could get a livecd for that.
Question, though - if I use gparted to clone, I need to have both cards installed at the same time, right? I only have one SD/microSD reader (it has both slots but I can only use one slot or the other at a time, so I can't use one card in a micro-to-SD adapter). Can I use USB storage for one card and the reader for the other?
Never tried this. I have tons of SD card -> USB adapters around.

I started to play around with the sdrom today but when i try to download app/take a photo.
No sdcard is found. Do i need to set up a ext3orext4 on the sd card?? Would the rom just find the ext3orext4 dir?? Whats the best method
You just need to have your SD card partitioned for WP7 and Android. Since the ROM is running off the SD card, I'd assume it should regconize it right away. Try a reboot if you haven't, or mounting SD card in settings if it shows it as being there, but not mounted [ I doubt it, but it's worth looking at].
Its strange, in storage under SD CARD it says 'insert an SD card for mounting'
WHEN, its got to be inserted, as the ROM is running on the SD Card partition. It shows over a 1GB of space in internal storage? Think i will try a fresh install of the Android ROM. WP7 is running fine.

Going to install a cwm partition which matches rom, i think this will fix the issue.

I don't know why you are getting issues with photos and stuff, but your SD ROM is running fine. Android SD cannot mount the SD card as Android is running off the SD card. The 1gb internal storage is the data.img file in the 'Android' folder which is read as your internal storage by Android. I wouldn't mess around with CWM, it won't solve anything for SD Android and may result in you deleting WP7 if I'm not mistaken (but if you already have CWM installed then I am very much mistaken)
Not sure if it helps, but did you set both WP7 and Fat32 partitions as "Primary" when you set up the card? (use minitool partition magic)
Hi,
I got a Galaxy Y from a friend and I was trying to MOD it. I discovered that the internal SD is not available... and no way to get it back. I tried to wipe data, hard reset, stock firmware upload with ODIN but no way to get the internal SD back. I tried ADB in order to try to push the ZIP files in a ROM folder but of course no permissions as it's not rooted.
So, no way to root my mobile without copying the files to the SD?
Thanks in advance
Joe
I dont know what you mean by internal sd - galaxy y 5360/6102 doesnt have internal sd - it uses a mico sd card to which you will find the slot if you take the cover off and look on the right hand side of the phone
place any files you want on the sd card either via card reader or usb cable
please note that questions should be asked in the question and answer section and NOT the general section

Thanks Marcus,
I did not know the mobile had no internal SD.
That's the kind of information that saves a lots of time and work!
Thanks again.

Ok,
I tried to use a Miscro SD on the GT-S5360 but there was no way to have it acccepted by the phone.
I formatted the Micro SD (Sandisk 2G) in many ways (full formatting) and it was mounted OK with all my other phones (Galaxy S, LG L5II, Huawei) but not for the Galaxy Y. I tried to format the card with the other Samsung too but it did not work..
I've read a lot around about the "blank SD" issue on many mobiles and tried some of the suggested tricks but with no luck.
So, assuming there is no way to have a MicroSD installed on the phone, I resume the original question:
- Is there any way to root the GT-S5630 without an SD card?
Thanks in advance
Joe
well unless your sd card slot is damaged there should be no reason why it shouldnt work
the sd card needs to be formatted in fat32
there best way to do it is to inset your sd card into your phone
goto phone settings
storage
unmount sd card (sd must be unmounted before you can format it)
format sd card
you can also format it via your pc using a card reader as long as its fat32 but its best to format it using the phone or format it again using the phone as sometimes cwm may have problems mounting the sd card if you use something else to format it
You might find universal root tools via google but the quickest most simple way is just to use a root zip file and flash it in recovery or cwm

Thanks Marcus, your replies are very quick .
I tried formatting the SD card FAT32 with different Allocation unit sizes, always full formatting, never quick.
The SD card is recognized as BLANK SD CARD (or unsupported filesystem) when inserted with the phone ON. The same occurs when I switch ON the phone with the SD card alredy inserted. The card is never mounted
The internal formatting functionality of the phone seems to be not working at all. The function FORMAT SD CARD is enabled but when launched it lasts just few seconds and nothing happens (the card is not mounted neither automatically nor by hand).
There could be some compatibility issues between the card and the phone and it could be worth to buy another SD to test the phone card reader again, but I'm not confident it will work.
Phone specs
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband: S5360XXMC2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXMI1
Thanks again

allocation unit size is I think 16 kilobytes but just select default - quick format is fine if the card is not damaged
you can try using mini tool to delete the partition on the sd card and create a new one and format it to fat32
you can then try reformatting it on your phone after
Mini Tool Download

Thanks for your help Marcus,
I tried MiniTool, with both FAT and FAT32 (the card is a 2GB card) but the result is still the same: BLANK SD CARD.
I will try to buy a new one tomorrow and see if it makes any difference...
Thanks again

Ok I got a new MicroSD today and everything seems to work fine.
Thanks again Marcus.

Hello
I own Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 and it is rooted. I recently purchased a class 10 Sandisk Micro SD card with 64 GB capacity. I was very happy that I did but my happiness did not last long when I have come to know that 3rd party apps do not have write permission in Kitkat. After some research I was successful to make the SD card writable to 3rd party apps by modifying the permissions.xml file.
Everything seems to be fine at this time but it was not actually. The SD card when seen under storage in settings would show me that it is mounted with 62.5 GB capacity and 60 GB free. But when I try to browse the files in SD card, there are nothing. Apps saved in SD card do not open and I am also unable to capture images from camera to SD card storage.
I thought may be unmounting the SD card and mounting it back would work and it worked but after a while the same problem. My device shows that it has mounted an SD card but cannot access anything saved in it. So, I have to unmount and mount SD card every time and this is very much annoying.
Any help regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you for your time.

Is thd s.d exfat format ? Try to format from win p.c. and see if it's works.if yes ,try in the phone.if not
try folder mount from play store.not all the app works on external s.d.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes. It is Ex FAT format. Which format should I format it to? Ex FAT or just the FAT format.
It is not about applications. The card just gets undetected after some time and nothing can be accessed including music and images. I have to unmount it and mount again for the device to detect the SD card.
Format your SD Card on your phone its self. Go to settings, storage and than SD Card and format it.

Hello
I have rooted J5 (2015) with stock marshmallow 6.0.1 (rom installed manually via odin) and i want to use link2sd app. I make 2 partitions FAT32 and ext2 both are primary and FAT32 is a first partition. But link 2 sd dont see second partition. When i make script via link2sd i get message No such file or directory. I try format card and use ext 2 ext3 ext4 formats always that same error. I think that maybye sd card is broken (i have old 2gb card) it can be it?
You need to separate partitions on your SD card, you can do this either by PC (if you have microsd slot) or using an app, i don't remember the name. Those are the ways to make sd card second partition for cache and etc.
But doing that you will just slow your phone down
What do you mean separate? I have two partitions fat32 and ext2
I buy new sd card and wipe my phone, still get error no such file or directory. Can anybody help?
ok i sovle my problem by using other app. Apps2SD create aplications link with sd card
