Headphone jack not working - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So my headphone jack isn't working. My phone doesn't detect anything going in it. Bluetooth and the speaker work but no jack output... Just started doing it a few hours ago randomly. You can't break a headphone jack can you? I mean, realistically? I didn't do anything out of the ordinary to cause it.

Try blowing it out with compressed air. Happens every once in a while with mine when it gets crud in it.

Yep. Also use something like a paper clip to get the dust out - it apparently happens all the time unfortunately

Found it. Used a toothpick and got out some lint. Never foresaw that happening haha

Sorry for digging up a old thread, I recently inserted head phones in the jack of my new xt907 for the first time and it worked perfectly but I faced issues after removing the same - like phone used to hang while playing videos/audio and speaker/loud speaker was working intermittently during calls. I factory reset the phone twice but the problem was never sorted out, then yesterday I observed that the above problems were not present when I used the headphones, I inserted the head phone pin into the jack and rotated it for 2 to 3 rounds and now the problem is gone.
Just wanted to check up anyone else had this problem.

Broken speaker??

Ok, I have too many issues to my nexus 7 to even talk about, but I had really bad screen lift, and I took the back cover off to tighten the screws, and try a few other methods to fix it. Screen lift got better, but now only one of my speakers plays sound, I have tried 3 pairs of headphones, and only the right speaker works in all 3 pairs. These same headphones work fine in my nexus 4 and gnex.
I have issues with files/settings resetting/dispearing as well, but I'm confused as to why only one speaker, and one headphone will play?

Its obviously something wrong with your headphone jack.
You could have messed up the wiring when you removed the back or it could be something as simple as some dust stuck inside the headphone jack.
Look inside the headphone jack and see if you can see anything. Maybe get some keyboard cleaner and blow it out.

Yes, I have tried that but the actually left speaker on my tablet is not working as well, so neither the left speaker on my tablet or the left speaker on any headphones I try work. I'm thinking something in the speaker module controlled headphones mabey?

If it's affecting both, I'd have to guess it's the ribbon cable running down to the lower assembly, per the second frame in the above URL (three pictures, hover over the thumb on the right to switch) .
Might remove that cable and re-insert it. The connector can be a little tricky, see this youtube video:

Ah sorry about that. I'd have to agree with the previous post. Remove the cover and check the ribbon cable. You could have just loosened it up some so that it is not making full connection.

Why not you simply RMA if under warranty , I also had speakers issue , they did it without any trouble.

I have RMAd twice once for the device not turning on, then again because of screen lift, I might just have to do it again.

Speaker stopped working

Hi,
I've had my S4 for about 3 days now and today all of a sudden the rear speaker has stopped working. No sound comes out of it at all, including notifications, screen lock sounds, touch sounds and any other sound. I have restarted multiple times but there is still no sound. If I plug in some headphones then I can hear the sound through them, so the problem seems to be related just to the main speaker.
Please help me
Is it brand new. Can you take it back?
Are you rooted? Flash another ROM?

I wouldn't say a lot, but I do use them for an hour or two every night before I go to bed. I used them briefly for about 10 minutes earlier today but the speaker randomly stopped working a few hours after that.
I think I even heard when the speaker malfunctioned because as I touched the screen the touch sound cut out about half way through, though I thought nothing of it. Only now do I realize that there hasn't been any sound out the speaker since then.
Oh because i had that problem lots of times but its because i had headphones in while i switched the phones off or if it went dead while they were plugged in. Then when i restart the phone without them plugged in the phone still thinks there connected when there not so how i fixed it is that i plugged them in and out really fast. Its worth a try but i doubt it will work in your case

Well nothing I tried worked, so I'm guessing it was a hardware malfunction (my guess is that the speaker blew somehow).
I went back to the store today and they gave me a new S4 with no hassle. Just a little disappointed that I spent all weekend setting it up and customising it and now I have to do it all again.
Heres hoping this one lasts more than 4 days lol.

[Q] Heaphone jack input not recognized

Nothing but speaker. All the time. So, I thought it might be a software issue and factory reset it several times. Its not. Suggestions? Links to inexpensive headphone input replacement parts?
Thanks in advance!

Did you push it in ALL the way? My girlfriends tablet wouldn't play from the jack either until I gave it a really hard push and it snapped in completely. Since then it wasn't as difficult to push in and it works.

Yes. I even plugged it in with the back off to see if the case was preventing full insertion. No dice. Chatted with an Asus rep last night and he said that it sounded like a hardware problem. But out of warranty it would cost me $213 to repair. Since when did these become disposable devices? Sheesh.
Check another headphone or speaker. Mine shows error only when i connect few headsets from Sony and Samsung. Rest are working.

Headphone jack broken?

Hey everyone, so today while walking home, I noticed that one of my headphones wasn't working and I was pretty pissed because I love my headphones, anyways, so I tried my other headphones and experienced the same problem, so I concluded my phone broke. So, I've spent about 20 minutes poking around with it and blowing air into it, and I've managed to get one side working, but the other side isn't. One thing I noticed was that the side which isn't working is the side with the mic and these headphones -do- have the 4th prong. I don't have any 3 prong headphones to test with, so I'm going to go to my friends house and test with his, but does anyone know how to fix this because I love my four-prong headphones because the clicker and they're just awesome. Thanks, all help is appreciated.

if its in warranty, they will fix it.
Rooting and all never matters for hardware damages!
Hmmm, I bought it off craigslist, but it was brand new, do you think warranty applies? And do I call LG(

One sided audio in headphones

Hi guys
For some reason recently when I plug in my headphones I only get sound from one side.
Can anyone guide me on this? Most likely a hardware problem I know.
Does anyone know if I have to get a new jack port, where I could get one from?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Actually, this has happened to me quite a few times. I found it to be a problem with the headphones/earbuds instead of faulty hardware. First, my left audio would disappear, and about a month later, the right audio would follow suit. I believe it's just a problem with cheap earbuds, or at least was in my case.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Hmm I dont think its the ear buds as they work fine in every other thing. I've also tried different ones in the n7
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Have you tried shining a light down the 3.5 jack hole (haha, i said jack hole!) to make sure both the small contacts are sticking out far enough to make contact with the earbuds stem?
