This is the new firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 FTF for Xperia Arc S (lt18i).
It is global version.

CWM recovery method is the only way to root this ROM for now but it works with bootloader unlocked phones only. I have no idea for the locked ones. May be you need to wait for a new version Flashtool or pre-rooted ROM.

Hmm this version doesn't seem to change anything, or anything noticeable at least. Waste of time but atleast its a new firmware.

That's strange, I found it a little faster than the previous one.

In Greece also stuck on 4.0.2.A.0.42. I've updated to .62, but I made a mistake and used the firmware for Arc, not for Arc S, so now I'm downloading the right file. My only hesitation is that I'm on stock kernel and therefore not able to root with .62 firmware, but I hope that this will be soon resolved.

The .62 is MAA, it hase some SlideME market also, the .42 was a Global FW for many countries, the .62 is just minor update to MAA (Middle East and Africa)

I guess the easy way will be get the firmware from the link and flash it using Odin 3.07 it wont affect the warranty etc

And yes u can flash latest country firmware will work just make sure u its for I9500

Yes u can flash other country firmware and still use ur sim card without issue
And after flashing the firmware u can root the best method is CF-AUTO ROOT
And just to be safe take a backup of EFS folder

No thats the only option we get u ll have to use that only it does gve a good speed max it will take a 1.30 hour for download

No you won't be able to unroot for that also u need to put stock firmware and again reset the device from ur phone that will be complete stock without issue

I think you receive OTA for that country,not for your own.

As far as I know am not sure 100% but when you flash another country ROM you will only receive the latest update has been installed

If your ROM have a CSC can use in your country, it'll can update via OTA

Ale-l21 update problems

Hi, I bought an ale-l21 recently, even if bought in Italy from the device IMEI appears to be North Africa, are still the B130 (ale-l21c185b130, dual sim, black) and there are no updates available via OTA, wanted whether there are local updates that I could do and what I should do for my device, will void your warranty if and when an update locally then I will come those OTA

Me too... Still waiting until now... Some testers in UAE and Saoudie and Algeria got it.. Si I hope we will get it SOON..

I'm on a UAE version and I hate it. It locks several times a day. I've factory reset it several times and no change.
I tried to follow the steps for the MM update yesterday only for HATEua to tell me I need to create and login to their website for 14 continuous days before they will give me a code! Disgusting. Never buying a HATEua device again.
If you have a UAE version and the receipt, take it back, NOW.

I've successfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted. Still not had time to flash the phone though, hopefully tonight or this weekend.
Btw, Huawei require you to create an account and login to their website for 14 consecutive days:

You should get the notification, you should be able to download it, but it will not install.

afaik, it will install (OTA fw update) but you will lose your root and recovery. im really not sure tho as i always update thru flashing pre-rooted firmware

It will not install. It will notify that there is some update and it will download it but it will not install as some files in system are changed
