I want to perform a factory reset but i debloat my rom which removed my secsetupwizard.apk..i believe this is the set up screen after factory reset.. Has anyone tried to factory reset without secsetupwizard.apk. Is it safe? Does it boot straigt to home screen or cause persistent error messages like system ui crash??
Do it from recovery ... power+home+volume up button boots u to recovery ... and wipe data/factory reset

I m not a dev but from my knowledge and personal experience i can't see how anything could go wrong with that ... if however after wiping u have problems u could reflash your current rom and u should be fine ...
So i just factory resetted my phone without the secsetupwizard.apk. Had a sysem ui crash on boot but pressing ok after that it never shows up again until next factory reset. So it's nothing to worry about. Im not sure though if it has anything to do with secsetupwizard uninstalled or other factors like theme.

Dear SGS2 users,
I'm experiencing some problems.. The device is getting REALLY slow. When I try to open a picture taken with the SGS2 on the device itself it takes about 1 MINUTE before it shows the picture.. And opening SMS/Contacts also takes time.
I'd like to factory reset my device.. I tried a reset yesterday, but it didn't wipe any files, just sms/contacts. Can someone help me? I'm not rooted
Thans in advance

No it won't. But you should really try get a backup of it
But if you are using stock recovery and are unrooted, then you can wipe fine
Old stock ROMs did have an issue where they would not boot properly after a wipe, unless you re-ODIN the stock ROM again.

Put this code in your dialer:
*2767*3855#
This will do a complete rebuild of the device and wipe internal storage. So phone will be like when you first took it out the box! ;-)

Hi everyone,
I just flashed my Desire HD with the latest ARHD onto my phone. I thought it might be good to do a "factory data reset" or format factory default in 4ext after a flash. But when i perform these action my phone reboots (which is normal) and i get the word "android" in the the middle of the screen. I have to take the battery out and hold the down button with the power to get into the recovery and perform either a install from zip or i can use the restore function. is this normal for a custom rom?

Dont do a factory reset after the rom flash. This will remove needed files. Do the factory reset BEFORE you do the rom flash
Got it thanks. was trying to find out why it was happening.

Factory reset removes all kind of "custom eye candy" stuff from the phone to make it stock as much as possible so if you factory reset after flashing rom, it'll get rid of custom bootanimation, scripts, tweaks...all that to give you stock feeling.

Hi shad0wboss,
What i mean is when i do a reset after a custom rom install i get stuck on an android screen and it does nothing else. so the world "android" appears on the middle of the screen in a metallic style and that's it. doesn't boot, doesnt turn off doesn't do anything unless i pull out the battery.

Hey guys, I have updated my S5(f-version) from kitkat to Lollipop via KIES3 and it was working alright.
I thought rooting it would make it better, but now I feel it's just worse...
But now my applications constantly crashes, for an example - when recieving call the app crashes making me missing the call.
Opening gallery takes up to 7 seconds, and other apps 2-4 seconds (if not more). Which is getting very frustrating,
I dont know how to downgrade to kitkat, but I would love to do so. And then install XPOSED
Things i have done
Cleared partition cache
freeing memory
restarting the phone
unrooting
rooting
This isn't because of lollipop. The problem is something your doing or your device-
Either you did something wrong when rooting or something else.
What method did you use to root the phone?
Did you wipe data?
Make a backup in recovery and wipe data, dalvik, cache. Reflash, root and report back.

I had the same problems before rooting it, and thought rooting it would make a difference.
I followed all the steps correctly
If you updated from KK to LP, it is highly advisable to factory reset the phone after the update, KK leaves behind rubbish files that cause all sorts of problems, factory reset solves a big number of them

No need to unroot first, but you might need to root again after
You should be able to factory reset from TWRP too - through phone or TWRP will work fine

Like detection pointed out, you don't need to unroot to do a factory reset.
Android Recovery = very basic and limited recovery.
TeamWin = everything the above one has plus lots of more useful functions (same goes for CWM)
When I said wipe data, cache and dalvik cache I assumed you knew what that means. Judging from your reply you don't. It means to do a factory reset, in recovery (whether it's TeamWin or whatever, doesn't matter). Be sure to make a backup in recovery if you don't want to lose data like sms messages etc.
so..
i have a g900f to resoft it.
i downloaded odin 3.12 and the latest android 5(yeah, 5, because the owner doesn't like the 6th android)
1)i started odin
2) i selected the software in AP
3)i turned off the samsung, started it in downloade mode(i forgot to activate usb debugging)
4)i connected it to pc
5)i presed START and waited
Odin finished it's proces, but the phone didn't go over "samsung"(when i turn it on). I asked a friend, and he told me that i can't flash an old android, if i installed android 6 Over The Air(yeah..the owner's phone updated it OTA)
OK...I downloaded the latesc android version, repeat the same proces, but now..the phone stucked again at "samsung" step when it was restarting. i reflashed the same version...and it worked. The phone starded to instal 270 files. i was happy, but..i picked up the phone, and the battery feld down when it was installing those 270 files. i put the battery back, turn it on, but it stucked on "samsung". i tried to reflash the same version, but it keeps to stuck in "samsung" step.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW!!!
PLEASE HELP ME!!! (

wipe cache, factory reset, then turn off straight away.
Turn on into download (opposite vol button from recovery)
Open odin
put device in, get port blue
make sure odin is set up properly
flash again
thats all i can think of

if reset didnt work then that would be his next step, reflash via odin, but didnt want to jump the gun and give him too much to think about.
theres also another step if reflashing fails lol.

it could take well over 10mins to completely bootup, being warm is actually a good sign, blow onit to keep it cool or take off battery cover to help keep cool

if you wanna answer, i have some quiestions:
1)after the next update OTA, phone's owner will make it(because she is noob..she doesn's listen to me to update it with pc), if the phone will have problems again, can i only wipe cache => wipe data/factory reset=> restart now to make it like new, from factory, or i have to flash the latest firmware with odin?
2) she will instal a lot of trash on it, and it will have lag and won't work properly.... can i wipe cache=> wipe data/factory reset => restart now to make it like new? (in this case, the phone is on the actual firmware, no updates)
I changed my DPI to an absurd number by mistake and now my phone is on bootloop. My phone is NOT rooted.
Can I fix my phone with MIAssistant or another method? Would that wipe my data?
If I'm going to lose my data anyway, will "Wipe All Data" in the Recovery screen work out (since it's easier)
Thanks in advance. This incident made me question the reason of not rooting this phone...
Mate, I'm not an expert but I think you have a pretty small issue, try entering fastboot mode and making a factory reset via fastboot tools in your pc, that should reset the DPI and fix your issue. If anyone have a better Idea, please do post it here.

Yes, if you can't boot you phone then a simple factory reset should be enough, It shouldn't erase your internal data like photos and videos, just the data from you applications and OS
