In the last couple of weeks, we've seen a lot of advancements in ROM releases for the X. I don't want to start some kind of flame-war here, but just wondering who has run all, or multiple variations of the available Blur-less ROMS and their opinion of each.
I know of these ROMS:
Tranquility (3.0)

Anyone care to weigh in on their experiences?
I decided to go an make this a list of Blur-less ROMS with links. While most of these have homes other than XDA, I tried to put both the XDA thread link and the "home" link.
Since we are discussing here... I always wanted to know what was the reason you could not remove BLUR??
I mean.. I know the phone wouldn't boot if you removed it WITHOUT a acceptable replacement.
Like I know I removed HTC Sense UI back in the before time and my phone boot looped because I didn't have a another Launcher to replace it with... could this be the same thing?? Could we remove BLUR apps as long as we have a acceptable replacement??
EX. Remove Blur Dialer and replace with Dialer One...or remove Blur Home and replace with LauncherPro....

I have blur home removed and replaced with launcher pro. Do at your own risk though. I know nothing of any other changes that are ok as of yet. I haven't gotten that far.

I'm personally on RubixFocused 0.5 and think it's just great. But I would like to know if some of the others would be worth trying, or if they are all more or less the same.
I know of these ROMS:
1 - Tranquility (Are all of the current ROMS based off of this one?)
2 - Rubix
3 - zapX (Tempted to try this one just because of the name )
4 - Apex

Nice question.
To me the Theme/Rom's do seem very similar. They for the most part delete or freeze a lot of the "blur" packages.
The statement by most chefs is "It's faster". OK how much faster then a 2.2 OTA,rooted, 928Droid themed phone???
Is the boot time "way" faster .Do apps activate in split seconds???
EDIT: Flash Fixed
I hesitate to try the Theme/Roms because most seem to have glitches like "Flash not fully functioning so that I can view weather and radar maps ,as an example.
Zapx does peak my interest though....
I've said it in 2 other forums. The zapX rom is awesome. Its the fastest I've used and I have had just about all of them. To me its about how fast everything reacts. From opening the app drawer, tilting the phone, to activating the camera, which you all know typically takes 4 or 5 seconds. With zapX all of it is almost instantaneous. That's my 2 cents for what its worth.
And by the way. I've had no problems with flash on zapX, only issue was with weatherbug and it was fixed by the creator within a day...

I prefer ApeX. Nearly 100% AOSP. It's the closest thing yet..
I just went from zapX to Apex, to me Apex is snappier, and boots up faster.
they are all pretty much the same but zapX seems to be a little slower than the rest for some reason.
You know you can optimize your apks with xUltimate and essentially your stock ota will be just as snappy.
Add a lil MinFree love... and BOOM!!

Actually, is there a way to just back up your market downloads list? That would be all I needed really, then I could go into the market, go to downloads, reinstall all those apps, then use launcher pro backup to restore my icons etc.

Yeah, if you pay nearly five bucks for it and I'm poor, spent all my money on the DX, lol. The free version will run the batch restore but you have to click "Install" and the "Done" for each and every app...it would be easier to write down all my apps and settings on a piece of paper than F with that, lol.

I updated OP with a list and Links to the ROMS. If I've missed any, please let me know and I'll add them.
i am willing to pay a dev to add ap2ext to a cm rom just pm me
Do you seriously need it on the G2? I've got 86 apps installed and I've still got 780MB free, and that's on a Sense ROM (which has considerably more bloat than CM does).

That's apps2fat, by far the worst method for storing apps. I'd rather keep them on my phone. It doesn't mount at boot like app2ext, can't store widgets, and something like 1/2 or 1/4 of each app (not to mention the dalvik, data, cache) is left on the phone. Aside from the data and cache, none of that is left on the phone with app2ext - and there's a way to move that stuff to the ext partition too. I had it on my slide - to not have it on the G2 is just sad and the 2 gigs of memory excuse is just lazy.

Agreed. I'd rather repartition my SD card and have the apps run off of a partition than have them on a FAT32 partition. I have the apps that start at boot still on internal memory. I'd love to see A2EXT.

Well we had this issue when I used my slide. I have a guy in those forums that's working on getting a boot.img for CM 6.1.1 with app2ext activated so we can have it. All well have to do it replace the boot.img, flash an activator package and run a few commands. He's getting a G2 also so we'll see more a2sd stuff for the G2 soon (hopefully).
Great effin news! I'm starting to get worried regarding my memory. I really wish they would unlock the gb. Its kinda dumb that they save it for future updates yet I'm sure when we get gingerbread we will still have 1.28gb or whatever it shows on the phone.
Does anyone know if the real gingerbread update is suppose to unlock our memory since it IS THE UPDATE?
HTC Vision S-OFF CM6.1 Stable Oc'd to 1.5ghz on Pershoots Kernel
Well no luck yet from my buddy (acejoker25000 in case you were wondering). Something is a bit funky about the G2 and (I assume) something to do with it's boot. Starting with CM 6.1, a2sd(ext) support was supposed to be built into the boot.img - maybe that's not the case for the G2, then again, doesn't Cyanogen use this phone? Wtf. Anyway, we may need to take apart the bot.img and edit one of the init files, repack the boot.img, and replace it in our roms then flash (also works with replacing the boot.img in a nandroid). Who's good at that? I've never gone that in depth.
What can I erase or uninstall to free up space? My Note 2 was a 16GB aswell and it had tons of free space. Not my S4...
Any ideas what I can get rid of?
Thanks
search the general subforum, there are like 5 threads about what bloat can be removed
If your referring to only have 9gb out of the box...not much you can do as the stock bloatware are system apps...which means they are located in the system partition...which means even by uninstalling the size of the system partition will remain the same...we will need a dev to change the partition layouts if we want more space
Wow, lots of ... In there haha

Yeah, it's a combination between the bloat and touchwiz. From what I've read, Canadian users don't have as much as AT&T crams the phone full of.. When I first booted my phone, I only had ~9.5gb. Ridiculous. But if I recall there is still some bloat on Canadian variants

It's all the extra apps that Samsung has got in there, plus all the extra ringtones, wallpapers, etc.
You can do a few things (all of which require rooting the phone).
The fastest and best method (IMO) would be to install a custom ROM and remove the bloatware that way. Look at Omega ROM
Alternatively, you can do it yourself using root explorer and apps like Root App Delete.
Or use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2468596
Use any of these methods at your own risk. The first one is the safest and easiest.
Forget it, Samsung has "reserved" a certain amount of space, approx 7gb, for the system files whether its used or not.
You can't change it in any way unless you want to play around with the partition table - pit file... This is an extremely BAD idea...

Is there any way to remove completely the whole system memory and replace it with the google stock android while also being able to update the phone normaly.
If there isnt then im just going to swap it for an iphone 5 I made arrangements.
I dont trust all the moded firmware on this forum or anywhere else so is there any genuine 100% firmware from google stock android that I could use
Thank you

That doesn`t seem normal to me, where are they saved now? I`d say goodbye to these apps if i we`re you. Who knows what apps they can access and possibly change in their settings. Best is to do a data factory and clean the external sd card if need be.
As said by @russ18uk (beat me too it) discussing warez/cracks is illegal. Better request this thread to be closed by a mod or i will. Good luck and stay off the dark side.
This appears to be spyware, your phone should not be doing on it's own, if it were me i'd wipe the thing to be safe. As the phone is relatively quick when it comes to phones you could have all kinds of stuff running in the background, avoid whatever you're installing and stick to simple and reliable sources. Paid for apps are more reliable than free ad supported ones, they've got a smaller footprint and are less hassle.
