Anyone else having a problem attaching pictures and sending MMS messages via the latest 5.1.2. update to Handcent dated 6 September?
It compresses the picture and attaches it, but when I try to send, it just spins indefinitely. Previous versions worked fine. Stock S4 messaging app sends MMS messages just fine. I'm stock (MF3) with no mods on AT&T.I cleared data and cache and even uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
Any suggestions?
Nevermind . Changed MMS settings manually and now it works as it should.

I'm in the group that doesn't really care for the new hangouts thing in 4.4.... so I decided to try Textra. Everything was hunky dory, for a day....
I'm on GoPhone, with an APN for LTE and mms working fine with hangouts. I installed Textra and got everything functioning the way I wanted... I had to change the MMS port to 8080, though,,, the other settings remained the same. MMS would send and receive just fine.
This morning I saw an update to v. 1.51. I installed the update and also installed the emoji plug-in. After that, no more mms. I verified that the settings hadn't changed, tried resetting, wiping data, uninstalling and re-installing. Nada. MMS is fine in hangouts, just not Textra.
One last try,,,, I had a Ti backup of v. 1.50... wiped everything from 1.51, rebooted, and restored the 1.50 backup.... still no go.
(BTW, I tried 8sms, but the group chat from an iPhone wouldn't play nice... too frustrating until that gets sorted out)
Any thoughts?

I'm on 1.51 on AT&T and just tried sending myself an MMS and it worked so that makes me think it has something to do with APN or your settings and not something wrong with the app.
I'm assuming it's either some setting (that I can't seem to find) or something that was triggered through the update.....
If the MMS settings are identical, what else could I check?
I am using Textra on my SGS4 and have been for a while now...
I have not had a problem receiving MMS until now. All of the sudden I get a message that I can't download a picture on Textra and when I do receive it, it is a blank black square and I can't even see it.
I have images auto-download to my Downloads folder and it shows up fine but when I tap it to open the photo, it shows a broken image.
All of the people I get MMS from are iPhone users. I finally had them send it to my on email and the image came to be over 2MB.
I have also tried default sms app, Hangouts, and Hello sms to see if it was just Textra, it's not..
APN checks out normal for AT&T, rooted, 4.2.2, I377UCUAMF3
(I also went to AT&T to see if they could do something about it but as soon as I told them I rooted they told me to basically leave... Nice)
Let me know if you need any more information to help get this solved.
Thanks!
I'd check for any MMS settings in textra. I know EvolveSMS had an option to intercept MMS and not let it go to the stock messenger and it never worked. Also try turning off auto download if it's on, since that can cause issues too.

So i have the ota lollipop release on my N4. the google messenger app will not send mms (pictures or group texts). i figured it was my apn settings, but out of a hunch i decided to set hangouts as the sms/mms app. to my surprise, the hangouts app will send MMS.
anyone else noticed this or have a fix? i would like to use the stock messenger app if possible.
Anezarati, I've got the same exact issue. Ended up uninstalling Messenger last night because of it. Would love a fix as well - definitely prefer it vs hangouts or aosp messaging.
EDIT: just found that the MMS port in my APN was incorrect (on AT&T, MMS port was blank, it should be 80). Fixed my problem, hopefully it works for you too!
Some lollipop users are experiencing the same issue.. It will remain until Google patches it.. Or some Dev comes up with a fix

ive been using hangouts for a few weeks due to issues with other apps not receiving mms. just downloaded the newer google messenger today and it cannot send or receive mms. my apn settings are complete and accurate. really confused.
In case anyone else was experiencing the same issues I had with my S8+....I was unable to send/receive MMS when I initially registered the phone. Realized it was because I was using a private messaging app such as Signal/Whisper on my Note 5. I installed another 3rd party application such as WhatsApp, disconnected Wifi, Restarted my device, and then sent a few test MMS messages. After doing this I selected "Samsung Messages" as my default messaging app again and MMS messages began to work once again.
Yeah I had this problem, I'm coming from a Nexus 6, so I was used to Android Messages app by Google. None of the MMS messages would come through and would just say it failed to download. I was forced to switch it to Samsung Messages and now I get them.
Still wondering if there's a fix for this.

Have you tried switching back to your previous preferred messaging app since you started receiving them on Samsung Messages?

Yes, that's what I did right after I received them on Samsung Messages. The old mms messages showed up, but I didn't receive any new mms. Had to switch back again.
Having the same issue, couldn't find any fixes yet.
same issue here with Google message.. Its the wifi.. Turn it off and mms will work.
Fixed......I had disabled Verizon Messages. I re-enabled VM and updated the app. Then just opened Android Messages and enabled that as default. MMS is now working.
Simply updating Android Messages fixes this issue. V2.2.067
Thanks I had to find the apk cause the store didn't push it out yet. Works over wifi now with that 2.2.067
Possible issue
I have the Galaxy s8 using Google's 'messages' app. I noticed when the phone is idle for a certain time, it starts shutting off certain functions to save power. I've witnessed my phone resuming from sleep and seeing wifi being turned on and reconnected to. I believe it does the same thing with data. What I think the issue is, is that when the phone is woken up, it's not connecting data back to the part of the messaging app that needs it to download MMS messages. Possible temporary fix, just shut off your data for 30 seconds and turn it back on.
Edit: That only works some times. I really don't know how to fix this. It stopped receiving MMS while I was still using my phone.
Hi,
I have installed Gboard and Google Android Messages. As soon as that,
delivery reports for text messages stopped coming.
When I was using stock Samsung Messages and Samsung keyboard
it was working fine.
I have uninstalled Gboard and Android Messages, rebooted and cleared
Samsung Messages data/cache, but it's still not working.
The funny thing is that for MMS it works fine.
Yes, I have everything enabled in Messages settings.
Any hints?
Thanks in advance.
Did you try enabling delivery reports in the Message settings?

Those features will only work with stock messaging app as it's a rcs feature designed solely for it.
Sprint is the only carrier that supports rcs for Android messages as of the moment. The rest of the carriers use a proprietary system that only works on that carrier.
So, it should not give delivery reports unless the person you are texting is on the same carrier. Verify that is the case. Then clear system cache if it still isn't working
I'm currently using stock Samsung messaging app and this problem has nothing to do with RCS.
Delivery reports should work for plain sms/text.

Fixed - appears to be carrier issue
Pls close thread.
Thx.
