So, i've looked this up.
Apparently in framework-res.apk there is bools.xml, and in that there is just one word to change to enable the neat little CRT animation from other devices.
<bool name="config_animateScreenLights">true</bool>
change true to false.
Unfortunately, i have around 500 Apps, and no idea what i'm doing. I can't risk having to do a complete re-flash just to enable this.
Is there anyone out there who could do it, and make it a flashable zip? Would be awesome if you could also make a flashable for the original, just in case something goes wrong.

aaaand i tried doing it myself.. With no fail. No success either. The phone booted up fine, but either what i did was irrelevant, or i flashed the wrong file. or maybe the tool i used to recompile it didn't work right..
tablet said it installed fine, no issues at all.
woah. the modified framework-res killed my root. I flashed the original back (yes, i made a backup) and supersu, and everything worked fine again.

I was just wondering if there are a clever trick to reflash a theme already installed on the device.
In this particular situation I have changed some of the icons in the framwork-res.apk. I then copied them to the theme, wich is BrightSilence, and tried to flash it all over again. Result - bootloop.
So, is there any step you could do to circumvent this, or is the only option to reflash the ROM. and then the theme?
Thanks
Yes, just reflash a unmodified version of, in your case, BrightSilence or am i missing something?
Or revert to the nandroid you made before messing with the system partition.
The thing is that BrightSilence is already installed on the device, but now I want another set of icons. Flashing the theme again with the modified framework-res just result in a bootloop.
It seems there really is no shortcut, than to reflash ROM, then new theme.
Thanks anyway.

U are wrong.
Installing theme - means overwriting some files into new ones, not adding or removing some.
So if u changed framework file, flashed and got bootloop - u can flash theme again (overwrite bad file) and boot correctly.

I do get that really. But what now if I want to apply a new framework-res? I know I can always nandroid my self out of a bootloop.

U have to mod framework correctly and will not end in booloops.
Use Apk Manager to decompile, change, compile and sign framework-res.apk.
Do not push file via adb - use flashable zip.

But the framework-res is from the UOT, shouldn't that be packed/signed properly?
Well, I am going to try anyway, thanks!
EDIT: Tried to cook a new file, with the exact same framework-res I used earlier. Used UOT to cook, and worked perfectly. Thanks to mendozinas! ;-)

Although I have found the correct lines and edited them the damn thing is still there. Any ideas suggestions? I posted here in case someone may have some shift specific info that could help.
I'm assuming you recompiled and repushed?

Yes I did, I have even re-decompiled to verify that my settings did get incorporated.
pushed from recovery with system mounted... yadda yadda yadda.. I am fairly certain I did everything correct, leaning towards the shift needing additional tweaking. but then again it is only my 2nd time doing the compile/decompile and I could have missed something / screwed something up..
I have attached the original jar file and the smali file for anyone interested. I added the .txt and .zip for the filter, did not put them on the phone like that.
Hmmm, another thought. Most changes, themes, mods, etc, require a deodexed rom. Not sure if doing this does or not.

That is the problem here (I believe).
If you could make it an update zip I'd love you long time! Also the damn headphone icon.

I am not responsible for anything bad happened to your phone after you install this window animation mod
Install this mod at your own risk!!!
Don't forget to nand backup your phone before installing this mod.
Got bored of same window animation?
Here are some window animations I gathered from various sources on Internet, made them to work with metamorph so one can change window animation easily.
Instructions:
Download and install Metamorph
Download attached zip file, save to sdcard in directory '/sdcard/AndroidThemes'
Run Metamorph and select "Unzip/Extract new theme", you need to allow superuser permission
Select a zip file
After metamorph finished extracting theme, close the prompt and hit Apply all. The phone will reboot
Note:
Your phone may reboot several times
If your phone doesn't reboot, take battery out, put it back, and power on
To revert back to original window animation, get zip file on post #7
Does this work on rooted, non-deodexed, stock rom
I guess it will work.
But to be safe, nand backup first please.
u shud also include the "stock animation" u know wat i mean the default animation in case someone wants to fall back
also, can these animation be extracted and merged with framework_res?

Original animation is attached.
Can't add it to post#1 because number of attachment is limited to 8.
Any link to see the animations on video?
Sorry, not aware yet of links to videos showing animations....
Anyone?

How is this program better than another (market.android.com/details?id=com.jrummy.animation.changer)?
Nice find!
mmm... perhaps Metamorph better in term of price and Metamorph can handle various things such as lock-screen, boot-animation, etc., not just window animation
Do you know what the phone signal icons are that the stock Optimus V uses in the notification bar? I look in framework-res and the stat-sys-signal-#'s there are all 4-bar icons, yet the icons that my phone uses are 6-bar.

hhhmm no blur? i always see these samples, but still no blur....
-----------------
ok i finally merged the blur animation to my Nessy Fenice framework-res...
and this one looks better for minimalists like me.
not too fancy animations, tho i find it majority of the window animations on BLUR is just zoom in and out.
the only blur animation i can see is the MENU sliding up with blur effect and a little bounce after that.. cute.
tho after that, its all zoom in and out. hhmmm.. i hope other transitions also have those blur effect.
Any vids for the OTHER animations? Mabe a link to the mod's source?

Wow, thanks. Works perfect on my O1 and without flash anything
I cant install the original animations! The phone keeps isntalling, and if i remove the battery, it reverts to the custom animations!
Couldn't get UOT's window animations to stick. This worked, thank you!
Nice! Thanks for the hard work
good work gan
working on LOL ROM "D
title pretty much explains itself. i have not been able to change the boot animation. im running 4.4 google play edition rom.
More details please. What boot animation are you trying to use in place of the GPE one? What happens when you do make the change? Where are you copying the new boot animation to?
euhm well i tried apps and manual copying. i tried placing gif, zips and qmp? files in /system/media and some other locations. i tried allot of apps and explainations but nothing worked. when i made the change it either didnt change or it went completly black. im a root noob btw but fast learner sorry for the little detail and thanks for the quik reply!
You cannot use QMG boot animations in the Google Play Edition, Cyanogenmod, or AOSP ROMs as QMG only works in Touchwiz. The only boot animations you can use are in the ZIP format, such as the one linked in my signature. Instructions on how to manually install it can be found on my boot animation's thread, but in short, you use a file manager, copy the new boot animation to where the old one is, change permissions, and reboot.
so tried exactly what you said and it would not work. in my /system/media therr are only qmg files.(and now the zip) now i think i have the wrong location. like its the location from the original ma from the samsung system.
If it didn't work, you're not on a Google Play Edition ROM. Please take some screenshots of your About Phone listing in Settings and post them so I can see them.
Hi, I wanted to change charging sound of stock rom, cuz its so annoying, and i cant turn it off. So I wanted to change it, but ZTE is so cocky, that I m not able to find charging sounds in system/media/sounds/ui. I was able to change lock, unlock, touch and keyboard sounds, but charging ones are no wherw to be found. Does anyone know where is the file of charging sound in stock rom? (i wasnt able to find it in LineageOS as well, but on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4)

They're not in media but under system/priv-app/SystemUI_ZTE/
Look into the apk under res/raw/
There you have your charging.ogg

Ok, I copied systemui.apk from the location that you told me, then i replaced that charing.ogg. But now, when I copied it back (even from TWRP, or es file explorer), it feels like system dont see SystemUI.apk. The screen is totally black, and on first reboot I didnt have status bar. I fixed permissions, cleared chaches, and still nothing. Even if I copy back the original systemui.apk, its still the same. Im rocking your port of mifavor 5.0, do you know the solution how to properly install modified systemui.apk?

Most likely a signing problem or possible a clean flash needed.... (that is if you changed permissions right and so on....i cannot judge from here )
But as only res has to be modified i'd see no problem..
If you send me the ogg files you want to replace in the apk, i'll look into that and do a test myself.

Glad it worked ! Needed more then a bit of permissions
These chinese ones are more stubborn as other roms. Therefore i deodexed the SystemUI_ZTE.apk
ONLY WORKING ON V2.0.0B13 (SL!M) Mifavor5.0
Here is the deodexed file : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850495598
Just extract it and replace existing in system/priv-app/SystemUI_ZTE/ and change to 644
And you'll have another "charging" tone
