Hi there,
I was (sorry AM) and idiot and don't/didn't have my contacts backed up to my Google account...
Right, so anyway, my screen broke (touch screen only works from about halfway down and up) so I can't unlock my screen. The guy at the Sprint store told me there's a Command Prompt way of breaking through the screen lock and getting info. off my phone (like texts, pictures, contacts, etc.).
Does anyone know what he may have been talking about and could point me in the right direction?
Thanks for your help!

Hey guys ..I just noticed that there is a History of all my texts and there is no way to delete or clear this. Im not talking about the regular text message screen Im talking about the "history" screen.
Does anyone know how to remove this information?
thanks.
Whaere is the history part? I just checked mine and don't see any history?

Shot! Never even saw that screen but thanks for the heads up! I too would love a fix for this!!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Wtf is this?
There has to be a way to delete this
Thanks for the heads up
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
None. At all. At least none i can see. I use launcher pro so i just hid my contacts but that still doesn't take care of the fact that its there. If you delete the contact then add it again it works but that a TON of trouble!
Please, if anyone knows anyway at all to get rid of this, even the entire screen as opposed to just the info, lemme know! What a PITA.

Quick google search on this and apparently motorola and verizon are swamped with complaints about not being able to delete the history. Supposedly will be addressed with a software update? No ETA though...

I think I remember reading that Google got some bad press over this .. another one of those Privacy Faux Pas' like Buzz.
Not sure if there is a way to clear it ... I took a quick look and didn't see anything obvious.
holy! watch what you say and send to others... lol
Bump to keep this at the top. Would love a fix!
I have figured out that if the contact isn't linked then it doesn't seem to show up...... could be totally wrong tho.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
So at some point wont this be a massive amount of information stored on the phone?
I think it's only for a certain period of time or a certain number of contacts.

I doubt the memory footprint is significant. There are a number of system information apps/gadgets that will show you how much free storage you have, or just check it out in the settings.
The bigger concern is for privacy issues. IMHO
I agree about privacy. How are u supposed to have a girlfriend and then other girls on the side with this? Come on moto think about us unfaithful lying cheaters out here!!!how am i supposed to keep my girlfriend from knowin about all my infidelities? Lol. As the heartbreak kid i must have privacy!!!
Edit:for those who don't know this is a sarcastic statement. Haha

Which ROM are you running? More info on your set up? I am running MikG and under Sound Settings there is an option called "Flip for Speaker" which allows "your phone to activate the speaker during calls."

I have a buddy who has a phone that was hacked. His GF has access to his Texts and Call logs. She even knows when he is resetting his phone as she sends him text messages telling him to make sure he does a good job wiping it... CRAZY
What is the root cause for this, how can it be prevented... and what exactly is she doing>?

I doubt any mod or program with or without root access can notify someone when they enter recovery to wipe their phone. Beside how would a phone be able send a sms while in recovery?

This should not be impossible to do with an app. Even with tasker, it is possible to create an app (app factory) that will have a trigger (sms sent or sms received or phone call received or phone call placed), and send a text to a predetermined number with details of the sent/received text or the tel# called. And these text messages can be set to not be stored on the phone.
Yes, I think this will work, because I have set my phone up with such a tasker profile (created an app from that profile, and hid it from the app drawer) - so that if my phone is lost, I can send it a specific text message, and it will respond back to me (at a predetermined phone# with GPS coordinates of the phone), without leaving a trace of the message with GPS coordinates on my phone.
It should be possible to change this to intercept any sms message (incoming or outgoing), and send that message to another phone#
Or, she may just have access to your buddy's service provider's account details (log in to the website, see incoming/outgoing call details easily)

Have him use titanium backup from the play store to back up his apps then have him factory reset his phone root stays then have him get his apps back through titanium backup.
Sounds kinda like cerberus. If your friend flashed the stock rom like mdc or mdl he should be able to remove the app. I know there is a setting to hide the app. And if he had root you can make the app non-removable. The only way to remove it is to flash the complete stock rom.

Most certainly not joking. I looked into his app drawer/app folder, and could not find any apps out of the ordinary. At first, I though maybe she was logged into his Facebook messenger account, so I uninstalled it... it made no difference.

My wife has an iPhone and I am too old (I'm actually not that old) to care, lol.
Apologies if this has been talked about, but the search function is not working it appears.
Anyone figured out how to turn off the auto-correct? I don't see the option anywhere. I end up re-sending half of my texts.
Also, is it possible to load Android texting? These kiddie themed texts are killing me.
Thanks!

Hello everyone
My girlfriend has sent her S4 up for repair because apparently it wouldn't power up anymore, (I Couldn't help and try to fix it due distance and no one really in her family knows how to fix things such as...) so after going to a store they sent it up for repair. She got the SD out of it.
I was wondering how they do it at Samsung, she had the SD card in all the time while using it daily, and had Google+ logged in.
But there are no photo's on her Google+ and she doesn't know about her SD yet.
So the big question is : Will she lose her data, and 5000(+) photo's?!
Kindest regards.

I do not mean to talk bad about her but she isn't the best with Technology, so if it isn't standard turned on then sadly I don't think so, no.
If her photos are saved on the internal storage then yes, it would probably be gone. The service center guys will always highlight to you if data will be gone

My moneys on they wipe the phone. If stuff on the phone is important she should back up her stuff to dropbox or mega.
Its the same scenario shes in as if she lost the phone.
When it doesn't boot anymore they replace the whole sdcard most of the time.
If it's an external sd card they won't touch it, if you're talking about the internal then it's most likely wiped
