Mega, mind keeping this thread updated with entries as they are discovered? Most of them are not specific to the Samsung Ativ S, so it will be useful later down the road.

I think, I can post ALL registry from Ativ S. I extracted it from the ROM file.

On WP7 they are in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Connectivity\CellularUx\DataConnectionIcon\ and default values on my EU Omnia7:
1XEDGE E
1XEVDO DO
1XEVDV DV
1XHSDPA 3G+
1XRTT 1X
1XUMTS 3G
GPRS G
LTE 4G
NONE
WIMAX W

DO IT!!

How to add "Google" as a search provider in my Ativ S?
It don't have a option in: "internet explorer-->setting"

A quick suggestion: there's a similar thread from WP7 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907971
Not all of the same keys/values will be present, and some of them might not be writable at this time. However, it's a start. As an example, changing the search providers is in there.

Ahh, thanks for that. Looks like the reg location is completely different. I will continue to look into it, perhaps there is a key to enable the option for disabling the sound (mine is locked by my rom) in which case I would need to match mine against someone else, otherwise a search function searching for keys (shutter.wav) may be useful.

Disable WM6 Startup Sound

I auto-soft reset my Touch at 2 am.
When the title screen for WM comes up that music wakes me up...
How do I disable the WM6 Startup Sound?
Thanks!
I found the culprit = PhoneOn.wav.
I tried deleting the Key for the .wav in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
but did not work.
I also tried to delete PhoneOn.wav with Total Commander but its protected from deletion in some way....aaaaargh!
Please help

Are the registry edits you making actually getting written? Are you powering off the device after making the edits or just soft resetting?
Verify that the changes are made after booting by reviewing the entries again.

Slim,
I rebooted and the entry is getting written. I then soft reset and that darn music is still playing -- are you on a Touch (Vogue)??
thanks
This worked for me
This is what I just did, seems to work fine.
1) Use Total Commander to search for the registry key which contains sound_on.
or browse to
\HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\FlightModeOnOff\Sound_on
2) Change the content of that key from "SoundOn.wav" to "silence.wav"
3) Done.
I now get a nice and quiet soft reset. I'm using the HTC Touch / Vogue.
Leon.
Sorry dude, I am using a Tilt. I pulled the reg keys from the ROM kitchen I use to build my ROM; however, I HATE the stupid startup animation and sound, so I never cook it in to my builds.
The calls for your startup animation must be somewhere else.
Try ibloo's solution...I will look around a bit and see if I can find out why those reg edits I suggested don't work for you.

FOR HTC PURE,
Here is how to replace the annoying AT&T startup noise with any sound file of your own choice:
Edit the registry at following location:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
Change StartupWav to any other wav files.
Remember..
When you are making changes to the registry...
-exit the registry editor
-give it a good 10 seconds or so, then hit the power button (to blank the screen). This allows the registry settings to bake/get applied.
-Then, do a soft reset.
Else.. if you do it too quick, the changes may not apply/stick.

Hi Chemist
Found this one but what I really want is NO sound at all. How do I achieve that? Can I just remove the reference to the existing .WAV file or do I have to replace it with a .WAV that is empty, ie, no sound? If that is the case do you know where I can get hold of one or how I could make one?
Thanks in advance.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]

why text messages are recieved with different timestamp?

Whenever I get a next text message, I noticed that the messages have a time stamp way way off from the current time. How can that be if the time of the phone is right?
Have you tried this fix?
1) Goto HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/PhoneSetting
2) Add DWORD Value 'TrustTimeZoneField'
3) Set value = 0
4) Soft Reset
I had a similar issue where all the Delivery Reports from OrangeUK (sent from "System Administrator") came up before all the other messages regardless of when they were received.
Maybe something for me to try.
Can't find it
Where is that file at? Or it a registry?
I looked on the explorer on the HD but so many folders I haven't found it. Can you elaborate more?

hi stzd8,
it's the registry
HKLM is short hand for Hkey local machine
How do I get to the registry?
I apologize for asking these type of 'questions' but how do I get to the registry?
I can only see files. Do you access the registry from the connected PC or on the phone itself. So this is the right way to fix the timestamp?
thanks
Edited the registry 'trustedtimezone' didn't work
The registry thing didn't work, any other ideas?
the tweak WORKED for me.

[REQ] Registry help with Diamond2 GSensor

I'm working witht he Diamond 2 Gsensor sdk on my Diamond and I have been able to successfully add string values to the whitlist section in the gsensors registry. (HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\Whitelist)
The whitelist values enable rotation. My question is how can I create a "Blacklist" so to speak that would contain values for apps I dont want rotated? Is it possible? If so is it as easy as crating the said paths?
Anybody?...

I have not tried this yet myself but i would guess, and tell me if im wrong, that the only time it will rotate is if the app is in the white list if its not in the white list then it will not rotate.

Well this is true, however, the whitelist uses class names to determine what apps to rotate. The class name "dialog" refers to multiple apps like the phone dialer, call status, sms composer, and more. So when I add "dialog" in the whitelist it rotates all of these. I would like to try and make an exception list that uses the process name or window name as the identifyer. That way I could have dialog in the whitelist and cprog.exe in the exceptions or blacklist key. It may not be possible but thats what I'm asking I guess.

One tip though, if you want to know something, just try! That's the way other people get their knowledge about these things....

X-Tended manila Startmenu -now 50 items instead of only 30

Touch X Xtended StartMenu -add shortcuts to startmenu, now 50 shortcuts, original is 30. (you must add the name and shortcut in registry to get the last 20 to work, im working on a program for that) View attachment 202860
For example
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\ProgramLauncher\30]
"DispName"="Total commander"
"IconPath"=""
"IsReadOnly"=dword:00000000
"Path"="\program files\tcmd\totalcommander.LNK"
It does added to 50, but doesnt work, cannot add shortcut.
Tried soft reset. not working too.

unfortunatly it has to be with registry changes!
here you can see:

I guess not for novice users, they might break it :>
Well, I'd suggest once all the shortcuts are properly done, backup those reg entries.. then next time, it would just be importing the reg file after a hard reset.
Anybody can upload the default reg entry or provide the links to Settings and Home (TF3D). I forgot where I backed them up and I removed them previously.

adding paths manually is painful especially when you need to move them around for any reason.. what about a little config utility to do this easily? it would be nice also to have only the needed rows.. I mean, 50 might bee too much, and using the above mentioned config app might set 33, 36, 39, 42, 45 etc depending on my needs..
hope it's clear enough for you to understand my hint

It is for multilingual purposes. manila will load the name according to your device system/manila current language.
The following registry files will extend the number of programs to 48 (or 64 in the case of the second file). All the new entries can be edited directly from the programs tab. No additional messing around in the registry is required.
Reg files don't work for me...I had tried the same thing earlier by manually editting the registry without success. But I thought I would give it one more try. Really stupid that we can't have more than 30 items...

sms max only 50?
I was able to go to the registry and change it to 200. But is there a way to change BsB to more than 50?
The "Advance Config" tool lets you change it to unlimited but BsB takes priority.
Registry max recipient set at 450 failed
I tried to set the key at 450 but when I select group at 420 something very strang happen, after select all recipient, I click send but I get error, that the message cannot be send. and I find it back in draft as MMS.
I flash the Rom with three different Roms but every time the same problem, the message is changed the be send as MMS and not SMS.
So maybe someone tried different way and found out until how many recipients we can set?
Regards,
Jean-Marc.

I don't know what the registry hack for this is, but you can bump it up to 50 with BsB Tweaks.
Click to collapse
Thanks for that works a treat.
