[Q] SGH-1337m Back Camera issue - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi guys, just jumped to android from ios and im having some issues (camera has black screen and freezes with camera failed), front facing camera works). Basically ive seen a lot of fixes for the rear facing camera on the S4, clearing the cache etc. None of them work, i was planning on rooting the phone as well, ive seen a few posts saying this sometimes fixes the issue with a new rom and kernel.
Does anyone have experience of this working and can recommend a custom rom for me? Just before i start ordering parts for it.
Thanks in advance!

What firmware are you on?

Sounds like the flex cable for the camera is not seated correctly. Depending on your firmware, you will not be able to flash any new roms for awhile. I suggest warranty replacement if you are on MF3. If you are on MDL, read up on rooting and ROMs. There is vital info you need to know. A new ROM might fix it if it isn't a flex cable issue.

My GNote is acting wierd, what may be the cause?

So every now and then my GNote has been acting really wierd, it's as if someone is plugging in and out an micro USB cable in quick successions. Now i have a youtube video of it, but im not allowed to post links so i can't show you it here, but search youtube for "0987789023572821" and it will pop up. I'm sorry for the lousy quality and lightning, i couldn't help it since the problem rarely presents itself when im ready with my camera...
So you know, i'm not touching the phone and nothing is plugged in, it's doing it all by itself.
Obviously i suspected that there was dirt in the USB jack, and i spent quite alot of time making it super-clean. I've also suspected the micro-usb assembly was somehow damaged so i opened the phone up and heated the solderposts to re-melt the solder on the micro usb jack. I really couldn't spot any visible damage on the jack itself or the micro usb assembly.
So either this has something to do with software or its damaged without me beeing able to see it, what do you guys think? Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Also, is it possible to buy a new micro USB assembly for the GNote? I've been looking en ebay but can't find anything else then digitizers and screen replacements.
Thanks!
If its a software deal a new ROM will fix it, if not send to Samsung, I wouldnt accept a phone this good and expensive with any issues.
I had the same problem with my s2 flashing a new kernel seemed to fix it.
Are you using a custom kernel?

Thanks for the response guys.
I'm not using a custom kernel or rom or anything. The phone is from germany and come to think of it, i might have updated the firmware before this thing started to appear. I'll try to flash in a new firmware to see if that fixes it, thanks again
This seems to be kernel problem
can you confirm, kernel updated successfully?
post this data here from setting - about phone
Baseband
Kernel
Build version
I'm sorry, i didn't look what kernel version it was before i updated the firmware. However after i updated the firmware this problem has not occured once, so thanks again, it seemed like it was a problem with the software after all
Here's what it looks like AFTER the update, as i said i don't know what it was before sorry
Baseband - N7000XXLB2
Kernel - 2.6.35.7-N7000XXLC1-CL1003701
Build number - GINGERBREAD.XXLC1
Yes your present kernel is correct, n so mo problem occurred.
I think it won't happen now.

[Q] Blurry pictures in stock and downloaded camera apps, both in stock and custom rom

Hi there,
I recently bought an used milestone 2. I discoverd that the camera is taking blurry pictures. It seems like that the auto focus is waaay out of focus. I read blogs and solutions for a while now before posting this tread, but without succes. When I bought the phone there was miui installed on it. I figured out that it could be an bug, so I flashed to the stock rom, however, the camera still takes blurry pictures. I have tried almost every possible settings in the camera, downloaded various camera apps, flashed it to the stock rom, but the camera still takes blurry pictures.
Anyone any idea how to fix this ? I have gone through the forum, without any success.
Has anyone got any idea?

Could it be a hardware problem?

No, I dont think so. The handset is in good condition and everything works just fine. The camera is just way out of focus!

If you got stock firmware and did a full wipe data/cache with factory reset, I'd say it's not a software problem, but I'm no expert, let's hope someone comes up with a solution!
I do have the same problem.. Someone told me MS2 users are used to that kind of Problem and it is a hardware bug that happens a lot. You need to get the device repaired to have the camera working again..
(Sorry for bad english)

Seems pretty much like a hw problem.

Help with N7 random reboots, power issues

Hoping someone can help me out with a serious ongoing problem I've been having with my N7.
I'm getting random reboots where the screen will go blank - all black, or one colour with lines, will be completely unresponsive and will either stay like this until I do a reset with a long press of the power button, or reboot itself after about 30 seconds. The reboot is often accompanied by a loud buzzing from the speaker.
It will then get caught in a bootloop between the Google screen and the boot animation.
It seems to be related to the battery somehow because it doesn't happen when I'm plugged into the charger or connected to an external battery pack.
I'm almost certain it's a hardware rather than a software issue as I've tried a full wipe and ROM restore to no effect.
I'm wondering if someone could help me out with diagnosing or some advice.
Is this a warranty case or something I could fix easily, etc?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you overclocking, undervolting, or using a non-stock kernel?
If so, restore stock to your N7 for a while and see if the problem persists.
If the problem persists after that it probably is hardware as you suggest. (Even mildly-overclocked/undervolted default settings in a kernel could theoretically cause instability problems for a small fraction of processors - so you need to eliminate that as a possibility by running stock for a while.)
You might actually want to go so far as to restore the lock state of the bootloader after you restore to stock; that way, if things get worse and your warranty period has not yet expired... well, you get the idea...
good luck
Running the latest 'stable' PA and M kernel with default settings as far as clocking and volting AFAIK.
I will try returning to stock unlocked though to eliminate the possibility of some incompatibility between my device and custom kernel.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Camera FIX?

My camera says it can't connect to camera why, i tried re flashing the rom it worked but when i switch to front camera it happens again, so im just confused is it the romS or my camera, *I tried different roms and the same thing happens, Im not sure if this was because i updated my bootloader and radio....Can someone just give me sum type of info, other than that i believe the Nexus 4 is a BEAST device.......
I believe its your camera. I own two nexus 4's and no problem with the camera. Flash it to stock. Lock the bootloader and RMA it. Actually flash back to stock and see if your problem is still there. Then you can RMA.
