i was specting at least, water proof, The new Sony Z1 looks tempting, the only thing holds me back is the big screen Note series :crying:

Very cool, soft touch back looks great, love the new S Pen features. Will be picking this up at launch, but it would've had to be truly terrible for me not to at this point.

You were expecting a phone with a context sensitive stylus slot to be waterproof? I mean, it'd be nice, but expecting?

If you have a Note2, why disappointing? So far looks like a software and size bump. Not worth it for most of us to upgrade unless it's the time for you, but I'm not disappointed. If my Note2 ever completely explodes I'll get a 3.
Sohebq has already started a thread about the release stuff btw.

It’s finally got pop-up apps (vs. two sizable parallel windows) which the Note 10.1 has had since launch. They are so much more flexible and productive. TW doesn't look to have changed much but how it works, at least on the N3, seems to have been pretty heavily revised. The camera's huge so I'd assume some pretty trick stuff is going to be announced. Also, there are no speakers on the front or the back. Dual speakers (one on each side) maybe? We'll know soon.
P.S. - I hope it comes in brown.
The video's been pulled but here are some stills. I like the "leather look."

Yeah! The N3 has Qualcomm's RF360 which means it will support all available LTE bands. Unlocked N3's will work on any carrier worldwide and support LTE roaming (assuming it's provided by your carrier).

I really don't like it, and I'm a huge Samsung freak.

I think the Galaxy Note is better than the S3... Seriously.

After seeing the s3 all I could think was how quick i'd get the Touchwiz/Default phone mode off it if I owned an one.
Once you use AOKP/AOSP in tablet mode there is literally no going back to that touchwiz mess... Seriously... Touchwiz/Default android phone mode just looks so silly now. WOW.
Also the quadcore while nice isn't enough... and no stylus... still pentile.
Camera app looks interesting - wonder if it can be ported to the note...?
I can't wait for the super hybrid rom for our Note that uses the Galaxy Tab 2 Touchwiz tablet mode framework and features the best of the Galaxy s3 and ICS Galaxy tabs..!
And Samsung I am no apple fanboy but what the hell is up with copying siri???

talking about design, for me note is far better, but s3 has bastard hardware and new features ;D
Yes some of the features I like to have, in our note.
Safe to say those are the exact specs we'll see in Note2? What ya think?

I'm just hoping that we get Exynos 5 dual instead... a15 is the way to go hands down.
I'm happy that S3 isn't something totally new, as my SGN will keep its value longer + there is pretty good chance that most features could be ported to our lovely Note SGN is better looking, it's got more interesting features and it stands out of the crowd
S3 looks like some fancy soap
S3 looks like the my touch 3g....not that impressed...stick with the note...only gonna be bigger faster stronger.....

Yeah, SGS3 is a bit of a letdown, but that means that my one month old GNote was and still is the better buy. I can't say that I didn't expect that, it met my expectation just right. I laughed at people who thought that it would include A15 processor and some other crazy things. What I am surprised with, is the pentile matrix of the display, but I guess the techology is not there yet. Well, I guess the next big thing to wait for is GNote2.
Read reviews in other forums and found similar replies
S3 is fugly and let down.
Galaxy Nexus and Wave 3 have the best design in my opinion, this is how S2/Note/S3 should have been.

I think now I know why Sammy's logo was all about pebbles being blue and white...
the S3 is actually design to look like a pebble...
hmm.. now this gets me into thinking.. would you pickup this 'pebble'? or just throw it away?
GS3 Veredict: Pass
I like the design, bluetooth4, the fancy software and NFC, but it doesn't have enough arguments to even remotely consider swapping my Note.
After all it was a minor upgrade to the SGS2. It's a pitty that so much expectation was created - it's a very nice device, but slightly better to what's in the market already.
If I had to choose between the note and the sgs3, definitely the Note.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Think I'm gonna pass too. Don't think it's that ugly, but it didn't WOW me like the Note did. Hopefully they launch the Note 2 by end of year...
Have to agree, underwhelming.
Going to stick my neck out and say it looks lovely, unique design and nice new features.

If you guys want to solace yourself by saying that S3 is < Note thats ok. But I do think that the S3 is definitely a better phone. I think after two months of dev support, it will be the best phone in the world.

The Note 2 Is Not Out-of-Date.

Now that CES is over, I still feel that the Note 2 is a strong contender 'till Q3 of this year.
Other than Chinese phones from ZTE, Huawei, and Lenovo with questionable hardware, software, and support, I saw nothing that was 5+" that I'd consider a N2 competitor. I think people bought the N2 for different reasons. I bought it because of the Wacom digitizer with palm rejection, S Pen, S Note, and the other functional enhancements Samsung's added. Nothing has been announced, leaked, or even rumored to compete with those features. For those that bought the N2 as a "giant phone" and nothing more there will be lots of newer phones with smaller and larger displays and higher PPI and faster SoCs out or announced in Q1 this year.
Note 2 was outdated as soon as it was released just like any other technology. And this thread since there is another just like it.

The only reason why xperia is better- it is water prof, but still pretty much useless add. 1080p ress? Who needs it? On small screen 720p is more then enough and AMOLED >>> TFT for sure.
At the moment Note2 is still peace of art and definitely not out dated.

Samsung should come out with a very small smartphone. That way there will be a phone I'll want to buy to switch to when I want to go mountain biking. Use the Note 2 when I want productivity at my fingertips, and then the micro smartphone for when I want to be on the move. Something the size of the RazrM, possibly a little smaller and defiinitley thinner.

I don't see any phones on the market with much faster CPUs! Or with more RAM? Camera specs can be argued (more mpx doesn't mean better pictures). The only thing I can see as an upgrade in other phones is their 1080p displays. But I have a large battery. I have a stylus. I have a notification light. I have a removable battery, too! I have a big Samsung community behind me as well.
If you really feel like your device is outdated already then I think you have an issue with technology, and not the actual phone itself. if you really feel that your phone is outdated the moment it gets released then you must never feel content with anything you buy!
It's fast, and it has top specs if you ignore the 1080p display. I don't see any other phones with a wacom digitizer pen! I'd rather keep this display and the pen than have some over hyped 1080p display and feel like I have a GIANT PHONE.

The only thing that can make the Note 2 outdated is the Note 3.

my problems with this tablet.

i have 3 things that i find utterly annoying with this tablet.
1. it seems that while in drawing with sketchbook pro, the button on the s pen gets in the way, idk if i just cant figure out how, but it needs an option to turn off the button.
2. the sounds removing the s pen(at least for me) kinda suck, would like the option to add custom sounds.
3.this is just a toss in one, but when i got my tablet, the right botton corner was up, like it hadnt been put together from the factory, after about 10 min about gentle coaxing it snapped back into place, but come on samsung... 600 for a tablet with out of the box defects?? not a big issue though
I agree. I had the original 10.1 & loved it but I sold it in hopes of getting this new 10.1 or the surface pro. Glad I didn't get the new 10.1. Then some people complain of lag on it. I guess it's all the bloatware Samsung has running on it. Good luck either way.

You should be able to replace the pen sound once root is available. My original Note 10.1 does the lightsaber sound. People at work get a kick out of it. You basically use a root enabled file explorer and replace the sound files. Pretty straight forward.

Ask yourself if you will use the s-pen at all. If the answer is no, wait it out or just get the current Nexus 10. If the answer is yes, get this. The screen is GORGEOUS, it runs really well, and feels INCREDIBLE in the hands. I don't care what comes out on the 24th, I will not regret this (and I could 100% return this tab if something does come out).

I did notice some offset. The offset for me is when I have the pen angled. Depending on how you hold will determine the offset. The s pen does seems more accurate. But the Wacom feels better in hand. I haven't done any detail work with the wacom, just loose sketches. I could see using both. I know there is the Samsung version, maybe that one doesn't offset as much, not sure. I was gonna order one to test out.

I don't think it's that simple. I like stock Android and all but I worry about stability and quality control issues with nexus 10 tabets. I hope I'm wrong for others sake but I had a bad experience with the last nexus 10. Bad light bleed on two of them and crashing issues. I went into purchasing thinking was was not going to use the Spen that much but man am I glad it's there. It's just nice. Fair point. Even when custom ROMs come out I'm not going to put AOSP on here because I really like the Samsung extras. I'm really amazed at this tab. It's phenomenal all around. We get something like hyperdrive or Revolution HD and it'll be spotless.
Also, I hope people are taking advantage of the Samsung app "Watch On" that came installed.
Uses the ir blaster to change the volume and channels with a cable guide that you can just press what you want to watch and it changes it for you. Also if you have a newer smart TV you can watch what you are watching on TV on your tablet. It's like magic lol. I found this application to be just awful. I ended up using "Smart Remote" as I just could not stand the interface. I don't have cable, just a media center, so giving me all sorts of info on whats on TV is useless. I wish there was a way to turn that stuff off, as I may use it then.

No, but again, this article is all supposition with no firm answers... Just a "leak" about what might be on it.
As such, my previous comment can be considered what could be due to the fact you can have lasers make holograms and the HOT smart watch does in fact allow your hand to be used as a handpiece to make/receive calls....

But I don't mind a phone with a penile function, which means I don't need my boyfriends any more.

Note 3 is the best out there, and hope Note 4 will be as decent as Note 3, and by the way the faux leather is awesome.

According to an article on Android Authority the difference between 1440p and 1080p is slighty noticeable on smartphones.
http://www.androidauthority.com/quad-hd-vs-1080p-comparison-359430/
But assuming the 1440p screen is a battery drainer, I would probably go for the superior performance / battery life on a similar 1080p device

Looks good. I'm not sure why some people are complaining about it being the same size 5.7 as the note 3 why would you make it bigger. next everyone will be walking around with 70" flat screens up to their heads.

I was hoping it would be waterproof. Not sure if I want the increase resolutions at the expense of battery life.
I'll stick with my Note 3.

Well you might as well get used to the bootloader never being unlocked. This is becoming the norm pretty soon you won't find any phones with a unlocked bootloader. The only reason I want it unlocked would be for customized kernel support for better battery life far as ROM I'm fine with stock with a little of the bloat taken off the top. Never understood the ones that buy the Note series and just turn it into a oversize S5 why get it when you don't have the s-pen function or use the s-pen?
Wow iSamsung!? That's more of a software update to the note 3 with a worse battery life. No thank you. My note 3 is better.

I agree with you totally, its more of a software update and more megapixels to the camera, I think all of that can be baked into our note 3, by our developers, not too exited about upgrading to the note 4, and I also expected water resistant.
Yup. With all the kickass devs we have here from Bri, RErick, Mega....and you count, yes, our note 3 is soon going to be a note 4 without the heartbeat sensor that I'd never use. Lol

On at&t they will always be locked. Same with verizon. Tmobile version wont be locked down. I boycotted sammy long ago. My next device will either be the xnomi mi4 or the nexus 6.
I'll pass. The Note 4 turned out like the S5. It's just a "plus" version with no major improvements. In some ways I feel the Note 3 is superior.
As has been said… same phone, minimal improvements. Unless the display is truly that much more impressive I can't justifiably use my two year upgrade to purchase an incremental improvement. With the snapdragon 810 around the corner in 2015 people would just be kicking themselves getting this hardware. Samsung is so bent on beating apple to the punch they shot themselves in the foot by not joining the 64 bit game on this hardware revision. I'm going to wait for android L and all of the things that come with 64 bit goodness.
As cool as the note edge looks, it looks like an expensive, flashy gimmick that will serve no real purpose other than being a footnote in the history of smartphone creation.
That being said, I still love my s pen, and will reserve my final judgments until I have seen them hands on but, like the S5, my first impression is one of thorough disappointment. Go home, samsung. You're drunk.

I've always liked the metal on the phone too. Ever since I saw it on the iPhone.

I had to fix my spelling.. Medal.. lol
Years ago I had this HTC clone that had a metal removable back and have always wanted something similar.
If I could get one of these under $700 unlocked I would grab it. As it is I'll most likely be going with the g3 for under $600.. Wish it was metal though.

Personally I see the Note 4 as big a step forward over the Note 3 as it was over the Note 2 (which IMO was considerable). I've owned the Note 2 and Note 3. It fixes the weak areas of the Note 3 and frankly seems to be a phone with no compromises.
- the metal frame alone is a big deal to me - I HATE the chrome plastic frame of the Note 3. Button feel is supposed to be much better as well.
- the Note 3 screen is good but not great. It's still a touch dim compared to the best LCDs and whites are not quite white yet. If the S5 LTE-A 1440p screen is any indicator, both these areas will be noticeably better than the Note 3 screen. And battery life on the LTE-A with the S805 didn't decrease at all vs. the normal S5 with the same battery size.
- The camera needed to get better - the Note 3 is not great indoors and bad in low light. I end up using my wife's iPhone in low light situations.
- Personally I like the fingerprint scanner (even if it's not as good as TouchID) since my work enforces a password unlock to use it for BYOD.
I'm definitely disappointed. I was hoping for the same water resistant goodness of the s5, and I'm thoroughly dumbfounded as to why Sammy left it out both versions of the new Notes. Love the outward design as far as the metal goes, though. This was more update than upgrade by far. Consider the ball dropped.

And they could've pushed the 3rd side of the Note edge's bezel back a mm or two... Seems too slim for me
There is a sticky to discuss other devices
Thanks
