I have CWM on my S4 and want to switch to TWRP. I tried using the latest GooManager and RecoveryTools. Both say they've installed TWRP and ask if boot into recovery. When I do, it boots into back into CWM. Any ideas on why both are failing to replace CWM?
No idea. Did you try flashing TWRP from the the recovery?
You can find flashable zips in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361378
Open cwm and at the bottom of the main page it gives you the option to use twrp as your recovery, I switched to eventually just uninstalled cwm
* are you flashing twrp by going to goo, menu, install openrecoveryscript?

I flashed a twrp zip and that worked. This is the forth phone I've rooted (droid, htc evo, note2) and the first time I've had this problem.
CWM works but I really like TWRP.

i have CWM flashed on to my NS4g.I created a stock nandroid. When i flashed the stock nandroid CWM did asked me about flashing recovery and then did the reverse psych thing it does (thousand no's one yes.) Anyway I apparently clicked the wrong one and am stuck with CWM. I tried loading another nandroid, then reloading the stock and i didn't even get the option. So know i'm wondering how to get stock recovery back.
You would get a quicker reply in the general section.

Hi. How do I removed / uninstall Philz Touch 5 because I want to try TWRP 2.6.3.0. I had installed Goo Manager and installed TWRP but rebooting to Recovery, it will reboot to Philz TOuch's recovery.
Thank you.
flash this twrp 2.5.0.3 zip in recovery and then reboot recovery. see if it sticks. if it does, stay on that version. i've heard it works better than the newer releases. cheers
Just flash TWRP in your recovery

You can't use that to do it. You have to take that zip file that beerdroid posted and save it to your sd card. Save it in the root so it's easy to find. You have to boot into Philz and flash that zip.
I don't ever recommend the Goo Manager. There has been so many people that has had problems with it, especially after flashing a new ROM. It's not because it's a bad program, it's because sometimes when you flash a new ROM the prop changes so it tricks Goo Manager.
Philz Touch

I'm experiencing the same thing. TWRP wasn't able to load the Cyanogenmod SNAPSHOT, but Philz did and I don't have WiFi just like when I loaded the unstable version so I'm trying to delete Philz and it won't go away. Why did my TWRP disappear? arghhh...... I wish I had a Nexus 5.

hey guys plizz help me,im using the philz touch recovery on my Micromax a120 for a decent long time, last night i go to the Advanced option then to the GUI preferences, then Change Background option since i never bother to go there before, and in the background change options,im not very sure, but i think it was the Reset Koush Background option that i've selected, and now whenever i go into recovery the screen doesn't show me any option but a complete pink-ish screen, how do i reset my settings now,can anyone give me some suggestions
I flashed the att boot image to get twrp recovery using flashify. It worked great but now my question is if I delete flashify will it get rid of my twrp recovery? Since I now use quick boot that came with clean Rom xe 1.1 Also is the backup that I did in twrp or flashify. Sorry for the noob question but I appreciate the help greatly.

YOU should be fine....
Flashify just writes the partition. The backup was in TWRP. To confirm, check /sdcard/TWRP/Backups/ to find your backup. You can safely delete Flashify and use whatever means you'd like to boot into recovery.
Deleting Flashify shouldn't cause any problems for TWRP.
Ok, I'm looking to join the KitKat bandwagon and unfortunately twrp does not want to play nicely with the zip I wish to flash. Folks have suggested the latest CWM non touch as a better option and might give me more luck!
I have tried flashing the latest CWM zip for the Nexus 4 through TWRP, yet when I reboot and go back into recovery TWRP remains there! I tried flashing the CWM img in Wugfresh, yet TWRP remains!
Any ideas?
Thank you.
Download cwm img and flash it using fastboot

Hello everyone! Think that I did something kinda stupid today..but not sure. I have installed cwm recovery (philz version, latest) but today I was transfering over a backup to my pc (I removed it from phone to pc), well that was what I thought..(the file was TWRP, since it was a twrp nandroid backup and I had twrp before cwm) so later, when I tried to go to recovery, I couldn't, I tried with FreeGee, but nothing happened...so does this mean that I have lost my recovery? I tried to put the files back on phone where they was but it doesn't seem like that have helped...
So any other methods to get into recovery mode? And have I lost it by deleting a twrp file containing a backup and a twrps. file on 2kb?
P.s when I look into the TWRP folder, I don't have the twrps file....is that the problem, and what is that file? Is it loki or something?
P.S 2: My phone is working fine..
Anyone?
If you're still rooted, you could install Goo Manager, which will allow you to install a recovery.

I do have root, and I am running cloudystock 1.2 (kitkat), but can I just install a recovery since I am on a stock kitkat rom? Think I have done it now.....
What ROM did you have when you first installed cwm?
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I had stock 4.2.2 rom when I first installed recovery, but I overwrited my twrp recovery and installed cwm (that too on stock 4.2.2 rom
Try installing Quick Boot (free in the Play Store.) It provides an easy way to boot into recovery. This should show whether CWM or TWRP are still on your phone.
