so,my question is ,is there any fix for this? I find the phone imposible to hold in hand after couple minutes of browsing or gaming. Is there a software fix, like a kernel or smth? Or just hardware like coolers.
I have it since last thursday and im not satisfied at all with this issue.

If u only get temps around 40°C when heavy gaming not only u shouldn't be worried but u should be happy most users get 50+
I was video calling on skype and checking something on the browser around 50°C is what i got ... it's uncomfortable but normal for the s4

I got the undervolt from Adam kernel so maybe this is why. So my probl is solved,i tought i have a replica or fake gs4. Thanks

So i discovered that 40°C was the temp for batt(stupid app) and the cpu tem was actually 67°C !! I played real racing 3 for like 30 minutes. So,i ask again, should I worry about this?

I m not a gamer myself to be sure about this ... but from what i ve heard that's normal too
which firmware do u have?

MG 9,with MG9 modem

You can try disable samsung link and hub, the phone usually cool down a little.
The only way i find to really solve this is flashing a custom rom, now its around 40/45º. Way better than previously 50/55º.

46°C isn't really overheating, and it happens to me also when I'm playing Bad Biggies, also sometimes when I'm charging. As far as I know, there is nothing we can do about it, though some people have said that its better to take the back case off when you're playing.

Thanks for reply.
But before i rooted my phone and started to test different ROMs my temperature was OK i mean like 35 while playing.
And my android always warns me
(i think that 46 is really hot cus on battery it says that its better to keep temperature below 45c and its really hot when 46)
I even tried to use setCPU to use less Mhz but it didnt help
btw i use 3.0.8 kernel (if this matters)

Some ROMs overclock your device. btw, what are your CPU clocks at the moment? Also, if you live in warm countries, that might explain the overheating.

My phone usually gets hot when I'm using 3g but don't get more than 2 bars of signal, try switching to 2g if you know that you're in a place where you won't get a good connection. Or even better, when you're talking, you might as well just turn mobile data off

op.. its supposed to get hot. that's why it has a glass back, to cool off quicker. thats why you feel the heat. if you are worried about heat, dont buy a quad core device. buy a dumb phone and itll remain cool.
but that is not a problem with s4 or note 2 ??
so that doesnt justify

its not a problem with the n4 either. the problem is all in your head. again, it has a glass back to transfer the heat out of the phone quicker. because its glass, you will feel it more. s4 and the note 2 have plastic backs, so you feel it less.
---------- Post added at 01:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:44 PM ----------
besides op, what temperature is it reaching that you are complaining about, how it feels isnt an accurate temperature reading.
Guys stop embarrassing me
Actually I'm not comparing about heat on the back that's tolerable but its get way too got near the earpiece so that's why I'm complaining
I notice it a lot when I get a call in between my 3G usage

way too hot is what temperature(cpu temp)? im not trying to embarrass you, im trying to let you know that its normal, but you refuse to accept it. so, give more detail, what temp is your phone reaching? hot isnt an answer, hot and feel are relative terms.
The s4 does get hot too, I just had it.
But on the bright side, the nexus 4 is cozy in the winter

there are a few out there, i use the trinity kernel toolbox app. just search cpu temp in the play store. for battery, 60C is the safety temp. for cpu, 95C or 100C is the safety temp. the cpu os near the top of the phone, thats why it feels hot near the earpiece. its normal for the phones cpu temp to shoot up while the cpu is being used. when the screen goes off, itll cool down quickly.
im using trinity kernel now and have installed the toolbox and it shoe 1026 hz clock ??
why is it undervolted ?

Thats not undervolted, and I suggest you dont touch voltages atm and if you do make sure "set on boot" isnt checked.
That speed is just set lower, not sure if that kernel does that for you but you can set that higher if you wish.
all right ....running trinity and its not that hot now

I think it is completely normal.
It is already a very hot summer. (I guess "H" means you are in Asia )
The phone is complete water resistant and there is no way to pass the air inside it.
Don't keep your phones flash ON during video shooting.
Don't play heavy games like Asphalt 8 for a long time.
Don't browse for a long time on 3G or don't download big files on 3G.
Just do these things until summer ends.

once time get heat my phone sm-g900H
and after restart, ever again heat the phone..only when i play games a lot of time goes 38 Celsius..
I live in Greece
i think that the specific model (sm-g900H) is the most optimized for all device
I think, it's a defect. Or should I say, it's normal. Every time I play heavy games, yes, my battery's getting so hot. Unless, we're talking about very very hot and making your battery empty, yes, you need to consult a technician.
i have the same problem, I think it's normal.
Try lowering your Max CPU speed to 1728mhz. This will reduce overheating drastically. You need to be rooted though.

[Q] Note 4 heating, hardware or software?

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a new note 4 St N910C. Just after a day of usage I felt that it is getting hot when I play games on it. I closed all the background apps even resetted it but still no luck. My phone is getting heated up near the camera area. My question is that is this a hardware issue or a software one, because if it is a hardware issue I should try and get it replaced, if a software one I should better wait for a lollipop update.
Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated
Thanks

Well i bought this unit after along study of whether to get the exynos version or the snapdragon version, in my opinion I found the exynos to be better because many users suggested that this version does not heat up and works better, but now as I'm using it personally I think it heats up alot, the temperature I get is around 36-38 degrees.

Galaxy Note 4 heating [camera]
I purchased Galaxy Note 4 [SM-N910G] a week back. It's on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat)
I am having a different problem for which I could not find any satisfying solution on the Internet. Whenever I open camera app, the phone starts heating up near camera & battery also drains very quickly [around 2% under 5 min.]
I know that the phone will heat up a little bit when playing high graphics games, but I don't think it should heat up too much when using camera app.
I have already factory reset [both soft & hard reset] the phone, but still it does not help. I contacted Samsung support, & they told me to 'Reset app preferences' from Application manger, but still the device heats up when using camera app.
I also cleared data of the camera app, but still the issue remains
The phone does not heat up at all on standby mode, but opening camera app raises it's temperature more than it should. Previously a Note 2 user, this problem was not there.
Anyone else experiencing the same issue on Note 4 ? Any ideas on this ?
The phone heats up only if you're recording 4k or 2k video. If you use camera generally & your device heats up.You must get your device checked

You can factory reset all day, it won't help. Thats not a problem, the camera just uses a lot of processor power and thus generates heat. You can't change that, you have to live with it
My note 4 with ****y snapdragon heat like fire
I wanna replace it because of the overheating I can't something even hold it I put is always in freezer to cold it
With cpu temp app it gave me 60c even without games the :crying:best value was 40c but when I put it in freezer it down to 30c

Sorry, but do you have any idea about CPU temperatures? 60 isn't bad. 40 isn't bad. 30 isn't bad. Even 70° and occasionally 79° would be acceptable. Don't put your phone into the freezer, ity not good to freeze the hardware.. Especially if you literally have no problem. The CPU is prone to temperature fluctuations and your values are fully normal in the world of CPUs. There is no best value, everything up to 70° is the normal temperature variation. Your phone doesn't have a problem, its perfectly fine.
Mine actually heats up while charging and using at same time. Clean master shows 70-75°C cpu temperature while using browser and stuff but 80+ while gaming, that's not normal right? I'm worried cuz I always used my old phones while charging and they never got this hot, I feel like it will melt someday :/ In what temperatures exynos operates?
I got my SM-N910F yesterday and installed LP 5.0.1 via OTA. Temperatures are 40+ when the phone isnt doing anything. While I did the Antutu Benchmark, it was around 50-52 degrees (Celsius). Feels much warmer than my previous Note 3 (which of course never had LP). And since i am not used to this temparature on my Note 3, i kinda worry about the temps right now. I read a lot that many have that problem since LP update. So whats normal and what would be too high for regular usage (not using Camera or playing Games) ? Is there an average i can go by and compare ?
And whats my alternatives now if I want lower temps , go back to 4.4.4 Stock Rom (currently have LP 5.0.1 Stock) or do I try a 5.x Custom ROM . Did the Custom ROMS fixed these heating problems or is that just something I have to live with ?
Thanks for any help.

S7 edge overheats too much that during tethering and charging at the same time

Hey guys , today when i was using mobile hotspot and my battery was low so i connected charger and used tethering while charging , but after some 30 min when i touched my phone again , it was as hot as a grilled chicken and even my hands were hurting when i touched it , i think it was 80 degrees + , but i didnt had the software to check temps , but it was hurting to touch , so i wanted to ask that if its normal and happens to everybody while using mobile hotspot while charging ? Also my phone was so hot , but it didnt shown any warning nor it rebooted or shut itself off , but i immediately turned it off when it was that hot , but i have to say that i never experienced any such extent of hotness before on this phone , even i did browsing , games and huge multitasking , this was the first time it was that hot , so should i not use tethering altogether ? And if its common issue ? Pls guide me. Thanks.
Edit : I never used fast charging or wireless charging
Any hint guys ?
Anyone pls?

Will get you a temperature. Feeling hot to touch could be anything above ~40-50C as proteins cook at ~42C. This is normal range. 80C is pushing it. Find us an actual temperature first.
Any questions, feel free to ask

Thanks for reply bro , however i used tethering now and installed the app you suggested to monitor temps, but to my surprise, i couldnt get it on that level of hotness even using tethering while charging with apps running , but as i said before it was much hot without any apps running with only tethering and charging.
Phone info app said temp was 42 degree when it was ok to my hand , but i can only guess that if my hand is uncomfortable due to hot phone it should be around 70 ~ 80 degrees , but it was damn hot at that time , i dont know why i couldnt get it heat up to same level , i will report back if i got heat issue again , also i request everyone to see if their phone also does this behaviour. Thanks

Glad it's not happening again. If it's a one off then I reckon dont worry about it. If it happens again, get us a temp and let us know.

Hey bro , just got the issue today , but a little less hot than that but it was still much , the weird thing is that when it was that hot , the phone info app showed 85 to 90% cpu usage , but i was doing nothing , no background apps , and all apps on sleep through device mantainence , and i was only using mobile hotspot while charging , now phone was extremely hot and i did a restart and took screenshot which is attached
Now i dont know the reason of this weird behaviour. After restart temps dropped from 49 degree to 45 according to app , before restart it was 49 degree and cpu at 85% to 90% load , after restart cpu showed normal load and temps began to low , when i took ss it was 45 degree, so i guess in real life it could be more than what app was telling because my hands felt like burning when touching phone , so at previous occasion when that happened and i created this thread , temps must be around 55 ~ 65 degree range , thats really strange behaviour though. Any hints from anyone appreciated
Hey guys , i guess no one has this issue ? Or any hint pls
