[Q] [HELP] Sideloading Apps with 'obb' on Secondary Users [HELP] - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello xda,
I'm presently experiencing problems with sideloading apps that have external data that is stored in Android/obb, on a secondary user account. For example, if I'm on my primary account(the one with which the tablet was set up) I simply copy the 'obb' data to Android/obb, install the apk and that's it. However, when I'm on a Secondary user account, the apk is installed without any issues, but the account refuses to acknowledge any 'obb' data. Even, if I go to Settings --> Apps, I'm only shown the apk size.
I noticed however, that if any app that uses 'obb' data is downloaded through the Play Store, work fine.
EDIT: I was wondering whether this app can solve my problem:
- Play Store Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=app_announcement
- xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033167
Any kind of help is excessively appreciated.

[Q] Try to install an app, Play Store says it's already there

I'm trying to download a news app from the Play Store, and the play store gives me the ''install'' option as if I don't have it.
However, every time the download finishes, my phone tells me it is not able to install as the app is already there.
I recently switched ROMs so had backed up my apps with Titanium. When I tried to restore everything with Titanium, it seems this particular had some kind of problem and didn't restore. So I feel like some corrupted part of this app is on my phone/SD card but android isn't seeing it (to let me uninstall)
If I browse the SD card, is there anywhere I can go to completely delete this app? In titanium somewhere?

[Q] Backdoored Apps

Hey guys, I just want to ask these couple of questions:
1. I want to download an apk from an unknown source (not from google play). Given if it has a backdoor or something in it, will it be removed after I uninstalled it?
2. Is there a way to know if the application is backdoored or not before installing to my device?
3. Is there some applications that automatically blocks an app if it access for example my contacts, gallery or emails?
4. Are there apps that on the permission screens, all are not listed? Let's say on the permission popout only access to gallery is shown but the app can access my messages. Is it possible?
Thanks for the response guys.
I have a Galaxy s4 i9505. Android 4.3 unrooted.

Google Play Store Crashing

Hi Everyone,
I am currently using the latest CM build 13 (07/07/2016) and having some issues downloading Snapchat.
When I click on Snapchat in Playstore it just crashes.
I have wiped my phone and freshly installed the build again and same issue occured.
I thought it might have been the G Apps i installed so using the G Apps Open and G App base from CM both provided the same result no change.
I downloaded the snapchat apk and installed it that way but when i try to launch it snapchat crashes.
I am running out of ideas has anyone else ran into this problem ?
Running Correct Date/Time, Removed Cache and Data from Playstore, Snapchat, Play Services.
EDIT: I had to format everything on my phone (Backed up data of course) this has resolved the issue not sure why though.
I know with the TF101 droid tablet, running certain custom ROMs requires you to format the internal storage with a certain version of TWRP, otherwise the Play Store will error out

Am I having problems updating the ROM, or it's just a hardware issue?

Hello, I'm having a problem I could not solve even after searching in many forums and video tutorials.
My situation is as follows. Due to technical problems in my Galaxy Y GTS-5310 (it suffered some sort of electric pane that disabled the camera and the input of the headset), I decided to buy a GTS-5360.
The GTS-5310 device was ok to run all applications I used normally, with 4.1.2 Jellyfish. Whenever any updated version of any app was not available on Google Play for some reason (with some exceptions here and there), I've always been able to install it directly through the SD Card.
As I imagined, this new device (with old 2.6.1 Gingerbread) did not recognize the installation of most apps I used (such as Whatsapp, Waze or Instagram). I have managed to install only few of them, like Facebook Lite or Root Browser, and only through the SD Card.
On this new phone, the Google Play Store always shows me a message of incompatible versions (either with Error 492 or simply not making the download button available). Whenever I try to install any of these through SD Card (by downloading the .apk file directly to my computer, be it in Google Chrome or Firefox), then Parse Error appears ("There is a problem parsing this package").
So my first attempt was to use Google Market Helper to change the ROM record as it is viewed by Google Play. However, even changing the version registration of the device to a more upgraded one, this did not work.
The next step was to actually install a new ROM. I have since tried Hyperion 9.0 (2.6), then I try upgrading to Lollipop (4.4), which runs ok, except for installing these apps. As far as I know, the latter should accept the download and installation of most of the apps mentioned above. But whatever I tried, I kept getting the same error messages (Error 492 via Google Market, Parse Error via SD Card).
Since then, some of the suggestions I've followed have not worked either. These include deleting the .android_secure folder from the SD Card, then clearing the cache of processes such as the Google Play Store and Google Framework, as well as clearing the dalvik cache through CWM and rebooting. I did this more than once, but the problem persisted.
I wonder now whether even upgrading the Galaxy Y GTS-5360 to a compatible ROM such as Lollipop is enough for being able to run these applications due to hardware issues.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Hi, galaxy y s5360 just support gingerbread is the reason of pars error when you install higher android apps.
About 492, any notification( log in error or gtalk...)?
Did you tried:
- Turn off device, Delete that folder on computer, then flash the rom again
- log in new gg acc
