[Q] APN Deleted - MF3 Rooted - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and need some help. I have an MF3 rooted GS4. Last night I did a factory reset and after going through the process, I received a message that said com.android.phone process stopped working. I tried to make a call and had no issues. I was also connected to home wifi so no data issues. Today I added ATT visual voicemail (worked before the reset) and couldn't get an authentication and it said check APN. I go into that and notice the settings are gone and there is no option for Phone or ATT - I also can't access any 4G LTE data. I found some APN settings, entered and then it worked. I then did one more reset to ensure all was well and start from scratch and the processed stopped message showed up again.
Edit: this also shows up each time I restart the phone. Eventually goes away and LTE Data shows up.
Why does the process show up after reboot? Is there anything I can do to make the error go away? Anything wrong with using the APN manually entered if it works?
Thanks for any help you can provide

So I found out that the APN settings stick and I have LTE, but the error shows up twice on each reboot. Hoping someone can help me to get this fixed.

Forgot to back Droid X NVRAM

So as I was en route to completing a full flash of my Droid X onto Cricket I couldn't get my web working. Two things I hadn't done were my autosh files and my NVRAM from whiterabbit.org I got my NVRAM file from whiterabbit and wrote it to the phone. it wrote. I restarted the phone and everytime it starts it goes to 1x , then up to 3g, then restarts. everytime. Just enough time to allow me to put it into airplane mode so that I can try to fix it. I didn't backup my NVram sadly so if anyone has a backup please send it my direction. It would be greatly appreciated. this is fixable since i can access my phone still.
-Update today-
Not sure if it means anything but i went into QPST and switched my Mobile IP behavior from mob+simp f/back to simple ip only and it and now it doesnt constantly restart i switched it to mobile ip only, same result, but data still isnt working yet. switching back to mob+simp f/back makes it restart it seems.n
Also noticed that when I turn on my wifi and I switch it to simple IP only it still puts me in a reset loop.

Did you also write the PRL to the phone after writing the NVRAM? Your PRL should be version 49027. mob+simp f/back will need to be enabled.
If you want to start over, you can SBF to .340 or use the maderstcok zip .340 and your DX will be up to date and fully stock.
I've used bootstrap and rom manager to go back to stock before altering web so that isn't an issue anymore. I've stopped trying the nvram. Everytime I enter the proxy info fully inthe phone manually the phone does the 1x 3g then reset loop. Im guessing something is forcing a reset but can't figure it out. I went into test mode once to force 1x only and keep out 3g but alas it still looped. Ideas? Im also installing log cat to see if maybe a log.can tell me why the phone soft resets during the.loop
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Im using prl 49027. I've narrowed it down to possible glitch. Upon entering the info for the proxy manually it goes into 1x then 3g then reader loop. Ivebeen using a stock backup to revert to prior tweaking so I can keep trying to figure this out if u have a exact method u use im all ears. Or just ideas. Im running out lol
Also one more thing, ive just entered in the proxy information manually via the cell phone and the phone hasnt given me a boot loop like it used to, still the internet isnt working yet so im going to go into QPST and see if just changing the mobile IP setting throws me into the loop again...EDIT: it sends me into a soft restart loop since its on mob+simp f/back again... catlog didnt show anything that i can see sadly. the soft restart forces the log to stop and doesnt show why it did.switched it back to mobile ip only and stopped the reboot cycle but no data at all ugh...
EDIT: used my backup again after the reboot cycle issue , found out that after i end up using a NVRAM i get the boot loop again...so in other words i unfortunately have to factory reset because i used the NVRAM addon, one thing i noticed was it updated 11 things, not 12. not sure why. moving on..

So you did this in QPST:
-----NV items from http://www.whiterabbit.org/android (you must generate this uniquely for your phone, go to the link enter [email protected] replace x's with your 10 digit phone number, make sure 2.7 is selected and download the file)
----Now go to the Memory tab. Under NV Items click Write. Browse and select
the NV Item file you generated earlier. Once its done it will say 12 NV
Items were successfully written to the phone
-----I used the PRL attached to do the OTA. (CricketEVDO_38515.prl). I had to put .zip at the end to upload it, so just rename it to CricketEVDO_38515.prl.
-----Now go to the Other tab. Under PRL click Write and browse to the destination you saved the attached file.
Let me know if this helps at all.
I sent NV items from the whiterabbit but this time it updated 12 items, not sure why it did 11 the first time. i also updated the prl to 38515 still no internet though, going into pst to see if the mobile ip behavior is the way its supposed to, update in a sec
UPDATE: phone was set to mobile ip only switched back to mob + simp f/back. and VOILA. 4:28am two weeks later and BAM internet and voice I will be writing a tutorial basing what ive learned into a stable 99% success rate for flashing droid x to cricket, ive only seen a handful out there and im sure i can hepl someone the way everyne has assisted me. thank you everyone. also just upgraded to 49027 prl for 3g and works great not enough 1x coverage where i live sadly.

[Q] WiFi but no mobile

Hoping for some knowledgeable assistance here because FreedomPop has been no help. Two issues, probably related:
I have the SPH-720T 0A3 activated with FreedomPop but it only works over WiFi. I can't connect over 3G/LTE.
I get the Sprint Hands Free Activation on bootup and whenever I try to update Profile and PRL.
I'm rooted and have TWRP. I've tried a couple of ROMs, but they had the same behavior, so I reverted back to stock. I tried changing to CDMA mode and that brings up the 3G icon, but still no data access. It boots up with no APN checked and without the FreedomPop APN; I added the FP APN, but it doesn't help and disappears on reboot. I tried changing MDN and MSID to my FP phone number, but that also hasn't helped and they revert back on reboot. Mobile data is on.
I would appreciate any help on figuring out what exactly the problem is and whether I can fix it or if there is something I can go to FreedomPop or Sprint with and tell them what needs to be done. I'm new to all this but don't mind learning or following directions.
Many thanks.

HELP I broke my LTE

First off I'm using an unlocked S5 on straight talk's LTE network, have been for about 9 months with no problems. I've talked to support twice and they reactivated networks and all that good stuff, and when none of that worked sent me a new sim, which I have just activated and it still didn't fix my problem - so I'm finally bringing my issue here.
Last week I decided to update from phoenix rom oc4 (I think it was oc4) to optimal rom og5 (15-5). Anyway I was hasty in flashing and messed up, so just went back to stock ncg > root > full wipe > flash firmware, rom, kernel, firmware again just to be safe. The rom works fine except I seem to have lost my data connection. The 4G icon still shows, but it's not filled in - as you can see in the screenshots. To make it even more strange, when I check the network and sim card in apps like Advance Signal Status and Sim Manager, I still seem to be getting a connection to 4G but there is just no data flowing. The only error I can see is in phone info, when I run a ping test, I get PingIpAddr: Fail: IP addr not reachable which you can also see in the screenshots. It would appear this is my problem but I don't know where to go from here. I'm going to start flashing different versions of modems, starting with oc4 to see if that helps. Then I'll probably try different roms, but I've flashed other roms trying to fix this and even restored the backup to when it worked and it still didn't fix my problem. Did I wipe my IP address or something maybe? I am in CDMA/LTE mode, and the vzwinternet apn is selected.
For starters try to put the apn settings for your carrier and if not sure call them and ask them to email you the setting
I fixed it, went back to stock ncg instead of ni2 and that worked. Weird.

Latest update botched data - any ideas?

Hey guys,
I have an S8+ from Canada (unlocked, purchased direct from Samsung). The latest update seems to have killed off the ability to get data working, everything else is fine.
The update went as normal, but as soon as it rebooted it was out of action. I've since reconfigured APN settings, wiped the cache partition, reset the network and performed a factory reset - no dice.
I swapped sim cards with another GS8 - my sim worked fine in the other phone and that sim didn't work in mine.
Anyone have any ideas?
Kind Regards,
Michael

Is your APN settings still intact after the update? Check under settings>mobile network>access point names. That's most likely the problem, you might have to Google the APN for your current carrier and add it to your APN list, then select it. If that isn't the problem make sure you have the proper network mode selected (ex. CDMA, LTE, Global,...) if you need further help don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the reply - yea that was the very first thing I checked. No dice!
Do you have the proper network type selected for your carrier?
