i got a unique problem. Im involved with a couple different group of friends with more than 10 people. It seems like when there is less than 10 people in the group text there is no problem and everything goes in the same thread. But if there are more than 10 people than i get a few people who come in separate threads but i check my buddys iphone and his doesn't have that problem. My guess is that either android or straight talk limits it to 10 people to a single group mms and the following people left go in another thread. I say this because all my group messages with 10+ people all only show 10 numbers and not the rest.
Anyone have this problem? I use gosms and am on straight talk at&t

I've looked throughout the forum and I haven't found any concrete answer to my problem. Is there any way I can receive group texts across platforms? So if my friend sends a text from his iphone to multiple people (including other iphone and android users), it will show in one thread? If there is a solution, can someone post step by step instructions? I saw that ATT messages does this but I don't like the UI. Sorry, I am new to android and would really appreciate the help.
EDIT: Also, if my friend sends that group text, if does show up in a thread, when I respond I want the app to respond back to everyone in that thread....thanks for the help guys
Without a 3rd party app, it's not possible. If your friends get Chat On or Whatsapp (I have both and they are both very good since they use data instead of cell to send messages. Also super fast), you could group chat across all platforms.
EDIT: Also some extra info about the apps, they are connected to your phone number so as long as anyone installs it, you will see them on your list. No need for usernames or anything, it uses your number. I also prefer the Whatsapp app because I guess it's a bit cleaner you could say but they are both good.
You can do group texting with Handcent and goSMS...need to enable an option in settings.
Ive just started doing group mms...its a great feature. But sometimes i get confused. One of my buddies sent out a group mms to about 12 or so people and only three were in the same thread and the rest were just coming in on their own message. The wierd thing was tho, on each message it showed that there was the same 12 people. I dont know why it went to a single thread for some people and not the same thread. I do group mms all the time between iphone and my nexus 4 so thats not the problem. Anyone got any ideas?
Everyone has to have group messaging on their end for all of the messages to show up in the same text you got. If the person responding does not have group messaging capabilities it will come to you as a separate text

Every time I send a group message that includes one of my friends, his messages always get sent back to me individually rather than as part of the group thread like all the others. Does anyone know why this may be? I'm fairly certain he's the only one that I have this problem with, though everyone else I've group messaged in recent memory was using an iPhone (though I'm pretty sure I had no problems with other androids in the past). He's also using a S4, but on Verizon. His messages still are listed as a MMS on my end (it's the only thing that tells me that he responded to the group rather than just me), and I believe the iPhone user in the threat is receiving his messages as a group just fine, but I'm still getting this issue. Additionally, I do not have this problem when my brother is in a group thread and he is using a S4 on Sprint. Is there some setting I can change to correct this, or is the problem on his end? If it is him, do you have any suggestions for what he may be able to change? We're both using the stock messaging app. It's really annoying because it often causes me to accidentally reply to just him rather than the whole group.
are you sure he isn't selecting to do a individual reply?

Just updated the post, sorry for not being specific earlier. I'm pretty sure because it comes in as a MMS and I think the guy in the chat with an iPhone receives them as a group just fine. Turns out my friend with an S3 also responds individually and not as an MMS, so I guess it's dependent on the sender, but since I know this guy has an S4 and I know that his phone supports this feature (because I know the S3 does not), I don't understand why this is happening.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (AT&T) and group text with 3 iPhone users. I get reports from them that my text will send multiple times sometimes. I personally believe this is the result of two different OS's trying to work together. Each of the other 3 users are on T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T for what it's worth. Does anyone else have this happen to them? Occasionally it will happen in a one on one text but it's usually a group text situation when it happens.
Does anyone have this happen to them? I can't be the only person.
Hello everyone.
AT&T, using Google Messenger
I tried searching, but didn't see my problem. I'm currently on a group messaging thread with about 10 people. I get every person's reply as individual threads, but each of those threads have everybody on it. That is Bobby sends a group text, I get what seems to be a group text (Messenger lists "Bobby, Joan, Rosa, Tom + 6" for example). But then Joan replies to Bobby, I then get another thread with just Joan's messages (every time she replies it goes into the 'Joan' thread, but her thread still lists everyone - as if she started a new conversation). So, it doesn't quite put everyone into their own thread, but it creates new group threads for everyone.
I have Group Messaging (send a single MMS to all recipients) turned on under Settings-Advanced.
Interestingly, I'm in a group thread with 3 people and it has always worked fine, and still works fine.
Help, please! TIA!

Who started the thread?
Seems like they have an issue that you can't resolve.
If you started the thread, you would only get your thread back.
Seems as though the other devices are tagging incorrectly.

My aunt started the thread (iphone, different carrier). Here's the intersting thing, I tested it out with fewer people (someone else starting a new thread, but also an iphone on a different carrier) and it works. it's very annoying because I have 13 conversations going on - and I can't really add to the conversation since my phone will screw it up.
