Hey everyone!
My Nexus 7 will be here Wednesday (YAY!)
And I just read that the USB port isn't MHL
Without buying the Nexus Q (All I have in the country is my 4g tether) how can I use an external monitor on my new tablet?
I noticed that there are 4 pogo pins on the nexus 7 vs the 3 on the galaxy nexus. Is there video out on these? Also my M18x has something called WI-HD that allows me to wirelessly transmit my monitor signal to a reciever connected to my tv. Is there any way my new tab can do something similar? I suppose I can just use my galaxy nexus for my Play TV shows but I was kind of looking forward to playing games on the big screen.
Thanks!
Bump. any suggestions guys?
There is no cable solution... chances are there will be a software WiFi Direct solution, but not yet.
Thanks for the info.

I want to use a Bluetooth headset with my Nexus 7 when I using Skype or Google talk.
But will it work?
Sure, why wouldn't it?

Yes, I just paired my Plantronics BT headset to my N7. Haven't used it for Skype or Google talk yet but imagine it would.
I use Bluetooth with tablet talk and it works well.

Yes it will

No Bluetooth does not work on Nexus 7 and Skype or any other app that uses anything other than telephony audio.
Talkatone uses telephony settings and bluetooth works flawlessly with it. But Skype even using BTMono or other app to redirect audio to bluetooth doesnt work.
I think Skype guys were busy getting Video to work with it they forgot BT....
SipDroid works with BT also.
I just installed a new stereo receiver in my car. It's a JVC KD-X50BT. it works fine to skip tracks and such from the stereo , but it won't display the song name which, according to JVC, is related to the Nexus 4 not supporting bluetooth spp profile. Does anyone know anything about this?

Bluetooth SPP works fine for me, maybe it is the combination with the JVC stereo causing problems...
According to the representative I spoke to the N4 doesn't have the profile, do you know where I could find the correct specs for that?
Also, what media player do you use? I use Google music, I forgot to include that in the OP
Thanks
For what it's worth, I have the same problem on mine. I also had the same problem on my One X.

Same JVC receiver as you. I've used Google Play Music, the stock HTC music, and Pandora. The only way Pandora will display the info is if I use the special JVC-Pandora mode (but then it limits my skips to 5, eventhough I'm on Pandora One).
This sounds like it's an issue with the receiver then. Anyone have any confirmation (spec sheet, etc.) that would confirm that the N4 does indeed support spp so that I can call and rightfully rant?

Check this thread out. It's an issue with stock android and not your head unit. It only shows track info if I play music from Pandora and that's it. It's annoying. I have a Sony head unit.

Final answer (which is in line with all my experiments haha): the Nexus 4 on AOSP does not support the necessary Bluetooth profile (AVRCP 1.3). However some custom ROMs do, CyanogenMod does with the cavet that the feature has not yet been ported to CyanogenMod 10, that is it seems to have worked fine in CM 9 but isn't included in CM 10 yet. So it's just a question of waiting/kindly reminding the devs.

hi i want to use mirror link on my pioneer car head unit and read that the mil adapter is not supported ,is that right ?
yes its been removed. I was unaware when I picked the s7 as my next phone.
I too have discovered this. I now use a mhl wireless dongle amd all cast app... I'm now wireless for films but cannot screen mirror just yet.
