There is a password that I don't know that's somehow embedded in the Samsung stock browser. It should lock me out but it doesn't. I will pay anyone $200 who can somehow extract this password for me so I know what it is.

More details, better description please
There is a password to a website, Facebook to be exact on my works on the Samsung browser. I have the email address which is used to login but not the password. But somehow it works even through the password was changed. So it must be somehow cooked in the system. I need to find out what the password is.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
Well, you're not a "new" user, so that makes the thread less fishy. But still a little fishy.
But your description is fishy and making it hard for me at least, to understand WTF is going on.
Are you missing the password for the email address or for the facebook account? If for the facebook account, then can't you just have them email you a reset password to your email account?
And if it's the email account you're missing a password for, then you're screwed unless you ever gave that email account a SECOND email account that a reset password could be emailed to.
Anyone who tries to help you "recover" a lost password would be:
1) Foolish unless you're some sort of code "god". Because it's damn near impossible, if not totally impossible.
2) Foolish because it's a total security risk. Maybe he's a stalker trying to get his ex-wifes password. Probably not, but you never know.
Good luck, hope you get it figured out.
It sounds like he is saying that he changed his Facebook Password but the browser is still automatically logging in without him telling it the pasword.
It may not really be logging in just he never logged out. My browser let me in straight away.

Flash a new rom. Use a different browser. Wipe your phone? There's a ton of options. Now for the 200$? jkjk

If you have already changed the password, then why in gods name would you pay $200 for the old one? Just log out, then log back in with the new password. Problem solved. Old password will be disregarded due to the change of session. The only possible reason you would need the old password is either curiosity, or its not your account. Other than that, the old password is absolutely useless.
Something smells fishy in this thread.....
@rebel
I don't need the old password.. I'm trying to figure out the new one.. Or perhaps it just never logged me out from the old one that's a good point. But I would assume somehow it would know I don't have the new password and kick me off. The reason I want to figure this out is I'm stuck to this phone if I want to continue access.. No new roms and I'm a flashaholoc. I understand this is a strange request and there is speculation as to my intentions.. But my bounty is legit.. $200 to anyone who can figure this out.

If you need to know your own new password but don't remember it. Reset your password via reset password link and set yourself a new password. While at it go to settings, applications, all apps, find the stock browser, clear data and cache. Facebook will no longer be active via no previous logins anymore. Start fresh, same device, same Facebook, new password.
There should be no reason as to why you can't reset your own Facebook password if you seriously just set a new one. I had a friend try this once to try and get a girlfriends password.

Apparently not for him since he so concerned to figure out the password without having to reset it... Willing to pay 200 to avoid having to simply reset it.

Like above poster said I smell something fishy here. Maybe its his girlfriends or ex girlfriend and he's trying to get her password Lol jk

My recommendation and maybe the easiest (cheapest!) and perhaps proper solution is to simply reset your Facebook password again and go through all your connections and update the password again. No need to go through a hassle to crack your own forgotten password. I've forgotten many passwords and had to reset more times than I want to remember (it's always the password I did not log in my password program too
On the other hand, asking folks here if they can decrypt your (old) password that was saved in browser is already evoking some unpleasant questions -whether your intention and situation is above board or not. It's kind of an unnecessary hassle for you, too!
There are sites that focus on cracking passwords and all that, but I have not seen XDA threads focused on that -might be, but I don't know.
XDA folks who are happy to create roms, figure out bootloader exploits and other helpful things that make us all happy with our phones and tablets are pretty much honest and above board. When requests seem strange -well, you've see the reaction already. :good::good:
Good Luck
There's no other password. You just have a cookie telling Facebook you're still logged in. Clear cookies and cache and you're done.
duplicate thread?

What puzzles me -and does raise a question is that this thread request of yours seems to be the same question you asked in a thread you started on 23rd July 2013, 12:21 PM. Is this the same situation unresolved? Or, is it another password from another program??
I had looked at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43881656#post43881656
That fishy smell is getting stronger.

If I buy a paid app in the market (I have never bought one before), and then I root the phone (delete everything on it) or change the phone how do I get those paid apps back without paying for them again?
They always show up under your "downloads" and you can download them again at any time.

but how if I have never create an account how does the market know that I Bought that app.
with my ipad it's ok. since I have to create an account to buy apps. So I get it, but with the android I don't understand since I haven't create any account to buy apps in the android market
You have to create a gmail account to even access the market. I dunno how you would've bypassed this...
And rooting the phone won't delete anything on it

^ its flashing custom roms that "deletes" apps... you have to have a Google account, the app will permanently be on your account and you can re-download the app anytime.
The apps are tied to your Google account, so there's no need to create sone sort of new account for the market. They will always be under downloads on any Android phone you will get.

I thought i'd try to see what syncing flickr does. It does nothing great, but now how can I remove this sync?
There is no option to remove, whereas everything else that is synced liked google or facebook allows me to remove the account.
Thanks.
That would've been my best advice if you hadn't already tried. I don't have a Flickr account so I wouldn't be able to replicate the issue.

The funny thing is that you don't even need an account to sync. Go into the sync section, select flickr, and you can put in whatever name you want.
Hmm alright then. I'll check it out later and see if mine does this as well. You just want to be able to delete it because it isn't doing anything right? It's not actually harming your device?

Not an answer, but I just email pics to my flickr account. Best option in my opinion.

Correct. It is not harming my device, but simply adding another line item to the list of services to sync. I would just like it to not be there anymore since I don't want to use it.

Also in my contacts group area I now get a "unknown" group from flickr that I also cannot remove because of the sync.
Had the same exact problem. Ended up doing a factory reset to get rid of it. What a PITA!

Makes sense. Finally off work so I will be able to play with it. Sounds like you all have the same deal going on. Maybe a software update will add the ability to delete since a factory reset is a drastic step.

Anybody knows what happens to your Nexus 7 after you reported lost/stolen? What does Google disables? How long does it take for Google to send you a new one?
Called Google and they say the 2 level department that handles losses usually takes 3-4 days for them to reply to you after you reply with "I CONSENT" which authorizes Google to disable your previous device. I am on day 4 so far nothing...
What exactly are they going to disable if never received it?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
not 3g,no imei, how can they disabled it.
Mac address maybe. But its easy to change with Mac changer....
Why are you worried or curious as to what or how they'll disable a N7 that you don't have? I wouldn't care what disabling a N7 I didn't have entailed. Just curious.

Linked to your account in terms of your email address for purchase history with the play store only.Google doesn't put anything on the device that would link you to it.

what do you mean by "linked"? It was "linked" before you even turned it on to sign in to your gmail? It already knew who you were before doing anything? Linked how?
There is an option when you checkout asking you if you want it linked to the account you checked out on. If you select yes they do add your account to the device before you get it.

The email account is setup and presumably all the apps are setup (saving you a few seconds maybe). It does still ask for the password before you can use it though.

I honestly don't know.
All I know is that the N7 I got from play store I checked the box to link to my account, the one I got from Curry's obviously didn't have the option.
The only difference between the two is that I had to enter my password into the linked one and had to enter my email and password into the not linked one. I could not see any difference whatsoever besides.

Ok, that's cool...thanks for the explanation. I'm seriously just trying to understand what's the big deal about Google disabling a device that I never received. Maybe the op did have the account linked....but I honestly can't see Google having that big of a security issue open by sending out devices that are linked already....for situations like this where the device doesn't get to the owners hands in delivery.

My Nexus 4 was stolen a few hours back.. I have activated the android device manager but I had only activated the remote ring option. The remote lock and wipe options aren't activated.. As I see this options are greyed out...
Now what I am requesting help here is:
1. If the thief changes the Sim card, can I still track the location of phone using device manager? I called Google helpline and they confirmed this but I am not sure if they understood my question correctly.
2. All my Google and other passwords are saved on the device. So if I change my Google account password, can I still access the android device manager remotely?
I couldn't find these specific answers online hence creating this new thread... Any inputs are appreciated!

To get to to the point tapatalk was not letting me reply or start new threads on any of the forums I was a member to. So naturally I went to tapatalk to get support, however the only interface offered is a support forum through the tapatalk app itself. Well if I can write anything, How am I supposed to get my questions answered (from what I'm reading nobody monitors that forum anyhow) . So I played with the app to make sure I was logged in when I happened on a message that that said my account needed to be "validated", so I clicked on the link in the email and validated my account, but I'm still unable to respond to anything. So I decided to just uninstall and reinstall (with a reboot in between) to see if that fixes anything. Now it won't let me login, telling me that my password and/or username was invalid. Well I clicked on forgot password and Enter my email address and it told me that there was no account available. So I said f*ck it I'll just create a new account, but when I attempted to do that it said my email address already has an account associated with it and to log in using that account.
OK I'm going around in circles here and I realize that this might not be the best place to ask but... Does anyone know a way I can contact the taptalk folks WITHOUT using the tapatalk app? I combed through their Web page looking for an email addy and no joy. Please help if you have any other ideas.
There's an email on the Play Store entry for contacting them. [email protected]
