cant use NFC with qi charger installed - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi does any one know why i cant use nfc when my qi receiver installed in my gs4 ,the nfc works perfectly with it out ,there is no aluminium foil around receiver cheers

The NFC antenna is in the battery, which the Qi charger probably overlays.
You need an external antenna that connects to the second pair of pins, I don't know where you can get one though.

It is hit and miss.... I find that its almost 50/50 chance of working when you want it to. Try running the nfc tag lower on the phone, not in the middle. Seems to work better for me...

Hi just bought a Hong Kong model i9505 S4 and noticed that there seems to be a missing nfc chip attached to the battery door. Im wondering if this is region specific or if I am missing something?

No unless that's what the empty cut-out on the door is for. I believe that mrm1 is correct the antenna for the nfc appears to be missing. Apologies been used to looking at my blackberry and that is where the antenna for nfc is. Quite sure the indent in the plastic is for a missing component though...

Nfc is there. That was similar in the S3 for the wireless charger which never came. Look up qi chargers on Amazon and you'll see what fits the slot.

He is right, it's not missing any antenna

The nfc is contained within the battery itself... Unlike every other phone on the market.
If u use a third party battery without nfc built in you lose the function altogether.

Galaxy s4 wireless charging?

So I just bought this wireless charging dock last night: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=400461623073
And thought that this is all I would need in order to charge my battery. However, Now I'm worried I will need a battery door. Does anyone know git certain whether or not I will need a different battery door to use wireless charging (currently using the one that came out of the box) if so, where would I be able to find one at? Thanks in advance!

Samsung is releasing a battery door that's compatible. They haven't set a release date for it yet though.

Don't need to get a new battery door. That new Samsung door will actually be larger than the current one. Some/many cases won't fit.
Get this instead - wireless receiver that fits inside the stock battery door:

I pre-ordered the one for the S4, after it was written up on Engadget. It hasn't been released yet, apparently, so I'm still waiting.
Here's the Engadget article. Some good things said about it in the comments:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/04/10/monster-watts-wiqiqi-slips-wireless-charging-into-samsung-galaxy/
The order site says that it will ship by May 31:
http://www.vivealive.net/WiQiQi-Samsung-S4-Wireless-Charger-Set-WQS4.htm
Well, I just bought it. Will review it when I receive it on the 31st.
I just went ahead and bought a $10 s3 qi receiver, hoping it will work but if not it isn't too much money down the drain. Will let you guys know how it works

I ordered a kit as well.
I hope it lives up to the hype.
Will report.

Samsung is terrible with the S4 accessories.. they release a new battery cover just to enable wireless charging.. ok fine.. but they release a stupid 70bux transparent flip cover that doesn't support wireless charging.. so basically i can never get wireless charging if i ever want to use their oem products or i need a special case if i want to use their oem wireless charging cover and fit?? real smart thinking.. guess i'll give this kit a try too
I thought it was the battery it self that has a coil in it for the NFC and that was for charging?
if not I have my palm pre still that has that wireless charging - could I take that battery cover apart and take that coil out and just attach it to the inside of the phone
I dont see anywhere where a battery cover with this built in will connect inside like it does on the palm pre, there arent any contacts that I can see that will go to the battery charting how would this work

Are you sure you are looking at a GS4?
There are 4 contacts. 2 to the left and 2 to the right of the flash. I think the left ones are for charging. I am basically ready to do what you said but need to figure out the polarity of these contacts.
There are other related threads but no responses yet...

To the guy worrying about the flip cover - there are tons of wireless charging inserts on eBay. You don't need the Samsung back, just get one of those things and stick it under the cover.
Cheers.
I was browsing around folders and noticed these files.

use coupon code CPASTE13SPRING for 5% discount.
I'm using S3 kit and my friend is using notes2 kit from them, (receiver and charging pad) and have just ordered this receiver to use in S4
You can put a wireless charging receiver card inside your S4. Now it is a very pop way to charge your phone. If you need any technical help, please PM me.

I'm hoping yours worked. I've had a qi receiver in my S3 for about 6 months now. I pulled it out to see if it would work in my S4 and it doesn't quite fit. The pad would fit, but it lays over the sim card and mSdcard, which probably wouldn't be a big deal, but the problem is the two small brass contacts don't quite fit in the square charging holes on the s4, they're probably 0.25mm too large and slightly to far apart for the S4.
My S3 pad is about 6 months old though, so hopefully the newer s3 pads have been modified to work with both phones.
I love wireless charging though and just went ahead and ordered a qi pad for my s4 from the fastech link earlier in this thread.

Thanks for the response, unfortunately, the S3 Receiver was too bulky and wouldn't allow the door to shut.
This is what I bought and seems to work perfectly

Does the part you place in the phone get hot? Causing NFC or other issues?

NFC not working?

I have tried to use NFC on my brand new Note 3 today (SM-N9005) with my Nexus 7 and nothing happens when I open a website and put the two back to back? Which is supposedly how it's meant to work. Am I doing something wrong? or is my N7 or N3 faulty?
Btw: I have no NFC tags to test with (There in the post)
Thanks
Bump, I need to know what i am doing wrong, They're both using android beam
Sometimes one of the devices have to be upside-down...not sure if that helps but when using NFC on a Galaxy Mega and Note 2 one of them needs to be upside down. Not sure why.

Check the inside of back cover , the NFC plate is missing , we only have connector but no plate.
Good Job Samsung.
In Note 3 NFC antenna is built in the battery. Mine N900 is working with one NFC tag I have.

I'm not 100% sure my NFC is working. Only was able to use it occasionally when Google Wallet wanted to work on some vending machines at work on my Note2 and GS3. Now when I have NFC enabled and hold in front of the reader nothing happens. Going to order some tectiles with my 50% off coupon and see if they work or if it's the vending machine.
Hi. I have try to connect my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to NFC Sony XB10 speaker but it cannot be undone. What do I need to do.
99% of batteries bought on internet do not have NFC, so if you need new battery, beware

[Q] Wireless charging + Case help

So I bought this case, amazon.co.uk/Textured-Design-Protective-Leather-Holder/dp/B00HQ6SAR6/ref=sr_1_24?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1390735635&sr=1-24&keywords=lg+g2+case+ecell primarily because it replaces the need for my wallet. But I am interested in Wrieless Charging.
As I am British I have the D802 version of the LG G2, ie without a removable back or built in QI receiver. Knowing nothing of QI Charging I was wondering if a receiver would be able to charge through the case . Listing a receiver and compatible charging base would be appreciated

I am using an it Ian one and slim armour purchased on eBay. Slow charge though.

dont know how thick that case is and whether the material difference would make a diff. slow charge isnt a problem its actually good because it preserves the battery integrity over time

Does wireless charging still works with an iRing or similar on the back of the phone?

Hi just wondering if any of you guys are lucky enough to have the phone and also a iRing or equivalent on the back of phone? Does wireless charging still works normally especially with the Samsung fast wireless charging stand?

I doubt it'll work. I have a metal disc in my case for a car mount, and it covers the 'sweetspot' for the charger . I also think it will be too far from the charger base.

Wheres the sweetspot precisely?
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
I cut 4 thin steel sheets and placed them around the sweet spot.
I then modded my choetech wireless charger and added Magnets around the charging spot.
The phone sticks to the wireless charger really well. Doesn't fall off while I'm driving.
Spigen just confirmed with me that their version won't work with wireless charging
