I have to choose between N4 and S4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello my fellow N4 users,
I think I need your help with this one. I bought my N4 in december last year and I am very happy with it. Since I bought my S2 more than 2 years ago, I began rooting it and since then, I wanted to have a Nexus because of the rooting scene behind it.
I live in Holland and the N4 wasn't going to be sold trough the official way. So I went to a German city close to the Dutch border (2 hours driving) and paid 400 euro for my new N4.
It's running on the newest Rasbeanjelly 4.3 rom with Purified kernel. I am using stuff like Greenify and Awesome beats, Faux sound and so on.
There is just one thing I feel bad about and that's the two scratches on the screen (one of the scratches is about 5 cm.. ) because my case was on it's way and it was New Years Eve (I was drunk lol).
I have also bought the Nexus 7 2nd generation after I sold my old N7. Simply said, I love the Nexus line of Google.
Now, the dilemma. I work in a phone shop and we won a competition and now me and my colleagues will all receive a new Galaxy S4. When I saw this phone for the first time, I immediately love the screen. But when I was comparing by N4 (with PA 4.2.2) against the stock S4 of my friend, my N4 wasn't slower, no, it was even slightly faster. But the holiday pictures my friend took and showed them to me on his beautiful amoled screen were awesome..
Second, if I check out the S4 forums, there is so little AOSP and custom roms for the S4. And I know why, CM said a while ago that they would stop making roms for Samsung phones (or something like that) but it isn't relevant why it is so.
I am a root freak, like al of us here, and I don't want to use stupid Touchwiz. And I think a rooted S4 with the right custom rom can't be worse than a N4, right?!
So here are my questions:
Does anyone have experience with a rooted S4 on a custom rom and does it work and feel as smooth as a N4? (I know, maybe it's better to ask this in a S4 forum, but still)
And what would you recommend me based on the story above and your own opinion? Please, don't give answers like 'you say you love Nexus line and rooting, then it's better for you to stay with the N4, but give me another reason to choose better option. You could also think like I never used a N4 and S4 before but I'm still using my rooted S2, what would you recommend me then...
Besides that, the chance is very very big that I will buy the next Nexus
Thanks!

S4 has a better camera and display. If you must, get a Google edition S4 [EDIT: ROM!]

Get the s4. Sell it. Use the cash to buy the new nexus (nexus 5 or whatever).
Sent from my Nexus 4

flash the google edition rom on your free s4 (I'm very very jealous) and you will (basiccally) have a nexus like device... however I'm not 100% sure it's possible

Look, for me was the price issue. your getting it free (so go for it). You can also convert it to a S4 google edition, here are a few of the links:
http://lifehacker.com/install-google-edition-roms-on-skinned-htc-ones-and-cer-732590116
http://www.technobuffalo.com/videos/how-to-turn-a-galaxy-s4-into-a-google-edition-phone/
http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-to-make-android-phone-google-edition/
My question to you is, why would you want to get all the features out of the S4 so you can have 4.3 google version only?
If you need more space, more camera, more power and a bigger screen, well S4 is way to go, and for you is the best way to go, your getting it for FREE.
I'm a nexus owner and former galaxy nexus owner, and I will never trade my newest nexus for any other phone, but maybe that's just me.
Hope this can hep you out!!!

Get yourself N4
It's super AOSP optimized, has great support and it's generally awesome

I hate the S4's appearance and buttons, but the hardware is there. Tough choice, especially with no official word on the new Nexus. I'd get the S4 and flash the Google edition ROM.

Yes, I the S4 has better display and better camera. The screen is the best reason I can think of to take the S4.
But like I said, I work in a phone shop and I won this S4 and I don't get to choose between the normal and Google edition. Besides that, I saw that I can easily install the Google Edition rom on my S4 after I rooted it.

That was my first intention to do, sell it and wait till the new Nexus comes out and but it. But now I am thinking about using the S4 till the new Nexus comes out. The new Nexus is going to be my new phone after it comes out, no doubt about it.

Haha I understand you're jealous, I would also be I quickly checked the I9505 forums and yes, I saw a couple of custom roms are available for it. So yes, that is also something that I consider.

Thank you for the links! I like the fact that Google brought out Google Editions of top phones like S4 and HTC ONE.
Do you mean that you bought the N4 because of the price issue? If it was same price, you would buy the S4? I would also, but the root scene behind the N4 is bigger, you know..
Look, I like the fact that everything that has to do with root, is available for the N4. So IF I get an S4, I surely will root and would like to use AOSP stuff and custom roms, but also some mods that need root.
I don't need more space, but the bigger/better screen and camera are a plus.
I also said after I got my N4 that I would never use or buy another phone than a Nexus, but getting the S4 for free changed my mind..

Yes, I know mate, I already own the Nexus for 10 months now it's awesome.

I just got a Nexus 4 1 week ago and I'm loving it so far. Comparing to to my sisters S4, my modded Nexus is so much better (PA 3.99 + Franco r178 + Hospital's Color Profile). By activating Pie and enabling full screen, there so little difference to the screen size of the Nexus and s4. Actually, my Nexus 4 seems to have better screen colors than the stock S4 (thanks to the color profile).

Exacly my thoughts. I don't hate it appearance and the buttons, but I like the the appearance of the N4. The hardware is undoubtly better.
Well, if the new Nexus comes out, I will sell my N4 or S4 and get it as soon as I can
Yeah, though decision it is. I am very curious about an S4 running on stock android actually. But if I test it on my new S4, and try to sell it afterwards, the price will be lower, because it isn't sealed anymore.

Thanks for the information! N4 is amazing expecially on PA with Franco. But I haven't heard about that Hospital's color profile thing, I will check it out.
But if I get the S4, I will surely root it and get a custom rom on it. I expect the S4 to outclass the N4 when they are both running on a custom rom/kernel, correct me if I'm wrong...

As a former S4 owner i can tell you that softwarewise the S4 is a total failure. It lags, stutters and opening apps and widgets takes way too long. This is soley caused by the poorly optimized software. The N4 on paper seems way less but in real life it feels much more fluid and lags are very very rare.
But that said the screen (not in direct sunlight), speaker and camera of the S4 are better.

The N4 and XDA support is a win win!

in my opinion N4 is better than S4 in performance. N4 has quad core processor and S4 has Octa core (8) processor. According to my speed tests S4 should have more benchmark score than it gets..like n4 gets about 20 to 22 thousand without overclocking in antutu benchmarks but s4 gets only 27 thousand being an octa core. It is very less for 8 core processor at least it should touch 35 to 40 thousand score without overclock.....So this directly indicates that n4 performance is better than s4...and in any way s4 is laest so it will have good screen and camera..but n4 is also awsome...I would recommend to stay with n4 and wait for n5......now its up to you...i think samsung is just a ****...making customers fools.....Thanks if helped....

Del both and get the lg g2, the first droolworthy non nexus android in ages!

Lol , FACEPALM !
The octa core does not mean all 8 cores are active. It's a combination of 4 A15 cores, and 4 low powered A7 cores, a BiG.little architecture.
And 2nd thing, don't rely on benchmarks as a real life performance measure, nexus devices are never good in that field, yet they offer the best user experience (my opinion).

Honestly, get the s4 and sell it right away. Don't even open the box. Use the money to get the n5 in fall. I see u value community support a lot, so this would be ur number one option. Samsung's support is just crap. Even a Google edition cannot be compared to pure aosp experience of the nexus and is definitely NOT the same! A lot of sources are still closed at Samsung.
Don't forget ur loss of warranty either, once u unlock the bootloader. U need crap like triangle away, a usb dongle or so on to reset the Samsung counter. If ur screen brakes u might be screwed in case of RMA. With a nexus u just lock the bootloader and u r done!
Also, many people are running around with a Samsung device. A nexus is just rare and far more special
Hope I could help!

Ding ding ding we have a winner thats what I would do, but buy the nexus 4 and pocket some money. Sell your nexus you already have. The s4 is nice and I wanted it but the phone gets returned a lot at my job. Its sold the most but returned at a higher rate. I wont lie and say the s4 didnt cross my mind but the price is crazy to me. I keep phones maybe 6 months. Also keep in mind that the screen on the s4 gets micro cracks and is known for that. Known to break randomly. Didn't know till a customer told me about it. Happened to a friend of his.

I would say sell the gs4, they retail for up to 800$ on eBay and with that money you can buy a nexus 5 and have money left over

Why would he want to do that? As far as I understood, he already owns a n4. Why should he buy another n4 and sell the old one? I'd prefer banking the money he'd make selling the s4 and wait for the n5 or whatever it'll be called.
However, I fully agree to the rest of your post!

Change Nexus S for Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys, I love my nexus s and i can't wait for jelly bean. But i can get the galaxy nexus for 50 euros (my wife has a very expensive plan + sale + selling my nexus s to a friend).
I need the extra power and the better screen (i9023 S-LCD vs AMOILED), but i'm confused if the added size is a drawback.
Anyone that has both ?

You mean screen size or phone size? Gsm arena can help you with this:

Remember that the 9023 have S-LCD and 9020 use S-Amoled:

Lol, for 50€, it's a nobrainer.
GNex
GNex also have the same 5 megapixel camera(But it have 1080p video recording). That is the bad thing.
Don't doubt about the screen size,With the award winning superiour curved screen,u can hold the galaxy nexus in one hand.
So GNex is really worth it if u don't care for a camera.

what's bad about 1080p?
And the camera has a slighter bigger resolution and there's a lot more differences than you think.
Front facing camera does 720p
Dual core duhh (chipset is different0
a lot more features
1Gb of Ram versus 512Mb
GNex has MHL USB
Dual band
3.0 BT versus Nexus S's 2.0
HD screen versus 480x800
Bigger 3G network
Hey I am also saying that gnex is great...I just said that camera is only 5mp compared to similar dual core phones.
And I mean 1080p is great on gnex.
Gnex will be my next phone

I have a similar but related question: Currently on Sprint with a rooted Nexus S4G.
Do I:
Option A: Keep the NS4G and have rooted ROMs based off an official release within (presumably) weeks?
Option B: Get a cheap (possibly as low as $0.01 from Amazon) Sprint Galaxy Nexus 4G (Not AOSP) but possibly wait months for the same?

Depend's on if you want newer tech as well. i bought the NS4g last week so i can play around with it, possible learn some more things, and have for a 2nd backup.
Even though i'll be getting an upgrade come around Nov 1.

I may not want the newest hardware if I'm not going to be able to run the newest software on it for a long time. From what I've been reading, the NS4G + AOSP JB may actually be superior to the Samsung GS4G +ICS.
Sigh, decisions.
go for it. I upgraded mine a while ago, it's been fantastic.

I am extremely curious where you read this. Is there an article or thread I can read through?
EDIT: I mis-read. I didn't see this was JB vs ICS. Essentially, I would assume that's opinion unless you are talking specific data benchmarks, in which case I'm still curious to see the data.
Love my nexus s, i have two contracts, one i use my nexus s on the other i upgraded from an HTC desire hd to a galaxy note, wish i had got the galaxy nexus now though. I do like my note, but really wish i had got the galaxy nexus instead to go with my nexus s and upcoming nexus7 when i finally get round to ordering it.
I own a Nexus S, but I've already used Galaxy Nexus a couple of times. I really prefer Nexus S' size over Galaxy Nexus', but the second has so many advantages over the former that I really doubt you'd care about it being a little too big. And, well, in the worst case, get the Galaxy Nexus for $50, unlock it and sell it for almost the retail price, or simply sell it locked for almost the price that the carrier usually sells it.
Nexus S is a GREAT phone as well, sometimes I think I'd never use all the power of a Galaxy Nexus, cause I'm probably still far from using all the power (in terms of processing) of my Nexus S! The most notable advantages of GalNex, IMHO, are the 1Gb RAM, the zero shutter lag of camera (amazing!), the ability of taking pics while rec a video, the better front camera, the notification led (i miss so much in my NexS. :crying, the Face Unlock (maybe not really useful, but anyway cool ) and the higher priority on getting updates.
I don't know why you even have to think about this. I love my Nexus S and all but the Galaxy Nexus is a better phone in every way. If you have the chance to upgrade (especially for cheap) go for it.

You're correct, there's no specific data benchmarks. If there were, then I wouldn't have this dilemma, because I could just do a head-to-head comparison.
I'm making extrapolations based on the general consensus that JB has significantly improved response and battery life over ICS. If those improvements are significant enough on the NS4G, they could be essentially equivalent to a hardware upgrade.
What is almost undeniable is that JB will be delayed getting to the Sprint GN4G. Based on past history, it wouldn't be surprising to not see it available until December. That could be verrrry frustrating.
A lot of questions would be answered in the off chance that JB gets pushed to the NS4G along with the NS in the next week, so we'll see.

Should I sell my N4 for the Galaxy S4?

Been playing with my Nexus 4 since a few weeks now but the Galaxy S4 is looking very tempting, especially the display. Should I sell my N4 now and save the moolah to purchase the Galaxy S4?
I don't think I would be getting a better value later on. How many of you are planning to sell off the N4 for the samsung galaxy S4?

i will be selling N4 for S4 need LTE
Won't sell my Nexus 4 until I get my Nexus 5
I had an S3, and I've not totally given up on Samsung after all the fuss over sources for developers etc, not what I like to see. Very happy still with my Nexus 4, nothing to make me consider an 'upgrade' (and I normally always demand the latest and greatest).
As for your first question, it's really entirely down to opinion. If you don't want any of the newer hardware on the GS4 (i.e. 1080p screen, octa-core processor, 13MP camera etc.) then don't bother. I personally don't see it as worth it at all. I would never be able to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p screens, I can't conceive of any task in the foreseeable future which the S4 Pro won't be able to handle, I don't use my camera too much and I don't need the expandable storage. Your opinion may well differ, and at the end of the day you definitely won't be able to get a definitive answer to this as it's all down to opinion.
As for the second question, there's already a thread in the Q&A about this (in which the vast majority of people answered no).
The only way id sell my n4 is to maybe get a n5. The s4 didnt really impress me an all of its new features seem gimmicky
No

Yes.
Why, so someone that wants and will enjoy the n4 will get it, and then you can get and use what you want as well..
I'm thinking I'll eventually sell mine to get an xphone, maybe.. For the meanwhile I'm enjoying it
hopefully n5 will be better so no..who the hell likes touchwiz anyways
All these new phones could make your tea and replace your loved one in the bedroom for all i care they are all more than double the price so they can shove them where the sun doesn't shine.
*IF* the S4 is easy to develop for (probably not), then I would. The Nexus is only great in terms of development support. As a hardware platform, it's just meh....
- Horrible battery life compared to competing phones
- Screen not calibrated
- No LTE
- No SD card
- Only 16gb

That's like saying should I trade my playboy playmate girlfriend for some fat ugly chic? If that's what you're into then go for it.
Just remember your N4 will get the next version of Android and the features that will bring, your S4? Well you may have to wait a while to get version 5 of Android! Sure the S4 may have better specs but software is just as important as hardware!

1. Battery has been great for me, better than sensation and mt4g.
2. Can be done with apps, I tuned mine based off of an oled, love the screen now
3. It does, users are using lte now
4. This was known prior to release
5. Also previously known prior to release
Expandable storage would make nexus an unfair competing device, Google must still cooperate with other manufacturers...

personally i think that the SGS4 is a great phone BUT I don't see any reason for us (the moderate users) to take a leap for it and thats why:
the nexus 4 is amazingly fast, battery is just fine and if u need more than that get a portable charger, PURE android and fast updates so u don't get tied to the manufacturer's good will, I don't like the Super AMOLED display to my eyes the colors are too saturated but that doesnt mean they are not good.
i've bought the nexus after having 4 HTC devices and i must say pure android device is an another league, the custom UI is just slowing it down.
and so about the Exynos 5 Octa
this is NOT a real Octa core. this processor packs tow quad cores
4-cortex A7 @1.6ghz for power 'saving'
4-cortex A15 @ 1.2ghz for performance.
i dont believe in this concept but maybe it's just me.....
so i dont see reason to buy the sgs4 while u can enjoy the nexus 4.
just my opinion.....

I love bug-free custom ROMs, you will never have this on a Samsung product.

*IF* the S4 is easy to develop for (probably not), then I would. The Nexus is only great in terms of development support. As a hardware platform, it's just meh....
- Horrible battery life compared to competing phones
- Screen not calibrated
- No LTE
- No SD card
- Only 16gb

- Go ahead and try different roms an kernels, you can double your screen on time with the right combination.
- Go ahead and try different kernels, as an example, the recomended values that comes with franco will blow your mind away.
- Well you have a point there, me personally don't need that LTE speed.
4,5 - Well, I don't really understand why people needs more than 16gb in a phone, is your phone a cinema theater or something that has tons of movies to store or what?
First nexus phone for me after an S2 and an S3. I'm never moving to any other device unless it's the next nexus. Nuff said.

The CM team debunked that.

Setting Device Expectations
Let’s start with the simplest form of this: CyanogenMod does not pre-announce support or lack of support for devices. Ever. Even for the Nexus 4, we did not announce support until a nightly build was available. Further, any announcement regarding the ‘dropping’ of device support will be communicated via this Google+ page, Twitter, Facebook, our blog, or a combination of those; it will not be something buried in a forum post.
This morning, a comment from a CM collaborator on XDA was taken to be as an ‘absolute’ in regards to support of the S4. He offered the opinion of four TeamHacksung maintainers, their frustrations and lack of interest in supporting the S4. What’s seemingly lost on those reading this is that his comments as an individual do not speak for CyanogenMod as an organization.
As for the team’s stance on the S4, there isn’t one at this time, and most definitely won’t be one before the device is sold at retail.

I should add that whether you sell your Nexus 4 to buy an S4 is completely up to you. That is an extremely personal decision, and only the OP can decide that. Anything else is just everyone else's personal opinion, and is usually going to go between people who actually use and love the Nexus 4 (or Nexus in general), and those who don't but post here anyway. Being as this is the Nexus 4 board, I would think the question is most likely going to be slanted in one direction.

[Q] Replacing my Nexus S. Need help to deicide!

Guys i need a little help. I am replacing my lovely nexus s.
My candidates are
Nexus 4
Galaxy S4
HTC ONE
Galaxy S3
Today i tried an S3 and a HTC ONE and an S4 (i9505) and a n4.
I love the S4 the design i think is much better than the s3, but the ONE has the best design, but i never buy a phone just 4 the design. And it is impossible to replace anything on the HTC One. The camera is not so good either, but the microphone and the stabilization is realy an useful extra. And HTC is never too good on updating its software. N4 is is a good all rounder, but the camera is crap The screen was insanely nice in the s4. My problem is that the s4 browser lagged like hell, i loaded up the verge desktop as my usual test page and during loading it was all choppy and unresponsive even the s3 was much faster! Not to menion my nexus 7 almost my dated nexus s was more responsive.... Maybe the demo phone does not had the final software? Can somone with a stock i9505 can try theverge? Please tell me how the browser behaves on a final s4? thx
I'd suggest you go with the s4. The lag was due to firmware not being ready. Chances are the model you will buy will probably not lag. And even if it does it will be fixed with an update. The s4 has the best hardware around right now, no doubt about that. The htc one is also a great phone and you won't regret buying either of them. I wouldn't buy the nexus 4 or s3 though.

S3 would be only because of price but i dont realy like compromise What you have against the nexus? Do you have the s4?
You may want to ask this in a general section and not in any sub forum as you will get biased replies to whichever forum you ask in. If you have decided to ask here it sounds like you are leaning towards the S4. The One at the moment sounds like the smoothest but if you want/need an external battery and SD slot you should probably go for the S4. The Ones camera isnt bad, its not as good as the S4 in daylight but better in low light. I'd go into a store again then compare the One & S4 to see which one you really like.

No doubt Nexus 4 is a nice phone. But it is 6 month old tech at this point. You will love the S4 coming from Nexus S, unless you absolutely hate touchwiz...

Thats a good point, if you like stock android you do not want a S4 unless you want to wait and see about this whole bootloader mess and get cyanogen.

I imagine what is in the store is final retail. I have never seen any device in store running pre-release hardware or firmware. What you see is what you get.
You'll get different views.
If software is important I'd recommend the nexus 4 as you'll get key lime pie before any Samsung or HTC device. It's not bloated with features, it's simple stock Android fast and functional.

Then i will go to another store and try it as if the s4 would behave that much slower as the s3 i would expect lots of people complaining
Only options in my eyes would be the S4 or the One. I have had both, the One first but I had to switch to the S4 as every single unit I found had stuck pixels among other faults. Aside from that it is a great phone, but if you do consider one then make sure you get a good one before you leave the shop!
Alternatively, absolutely no regrets going to the S4 instead.

The camera on the one is a fair bit better in the 1.29 update, check out some comparison reviews. Also, in terms of software updates, I read a piece somewhere that showed pretty categorically that HTC have the best history of updates.

Well lack of expandable storage along with the maximum option being a 16 gb version is the dealbreaker. I have a 16 gb s3 + 32 gb micro sd and I tend to fill that up with music and movies so I wouldn't be able to survive on just 16 gb. Theres also the battery life which doesn't seem to be that great along with it being non removable though I could probably live with it if it was only just that. I don't have the s4 right now. Still trying to decide between the s4 and one...

I have seen that too and HTC is realy better in updating non flagship devices for example the galaxy w does not even get updated from 2.3, but s2 the former flagship got 4.1.2 and wil get 4.2.2 and the HTC sensation remained on 4.0.4. But if someone replaces phone every year that does not realy matter

Which is necessary cause the One came out with an older Android version.
Does anyone with the actual phone could report on the browser Or we all are just wannabe owners Thx in advance

Considering upgrading from s3 to s4

I want to buy the s4 (gt-i9500 model) and I come from s3.
I just wanted to ask whoever got the phone already and had the galaxy s3 if there was any downgrade in user experience from the s3?
downgrade in user experience? seriously? i mean its not life-altering fast, but it is way faster than my S3 is and the screen is a lot better. got one for my wife and she loves it
I have just bought one today and i'm upgrading from a Galaxy S2 (i9100) and i can say the upgrade is pretty big experience wise as well as sound and display wise.
Coming from an S3 to an S4 the impact is not so big but i don't know if it's such a big improvement to be worth the upgrade unless you can sell your phone and get enough money to cover at least half of the cost of the S4.
worth the trade. No joke. Ive gone from the s1 to s2 to s3 and now the s4. massive improvement every time.

Upgrading from s3 should be a straight forward decision, no thinking what so ever, it is way better than s3 and beats it in every dept, upgrading from note 2 is still a question mark though, so I am taking my time.

I did that. And I am happy with it.

I actually made the upgrade from a note 2 which is basicly a bigger s3.
What i miss is the bigger screen. Also the device is very Light! It takes time to get used to it.
In terms of speed the note 2 does feel smoother. But then again, it's gotten the **** tweaked out of it and it's overclocked. Also, a custom rom makes a huge difference. Multitasking lags a bit for me on the s4.
Now, what actually makes it worth while for me is the nice screen the s4 has!
It's so damn nice and sharp. The note 2 should have been 1080p.
However , the s4 will get custom firmwares and kernels, it's just a matter of time.
Can't want till the s4 gets custom kernels.
Btw, just to answer your question. My mom has a s3 and i played alot with it before i got the note2.
From a s3 to s4 is really worth the upgrade! If you have a note2 however, try it out for a few weeks before making a choice. The s4 has not custom firmwares yet, it is rooted tho. Cwm ain't fully avaiable as well. Lets see in about a month
I would love to upgrade from S3 to S4, but the main thing holding me back is the probable Development lag. CM team seams to be p****d of from
Sammy. We still waiting for missing codes on the S3, the main reason why the AOSP roms are not fully functional
Any advices are welcome, otherwise HTC one

i think the only problem with dev on the S4 is the bootloader, but from what i can tell on Cyanogen's G+ page, he already has CM10.1 on his Tmo S4
and im running AOKP on my S3, what doesn't work?
Go for it. And you will love it.

CM development has already begun for the qualcomm version. In fact, the qualcomm version is expected to see faster dev work coz qualcomm provides the proper drivers and binaries required. Steve Kondik has already built an alpha build of cm for the s4 with all core functions and even baseband radio working.
Thank you all, I think i'll wait a while until the price drops below 3500 NIS (~1000USD) and buy it.
Thanks for your help
The only thing stopping me from upgrading the sgs3 to sgs4 is the narrow field of view for pictures - other than that user experience etc is very similar... but is a showstopper for me.
Most of the "drawbacks" are software based, and you'll get a much more powerful device in your hands when development kicks off Go for it if you're coming from S3!
The big difference is if you currently have the 32gb version, since it has 17gb more storage for apps than the S4. If you are not a gamer and have the 16gb S3, you should be good to go
Since games play great on the S3 and 1080p seems not as important on a small display, I will wait for the 32gb version. If no 32gb version is released, I will keep my S3 A big BLEH though to Verizon if they don't carry the 32gb version. I preordered with Best Buy, but will cancel if just 16gb offered.

Is s4 still good for buying?

Hey.. Used s4 4 months ago.. Had No issue(had screen blue tint issue but its common in all amoleds)
Sold it for some financial reason..
Thinking to buy new phone..

You can give a nexus 5 a try, maybe the htc one.
But personally i love my s4, if you try to have the last and most fashioned tech ever you will end with a new phone eveey two weeks...
But yeah what one you had? The i9505 or i9500.
I ask that cause you need to keep in mind all roms and posibilities you have with one or another.
I have a 9500 and slowly but surelly roms and magic start to roll and now i have 4.3 and my little beast run everything smooth, with no issues.
So my answer is yes it whorth it..
Sorry for the long answer...
Good luck

Although the lack of camera and external storage on the nexus 5 is very off putting... I'm still very tempted. Would have 200 left if I sold my phone. And it looks stunning the nexus 5 does.

well if u are asking if it s kinda old news , then yeh . the s5 will come out in a couple of month according to samsung so it s bettet to wait. Also as ktouy said u might want to give the nexus 5 a try .
Yes it's still a great phone and still getting updates. If you are a fan of always getting the latest things you could go for a nexus 5.

only if you need the camera or sdcard
nexus 5 kill every phone out there and you can buy more stuff
but s4 camera is really epic
Thanx guys.. Actually m not heavy user not much camera just personalisation fan obviously should smooth.. But my next question is.. after buying s4 spending big money.. Will worth? I mean my friends(include girl friend) xD.. will think that "shee!! This is s4 how cheap.. Not good"
That is second thing I don't want...
So. Is there any thing like that?

If you want to stick with s4 you can buy the I 9506 with the new snapdragon s800.Then you will have your beloved phone with new top specs
NO. Wait for S5. If it's January then it's not long. Going to Nexus from S4 is ridiculous unless you are a fan of that other thing, AOSP or whatever, a dumb display, impossible.
However S4 is pretty badly optimized outta box. You need to install a custom kernel and do some tweaks to make it run smooth. 4.3 is another big blunder Samsung has done, a testing ROM got released just to stay in competition with other brands and their upgrade schedule. If it weren't for the size I would never have sold the Note 2, God it was so smooth, so much better optimized than S4!
