Stop Notifications sounds during music playback????? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Any ideas on how to stop notifications abd text message sounds while playing music?

Only thing I can think of is turning down the notification volume. When you use the volume keys, push the gear icon and turn down notifications volume.

Thought there maybe another way. Thanks

Another annoying issue
Where can I put ringtones and notifications so they are not picked up by my music player? Didn't have this problem until the MF9 update. I dont see a way to delete the folder out of the music player settings.

i keep all my music seperate from my media storage and this is not an issue ( using apollo ) and ive never had this. the stock music player however doesnt care as long as its in a playable format it is going to pick it up. my advice : seperate your music from your ringtones, noticication sounds, and get a music player thats decent. should fix your problem.

its worth a shot.....worst thing that could happen is it does the same thing and your right back where you started. but in my experience with apollo ive never had this issue.

I can't remember if it works for music files but, creating a file and naming it ".nomedia" is supposed to stop Android from indexing that folder.
As for no notifications during music playback, just put your phone in airplane mode... Unless you are streaming music then it won't work.

I also want to know how to do this. it's very annoying when you listening to music, especially in the car and then a notification comes in and the notification sound take over the music. If only there was a setting or an app for it. Having to remember to turn down notification vol during music playback and then turning back up after you are done playing music can be a hassle.

[Q] What is the best music player for android HD2?

Hi everyone, I would like to know what is the best music player for ANDROID HD2?
The one it comes with is garbage....Any links would be helpful!!! TY ALL
I would recommend Mixzing Media Player. I currently use it on my X10 and feel its the best for music. Lots of options and has a good eq. And I know you didn't ask but Rockplayer for video. Plays it all.
ty i will check it out
I love the default player that comes with all sense builds.

I have tried almost every good music player there is (Mixzing, bTunes, Player Pro, TuneWiki, and some others I don't remember), yet I've come back to using the stock player. Graphically it's not the most appealing there is, but heck, it does what it has to do without all the unneccessary hassle the others have.
Lithium Music Player

Yea your right mixzing is horrible too. Ill stick with stock for now.

Horrible?
Gapless playback, music suggestions, equalizer, id3tag editor (once you register it) and a lot of other things and you say that it's horrible?

I absolutely hated this whole suggestions thing. It worked so unintuitively yet took a prominent role, and the suggestions weren't very relevant either.
Mspot is great. i like the way you can also play your music from the cloud.
mini player is my fav based on the fact that it looks at a directory that you point it to, rather than seeking for all media on your sd card like the android player does. also has playlist now.
3 or sometimes called cube by phillip abrantes is a cool player it's in the market
i like tunewiki
Music PlayerPro is my pick. Closest to the stock app. Shows album art. Has 4 decent looking skins. Has its own lockscreen with a widget. And best of all you can select the music folder to play from.
Mixzing was ok. Just did a little more than I needed. I just want to listen to my music and not my ringtones if you know what I mean. Keep it simple.
Try Audio Player with EQ Platinum. It has a very good equalizer.

Do you know that you can set the folder(s) to scan for media within the options?
Also, regarding suggestions you can also disable them. Do you guys just stop on the first screen or what?

Just wondering if you're talking about the stock sense music player or Mixzing? I've hunted high and low in the stock player and can't find anywhere to tell it where to look.
Horrible yes,ok it is good, but it does not support rewind and forward on my jabra bt 3030....only back skip, and forward skip.....the sense player supports all my jabra functions....

Shuffle on Music Player not so Random

Anyone else notice that the Music Player doesn't really shuffle all that well?
I've got a 32 gig card loaded in, all my music on the SD card. Have the player set to All Music with the shuffle setting on. I've got some artists that are heavily represented with hundreds of songs....but I've got others that have only one CD ripped in. When I'm at the gym, which is around 90 minutes, it's not uncommon to hear an artist with only one CD ripped come up three times or so. It's not a coincidence. It also seems to vary from session to session.
So....anyone else notice this?

Yes but none of the music players I've tried seem to shuffle very well. I've found double twist to be the best at it though with some good options.

I never use my music player but i do use google music cloud app which does a good job at random shuffle but Audio galaxy does it better as they have a thing called genie shuffling. U pick the first song and it will try to select all songs that come close to that first song in comparison in shuffling. Lets say u pick lady gaga it will play all the daNCE songs in shuffling like katy perry etc.
PowerAmp all the way baby

i notice it too... it seems to make a random list and just go on that and repeat itself sometimes..
I think my music player is officially retarded . I made sure that shuffle was on, no task killers were on, and it still played the same song. in succession. twice. is there a general consensus as to which is the best music app that isn't retarded.

The same song coming up twice in a row isn't an indication that the "random" algorithm on the music player is crappy. It is almost certain to happen on occasion. Also, in a truly random system, each song is as likely as each other song to be played; a random string of songs has no memory. Like flipping a coin. So all your Michael Buble songs are as likely to come up as any other songs. Add in a little confirmation bias and there you have it!
Back to the question. I like Winamp. I'm an old fan from back in the day when it was the music player of choice for the desktop computer. I can't vouch for its shuffle capabilities though.
Shuffle sucks and don't forget to mention the search function. Horrible

Music

So ever since i got the tab I have been having trouble with putting music on it. Everytime i save songs on the tab from my computer, the songs appear in other albums, the artists names appear for other songs, I get force closes...
Does anyone know what this could be happening?
Also, would a different music player app help solve this problem or organization?
Thanks for the help!
I use mediamonkey to properly name, tag, and include album art. Afterwords, I easily sync the music to my tablet (or drag and drop, depending on the mood).
This method works really well for having organized music on your tablet that's static, the way you set it up to sync in mediamonkey. Hope this helps.
Hey, thanks for the response. You kind of lost me there though... You said you use Mediamonkey to organize it then you pass it onto your tab. Does that mean Mediamonkey is a program on your computer or did i just understand it wrong and it's an app on the tab?
Thanks again! I'm hating the music situation at the moment...
I hate the stock music player and even the Google Music app because...tada..they all FC all the time. Can't even play more than one song.
I use PowerAmp, its the only music app that has ever worked for me on Android, ever !
As for tagging songs, MediaMonkey is good, but i just use iTunes.

Weird thing I was browsing the other date and I found out that there was an update for the music app but the tab never noticed me about it.
Btw it works fine for me

How are you transferring your music to your tab? I use mediamonkey on my PC to manage my music... and then from within mediamonkey I tell it to sync whatever songs or albums I want directly to the tab. I am betting your mp3 tags are getting messed up in the transfer.
Mike
Am really appeciating the help everyone, thanks!
So far still not having much luck...
I am currently trying to use MediaMonley as previously suggested. I am getting tags from the web and that works in general, but sometimes does not work. When doing this, does it alter the orig file? The process i have been using to transfer music is open up "My Music" on my PC where I thought I had things well organized by artist. Then i copy them over to the tab. Should I try syncing through MediaMonkey? How would I do this? Sorry if my questions and understanding are noob like.
Another issue I am having is in my gallery on the tab. Every track has the picture of the Album or whatever which is taking up insane amounts of storage as well just seems dumb...
Will also look into another music player as suggested.
Feel free to comment on any of this. I'm still trying to figure it out and am struggling. Makes me feel like deleting all my music to start over!!!!
Have you tried PlayerPro??
You can pick songs/albums from folders so much easier to organise.

How to stop Spotify pausing when receiving a notification?

Hi all,
Anyone happen to know how to stop Spotify from stopping playback for a second when a notification comes in from another app with Android 4.2?
Cheers!
That's a feature but some apps lower the volume for a second then raise it again while others pause.

Probably an obvious solution, but you can always kill notification sounds and just have it vibrate as an alert. Spotify shouldn't pause.
I have also always been annoyed by this. The apps playing the notification sound are the ones that determine if the music is paused or not right? I know that Chomp SMS has an option to NOT play notifications when playing music. So apps know when music is playing and can avoid the interruption.
I haven't seen other apps with that option, at least not the others I commonly use. So what I do is I have notifications disabled for most of my apps, but I like to know when I get a Gmail message, and Gmail will always pause my music (unless I set the phone to vibrate) which I don't like.
The main problem is when I stream music to my little Belkin audio gateway at home. If I set it on vibrate/silent, I can't hear the phone ring because the ringtone does not play through the A2DP music profile. I don't always have the phone with me because my range is limited (can't wait for a miracast affordable streaming audio solution).
I would love the music volume to be lowered while the notification plays, and then restore volume when it's over. Is there a ROM that does this? I know I used some ROMs on my EVO that did it, but don't know if there's a Nexus 4 ROM that will do the same.
I did set up a task with Automateit to set the phone to vibrate when Spotify is open. I think it will only do that when music is playing and not if the app is running in the background, but when downloading a playlist, it will do the same. Tasker probably has a better trigger so that it does this when music is playing, but I didn't want to pay the $7 for it today.
Shush! is another option if you know how long you will be listening to music, you can tell Shush to turn your ringer back on after an hour, but it's still not perfect.

I know on some ROMs, like paranoid, you can revoke specific privileges and permissions for each app. Could we remove Spotify's ability to know the phones notification state?

Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530H ISSUE!!!

Hey there, I've updated to official 5.0.2 lollipop on my device here in Panama (TPA) and I noticed that if I'm listening to music or videos wether through my headphones or speakers, whenever a notification arrives, it interrumps the music audio and it kinda sucks. And when viewing videos, I have to rewatch the part due to notification ringtone overcomes video's audio... Any ideas/help??? :'(

I'm thinking more of a way to make the music and any notification sound to sound equally, like without the music getting paused for a second. Just the two sounds to play at the same time and hear both the music and the notification sound like in other devices I've had (S3 Neo) but no clues on how to do so.
