My battery life on cyanogen six is down right awful. Every day I charge it at night and when I go to bed even if I don't use it its at 15%

Its not cyanogen 6. i have a 4ma drain when the phone is sleeping. thats less then a 1 % a hour

I, as well, see about a 1%/hour drain when my phone is not in use.
Usually, unruly battery drain is due to a rouge application you have installed.
I'm getting better than ever battery life on CM6.
Try charging all the way, reboot into recovery, wipe battery stats, charge all the way again.

I did something similar... I got it to warning (15%) and then erased battery stats... I then ran my my phone until it died and died again... after that it shouldn't get past boot if so then proceed to boot it into bootloader. The bootloaders white screen should drain back up battery quickly so only leave it on for only 2-3 mins. Charge it fully powered off and enjoy 15+ hours uptime!
my battery sucks ass too it was never like this before??? kernel??? could a different kernel fix this issue..if so which is the best please be specific so many kernel to choose if any...please help..thanks!

cyan 6 has had terrible battery life for me. so i switched back to leofroyo latest beta rom and got back my 3hr/% standby battery life. with widgets and email checking every 30 minutes. i'm down to 2hr/% in standby. usually in a day i lose 25% battery life with mild internet use and calling. i charge my phone every two days. can't beat that.
Try manually closing all applications & services that are not vital to your phone, then test over a day or two. If that doesn't work, try a different kernel.

This one is good. Best in town is hard to judge, but a lot of people enjoy the battery and stability:

Try blackbar v6.1 or stockbar v6.1. Those are the FRF91 build. I haven't tried the FRG33 but it's probably pretty great as well. The first post lists the changes from stock.
I'm fighting with battery life too, but problem is not when in standby where it uses less than 1% per hour, but actually using it (browsing) you can see battery lose 1% every two minutes... is it like that for you guys also? Really frustrating me...

Don't do this. Draining lithium ion batteries to completely dead is one off the worst things you can do to those batteries. It kills off their capacity
Charge to full, turn off phone and charge again until led turns green again, then boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
15 hour uptime is average not excellent

This is an excellent ROM. i've used it until i switched over to LeoFroyo. They both use the stock kernel and in my opinion i think its th best.
i also like to downclock the processor down to 800mhz with setcpu. definitely helps with the battery drain while using the phone. Non of those 925mv kernels help out in my experience.
Well I run go chat and msn constantly, I use 40 percent display, wifi, 3g, sync, etc and its about double the length I got when it was stock. Right now at 12% and I'm at 16 hours and 32 minutes! I wipe battery stats every time I flash a new radio also it seems to help

Used cm6 for ages till i tried enom's.. i got from an avg of 14hrs of battery life(cm6) to an avg of 26hrs (enom).. all with very heavy usage...

This is way better battery life than what I get on Enom's, but I get consistantly 14hours to about 15% and I use my phone a LOT.

Heavy for me means more than 3 hours on the screen being on... as im constantly using my nexus... i just cant put the thing down for a min.. and yeap enom's rom with wildmonks kernel really helps the battery..

same here on enoms. battery drain on cm6 was one of the main reasons i jumped ship to enoms
I have two Arias, one freshly rooted with the rooted stock ROM and one running attn1's FR008 flashed straight from the freshly rooted state. The only additional app installed is BattStatt, so I can easily monitor battery state. One battery is new, with only a few cycles (over about a week) and one battery is older, purchased in August.
Over the next few nights I will be doing an experiment. Both phones will be on, same settings for GPS, WiFi, Data, and Bluetooth. They will only have the displays set on about every hour or so to check battery states. The following night, the test will be done again, with the batteries swapped. I will then run the test again with WiFi on, with intermittant connections due to my work environment.
I expect to update this thread after each night's experiment.
The first night is an exception, I'm comparing my normal ROM (loaded with apps, widgets, and running Tasker) My first night has been interesting...one running freshly rooted is still 100% after 1.5 hours. The FR008 with many apps is down to 89% (note that this is the older battery). Perhaps at the 4 hour mark, I shall swap them. It would be nice to do this with 2 new batteries, but I have what I have.
This is being done to lay rest to the claim that one ROM gives better battery life over another. Seems like it is going to be conclusive if the first night is any indication. Perhaps we'll see what app is the culprit? (Widgets??Tasker??)

No phone calls on either. Just to be fair, since one is without a sim card, both of them have data turned off.
At the 4 hour mark, the original rooted ROM is still at 100% and the FR008 with mucho is at 82%. I have swapped batteries.
This gave me an opportunity to race bootups. The stock ROM booted up and was usable before the FR008 (with UOT cooked startup bootup animation) even got to the dancing droid. Makes me want to undo that to see if that is slowing down the bootup.
I am eager to do this full swing with clean ROMs tomorrow. I shall make a backup of the FR008 ROM then go back to the aria_shipped_rooted_signed.zip
(found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783508&highlight=Original+ROM). I will then flash FR008, adding only a widget for easy monitoring of battery levels, BattStatt.

I have two Aria phones - both the same age
one is stock 2.1
one is FR008
I set them both up the same - running HTC Sense -
I set the phones down (while I slept) for 8 hours
the stock phone drained 10%
the FR008 phone drained 43%
Did it twice
I know its not a 'real' test , but it does make you go hrmmmmmmmm.
If only you had a 3rd phone to throw CM into the mix! lol

You set the phone down for 8 hours and your phone drained 57% battery on idle for FR008? I find that very hard to believe because I have set my phone down over night and it drained 2% of my battery if even that. FR008 has shown the best battery life to me over the entire FR series. As of right now, my battery has been off charger for 6 hours, and Ive used the internet, wifi, and light texting with my battery at 100% still.
Edit: Im also using SetCPU...I dont know how much of a difference that would make, but there should be a difference. Try using SetCPU

you dont have to believe me - just telling you exactly what I have experienced
It wasnt just one night - I tested this for 3 nights straight before I made this post -
if you are running all those things for 6 hours and still show 100% - I would question that

I said I have been off the charger for 6 hours. Not necessarily using the phone for 6 hours. I browsed the web for around half an hour and sent about 30 texts since Ive been off the charger. I just dont see how its possible for your phone to drain 57% while youre not using it. What happens when you start using it?

its 8:17 AM PST
I will let it sit 'idle' on my desk at work - off charge.
in one hour - i estimate that it will have dropped 2% now (new ROM)

ok, just about an hour on FR008 - and now my BattStat is reporting . . . .
96% !?!
Both times - the phone was just left alone - on my desk - not being charge - not being moved at all - no touchy.....
Both were fully wiped prior to flashing
Both had LPP + DV + 3 widgets (mClock, Exteneded Controls, BattStat)
Both had turned off News/Stock sync
Both had 2 emails (Exchange, IMAP) set up
though not truely scientific - but nevertheless
HK Version showing < 1% drop
FR008 vers showing < 5% drop
dont know what to say - these are my results.

Wow... to use your words "I just don't see how it's possible" that you are still at 100% after sending 30 texts and 30 minutes of web browsing. In my own experience with my 2 month old Aria, even on the stock Aria, that sounds unbelievable. Either that or your battery calibration is way off.

I flashed myns synergy rom a couple of weeks ago and have been getting decent battery life. Today my battery life is blowing me away. Going on 11 1/2 hours since being unplugged with my normal usage and still have 22% battery left. Not heavy use by any means but moderate at least. I have never seen this kind of battery life on any other rom I have flashed. Any other synergy users seeing good battery life?

There's a great battery guide in the Q/A section, all kinds of tricks. Might find the guide to kernels there too, another way to drastically improve battery life. The new GB kernel sprint released is garbage, try netarcy-toast "brand" kernels
No where near CM7's battery life, but still very much a daily driver. I usually plugged up at around 40% battery after at least 12 hours usage.
Pretty decent for a Sense rom.
I've had my Evo unplugged for the last 2 days and still sitting at 43%. This is with sending about 60 texts, facebooked, got on frostwire for a bit, made like 12 calls, played a couple of rounds of Angry Birds and been on wifi about 95 percent of the time. Never has this happened with other roms. And I have tried a lot. Only thing disabled was 4G(none in my area)
Unplugged Sunday at about 2pm, it's now Tues at noon, I'm still at 49%.
Light to moderate usage since then, about 200 texts, a few short phone calls, and about two hours combined of facebook and twitter. VERY good life for 2 days worth of usage.
I just recently switched over from CM7 to Synergy RC1... I loved when I went away from Sense to AOSP and was reluctant to switch back. But very pleased and battery life I can confirm is excellent for me as well. My only gripe now is that I'm getting the darn unread email count showing up on my home screen icons even though there is no unread emails. I have found online that it is a known issue and mostly seen in 2.3.3? Can anyone confirm that?

I have tried several sense 2.1+3.0 roms, Virus Kingdom revolution, and mik g I have never been more happy than once I began using Synergy. Heck I even devoted a whole post on Google+ about it. Very stable and my battery is ridiculous. I took my phone off the charger at 6:30 am cdt its now 12:15 pm and I'm at 78%. That's with heavy usage. Great job devs.

When I first flashed I was goeeting okay battery life, the past few days has blown me away. I am used to seeing my battery drop like mad...but it does not do that anymore. I did nothing that I have not done on other ROMs, it just seems to work better after being on the phone a couple of weeks. This will be my ROM for quite some time now!
I'm really trying to get to the bottom of this display usage issue. My display usage stays extremely high compared to everything else. The more I use the phone, the higher it goes. Say if I use the phone a lot, it will be around 90%. If I barely touch the phone, it will go down to 50% but it's still a LOT higher than everything else. And it drains the hell out of my battery. If I barely use it I can get maybe 12 hours at most. If I do use it, I'll be lucky to get 7-8 hours.
It starting happening to me on MikFroyo but it didn't use to do it before. And now I'm noticing the same thing with Synergy. This is driving me nuts because it's keeping me from using my two favorite roms as a daily. I'll post three pictures. One is what my battery life/usage used to look like, one on MikFroyo 4.62, and one on Synergy RC1. I would really appreciate any insight to this.
Edit: It's only these two roms (that I've tried at least) that gives me this issue, and I think MikG if I can remember correctly. CM, Salvage-Mod, and a few other older Sense roms do not cause it.
This is with MikG 1.5, with my usual fairly heavy use.
AMAZING battery life, and 100% stable in my experience.
I have tried many, many ROMs and this one beats all.

I was getting maybe 14-16 hours, then I removed the check mark from Always On Data, and the battery life doubled. (again, this is with MikG only.)

let me start by saying that i used to think the same way your thinking untill one of the guys on the synergy post broke it down for me. it's simple, you keep thinking that the display% is an issue but it's only a number and it doesnt represent your actual battery drain. if you hardly use your phone, lets say u make a couple of calls, check some mail and browse the web. well the percentage is correct, your display was on longer than any other application. so it's going to be higher no question. the real question is are you getting good battery life or not? i'm on synergy RLC1 and after some suggestions that i upgrade my PRL, PRi, and wimax. which i did, now im getting great battery life even though my display percentage is still the highest application.

That is only the case if it's maybe a little higher than the rest of the things. It's a percentage of what has used the battery. When the display is at 90% and everything else is at 3% or less, there is a problem. And no, I am getting HORRIBLE battery life. Like I explained, on ROMs that don't have the extremely high display usage I can get 20-30 hours on one charge. The way the battery drains when I'm using it is extremely noticeable. The picture I posted that has been on for 14 hours with 48% left, that's how my battery usage should look. Granted I hadn't used the phone as much as normal that day, it still would be around the range of everything else.

ok, may i suggest that you upgrade all PRI, PRL, wimax etc.. you know all that stuff and give it 2 days to see if that helps. it made a major difference for me..
i bought my note a few days ago and i cant get it to last more than 1 day with normal usage. today i noticed that my android os service is more than 50% percent of time ON, withing 11 hours, more than 6 hours of usage from android os.
what could couse this issue?
I've just started seeing the same issue this week. I got my Note in December and has been just a bit better than my previous S2 until now. Seen Android OS number in the 80-90% range and phone turns off after 16-17 hours. No new Apps or setup changes lately. Was doing 1,5 day with similar use before.
From Diane Hackborns G+ thread about the impact of wiping the battery stats file:
Android OS is power usage of the core system, below the Android framework. This is the kernel (and its drivers) and many of the low-level non-Dalvik processes like init, ueventd, etc. (Prior to ICS the only thing that could impact this was CPU usage of those processes; as of ICS this is also any wake time that is not accounted for by Android framework wake locks.)
So, this is probably outside of what I can really address, since the part of Android I work on is system_server and the frameworks (Android System would typically be things I know about more). This is also where manufacturer-specific issues can appear, if they have their own native daemons (they very often do) with issues, or driver issues, etc.

I haven't been following things too closely, but a number of people report better battery lives after updating the firmware, there are threads in this forum specifically mentioning a drop in the 'Android OS' usage. I myself find this to be true, after an update my battery commonly lasts 2-3 days with moderate usage and 'Display' takes proportionately more battery, as you would expect with a 5.3 incher.
Try plugging your Note into Kies and see what firmware you are running then update if possible.

today i turned on wifi and guess what......android os 7hours and battery dead in 11 hours, even with less calls than the days before!

D-link 655 maybe? Well known battery eater when on wi-fi if you have that router.

Have you tried installing Better Battery Stats to see what is draining the battery?
The "Kernel Wakelocks" page might give you some clues as to what is causing the high Android OS drain
Even I was expierencing the high AOS usage in the stats from the previous ROM update...the culprit was found to be the SNS accounts which were not syncing coz of server problems from samsung’s end but the phone was constantly trying to sync,resulting in the high OS usage.Removed the account and now things are back to normal.
What i found was, that if the phone is in "Airplane Mode", Android OS give pretty normal usage. As soon as i turn the cell on (Normal mode), it start to give huge percentage usage ...

Me too... Android OS is about uses about 40% of my battery as well. But my battery life is good. I usually last about 2 to 3 days with between charges.
No way mine last for 2-3 days. More like 1 and something.
What firmware are you using? I'm still at the official kk5 and i'm wondering about going to LA4. But if it is the same with LA4, i would wait for ICS.
Hello note users.from my previous experiences on sgs2 its not Android os that's the problem.its the MODEM .try flashing a different modem. ( I get my note on Tuesday I hope I've made the right choice by choosing note over Gnex )

Hrmm, that's the case for me, could you ellaborate? Is there any configs i could try, router or phone?
I'm accepting that I need to charge my phone as soon as I get to a charger, but it would be nice not having to do so.
Juicedefender helps alot, but also it introduces some small lags to the system as well, a good enough trade off for now, but if it's solveable then I'd rather try that

I'm on KK1... I have been too busy to play with the note so I have only used it as a phone and checking email and couple websites but that's it. Right now.. I'm on 2 days and 1 hour with 62% battery left with only 1 hr and 20 mins with display on. My android os is 38% with about 1 hr and 10 mins usage. My display is only at 20%. At this rate, I could maybe last four days but I'm not using the screen much.
But I'm happy with battery life... I probably average about 2 hours of screen on per day and that should get me at least 2 days.

I'm having almost the same number as you, but i'm on the 15th hour of usage and onlu 46% battery left. To be honest, i haven't expected some huge battery usage, but hearing you guys i'm starting to think that i have problem. ..

Whats the battery performance like for you guys on a 2 year old phone, i know after a while the battery begins to degrade which is why im trying to see if this is the case for everyone :laugh:

1.5 years ago I easily get 6-7 hours screen on with power saving mode, for now i only get 4-5 hours with the same usage with Hurricane rom.

Yeah this phone is not 2 years old yet.. but aside, I love the Note 2 and don't plan on upgrading. I have 6 batteries for it, plus a external charger, so I never have to plug my phone in again. As far as UI goes, yes, it's missing some features, especially on 4.1.2 (luckily I never did the update ), but its multitasking features are kick-ass. At least for beginners. I had to tweak things to my liking, thanks to Xposed, such as default expanded notifications, Multiwindow for all apps, and such, but now that I have so much time into tweaking this phone I have no reason to upgrade.
I hardly noticed any difference between the time I purchased and now. My phone is 18 months old now.
Then again it could b me using 2 batteries and rotating the battery between uses so it doesn't degrade that fast.
But then again I'm not on stock rom. I was using miui in the past. Then regret upgrading to 4.3 which I found it too big of a hassle to downgrade to use miui again (4.1) and used hurricane rom with note3 mod installed. I tried ditto kitkat beta and rc1 but always reverted back to hurricane after a day of usage.

Mine last fine, about 5 or 6 hours of screen on.
Kitkat official, about 30apps frozen (Samsung I hate you lol), and greenify ftw.

Im getting 4+ hours screen time with average 15+ hours minimum of use .
this is on 4.3 stock rooted and AGNi kernel set to extreme battery saver.
normally charge phone when still at 20%.
On stock 4.3 I was getting best 14 hours.

Hmmm thats what i get roughly without the extreme battery saver but with the touchwiz power save mode turned on!

thats minimum because when playing clash of clans all day in a marathon to collect lute really kills battery. With norman use easy get 18+ hours easy.
I also de blotted my stock 4.3. Eitherway better battery than before.

I was stock rom and after numerous useless updates from samsung my battery wont last even 12 hours. I moved to xperized rom and even then battery backup was less. I have just switched to SuperBeam and I am seeing an improvement. will post detailed update later. right now getting near 14 hours with 3-4 hours screen time with wifi and bluetooth constantly on.

Hmm yeah thats what i get too here and there depends on if i play games or not which i rarely do! Im trying out Omega rom v27 4.4 atm and testing the battery for a couple of days :fingers-crossed:
really guys only 6-7 hours? I go at least 10-12 hours, yeah of course it depends how much you use it for example when I use 3G and Wifi Hotspot simultaneously the battery drains like 1 second for 1%. I recommend you guys to install WakeLock Detector app. This app will tell you which app drain your battery, and guys, remove the facebook app as soon as possible it was on the top of the list.

My battery life is steadily declining. Still getting by the day, but not easily like it previously was. Hopefully it'll last until the Note 4 hits.
Is there an app out there that can accurate measure the battery of your phone?
There are tons of battery app , there is one that comes with CleanMaster app hope that should be good as cleanmaster is good app
I get 2 hours and 30 min with screen on and 5 hours with the phone off the charger and on 3g and 2 hours with screen on and 4 hours on 4g with screen on with stock 4.3 and custom roms and i get 7 hours with the on wifi and 2 hours 30 min with the screen on that is with good signal and on Telstra.
Apps i am using are facebook and facebook messenger and pocket cast and google apps that is all on 3g
I've only had the Phone since 16th of January 2013 and that is with two battery as well
After 1 year 2 months of usage, my note 2 lives around 7 hours screen on for wifi and 5 hours screen on for 3G
