Why not Droid 4? - Milestone 2 General

Hi!
I have the best phone in the world, a Milestone 2,
but what i do not like is the laggyness, and a little bit larger screen would be nice maybe.
So, the Droid 4 is for about 150 $ available on ebay...
Is the Droid 4 better than the Milestone 2? Or is there a problem? Is the hardware-keyboard from the Droid 4 good?

The Droids generally are CDMA-only whereas the Milestones are GSM-only.
Double check the Droid 4 to make sure it supports what ever technology you are using or likely to use in your country.

Will it go to global? As Milestone 5?
Still waiting to see the global version moto x.

You can use Droid 4 for GSM networks. It has got microSIM slot. Another option is Motorola Photon Q, which is more powerful than Droid 4, but you must hardware mod it, because it doesn't have SIM slot.

Ok, thank you very much....
so the droid 4 or photon q is an option...

droid 4is the best option for rooting and custom roms etc. it also supports gsm networks and has a sim slot. Photon q has a larger and nicer screen, and also a slightly better processor but it doesnt have a sim slot. With such a screen, Photon q also consumes more battery than droid 4.
personally i'm getting a droid 4. Atleast until 5 is out

Is it really? GSM900 and 2100 UMTS for Droid 4?
Motorola makes the best Qwerty phones. It's pity that in our country, I can not buy a Droid (

Why not Droid 3 or 4?
- Never official released in my country => only used phones at ebay
- Hardware keyboard layout needs is not really a match (not everyone uses qwerty)
That's why I'm stuck with my lovely Milestone 2.
Greetings

[Q] Droid2&ATT

Droid 2 Global + AT&T = ?
Before anyone says it, i've googled it, and searched this forum for a couple hours, so please no "try the search function" - pointless posts.
Theres a buddy of mine trying to sell me his Droid 2 Global, my problem? I enjoy my HTC Aria. Now the Droid is verizon branded [obviously] and i've seen people complain about how the rom didn't allow them to use the SIM card. Idk if they were kidding or not [because i havn't a clue if there is a SIM slot on the droid 2] but through rooting and installing a different ROM, would be using my AT&T Sim card in the Droid 2 be effective or will it be a high-priced paper weight?
Paperweight. Unless you pay tbh 100$ for the unlocked radio.

Droid 2 & Droid 2 Global, Can I have a guide to unlock both? Or is the process the same for them to be able to use an AT&T SIM card, since the only real guide i've seen says at the end "DOESNT WORK WITH AT&T SIM" so yeah...
It can only be unlocked by team black hat. You have to send the phone to them and the service costs $100. There is no guide available to DIY period.

cool i didnt know that

The Droid 2 doesn't have a SIM cards slot and only has a CDMA radio so it can only be unlocked to work on CDMA only networks.

[Q] got verison droid x but have AT&T

My friend just gave me her droid x. I love everything about the phone. Is there any way that. I can use it with AT&T? Tryin to keep from switching services.
It's impossible to use a Verizon Droid X on AT&T due to the phone being CDMA. If you has the GSM variant the Milestone X, you could use it.
Even without being activated, the Droid X is a great phone to play around with.

[Q] Anyone have an iPhone 5 and Nexus 4

I'm with AT&T and currently have an iPhone 5 and HTC One X. The problem is when I put my sim in my One X, I can only get cell service (no data). Will that be the same for the Nexus 4 as that is the phone i really want instead of the HOX.

Did you check the APN settings on HTC One X? I presume you used a sim card adapter to fit a nano sim in HTC One X?
If you get a nexus 4 it will work perfectly and you will get HSPA+ network. Your HTC one x should work too check the apn settings.
i did use an adapter. One X settings will not let me change the apn, but it should already be set up for LTE as it is an LTE device right?

have you tried pressing the options button on the apn screen and choosing reset to defaults ? it should wipe the apn's and let you choose new ones
I did but it won't let me select the new one I create. I think the iPhone plan won't let you use other phones on it. At least that's what the reps at AT&T said
SOLVED

I went into AT&T to try to get them to help me. Met a fairly knowledgeable rep who got me taken care of. iphone will work on non-iphone lte plan but android won't work on an iphone lte plan. So my one x and iphone are interchangeable now  (with a sim adapter of course!)
Hope this will help someone else
It would help if you mention what the rep did to fix it.

Droid Turbo for use on T-Mobile?

Will this work?
It appears to support all the necessary radios/bands.
I would love the droid turbo (camera/screen) vs. the nexus 6.
Would be cool if the droid turbo (bought full retail) could be used on T-Mobile.
Any thoughts/comments?

I believe the Turbo will be launched for other carriers (T-Mobile/AT&T) as the "Moto X Play", from what I've read. This was based on FCC filings, but I forget where I saw it.

Seems like a better phone than the nexus 6.
I'm going to buy the 6 at launch but feel the 6" screen will be too big for me,.
-RR
I'm curious if the Moto X Play will be like the "pure" edition and will work on Verizon. It seems like the Nexus 6 will support all bands for all carriers, so there is only one SKU for that device in the USA, and a second SKU for international use.
If the Moto X Play is literally a carbon copy of the Droid Turbo but supports the additional bands, I'll buy it from Moto instead of VZW.
Only 6 days and 20 hours left...
Edit: I said pure edition, which is a Moto X thing, but really meant the N6 idea of having all bands on one device. Having the Turbo and Moto X Play is to get around the exclusivity of the Droid name, which is now locked up with Moto and Verizon only.
I think GSM version that visited the FCC might be called the Moto Maxx instead of the Moto X Play

Thanks! I was hot on the Verizon Droid Turbo but now I will wait to see if Motorola will come out with a Pure Edition model of it! Not sure they will however! Motorola seem to be giving out the high ends to exclusive tied U.S. carriers. Hope I am wrong! Love to buy a U.S. version Moto Maxx or Moto X Play unlocked 5.2" with the specs of the Nexus 6 inside!

Moto X Verizon LTE-A?

Does anyone know if it's compatible?
I would also like to know this :good::good:
Moto X is in the list right before Z Droid and Z Droid Force
How do you know if your phone is utilizing this service.

What list? All I find is a list of fairly random phones Verizon sells (no moto x pure, or s6 edge for that matter).
It wont let me paste the link, but its straight from the Verizon lte-advanced site.
There is a list of LTE-A capable phones in this article towards the bottom. They infer they got the list from Verizon but don't explicitly say so. That is why I asked how do you know if your phone is using it. Here's the link: http://www.droid-life.com/2016/08/29/verizon-lte-a-advanced-network-cities/

I saw that list. "Moto X" is pretty vague.. Is it the 2014 version, Pure, Etc...
If anyone has insight it would be great to hear.
Purely circumstantial, but I had what appeared to be unusually speedy downloads on my Moto X Pure on Verizon this morning. I don't recall seeing these speeds in the prior tests (usually 25-50Mbps down). Proves nothing, but perhaps suggestive of LTE-A use?
Sure looks like it. What ROM you running?
Aren't all SD 801+ phones and tablets LTE-A enabled? Most of the phones on that list have at least an 801 or newer, if not an alternative like the 410 or 605.

Isn't the Droid Turbo basically the Moto X Pure? Verizon says it's supported.

I'm running the unrooted stock ROM.
Has anyone else been able to verify if Advanced works or not? I had a buddy at work that was getting 90 to 100 with an S7 while I was getting around 40 ?
I have both a Moto x Pure, and a S6 Edge, and side by side they get roughly the same speeds (+/-5mbs) here in SF. I average about 20 mbs with Verizon.
Ugh still a grey area for a certain answer. I'm not seeing anything really above 30/20, nothing to complain about but it's not a 100 meg connection like some are claiming.
Have a feeling there are software prerequisites that must be met
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
VZW recently boosted speeds in my area, Louisville KY, and I've seen up to 60/20 on mine. Other days and locations I only pull 12/3.
Anyone have a definitive answer yet?
Here in Houston I can't confirm either
Sent from my XT1575 using Tapatalk
According to the description of LTE Discovery app, it will display active LTE-A information in rooted devices, but it doesn't mention how it handles Link Aggregation. Just throwing it out there...

I'm in Tampa running TruPure and haven't gotten a bump, despite having all my advanced goodies enabled.
Someone in the TruPure thread has triple digit speeds, so it doesn't appear to be my ROM holding me back.
