Change ROM on i9505 - Questions - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need your help to answer a few questions about changing my i9505 ROM. I have now BMG7 (Orange Romania) ROM and i want to update it to the last German firmware BMGA(this is the last one right?) My phone is branded(it has orange applications, orange boot logo etc...) and it is locked(i purchased it with subscription).
My question is if i update it to the BMGA firmware(stock one, from sammobile) will i lose the warranty? If i lose it i can put the BGM7 firmware back before going to the shop, right?
The second very important question is: if i put BMG7 back ( also the official version of sammmobile for orange romania) before going to the shop will i have the orange apps, the boot logo etc. back?
And also what i want to know is if the phone will be locked again in the carrier... Because if it is unlocked(after i upgrade it to the German firmware) i guess the guys from the shop will figure out that i changed the rom or something..
Thank you

see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683

It's ok...i was scared that after flashing the latest german firmware my phone will be unlocked and i dont want that.
I think tomorrow i will flash it because i'm quiet now.
When i will go to the shop i will flash back the Orange RO firmware and my phone will have the orange apps back and it will be locked like now. Right?

What CID Lock do I have?

Hi all,
first of all appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place but I don't think it quite belobgs in ROM development .
My question is basicaly how do I find out what CID lock is on my HD2?
I bought the phone sim unlocked and all is fine. It works fine with my Virgin sim (UK). I would like to upgrade to the latest official ROM as I don't feel ready to experiment with cooked ROMs just yet.
However when I log on to the HTC web site and try to download a ROM it says "Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
I have tried it from both the UK and Europe web sites but get the same result.
The current rom shows no branding of any sort, also there is non on the phone itself.
Is it CID locked to an operators SIM's? If so how do I find out which and will I be able to get a ROM from them if I don't use them?
Or will I have to go the HSPL route and go cooked roms?
Any Help or guidance greatly appreciated.
Regards
Clive
There are truely unlocked phones, and then there are those unlocked but the serial numbers are blocked on request of the service provider. Vodafone, O2 and (I'm guessing) Virgin do this so you can only upgrade when they OK the ROM release.
You can install HSPL which gets around all that and lets you explore the wonderful world of cooked ROMs...read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477
ROM lock and SIM lock are not the same and not connected.
If the HTC website says invalid serial, then the ROM is locked. (Probably to Virgin, if that's where you got it from) and you must wait for them (virgin) to release the update. That is the ONLY way to install a new rom without using HSPL/SSPL
EDIT - Oh, and your line "Or will I have to go the HSPL route and go cooked roms?", , , , HSPL isn't just for cooked roms, it will let you install official HTC roms too, if you want, not just cooked ones.
I didn't get it from Virgin, my SIM is Virgin and that's what I put in it. I bought it privately. I'm guessing then it is CID Locked to Vodaphone or the like.
OK so it looks like HSPL is the route to go?
If I want to install an official HTC ROM how can I download it as I have to enter my serial number and it gets rejected? Are they available elsewhere?
Am I likely to loose anything (apart from guarantee ) by installing latest HTC rom and any advice on which one? I guess by that I mean EU or UK versions?
Thanks for the replies by the way much appreciated
Its pretty important that you know who it was locked to, because to uninstal HSPL, or to fix it if things go bad, the very best thing to have available is the stock rom. As for losing guarantee, if you bought it privately then you already lost that, right?

Pretty much although I could send it back through the seller.
Is there way way I can get a copy of the current ROM/SPL out of my phone and save it as a backup?

Daft question.

How dose one tell if their X10 is branded or unbranded? (ie generic or not)
I believe you can see that information in Settings>About Phone.
yes there is info there but i dont see where it says branded or not so thats why im asking

You need to go into the hidden menu. Go to the lock screen. and type in
menu, back, back, menu,back,menu,menu,back
Then go on service info. then model info.
ok, so it says brand, orange so its branded
But there are no orange software or anything on the phone

Unlucky. You can look into debranding. Its what I did. Or you can hope someone hosts the file up.
i had the same problem, debranding is easy its in the decrypted roms thread, download the files let it flash and viola its debranded as it installs a generic firmware onto the phone
about the apps thing, did your phone not have traffic tv or was that just me?
its got traffiv tv ya, thought that was just something sony stuck on there lol

It voids your warrenty, If you hand the phone into repair and it's running non orange software then they will not repair and and charge you for its returnal.
Though saying that. I handed in a x10 which was on nordic software into a o2 store with a fualty usb port. They replaced the phone. But that might be because they could not turn it on.
Becareful and no the risks before you debrand

I read somewhere here that when you flashed your phone with a official generic version then the warranty won't be voided
here in mexico techs from my carrier are so damn stupid that they won't even notice is not their firmware (just for the record, had an x1 with winmo in spanish, asked them how to change it to english or if they can put the firmware in english, their solution, to change the country settings, seriously they suck)
I have a daft question - If we update to 2.1 can we still hack bootloader if the devs get to it in the near future?
I'd have to assume it remains the same right?
What if it says Customized? Is that branded or debranded?

[Q] For warranty its ok any RUU or do i need theone from my contry orfrom my carrier

hello,
1 ive saw that for warranty i cant give to htc one wildfire with a custom rom, otherwise they will ban my wildfire from future support thats right?
2 to have supporto i need to restore the phone with a ruu from htc and in this way i will get warranty support, thats right?
3 do i need a ruu from my country or the one exactly from my carrier as i will lose warranty and any support if htc will discover ive changed the ruu on my phone with one different, different language or just with one that is not the one from the carrier who sold the phone to me?
SORRY ive just saw this is the wrong forum, can somebody move to the general one? thanks
1.Yes
2.Yes
3.At the time of purchase if your phone was carrier locked then you should need the carrier RUU.
or else get the RUU for your country.if you cant find one then go for WWE RUU.
actually my phone never had any lock, nor carrier locks. it just had a logo fromthe carrier starting up and didt yet get the froyo update cause the carrier should roll it out and still didnt
does this mean that i could install the wwe ruu generic keeping the warranty support or do i need any italian rom or still i have to install the same carrier ruu otherwise i will lose warranty support?

Hi Which Firmware Should I Flash My Phone With

Hey guys, my phone comes with the folleong firmware - LG-E900AT-00-V10b-505-02-OCT-07-2010
I live in a country not described in the following thread ( Fiji, yep, i live in fii, but i bought the phone from australia, but will use it in fiji)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578
So any suggestions to which one i should flash it to?
ok, so no one has any feedback? :C what about this, anyone here flashed a phone bought from Australia or New Zealand and flashed it to Europe Open?
hey guys one more question, the roms on this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935578
if i was to flash to one of those, will i get mango applied with it or is that a separate procedure i have to do? i am so confused
flash with the one you feel more comfortable with, go for an open rom, it will work with any operator in any country of this world.
hey thanks for geting back to me, just the second question still lingers, does this upgrade my phone to mango as well or is this just a 'bios' upgrade?
if i was to use the australian optus firmware, will the phone become locked to that carrier?
i know these are basic questions, but i thought i would check before i flash cos i dont want to brick anything
took the dive and flashed to australian optus. worked awesome, thanks
just incase anyoneis interested in knowing, i dont have any battery issue with this mango upgrade and it didnt lock my phone to any carrier

remove netlock with custom rom?!

Hey there,
first of all, english is not my main-language.
So I got my Samsung Omnia 7 repaired because I got this ****ty Bootloop-Problem. I googled this problem and I found various Thread that said "go flash it!"
So I flashed it with an old T-Mobile Firmware.
Well...I contacted Samsung and they got me a new one today (they repaired it). So it's working again but now I have the T-Mobile Firmware on the phone which results in having a Netlock. So my E-Plus Simcard isn't working anymore.
I've already flashed the phone once again with a custom ROM but there's still a netlock. Simlock, SP lock etc. are all on "disabled", only the Netlock is "enabled".
So...Is it even possible to "unlock" my phone with a custom software? I mean...it was fully unlocked...then I used this ****ty T-Mobile Firmware-flash-thinngy and now it's locked. Do I have to pay for this Unlock-Code? Or can I flash it "away" with a special custom ROM?
Would be nice If someone could help me out here!
Cheers and thanks in advance
EDIT :
I got this T-Mobile firmware my Phone has a small "Orange" Logo on it's back and the manual was in french so I think it's from Orange France....so there's no Chance to get in contact with them! Got the Phone from ebay last year!
