Was wondering if there is a fix for my problem or am I missing something. Just rooted and installed cm10.1.3 on my 3113. After I flashed the ROM I couldn't get into recovery it would just reboot. I had to use "recovery tools" from the play store to reflash 6023 cwm. Is there a fix or way to keep it from going away after I flash a ROM?

Hi I just flashed CWM on my Indian Idea Blade using Rom Manager. It flashed successfully but when i boot into recovery it shows just 4 options - reboot, install update.zip, wipe data & wipe cache.
Where are the other options ?
Rom manager says the recovery version is 5.0.2.0 which i believe is the latest one.
Anyone has a clue why the options are missing ?

The recovery you see is the stock one. Download recovery manager app from modaco after rooting and install the recovery after updating the app.

ROM Toolbox has a recovery installer that includes TWRP. Just run the install; it'll overwrite current recovery.
It's under Tools - ROM Management - Recovery

I don't recommend using an app to install a custom recovery. I've seen too many reports of people bricking their device with it.
It's just as easy to use a simple tool to do it...this is the one I prefer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297033&highlight=oudhs
It lets you pick TWRP or CWM and will do the whole thing for you.
If you use rom manager or goo manager ONLY for putting a recovery on it works pretty well. It's when you use it to flash roms is when you can get into trouble. I'd recommend deleting it after getting your recovery. It's too easy to play with it and find the wrong rom for your device. Especially for someone new to flashing.
So whenever I wipe and install a new rom, my recovery tells me I lost root. Whether I tell it to install root or not, my phone always hangs on the Samsung custom logo when I reboot. Still able to restore though.
I have tried to get past it using TWRP (USING "wipe") and Philz (using "clean to install new rom") , and even Odin'ed back to stock. I still get stuck. I'm on AT&T US, and I've even tried flashing different modems (MDB, MDL, MF3).
Ideas?

OK. Tried to install CM11 on my phone today. Stupidly tried with ROM manager. The flash failed. I tried to go back to recovery but each time I boot to recovery CWM tries to flash the same ROM. So I couldn't get back into cwm to nandroid restore. Tried re-flashed cwm with Odin but still would try to install the ROM at recovery. Had to flash twrp clear everything re-flash my original ROM and titanium backup restore. Any ideas how I can stop cwm from trying to re-flash the problem ROM if I go back to cwm recovery??

Hi,
What phone variant do you have?
i9505 or i9505G?
Maybe you can find where the recovery script is located that CWM is trying to open? Then delete that file so CWM won't be able to take orders from it.

It's the i9505 but with the Google version of 4.4.2

That's what I was guessing but have no idea where this is stored. It's pretty low level so I'd be surprised if it was file based.

Hi
Yes - used the wipe option inside CWM
It may have been a problem with the download file - will retry
Have you deleted the ROM or any files that CWM can reference?

A file location would be quite useful at this point??
Hello everyone! Think that I did something kinda stupid today..but not sure. I have installed cwm recovery (philz version, latest) but today I was transfering over a backup to my pc (I removed it from phone to pc), well that was what I thought..(the file was TWRP, since it was a twrp nandroid backup and I had twrp before cwm) so later, when I tried to go to recovery, I couldn't, I tried with FreeGee, but nothing happened...so does this mean that I have lost my recovery? I tried to put the files back on phone where they was but it doesn't seem like that have helped...
So any other methods to get into recovery mode? And have I lost it by deleting a twrp file containing a backup and a twrps. file on 2kb?
P.s when I look into the TWRP folder, I don't have the twrps file....is that the problem, and what is that file? Is it loki or something?
P.S 2: My phone is working fine..
Anyone?
If you're still rooted, you could install Goo Manager, which will allow you to install a recovery.

I do have root, and I am running cloudystock 1.2 (kitkat), but can I just install a recovery since I am on a stock kitkat rom? Think I have done it now.....
What ROM did you have when you first installed cwm?
Sent from my VS980 4G using xda app-developers app
I had stock 4.2.2 rom when I first installed recovery, but I overwrited my twrp recovery and installed cwm (that too on stock 4.2.2 rom
Try installing Quick Boot (free in the Play Store.) It provides an easy way to boot into recovery. This should show whether CWM or TWRP are still on your phone.
