Tried going into boot loader tablet wont power on - Nexus 7 (2013) General

I tried going into the booloader by pressing power keys and on button and nothing happened. Now the tablet wont respond to anything, and I cannot turn it back on. Any idea what happened?

Should be vol down + power keys. Also put it on a charger, perhaps it is just drained. If battery is too low, it won't boot.

Vol down + power key allowed me to turn it on. thanks.

If anyone else has this issue and the above does not resolve your issue. Charge... Then hold the power button for 60 seconds. Should boot.

Yea I tried this last night. Before 15Q it was the standard VolUp + VolDwn + Power. But it won't even turn on trying that now. I could turn it on, bootloop, and hold power to force a shutdown... but couldn't get into bootloader.
I kept screwing with mine and used just Power + one of the Volume buttons and it booted directly into my custom recovery.
Mine was fully charged. Mine was bootlooping and I could turn it on with no problems but couldn't get into the bootloader AT ALL. Luckily I had a custom recovery on there to ADB Push files over.

It VolUp+VolDown, it is Power+VolUp for recovery and Power+VolDown for bootloader
Has been that way since initial release, though sometimes you get lucky pressing both and it gets you one or the other.

stuck on google trying to unlock

Tried to oem unlock my nexus 7 but pressed the power but to go to recovery mode. Tried different methods of turning it off, hold power, hold power + vol up/down, hold vol up & down with no luck. Now im wondering if i just need to let the battery die or something im not doing right.
If you hold POWER for 10+ seconds it will turn off. Then hold POWER, VOL UP/DOWN and it will load into bootloader. Hasn't failed me once even after F'ing up some ROM installs (for fun as tests). I've always been able to get back and fix myself.

ive held the power button for minutes with no luck...thought holding the power + vol down would work like on my one x but not luck either.
Remove the microUSB connector, wait 30 seconds, and then try again.
What screen are you actually stuck on?

so while trying to oem unlock i accidentally pressed the power button on recovery, so currently im on the white google with black screen page. am i suppose to reconnect to the usb after the 30 seconds?
Doesn't matter. Just leave the cable unplugged and then try boot up into fastboot mode again. There's no reason it shouldn't make it there.
UNLESS... you interrupted the OEM Unlock half way through. Maybe it screwed up your boot.img or something. Still, I would suspect you can get around that and back into bootloader.

Sorry mate. I've never had a problem power cycling a nexus device even after royally F'ing it up on purpose. Maybe just let the device sit there all alone for a bit, unplugged, and then try again in 15 minutes.
Best of luck.
problem solved-fixed with battery pull

Brick Nexus 7

try recharging by power adapter for some time and then try to boot ( at least into recovery with volume down + power ) to see if it does a thing.
nexus 7 might not charge up with usb.
I would charge it via the mains for a few hours then try power it on by holding the power button for 30 seconds.
Failing this, you can try boot into recovery (post above).
Failing that! I don't know sorry!

Yes. USB and via mains charge
and tried holding power button for 30s.
both fail...
Ok, try hold the power button for atleast 60s, if nothing, wait a few mins and hold power button and volume up and volume down for atleast 60s.
I'm really not sure what can be done if the device doesn't turn on at all!

You could try doing all of the above, whilst plugged into the mains...

*edit* I'm not sure what you can do if you can't get it to turn on!

Just a long shot here cos I'm about as baffled as everyone else here but you could always try disconnecting the battery from the board for a few minutes and then try again?

No. Can u boot into fastboot? What you did will not affect fastboot.you should press power + volup +vol down. If u get fast boot just flash factory stock image n u will b fine

Sounds like it's fried if holding both volume buttons and power for awhile doesn't turn at least the screen on. Does it smell funny?

Phone not turning on and led flashing rapidly

I just flashed MOAR rom on my phone a few days ago and everything was working perfectly then while at work I pulled my phone out of my pocket and noticed my case had slipped off and was holding the power button down. After fixing the case I tried to unlock my phone and nothing came up on my screen. I held down the power button and the only thing that happened was my LED indicator is flashing green rapidly and at different brightness. Then I pulled the battery and left it out of my phone for 2 hours and still the only thing that is happening is the LED. When I plug it into my computer without me hitting the button the LED is flashing. It wont boot into recovery and I don't want to send it in and them find a custom rom on it so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am assuming it won't go into download mode either? Try holding the power button in for at least 30-40 seconds.

No, I've tried holding just the power button for a minute or trying to go into either download or recovery mode and got nothing.

Try the same thing with the charger plugged in.
"Try holding down the power button for 1 minute with the charger connected. If this doesn't present the screen, try holding the power button AND both volume buttons at the same time. This should bring up a menu. There should be an option for reboot or force reboot"

Just something I found while looking for answers. At least your battery is getting warm. That is better than the alternative.

Are you using the original data cable? Try a different USB port maybe?

Oh boy, a boot loop!

Get my shiny new phone, start it once, turn it off because I forgot to swap sim cards, and then it's just stuck at a screen that has a circle with a small "S" shape in it which I took to be the "charging" screen. Well ****. I force power-off the device and power it on again. "Installing updates" followed by "failed to mount /system" Huh. Cue an hour of frustration and not being able to find firmware and here we are. Advice? Please? Recovery menu does nothing to help and my next plan is to just flash stock firmware but apparently that doesn't exist (Sprint standard US fyi).
Update: I have no words. "Run graphic test" from the recovery options seems to have fixed the bootloop.
Update 2: the "fix" was only temporary. Nice. Back to the drawing board.
The easiest way is to return it to Samsung or your carrier.
Wow. That really sucks. :/

This thread is very old. But usually this issue stems from needing a factory reset. His inability to flash firmware is cause he was in recovery not download mode.

Phone freezes and reset is impossible

The phone is on original 7.0 rom. Since 2 or 3 weeks the device gets frozen unconditionaly. I tried holding power and volume down button for more than 30 secs to restart but this and other combinations didn't work. Only waiting for a battery drain off make the phone restartable.

Mine is doing the same thing. It also reboots randomly. I am beginning to suspect that it is a hardware problem.

power and volume down when device is off wont do anything - you need to press home as well. But that combination is for download mode not recovery, which is volume up, home and power.

That may not work either - I have had black screen several time (usually on S8 Ports), when the only way to restart it is easy but annoying.
Just plug it into a power source. As soon as you see anything on the screen, go to download mode, but use sound down button as soon as download comes up and it should reboot.
Have had to do it around 12 times in the last few months.

I just experience the same issue and have tried all the button combinations. Are you simply just leaving the phone alone for the battery drain off? THat is the only thing I have not tried as I don't know when the battery is dead.
