Who uses this app with there n4? What kind of set up do you use? Do you stream it to your tv? Reason I'm asking is I have been using it for awhile and I most recently started streaming it to my tv. It works well most of the time but I'm trying to figure out the optimal set up.

I steam from my sever using nfs. Have htpcs hooked up to other TV sets so I only really use it on my n4 if I'm in the small room or in the garden.
I currently run the experimental Gotham alpha with the libstagefright as it's the only build that comfortably handles all my 1080 content and anime with ass subs

How do the gotham builds handle HD content? Is it better than the final frodo build? I'm using a xaf custom build which uses mx player as the default video player instead of the xmbc player. With mx I can download a custom codec and I have options to use a HW decoder or SW one. This set up works better than the non custom xmbc app.

They are similar except the libstagefright build enables hardware acceleration on the built in xbmc player. I only prefer this method over the mx player because the last time I tried a xaf build it would not handle .ass subtitles
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Ok. I will try it out. The frodo build did not have hW exceleration? Also the issue I'm having is it seems like any time I stream a video it starts off fine. Then after so long it becomes choppy. The phone gets really hot and stops charging. I'm assuming so the battery can cool down. I'm wondering if the choppiness is because of wifi issues, or thermal throttling occurring. I want to say it's the latter since the wifi connectio is really solid

i just updated to alpha4 and this build is apparently not working properly on the N4, network shares just crash the app.
so i reverted back to alpha2 which works nicely for everything i use it for
EDIT: Ignore that, i was been a dumbass and had my WIFI off.
just tested and working fine here

im guessing you grabbed a normal build as they do stutter on HD and get very hot very quick (because they are all software decoding)

Well the one I get to work the best is the xaf build. And the SW decoding option seems to work the best using mx player. I did get the gotham alpha 2 to work. Ill give it a test run and see how it goes

I just noticed that all the webserver setup is gone in Gotham. On both windows and android builds.
Thankfully you can still set it up through the XML files
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Gave the alpha build a test run. Watched a couple of episodes of Game of thrones. Each episode I watched froze at some point and ended the stream. Playback was good. Progress is being made. So I decided to reinstall the xaf build and used mxplayer again. Used only hw excelleration . Phone ran much cooler. Had some stuttering but nothing crazy. Might of been wifi related.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Hmm very weird. The only times it has ever binned out of the app for me is when I'm scanning a new source into the library.
Everything else has been flawless.
In fact I'm watching a 720p game of thrones right now and it's flawless for me.
But I suppose if you have a different setup or method of streaming you could be running into bugs that I am not
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
So after using it for almost a week I'm more frustrated than anything. I constantly get booted out of movies or shows. When I fast forward to where I left off they never start. Just stay frozen. Im going between the frodo xaf build and the gotham build as one works better for some streams and vice versa. I use icefilms for most thing s. Is that my issue? It just seems there are so many possibilities and options and I can't pinpoint the issue. Also I'm not tech savvy enough to look into the code side of things. Any suggestions?

Also I'm streaming via miracast to my tv. Could this be an issue

[Q] Netflix and youtube app

Hi,
So xbmc on the ouya is pretty much the best experience i´ve gotten so far on a small setup! love it.
But when i install the netflix apk, its really hard / impossible to navigate with the D-pad, plus the quality of the stream seems to be aimed at mobile phones. Anyone gotten a better APK where you can browse with the d-pad and get a good quality stream?
And youtube, i managed to install the youtube APK, and the streams are looking great, but i cant login, plus it seems i just find the stock mobile version, ive heard that the google tv is alot better, but does it enable log in as well?
Sorry for the wall of text, but these are the 2 missing features i really want.
I have installed the tv versions of both apps and they are easier to navigate. No problem logging in but I do have the google store mod.
Netflix quality can be poor at times.

This was the same version I had already. It still doesn't work well with controller without touch pad and quality still sucks for a tv unfortunately

Did you ever figure this out? My wife hates me for putting for taking out our ****ty streamer and replacing it with the Ouya. On Netflix, can't scroll through right or left when picking when you want to watch and can't scroll down to select episodes of TV shows when there is more than 5-6.

The easiest solution I have found it just have a bluetooth mouse. You can just drag the screen up and down, etc as if you were touching the screen. It works pretty well.
Or you can use the touchpad of the controller to scroll. Double tab and then drag up. It's a bit sluggish but it works.
The only problem I have is that the playback stops if the controller turns itself off.
using netflix apk 1.8.1
i got the 1.8.1 working with no playback issues, and with some use of ouya control, does not pause when the control turns off.
My only gripe is the subtitles are very small... can any dev can do a modified netflix 1.8.1 apk with bigger fonts?

SteamOS

Hi, I just stumbled upon this news http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/
You can play all your Windows and Mac games on your SteamOS machine, too. Just turn on your existing computer and run Steam as you always have - then your SteamOS machine can stream those games over your home network straight to your TV!
---
Basically the concept is the same with nvidia shield streaming, BUT no need for keppler, I hope somebody will make a dual boot system for shield for this new OS. or better if nvidia can make something that enables playing steam games natively.
Will never happen with nvidia they are too closed and that doesn't give you a reason to upgrade to an nvidia GPU.

The streaming stuff will likely only be available for newer Nvidia hardware. AFAIK they never stated that all features would be available on all hardware.
This would probably never happen as Valve would need to release an ARM port of SteamOS, which I don't see happening any time in the near future.

[Q] Infuriating Bluetooth Controller Lag on S4

I've got a GS4 running 4.4.2 AOSP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474) and I want to use my Moga Pro Power (http://androidspin.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/MOGA-Pro-Power.png) to play games like NFS MW and emulators like Super Gnes but I get an infuriating lag of ~0.4 of a second between pushing a button and the action happening, making games like Super Mario World on Gnes impossible. I've also tried a dualshock 3 controller over bluetooth and the lag is still there. If I use the PS3 controller plugged in with an OTG then the input lag is unnoticable. Is there anything I can do to improve the lag since I've read reviews and other xda threads which say the Moga works great?
Similar issue with the Nintendo Wii controller on both my S4 and Note 8. It worked fine on my previous Asus Transformer Prime from what I remember. It just may be how bluetooth is configured on our devices. Likewise, I have the same issue with my car's stereo, when I try to control the music playback. I wonder if there is a way to adjust it, but I doubt it.
So this looks like a Samsung issue then..... Were you running stock TouchWiz on your devices? What version of android were you using? I've looked all over the internet for someone with a similar problem with no luck. The strange thing is that I also get the lag on my Asus Nexus 7 with both my dualshock and moga.
Can the kernel affect Bluetooth performance because I've got a custom kernel that came with the AOSP rom?

I was running stock TouchWiz, with versions 4.1.2 to 4.2.2. I have not tried it on 4.4.2. I would think that the kernel could have an effect on the bluetooth performance, but I don't know enough to say that it's the only thing.
I see, I rechecked and actually also have a noticeable lag when using my sixaxis plugged in to both the S4 and nexus 7 (not as bad but still quite noticeable) which could mean this is a general input issue just more noticeable on Bluetooth.... What factors could affect input lag from external devices?

[Q] Audio & video out of sync

Hi guys, I have small but annoying issue with my Nexus 10:
When watching a video (in any app, including youtube) the audio and the video are slightly out of sync. This is noticeable even for the smallest file and gets a lot worse at 2gb+ movies. I understand the tablet has to cope with this huge resolution but even with 100mb videos? I noticed this on 4.4.2 but it's the same on 4.4.4.
Now, I wonder could somebody recommend a ROM where this issue is not present? I heard SlimKat was pretty good for example but I dont know how it handles video playback.
Thanks in advance

Anyone? I also wonder if custom kernel would help
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
I never had this issue. You could try to use a custom kernel. If that doesnt work I suggest you try out f2fs.

Hmm strange that mine would be different from any other out there..anyways i'll try, thanks for the tips!
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
That is strange. Have you downloaded a video and tried watching it directly from your N10? This would maybe rule out a slim chance of an internet or wifi issue. I only say this because I had a weird issue with my wifi that was causing slow and strange results including audio/video out of sync.
What are you currently running - i.e. kernel and ROM?

Ah yes, also for downloaded files. And it gets worse with larger files.
I'm running stock 4.4.2. Maybe Lollipop will fix it..Btw I've found Dice Player in the meantime, which has audio offset functionality - this was the quickest fix for now

Hi,
When playing some super high quality videos I face this problem too. But on KitKat update and using MX Player SW decoder I can play any file without problems. I suggest you to try it!
