Goodbye AT&T Pure

I have been a long time member and supporter of windows mobile. I think I have hit my threshold though. This "pure", is pure; pure crap. From the cheap ass plastic, bluish case to the horrible AT&T branded rom that comes with it. Yes I have tried all the different roms out there right now but they cant help the build quality on this thing. I should have kept my Touch HD T8285. The phone aspect is worthless. Granted it could be the network. This is my second unit after the first one was basically a paper weight. Now I have 3 days left to decide to keep it or get something else. I am really at a crossroads. My loyalty and support is to this incredible community, but this phone makes me want to punch myself. I dont want to go to the dark side (apple), but I am running out of options right now. Your feedback.

I think the build quality on the Pure is great. Edges and buttons match up perfectly, it has a solid feel, no flexing or squeaking, good to the touch. I have no problem with the build at all.
Only thing I don't really like is the plastic, but the pure is designed to be ultra small and lightweight. I suppose if you don't like the housing you could always swap it out for a new third-party housing when they're available. Maybe there will be a carbon or titanium Pure housing.
As for ROMs, the AT&T one was pure bloat. I ditched that after a week. I'm now running Dutty's Holy Grail R1 ROM, which runs really well on the Pure. Surprisingly well. Try it out. You might change your mind about keeping the Pure.

Dutty's is pretty good. I love my Pure. I came from a Fuze and while the keyboard was nice for internet, it made the phone feel flimsy.
The Pure is actually really nice. I was looking at the HD 8285, but the screen size on the Pure is really nice, IMO. I'm a chef from the raphael forums so I don't use many other roms, but I did try a few to get a good feel for it.
Energyroms and Dutty's are always good.

i think the pure is a real nice phone. feels great in hand and everything runs great. i ditched the att rom from day 1. i was tossing between the tilt 2 and pure. i too came from the fuze and i hardly ever used the keyboard and thats why i went with the pure. no regrets at all so far. hopefully you can find something good about this phone in the next few days.

Did you PM me about dropping your HD for the Pure? Never mind it was RAP5 who PM'd me. Sorry.
Sorry to here about that. Get rid of the Pure and spend the cash and get the original unlocked TD2. Feels nice and solid. not plasticky like the Pure or Get that HD back. ANDROID MAN. IT's running on it. If anything spend $520 and get an Unlocked HERO (The Original and Best Looking HERO) then get the Cheap $10 internet and enjoy.

Hate to see anyone give up on a phone so early..But I sold my Pure and kept the 8285. I will get another Pure, as I am not convinced this is a Pure Crap phone...not yet. It's got to be the AT&T software, choking the phone out of it's capabilities. I really liked the slim form and light weitht, fits easier in pockets than the 8285. Voice quality was very good and emails came over quick. I didn't keep it long enough to compare it to the HD but I also kept the HD.

I know what you mean about the Pure, I have an X1, and decided to get the Pure while my X1 was undergoing a warranty repair. The warranty stuff went quickly, so although I purchased the Pure, I've only used it for a week. Here are my thoughts.
I thought the housing felt cheap at first, but then the fact the phone was so light grew on me. Nonetheless, I feel we are getting mifed on our hardware. We get an old processor, a screen that is still kind of small, and why is the phone so damned thick??? My year old X1 is just 1 or 2 mm thicker, and the Moto Droid is thinner. Both phones have keyboards, and the Pure does not...
I know I'll get flamed for this man, but given the price of the Pure as compared to the iPhone, I'm considering exchanging it for an iPhone... I'll still have my X1, and I can probably sell the iPhone for more than the Pure on eBay.

I previously had the 8125 (Wizard) and 8525 (Hermes) phones... And I love my Pure. I like all the built-in features that I used to use third-party software for:
o Tab Manager/Calendar events on Today screen (pocketbreeze)
o Weather on Today screen (pocketweather)
o Nice task manager and program launcher (iLauncher)
o Easy access to world times (CityTime)
I also wanted a smaller, thinner phone to carry around in my pocket and a bigger screen, don't really need the keyboard. Got all that in the Pure.
Now I may be looking to upgrade if the HD2 does make it to the US... but for now, I'm very happy !

I'm not even sure I would ditch my Pure for an HD2. Of course it's awesome, but it's also huge. The Pure fits perfectly in the bottom of my pocket. The HD2 is really so large and so wafer thin that it might get a lot of twisting and tortional abuse while in a pocket. I can only imagine leaning forward to stand up, and hearing the HD2 crack.
The HD2 seems to me to be more of a mobile internet device than a phone. I'll take a look at it, that's for sure, but I'm guessing it'll be too large for my taste and I'll probably stick with my Pure, which I absolutely love.

I find the HD to be a perfect size. The HD2 is slightly bigger and may or maynot be a problem. But it is thinner than the TD2 which is nice. I was expecting my TD2 to be thicker than what it is but would love for it to be thinner. I'll just wait till the spring for the next gen TD and android phones instead of juping ship and getting an HD2 I may not like.

Well it is official I traded in my pure for an iphone 3gs. Yes the iphone is wider, heavier, but it works. I hate to say it but it is a great device. I am very sasd to be leaving the forums but the pure was just the last straw. The phone reception between the pure and the iphone was a night and day difference. We tested it in the store with the manager. I dont know why the signal strength was so different if both devices are quad band?? Anyway my best wishes to all pure owners, if you are under the 30 days you might want to try the dark side a try (apple). HTC can no longer keep carrying the weight of windows mobile alone with there touchflo/sense. Microsft really needs to provide a decent platform to compete with the likes of apple.

[Q] S4 vs Note 2

I already got 2 S4 coming, but question is, I keep reading around in different threads that maybe the Note 2 is a better device than the S4, a few people who've already got their S4 are saying that the S4 does not compare to the Note 2, my wife wanted the note 2, and I talked her out of it....man I am in deep shi$ if she gets wind of any of this....and she reads a few areas here in xda...I smell the dog house coming
Throw out a few opinions...PLEASE! save me

I have never used a S4 (I do own a Note 2) and based on specs alone the S4 wins (full hd display with almost twice the pixel density and dual quad core processors). Good news is, if your wife really wants a Note 2 you should be able to easily sell your S4, buy a Note 2 and pocket a few hundred bucks.

Thank you for that advice, spec wise is what I sold her on, but there a few people out there bashing the S4.
I am going to keep her out of the forums until she gets the S4 in her hand, she has a note 1 now.

My wife has a note 2 and the only thing to be envious about is battery life. After using the s4 for a week or two now, I'm always taken back on the screen quality of the note 2. It's no where near as good as the s4. Same goes for ergonomics, camera and so on. You made the right choice, don't listen to trolls and ask yourself, if the note 2 is so much better, why are their fan base posing in the s4 section?

Once the S4 gets some stable custom roms out with custom kernels I am sure the S4's battery life issues will be a non factor. I run Jedi Master 13 with Saberkernel 23 on my Note 2 and the speed and battery life of the rom blows the Note 2 stock rom out of the water. You are right, people are just trolling. Based on the S4s specs it is a superior phone.

Thanks guys, I kinda knew the G4 had better graphics, on the battery side, the Note gets her some serious time. I think I made the right choice, seen a few posts where some of the G4 users are selling them off now. wow. Don't remember, but I think this issue came up when the G3 was released also. man, I can not wait till I have that phone.

Really, only get the Note if you need the s-pen features and plan to actually, you know, take notes on the thing. Otherwise, go for the newest shiny.

That's exactly what my wife and I discovered. She came from the LG Lollipop to the Note2, and she was ecstatic about this thing, even though she "hated touchscreen phones" (mostly due to her experiences a long time ago with the Motorola Backflip, and the HTC Pure ... I don't blame her). She loves the Note2 because of the huge screen and low DPI (yet the picture is very clear and sharp at 720p) - excellent for texting and navigating around. She has no problems with a touchscreen now! Oh, and the camera is pretty good on the Note2 as well, with a snappy shutter time and extras like slo-mo video and such.
When she saw my S4, she was actually somewhat jealous! We've been comparing the devices side-by-side for a couple weeks now, and we've determined that the S4 is overall a much better phone. The primary exclusion to this statement is that the Note2 has the S-Pen, which is a really, really nice feature - for those who really use it. She uses it rarely to doodle or take some notes when she doesn't feel like dealing with the onscreen keyboard, so it would not be a huge loss for her if it were gone.
The sacrifice of .5in of diagonal screen space is noticeable by comparison, but the 5" screen the S4 has will still outshine nearly any other smartphone - especially at 1080p.
Lastly, I will comment on the covers. We purchased the official Samsung flip cover for her device, primarily because it was too difficult to find a third-party cheap-knockoff that actually included the NFC antenna. They exist now, but they were hard to come by when we were shopping. At least the S4 doesn't include the NFC antenna as part of the battery cover. >_<
I purchased the S-View cover at the nearest corporate AT&T store (30mi away or so in the next town) because I wanted it on Day-One (I had my phone on Day-Negative-One, and I was eager to buy the silly cover). After shelling out $60, I drove home with the shiny S-View cover, and I once again made my wife jealous. While she'll admit that the S-View window is a tad gimmicky, she both finds it "really cool!" and actually kinda useful for every-day use.
So, just as burhanistan stated: if you have a great need for the awesome S-Pen that the Note2 provides, buy it. Otherwise, the S4 certainly competes to be the best phone ever created to-date (IMHO).

She has been reading this thread at work, the pen she said is a plus, I think I got her leaning toward the G4, you guys are helping a bunch. I like the idea of the earlier reply, sell the G4 if she is not happy, get her the note 2 and save some $$$.
Or just keep it, and pass it on to some devs to help out with the rom progress, that would be my contribution to the cause.
This seriously is helping, cause she is seeing it from other people who have the phone and have been using it already.

I had both but returned my S4 & switched back to my GN2 since I'm changing carriers. At first it was hard to get use to since I was so use to the GN2.
I rarely use the spen but the big screen & not having to charge every night with the GN2 is awesome.
I was getting about 20-22hrs w/ 5-7hrs screen time with my S4.
I do admit being able to use the phone with one hand is cool but typing was a little awkward since I'm so use to typing with 2 hands on my GN2.
Now that I'm back to my GN2, I'm not sure if I want to get the S4 when the 32gb for TMO comes out but knowing my habit of always wanting the latest gadgets, I'll probably do get it. Lol.

Here' my experience with the S-View cover:
If you do not have a password/pattern/number lock on your lock screen (simply set to swipe-to-unlock), just opening the S-View cover will turn on and unlock the device. You open it, and it's ready-to-use immediately.
Closing the lid will lock the device for the most part, and for the next 10 seconds or so, it will show the time and notification icons (and battery/signal/etc) through the little window. After 10 seconds, the device shuts off. You can power it back on like this with the power button, but it doesn't unlock it until you open it again.
The window itself appears to be made of glass. It's fairly nice - I was half expecting it to be crappy plastic. If it's not glass, it's really nice plastic.
You can answer or decline incoming calls through the glass when it rings with a swipe of a little round icon one way or the other. Pretty neat, but if you have the touch sensitivity all the way down, you might have a slight trouble using this feature. I haven't tried it since the OTA update, so they may have improved that!
You can hang up an existing call in a similar fashion.
The flip cover itself needs some time to "break in". When you first put it on, it will not lay flat onto the glass of your phone without some convincing, or being held in place by your pocket. After enough use, or a day or two, it gets much better. Don't think the cover is defective from this, it's just too tight in the "hinge" at first, but will loosen up with use.
Occasionally, if I have the cover flipped backwards for long periods, it somewhat emulates the same effect as the above point. It will shy away from the screen for a brief while, and then return to normal. I suspect after several more weeks, this will go away entirely at this rate.
One thing that I really do like about this cover: Because it replaces the battery cover of your phone, it adds virtually no bulk to the phone. It is very slightly thicker, and I can tell you that I appreciate it for one reason: The normal battery cover is inset, such that the camera lens sticks out the furthest, and when placing the device on a flat surface, it rests on the edge of the camera lens. On the S-View flip cover, the new back sticks out just a hair past the camera lens, so it no longer rests on the camera anymore. I take a lot of pictures, so I like to keep my camera lens immaculate.
The glass window will get rather dirty, especially if you shove the phone against a greasy head. Not a big deal, just use a microfiber cloth once in a while and some screen cleaner to get it shiny again.
The normal covers have no window, and so when you open it all the way (flipped around backwards), you can't use the rear-facing camera! With the S-View cover, it lines up such that you can use the camera straight through the glass on the cover. A nice touch, really. Because I take a lot of close-up shots and other detailed pictures, I choose not to flip the cover all the way around, because sometimes the window is dirty. So I just flip it downwards or whatnot.
The flip cover, even when purchased through AT&T, does not have AT&T's logo on the back, like the normal battery cover. I like it that way better. Even better: the front shows "Galaxy S4" near the bottom, and makes it a lot easier to show that you have a really, really cool phone.
I hope this all helps if debating whether to drop $60 on the S-View cover or not. Generics are starting to become available, but I don't know anything about the quality, etc.

I didn't mention battery at all, but you bring up a point. The Note2 has excellent battery life, there's no doubt about that. The S4 has "good" battery life in my experience, especially coming from the S2. People are saying that battery life has improved with the OTA update recently, but I haven't had a good chance to test that out. Freezing bloatware has really been a big help to increasing the battery life, regardless.
My S4 easily lasts the day, and can last two days with moderate/intermittent usage. I think the OTA update may have improved the battery life significantly, but I will have to test this out over the next couple days. Also, keeping it on Wi-Fi where available seems to be the best way to conserve battery life in my area.

Went from the note 2 to s4 pre update, ui fluidity was the only issue. I addressed it with nova launcher and the options in the developers setting, which made the ui very fast. Update addresses that issue and everything else on the s4 is better and my battery life is very comparable. I get 20+ hours with 4+ hours of screen time easily and I'm sure it will increase with roms and kernels.

Thanks, I needed this one....

I had the Note 2 for a week before I traded it for the S4. They are both awesome devices, but imo the S4 was the right choice for me. Much easier to carry it in your pocket. Battery life not as good, but that was expected. Cant go wrong either way. Go to the store and play with them both.

She made a wise choice, I have a Note 2 and would gladly trade it for a S4. I don't even use my Spen, I got it last September because it had the best guts and it's a Samsung. Never buy a HTC. PITA software and very unforgiving. Buy Sammy, Odin is your friend. Enjoy your S4's!

I had a htc hd2...it was a nightmare..to flash roms...a win phone..dual boot crap..rock solid...hard to deal with...hehe i ask her..how much are you really use that pen..also the res on the s4 was SWEET...they had the perfect wallpaper on that demo...i showed her she said ok. so when she gets that new rom on it...she won't even mention the note. its on now.
as far as the G3...i love the damn thing..my son is keeping his...so i will be hanging around here for awhile still...sold 2 keeping 1...

Anyone else having trouble deciding?

I'm having a hard time deciding what my next phone will be. I'm stuck between the Xperia Z1 and the Note 3. I really like how big the note 3 is but at the same time the camera and waterproofing in the xperia is very attractive. How are you guys coping with this decision?

Same here. I really wanted a waterproof phone. Maybe they will have an Active version without watering down the specs.

Can you explain to me why that's important to you? Waterproofing that is? Have you had problems with getting your phone wet in the past? What appeals to you in that you will pass on a phone that's not waterproof? Just wondering...

Yeah no problem, there's quite a few reasons why waterproof seems attractive to me. I live in Fl and i often have to contend with rain/sweat. I ride a motorcycle and run outdoors on the regular. I guess all that boils down to peace of mind (i damaged a S2 canoeing and got caught in the rain a few times with the Note II no damage though thankfully). Also i think it'd be pretty cool to grab some pictures under water of course.
Problem is, if i'd never owned the note 2 i would have hopped on the z1 no problem. But i really liked its large screen. I have big ol hands (the note 2 almost looks normal when i'm holding it). Also the large screen is very easy on the eyes. I also regularly used the stylus.. . Wish i could buy them both.

Im torn between Z-ultra and Note-3. Leaning towards the Z-U... becuase of the screen size. We'll see, i have to see them in person 1st...

Only trouble I'm having is deciding which variant to go for 3G or LTE, which is going to see the most community input, what's the battery life between the two etc....

Even if they made a waterproof N3, is the SPen waterproof as well? And, no, I'm not about to go test mine.

If the z1 comes to att I'll probably go with that just bc I haven't had a Sony and two the specs and looks are love

haha i doubt the s pen is waterproof. You could probably dunk it a bunch and it will work for a while but it does have some metal parts inside that would suffer some oxidation in the long term.

Thats a good point, I think i read somewhere that the s800 has more processing power and less battery drain. I can't cite that though. Someone chime in if they know? I think i would get the lte one even if battery life was a smidge shorter.

I have not had a sony either. My recent experience with a lumia 1020 have made me really appreciate good cameras on phones though. The z1 seems like the ultimate compromise of features. idk though...

I know 100% that the Note 3 is the phone for me because a) The specs are monstrous and b) it's the only viable option for someone who wants to use a stylus seriously (In the immediate future / present market). I'm using a capacitive stylus on the (2012) Nexus 7 and it just doesn't cut it. The new Note 3 is going to allow me to ditch my Epic 4G Touch and Nexus 7 in one fell swoop while increasing my productivity
No other phone comes close in my search - although I LOVE stock android so I'm quite tempted by the prospect of a new Nexus phone, but I'd rather have the epic stylus functionality.
My only debate right now is which carrier to go with - The Sprint voice/data networks have been garbage for me over the last 2 years here in Colorado. (I'm debating between Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T - Verizon is prohibitively expensive)

But what's hard to leave camera aspect and unlocked bootloader is the HTC one for them having super low light sensor plus HTC giving u access to unlock bootloader something that's gonna be a tough cookie on all new phones that's out and will come out for att except HTC almost why I kinda wanna go HTC one max but still idk. Plus I wanna get a phone with a good dev community so I can build for it. So idk what to get. G2, Z1, N3, 1Max, MotoX. I'm just bored with my black 64 gb HTC one I need something new to play with

No, no trouble deciding. After using the (original) Note for the past two years, there was no question that my next phone would be a similar size. I find it to be as large as possible w/o being too difficult to handle or fit in my pocket. I think the Mega would be too big (not to mention it's inferior specs). Personally, I would be surprised if they introduced an "Active" version. Not just because of the s-pen itself, but because of the hole the s-pen fits into. It's just another possible water entry point that would have to be addressed. Besides, the note is marketed as more of a business device vs. the S4. It doesn't seem like there would be as large of a market for a waterproofed Note vs. S4. FWIW, I ride a motorcycle too. Although I'm more of a fair weather rider, I have gotten drenched on several occasions, and it's never been an issue for my current Note. The phone does get wet while in my pocket in a storm, but it's not really the same as getting submerged.

Yes to the screen size. I feel like you nailed that subject. Its just the right size. I also doubt they will release an active version of the note 3. Not because of the pen silo though, where the silo fits the pen doesn't have to interact with any electronics, therefor the silo could be part of a unibody shell without having to introduce any seams into the design.There are plenty of other reasons why making an active version of the note would be challenging though...
For me i think its going to come down to who offers me the best price/package. Z1 or Note 3. I'm looking to purchase outright full price on att lte network and i'm getting antsy. I don't want to wait too long. I think the longest i'd be willing to wait is until nexus 5 reviews come out.

On the topic of waterproof of the xperia. Even though it's a great function and I was very tempted with it on the ultra z.
There was a YouTube video I have seen last night about how the screen of ultra z would not response if it's fully immerse in the water. Somehow the water makes the screen unresponsive. I'm not too sure if it's the same with z1 though.
It might also be a pain to constantly making sure there's no dust building up around and under the flaps so to keep the waterproof function working 100%

Valid points, i saw that video too. I wonder how they advertise it taking pictures under water... I bet they only use the physical camera button. Cant wait for more reviews on all these phones.

Assuming you are buying for the use in the US (snapdragon processor), the phone is tri-band, it supports both GSM and LTE.

My note 1 made it all the way through my rafting trip (I was tracking our 5 day trip with gps). Then I got home and was pre-soaking my pants prior to washing them and it was in the pocket. It was a sad day. I've had to use my gs2 for about a month while waiting for the note 3.
And yes, the spen still work. I tried it on my note 10.1.

Yep my choice as well. I am not so certain on the Note 3 size though & the Z1's camera is a very big plus point for it.

Ok, forum filled with complaints, this one just for what you really like

1. Turbo charger is insane
2. The screen is gorgeous
3. The battery will make a full day of work with heavy duty usage
4. Love the Moto voice
5. No Verizon logos
6. Love the looks, and the nylon back is awesome
7. I do believe the size is the sweet spot, my note's great for use, but not do much carrying it around, this beast is big enough even for my old eyes and disappears in your pocket

It's very early in the turbo's life, yes I think a few things needs fixed, and I believe they will in time, reading these threads make it seem like a disaster of a phone, I'm saying there's more to love then hate.

I use the phone for work and as a personal phone. The biggest thing for me getting the phone was the battery. I bought it yesterday so, I have only charged it once. When I snagged it at 7am this morning, I played Clash of Clans, checked my email, the weather ans played Spades. Bout 30 minutes. I then talked throughout the day for around 5 hours of talk time. Played COC a few more times for a couple minutes, checked emails, had google find me a FedEx box and navigate me to it and a few other random things. As I am right now, the battery is at 53%. THAT IS EFFING RETARDED!! I came from an S3. I had to charge it twice daily just to be able to make it home from work without it dying. I felt like that commercial against Apple where everyones at the airport hugging a wall. I was that guy..lol Ever gone to a college basketball game and found yourself next to the mens room charging your phone so you have enough juice to make a call on the way home in case of emergency?
I can hammer this phone with everything I got and it's going to make it through the day. I could ask for nothing more. Add in a 15 minute charge can get me 8 hours... wow.
Screen size is perfect, fabric back is cool and in a month or two I will have Lollipop and my Data and Voice at the same time back with VoLTE. I'm good to go.

Its basically the sexiest phone ever.

This phone pretty much changed my life! Once I left the Verizon store and waddled over to Walmart, the chicks took notice immediately! The chicks noticed the tier 1 Kevlar on this phone so they immediately assumed I was a millionaire and asked to borrow money for something called meth?!? No way was I gonna give them money for whatever that stuff is cause they clearly needed soap way more. Once I gave them girls some soap money they drove off in their rascals into the night and that's when it happened, I caught a whiff of pall malls and mountain dew and from out of nowhere comes my dreamgirl! The sweatpants and flip flops she was wearing were just like the ones she was wearing in my dreams! Once we finished up our mickey D $1 doubles we shared a smoke and went back to my trailer and made sweet love. Thank you droid turbo!

What I like
No Verizon logos anywhere. Welcome change from my DROID DNA
Went from 2020 mAh to 3900 mAh. Battery is insane from what I'm used to
Build quality is great. My DNA creaked and flexed. The Turbo is rock solid
Moto Display is pretty cool and useful
Nearly stock Android is a huge plus
Much faster than my DNA. No stutters or lag
Charging is extremely fast and not needed often
There's plenty more but these are the most important to me.

The complaints I see, seem like they are coming from people who did not do their research, or otherwise cannot appreciate how awesome simple, stock Android is. But I agree with all of the above. Its a great phone.

I like that my wife doesn't complain about her phone anymore and tells me she's happy instead!

Just got mine at 4 this afternoon and setting up. Was really scared when I started reading all the posts about problems from Saturday to today, but coming from a DNA to this I can't seem to wipe the smile from my face.
All I can say is thank you Motorola for this great device.

My only complaint is the usb cable that came with it is too short.. But I like how it's got an indent so you can feel if you're plugging it in correctly in dark.
Coming from Samsung. I've got used to the left side back button. Wish I had a close all apps option.. Otherwise I love this effin phone....

Was a Motorola fan for years then switched to Samsung. There is something about Motorola that I love and the turbo is a wet dream come true!!!

Haha.. I'm adapting quick.. I was unrooting my s3 and kept hitting the menu button..

Well its good to see this thread. I was going to not buy this phone because of all the complaints. And I was going to get the nexus 6. But I have no clue when the nexus is coming out. Maybe I'll give this a try and if I don't like with within the 14 days I'll get the nexus if it's available or the note 4.

So I hit a little buyers remorse over the past day or two. I even tried to switch out for the Note 4, but it would cost me around $100 extra due to restocking fees and activation fees and blah blah. Maybe this will help.
The battery has been good. One charge a day keeps it going, and the turbo charge is spectacular. I'm coming from a SGS3 with a ZeroLemon 7000mAh battery, so I have to keep reminding myself that the battery life just wont compare.
The screen is beautiful, even if it is over saturated.
Ballistic Nylon FTW. Never had a phone where I don't immediately want to slap a case on it, although in my profession, it really really needs one.
Replacement screen is something every company should offer at least one time. I still hate microscratches, but it definitely gives me piece of mind that I don't have to run out and get a screen protector.
The camera is at least an upgrade.
Capacative buttons aren't really all that bad.
I made-do with a 32 gig micro sd card in my S3 for two years, so I guess I don't need expandable storage.
It really likes to go fast.

Lolz. Every forum on XDA fills up with complaints. The people who are enjoying their phones, which are usually the majority, are out doing other things. This is normal - I've been on here since 2006 and its always been like that. Squeaky wheel...

Coming from a GS4 which I never really liked. I was missing my Galaxy Nexus goodness! I think the Turbo will serve me for quite a while as long as we get the bootloader unlocked.

I love this phone. I have had zero issues with it so far. Coming from an S4 this thing is amazing. Still learning stuff about it

I was so happy when Cyanogenmod made on screen navigation buttons with the correct android layout an option. I can't stand that Samsung has switched them around from what Google intended. So in all, this has been an easier transition for me than most Samsung owners.

Also, note that the return/redesign period for the Moto Maker Moto X Pure Edition is extended for 30 days from shipped date. (Originally, it was only 14 days , and 30 days were only for CA residents.)

I plane to exchange to for a dark wood back. I like it so far faster and battery life is about the same as my Note 2.

At this point I plan on keeping it. Pretty sure it's going to be like a Nexus phone with a memory card slot. I just came from the Verizon G4, and while I really liked it, there is absolutely NO development.

Definitely a keeper. Has everything I need: close to vanilla Android, free from carrier bloat, native wifi-tether, etc. Don't think there's any competition at this price point.
Only weakness is the battery life, but it's still slightly better than the HTC m7 I'm coming from. Just wish Google would get their head out of their asses and fix the damn Google Play battery drain..

So far I love it, I wouldn't mind a wood back but I'd be concerned it would make it more slippery

Keeping. The only 'negative', if you can call it that, is that the battery is 'only' 4 hours SoT. But the turbo charger is insane (over 2% per minute), I'm not even worried about battery life.

I'm returning mine. It was between the XPE and a Note 5 for me. The Note 5 wins by a mile. (for my needs). However I will buy another XPE in the future to have as my side b*tch. I'll wait for a black Friday sale and get a wood back next time. I had gone with the plastic back with the intention of using skins. Not with that texture.

Little torn right now. I like the size and build more than my Nexus 6, but doesn't seem like much of an upgrade, more of a side grade. The deal breaker for the xpe may be lack of wifi calling on t-mobile, something I use in the basement of my house.

Out of curiosity how is screen brightness. I need a super bright screen because I'm outside a lot. I love the brightness of the note 5 and the nexus 6 once rooted has a super bright mode.

So far, I really really dig this thing. I can't come up with a single complaint other than the lack of fingerprint reader.
My index finger just graviates to that Moto dimple, and to be completely honest, it's making me reconsider if I want to switch it out for a N5 2015. With Android Pay around the corner, and it's integration into Marshmallow with the API, I see fingerprint reader's really becoming a core aspect of the phone. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows. But that dimple just makes me wish it were a fingerprint reader.
In all reality, I'll probably keep it due to SD slot, larger screen, etc. But god dammit.

I have heard that the AMOLED screens on the N6 and Note 5 will be brighter, but I've also heard no complaints on just how bright the XPE is. I'm sure it would suit you needs. I'm also outside a lot for work, so I'm interested in this question as well.

Just curious, what does the Note 5 have that the Moto doesn't? Which part(s) is dissuading you the most from keeping the X? I'm guess the stylus and split-screen?

You can do the same thing with a PIN, though, right? With Android Pay, I don't think you need a fingerprint scanner. You actually have a backup PIN in case the fingerprint reader fails for some reason.

Yeah I guess you're right. Besides, I'd lose out on all the Moto features, and that's even before considering how hard it is to snag a Nexus in the first month of launch.

I'm not trying to be a Debbie downer, but.you opinion is fine. But finding tap and pay terminals is becoming more forgiven. Every place that upgraded for the chip debit/credit cards all have had no tap and go in my experience

The brightness and clarity of this screen blows my rooted Nexus 6 out of the water. Can't speak for the Note 5 though.

im coming from a LG G Flex, have had it for a year and was feeling the itch to get a new phone. Got my Pure(White/Bamboo) on Thursday and i can notice the screen quality is a lot better,build quality feels premium, no lag. The battery life isnt a step up, the Flex has a 3500mah battery. The Turbo charging is amazing though, it charges up so fast. The back does get warm when browsing through apps for a while and the whites on the screen seem to be warmer compared to S6. I miss the double tap to wake and the even bigger screen on my Flex but no way im going back. Definitely a keeper, i feel like its the best phone for the money out right now and i will definately recommend it.

Definitely keeping everything is great. Speakers, screen, size, feel, look and the list goes on... Night and day over my nexus. Let's just hope the development community takes off

gonna be exchanging it. the royal blue in the motomaker doesn't look anything like i've seen in reviews if it had i would have gotten it to start with

Coming from a Nexus 6. Exchanging mine due to a couple of what seems like defective issue: gets warm, banding and flickering on screen, chrome web browsing stutters (not sure if relation to heat issues). It is somewhat upsetting to receive a broken phone but hopefully the replacement works 100%.
