[Q] Help me!! Problem restoring backup of encrypted phone - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I'm stuck, at a loss here...
I have a galaxy S4 GT-i9500 and am now stuck unable to boot up through my encrypted phone password. Here's what happened in choronological order:
Encrypted the phone (My unlock PIN = "0000")
Installed cofface cwm recovery
Rooted the phone with cwm superSU v0.99
Backed up with external SD
Flashed pacman i9500 4.3
Rebooted and... it said something along the lines of "encrypted phone, needs to be reset" and it wouldn't start up, it only gave me the option of "reset phone" and it would just reboot it.
So I decided to attempt to restore my backup. It said "wrong MD5" so I took out the sd card, popped it into my computer, and was told to just have a blank nandroid.md5 file in the backup and it should work. It did.
So my backup restore is totally successful, but now when I turn on the phone and have to enter the PIN, my PIN is WRONG! I can't get into the phone now because the PIN doesn't work.
I really don't care about my backup datafiles, I don't care if the phone is encrypted, I just want a working phone again with whatever ROM is available. Can anyone shed some light on my situation? I really don't want to drop another $600 for a new phone.
Thanks

[Solved] PIN screen lock disappeared after changing CSC

Hello all
First of all thanks for all the excellent work.
I posted this in another thread which I probably shouldn't have done in the first place, I did find a solution to my problem and I thought I would share it here.
I went (the Odin way) from laggy 2.2.1 to battery hungry 2.3.3 then to 2.3.6 which works very well.
I then installed the CWM root + recovery kernel by Chainfire.
However I then realised my phone was in KOR CSC.
After resetting it to XEU (using the USSD code method) the PIN lock screen disappeared completely and even if I set a new code the phone would never ask for it! The same applied to Password Lock.
(Pattern Lock worked but somehow it feels unsafer to me (even if I know that by deleting password.key anyone can gain access anyway).
I tried restoring from a previous Clockworkmod backup which had been made whilst PIN lock screen was functional, but it didn't work.
I then tried wiping the phone (except for internal SD) using CWM Recovery and then restoring from the CWM backup. It didn't work either - PIN lock screen was still not working.
Problem seemed to lie in the fact that I installed CWM (together with rooted kernel) *before* changing CSC from KOR to XEU.
When the stock recovery tried to wipe the phone, it failed.
I think that's what messed up the phone when it comes to the PIN lock screen.
So making sure that I had already a copy of the /efs folder safely stored in the internal SD and somewhere else, I overwrote /efs with the backup copy I had, and the phone went back to KOR CSC... plus a fully functional PIN lock screen!
Unsure as to how to proceed, but feeling safe now I had (more or less) safely tinkered around with /efs, I finally decided to delete the /efs folder and then change CSC.
The phone rebooted into stock recovery, tried to wipe memory and it failed, then rebooted, and voila, a new /efs folder had been created, albeit with a "generic" (and probably unusable) IMEI! Everything was working though, including the cellular data connection (I didn't check whether it was able to transfer any data but the icon and light up arrows did show up). And PIN lock screen was functional too.
I then replaced /efs with my backup copy (with ES File Explorer, rooted) and rebooted the phone.
My beloved phone then went back to my good old IMEI, kept the new CSC (CPW in this case, which is UK as well so it suits me) and PIN lock screen functionality!
So 'next time' I would follow the procedure below:
1. Flash 2.3.6 ROM
2. Change KOR CSC to XEU (or CPW for Carphone Warehouse) using USSD code command
3. Phone will restart and should wipe memory fully with its stock recovery.
4. Only then flash Chainfire kernel ROM which roots 2.3.6 and installs CWM Recovery.
I hope I haven't made any big mistakes along the way and that this humble contribution can help someone, other people's contributions have helped me a lot.
Cheers

[Q] My NOTE 3 does not sign in

Hello.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 LTE and rooted it. I saw a thread how to get the Galaxy S5 Settings list view. I downloaded the SecSettings.apk for the Galaxy Note 3. I installed it into system/priv-app and gave it the correct properties. Then I deleted the old SecSystem.apk and odex and rebooted my phone. Just so that you know, I have a handwriting protection for security which was preinstalled from Samsung. After turning it on again everything looked normal. As I am about to sign in with my handwriting My Phone does not log in. If i try to put in the pin, no keyboard pops up to put it in. Only Google speach recognition opens and it loads and loads and loads. I can not use my phone to change anything, because I can not log in. My phone is not turned in to debugging mode and first it says settings stopped and then it says android.phone stopped and then it says systemui.xxxx stopped. For a second i can then see my homescreen. Then it locks again. I have important pictures I dont want to loose. How can I save them before flashing my phone with odin and wiping everything? What can I do(anything)? Can I put a new rom on there without loosing any data or how do the tools work on kies. My phone is locked and i wont be able to unlock it. Reasons are given. I am about to cry. I dont have enough money to buy another one and I dont want to loose my pictures. PLEASE HELP. URGENT
PS: Ask me any question if it helps you to solve my problem
Flash offical firmware. It will not wipe internal memory unless it stuck at samsung boot logo where you need to do factory reset from recovery. Or flash a custom rom

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime IMEI null with no EFS backup

Hi Guys
This is my first post on xda even after using these forums for years. But today I cant find a solution on here or anywhere for that fact, and was literally hoping that I've missed something somewhere.
So to start. I have a Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime (SM-G570F). The other day I was flashing a custom rom when something went wrong during the flashing process and left me with a bricked device. Now I did do a full backup before flashing as I've learned the hard way how important this is. During the flashing it also asked me for a full wipe and to backup the EFS. Even though I did do all the backups and wiped everything< I've ticked both boxes and proceeded with the installation. Everything seemed fine but on 99.9% it froze. Not wanting to do anything I left it until it rebooted the phone by itself, where I was greeted with the download/flash screen. Didn't even give the warning about installing custom software and asked to continue. It just booted straight to the download screen. Tried getting back into recovery only to be greeted with download screen. No matter what I did it just kept booting into download mode. So I then re-flashed TWRP. Getting into the recovery I was able to mount EFS, System, Data, etc. Bu all showed 0mb of 0mb available. I then went to restore everything only to find that the SD Card was also wiped by the process. Thinking that maybe the recovery isn't reading everything correctly, I found the SD Card empty in windows also. No call me names or whatever, (I know my own stupidity) but I never backed up my backups on my PC. So I just proceeded flashing stock firmware as to start from scratch. Everything went as planned until the device got reset by odin. I was greeted with a screen saying "installing system update", but as soon as it reach 32% it changes to "erasing" and then "error" with the "DRK Missing" error. Then it boots to recovery where an error message is saying "unable to mount: EFS (Device or Recourse busy). I cleared cache and did a factory reset and it booted the system (Though mount error still appears in recovery even in custom TWRP/CWM recoveries also). Now I have a 00000..... IMEI number and no network connection. I've spent the last week on the web trying to find a solution with no luck. I'm tired AF because I didn't sleep trying to solve this. I tried flashing stock and custom roms, recovery's, boot-loaders, modems. Tried different software's like Samsung Tool, IMEI repair tool, Strings of adb commands, xposed modules, apps, terminals, etc. I even flashed factory binaries with no luck as to how to change it back.
So in short.
My EFS got wiped.
I lost my IMEI.
I don't have any backups.
Been awake for a week searching for solutions with no luck.
So please if anyone knows of a way to change the IMEI, please help me. I know It's illegal to change IMEI (though not in my country). But I down't want to change it for all the wrong reasons. I just want to change it back to the original found on the back of the phone and on the box. This can't do any harm can it? Please I just want my phone back please!

If this problem is still open, then on Your Phone box is writen imei, or take battery out and under serial number there will be your imei, root your device and use IMEI changer grant root access and type your imei in it, after that reboot and your imei should pop up! I had same issue and this steps made my day! THIS WORKS ONLY ON YOUR IMEI, YOU CAN'T CRACK, STEAL IMEI By this method, don't believe those Dumb ****'s from YouTube!
May I help You!

SIM Card not usable after flash

Hello Community! I hope I am right here, otherwise please just move this thread to where it belongs to, thanks!
I have a serious problem with my sgs 8 (950F). I flashed newest twrp, magisk, renovate-ice-g95x-r164 and no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1. Everything worked fine and like a charme. I decided to update to a nightly version (worst decision ever) and before i was able to flash, twrp said: zip file corrupted. So I decided to go back to version 164 via the full backup i´ve made in twrp before. After the restore-process was finished, the device didn´t recognize the sim card anymore. So I tried to go back to stock firmware, which did not work since (after odin says pass) the firmware always stops at 32% and erases everything but the download mode on my phone. So I flashed twrp again, made a full wipe und data format and installed the renovate ice 164 again. After the boot, the sim card is detected and I also have to unlock it with the pin code. The problem is, that i can´t enter the network (Austria/Telering) and also I can´t search for any networks with my sim card, only emergency call is available. I am desperately looking for a solution to solve that problem and since I am no expert when it comes to details in flashing and the connections between hardware and software, i really could need help from experts. My guess is, that something is wrong with the modem. Can this be solved by flashing the mode new via odin? Stock firmware is not able to be flashed on my device, because of the error I mentioned above.
Thanks for you help and time!

Xiaomi Mi 9T stuck in setup because of no internet connection

Hello everybody!
I've got a Xiaomi Mi 9T (Global Version) and I flashed it with RevOS. After that, the device failed the safetynet check so I decided to flash the original rom. Now the device didn't do anything, I wasn't able to power the device on, take it in recovery mode or fastboot mode. I paid someone to flash the device in EDL Mode, the device turned on but it stuck in setup, because the Mi Cloud is active and asks me to enter my login information.
So far, there's no problem, but the device isn't able to validate the login because it has no connection to the internet. It doesn't recognize my SIM card and Wifi won't turn on. I can tap the toggle, then it says 'Wifi turning on' but then it switches back to off.
Has anyone any idea what's the problem? Maybe my IMEI is broken (efs erased?)? I only have a TWRP Backup. Already tried to restore it, but after that, the system is stuck on a bootloop.
Thank you!
Try after you restore twrp backup to do format data in twrp. And then reboot phone...

I am facing the same thing man, I'm just waiting for android 10 to release so that I can flash it clean. I can't do it now cause I flashed an android 10 weekly beta and my device is now in an "Anti-Rollback" situation. It's over a month now, and I'm using my phone without any Wi-Fi

My problem is, that even SIM Card isn't available. There's no chance to set up the device, so I'm stuck with a non-usable phone. The only thing I can do is calling emergency numbers...
My first thought was, that I broke the efs partition so there's no IMEI Number. But then I came across some threads saying that if this would be the reason, the phone would show a message saying "IMEI not found" or something.
I'm absolutely out of ideas... hope anyone here can help me...
