Counter can't be determined - triangle away

I can't see my flash counter anymore. Is it because the bootloader is locked in MF9?
It really doesn't matter to me but I was just wondering

Triangle Away isn't working on the MF9 update yet. I am sure it will get fixed in the next update.

Is there a way to know when the new Triangle Away is released? I have MF9 and want to root it, but concerned about the counter, should I need service?

This message brought to you in part by Sprint and the letters GS and the number 4
Yeah, triangle away isn't compatible at this time and very possibly won't be in the future. I was looking online fir the USB jigs, but none of them say Galaxy s4. I would think they would all be the same, but I don't know. Anyone with that info??

All I know is the MF9 firmware is a pain in my a$$ to get rid of once its installed.
Maybe that's why it's "MF"9? Mine was MF9 when I got it, so I don't know what the prior release was like.

Why is OTA such a big deal when we have odin?

I am new to the whole odin stuff, i've been a user of an HTC Desire HD smartphone and the past month i've been using an i9500 gs4, i was wondering why is it such a big deal to have official status and ota updates when you can do everything manually and through odin, yeah one reason is the warranty but damn it is such a hussle to restore the official status for me because triangle away is not working for my device i have managed to make the binary status to samsung official but the system status is still custom, anyway a discussion about this would be helpful

Rooting mja

Hello everyone and thanks for helping me out in my last post. OK so I wait and get my mja update, which by the way fixed all the bugs on the gs4. Now I am thinking I want to root but I can't find a guide online anywhere, a Lil help would be appreciated.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
You haven't searched or read much. You can use CF auto root.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
No I have done my research CF doesn't work with sprint gs4 Mja build
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
hm I did cf auto root, and it worked just fine for me.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
It made knox go 0x1 right?

The only way to root MJA is to use CF and trip the Knox counter.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
OK just a few more questions. So in the distant future will it be possible to turn knox back to 0x0 and unroot phone?

Maybe. But it doesn't matter. At this point in time, it has been confirmed that Sprint will not be denying service for devices with the Knox counter tripped.

Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Yep your right. Only thing I'm having trouble with now is where is my cwm to flash cyanogenmod.
I also have great news for all gs4 users who aren't rooted yet and running mja. I ran cf auto root on my pc with all anti-virus turned off and everything worked perfect, no SU or knox problems at. I was on sprint mja build.
Read up, make sure u have the right software and drivers and you should be fine.

From galaxys3man30:
Mr.kennyglass123 just got some confirmed info that sprint will repair/replace your phone with the knox counter set 0x1 so that's some positive news. I've have been able to successfully root and add a custom kernel to 4.3 without any issues and it's not as bad as it seems just people where making the mistake of trying to go back to a earlier update and with the new bootloader that just not possible right now. So, it's not that scary to do this update but I can understand where ur coming from thou buddy. I will be here to help you with it if you need me buddy I have successfully remove all of knox from the ota rom so far so it's that hard to get removed and such. Just trying to give some encouraging info buddy.

An important clarification, Sprint will do this! Samsung will NOT!!!! It is very important you understand the difference. If you are paying for Sprint TEP (Total Equipment Protection), Best Buy Protection, or even Square Trade Insurance then the Knox flag shouldn't be a problem. If you do not have any of the insurance packages and you are solely relying on the Samsung warranty for your phone than you should know that Samsung will reject any warranty claim if the Knox flag is tripped or they can tell that you rooted it. They will fix your phone for a fee.

Is there anyway to un-knox a phone?

Does anyone know if its possible to remove the knox bootloader from a phone that applied the update?
Why can't we just odin an older stock tar? Will that not work?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Not currently possible to rollback the bootloader, however there are a number of "un-knox'd" ROM's available.
You have some reading to do.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Would running an un knoxed rom trip the warranty fuse knox enables? Are there any aosp/cm un knoxed roms out that u know of?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
All aosp/cm roms are unknoxed. That has nothing to do with the bootloader. Once an S4 has been upgraded to MJA or newer software you have the knox enabled bootloader and the only way not to trip the knox warranty flag is not to root it. This flag is pretty useless and means nothing to most users. It has no affect on your phone usage or modding ability. All it does is let Samsung know that you rooted the phone if you send it in to them for warranty work. They may or may not choose to work on your phone under warranty. It doesn't affect your ability to go to Sprint and have them fix your phone. It only matters if you are going to ship your phone to Samsung to fix. If you have insurance (TEP), best buy, square trade, or any other program than you are good, Just use your damn phone and enjoy it!
Oh good to hear thanks

heres the update if you want to do it
but you cant go back to 4.3 and ive read 4.4.2 is a bit buggy
Maybe that's why they haven't rolled it out in other countries yet, I will probably just wait then because I use my note 3 as my daily driver so I'd rather it was 100%

same for me,only thing that don't work is sky sports mobile
there is no need to install a different bootloader
I chose the Spotify package and can confirm that it works fine. .when I first flashed I had a Samsung keyboard issue, but did a full factory reset and it's gone now..also rooted and cwm recovery installed with no issues..

I have a note 3 locked to 3 carrier..if I download the leaked update and flash it using Odin (my fone is not rooted) will it cause any problems?
Since my fone is carrier locked and 3 haven't pushed an update yet.
Thanks in advance
P.s I'm a total noon at flashing so sorry in advance for dumb questions.

I think it is not a 100% safe thing to try to update a carrier-locked Note3 - given that you also do not have a lot of experience I would suggest waiting a little more (and in the meantime reading in the many threads around and searching for somobody else with a carrier-locked Note 3 from the same 3 UK carrier).
You can get a free unlock code from three, got mine installed polish kit kat no problems.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Just to mention that some 3rd party apps still require updates from developers to work on 4.4 so if you don't mind waiting a month or two this should also give them time too.
So if I get it unlocked, then its OK to flash the official update?
Basically I just want yo know the effect of flashing an official ROM on a carrier locked fone.
Yeah I've been reading the threads so I know how to flash it using Odin.just wanted to know will it be OK or will my fone go KU-KU
Sorry if I'm eating your brains
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
You can flash even if it's network locked. It will stay network locked... But won't be a problem. You can also get your phone unlocked free from three.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
You will loose root unless you use mobile odin with the keep root feature, and boot into download, then flash the bootloader. I don't think there's a de la vega style root on 4.4.
