Hi all,
Is it possible too flash a custom recovery via goo manager in a stock root injected I-9500 ?
If yes then wouldn't we be able to flash roms without odin via the recovery and the flash counter would remain at zero ?
I am tempted to try this. But seems too simple for others not to have tried this before me.
Let me know if I am totally missing something and if some one has tried this before.

Not possible to install custom software on and from a not rooted S4 atm. Security has tightened since the S and S2.
I am rooted.

Then you allredy have the counter raised, 1 or 10 will not make a difference for warranty. That`s gone allready bro if they check that and unfortunately triangle Away doesn`t work yet for the I9500.
I have used this for root.

This doesnt effect flash counter.

Hey guys. I know 3 different methods of rooting i9505(motochoper, cf auto root and pre-rooted roms). But apparently all of them makes your phone turns to a custom status and showing a custom padlock on boot. Does anyone knows a root method that keeps the phone official? Cause I remember that on my old galaxy s2, I rooted my phone using a very simple method, flashing a temporary cwm from external SD card and flashing a busy box that gived me root. Anyone knows if is it possible on s4? Thanks guys

Hi,
Using these Pre-rooted ROMS , it keeps the phone "Official" as long as you do not install anything custom.

Thanks a lot. Do you know if using those pre rooted roms OTA updates still works? And if it is, update will unroot the device? Again, thank you so much

Hi,
Yes, you can still get OTA.
But I am not sure why you would do that when the [OP] will keep the ROMS up-to-date anyway.
And yes , you would lose root if you updated.
I have a rooted N900 running stock rom, I want to reflash the stock rom, the question is; do I have to unroot first? Or I can flash it right without unrooting
I'm not concerned about warranty and reseting flash binary, I just want to get a clean stock rom again

hello..
i got note 3 sm n9005 (uk model),i tried to root my phone odin says pass, but it wont go to recovery mode it restarts and stuck on screen saying recovery is not seandroid enforcing" in red and another in yellow saying" set warranty bit.it wont let me root my phone,,,pls help me with this
thanks
That means you have succesfully put a custom recovery on your phone via odin. Stock wont show anything, but anything other than stock, that will show. I can only assume your on JB(4.3) still and have flashed a recovery for KK(4.4)
Im from the uk too, using chenglus 11/21 recovery on my jb rom.

Make sure you are using the right cf auto root file. One is for 4.4 and the other is for 4.3.
edit: didn't read it completely, what did you use to root your phone?

I've never used cf auto root. To root my first rom ( stock rom) i just flashed a custom recovery, and then flashed a superuser zip inside cwm

Did that worked? As far as I know to flash a custom recovery you have to be rooted first.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
Yes works fine. Have done it a few times on the n9005, and many times on other devices. You don't even need a rom to flash a custom recovery, or stock recovery for that matter.

remember rooting with cf autoroot will trip ur knox counter to 0x1, meaning your warranty will be gone. use towelroot method instead.

Don't suggest towelroot if your not willing to test it yourself ? That's like asking someone to brick their phone intentionally ?
If you won't do it don't suggest someone to experiment for you

you should really get your facts straight before accusating someone of anything. i've just used towelroot on my i9500 and it worked like a charm, didnt even trip knox.

Well try updating the thread you opened asking if anyone had used it ?
XDA is a community & people share tips & results. If you updated your thread then you could maybe helping others ??
So in your reply "get your facts straight" I didn't have the facts to make a decision on Ok

you shouldnt be suggesting me not to use others phones as experiments if you never ever had the facts (as u stated in ur last post). But whatever, just use towelroot if you don feel like tripping knox. good luck !
Thanks for the reply guys.
My phone is not in warrenty period. Its finished just before 2 days. So I am thinking to root it. And if warranty doesn't matter it is ok to use CF Auto root? Please link me to the CF Auto root and compatible CWM recovery for S4 i9500.
And one more thing I don't know about 'towelroot'.
Thanks...

totally agree....the guy makes a thread asking if anyone's tried it, but said he didn't want to try it himself because he didn't want to risk doing it on his own phone.....then goes telling other people to use it?
U should visit chanfire post and u will be known everything about root.

Yes it's fine to use chainfires autoroot
Here's the link to cf autoroot for i9500-just follow his instructions
Also the link to philz recovery here
You just need to download the .tar file from him & flash it just like you did with autoroot in odin
Thanks bro...

You shouldn't run into any problems just flash with odin and once flash is complete do a nandroid backup before flashing a new custom rom

I tried on my gt-i9500 and it shows that my device is not supported!!
Please help me if there is something I missed as I am new to rooting.
What I understood is that towelroot will not void warranty so I am keen on it. Thank you
I have the att note 3 that was 4.4.2 and I am ready to sell it but my phone was rooted and I uninstalled some of the stock programs that came with it. I tried to flash what I thought was a stock rom through Odin but it failed and now I just see firmware encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies. When I go to kies it just tells me that I cannot recover the device. If anyone can help me that would be awesome and thanks in advance.

Root it and flash it again with odin
The phone doesn't even boy anymore and I'm pretty sure that you don't need to be rooted in order to flash with Odin. Also I don't want to just try and root and hope it works because as of now Knox is not tripped

You root one time and your Knox is modified even if you flash stock after...
Start again in dl mode and flash again but check md5 before
The method I used did not trip Knox see the picture. And I have used Odin before a lot of times before I have tried to reflash many times if you Google it you will see that a lot of people are having this issue but nothing has worked for me so far figured I'd ask here. It is also very hard to even find the att stock rom
