Prior to upgrading to ARHD 3.2.1, I could plug my Transformer into my PC and see it each time. However, after I flashed ARHD, it no longer shows up in My Computer. It does show up in Device Manager as Android ADB Interface. Any ideas out there? I have installed SDK Manager and installed ASUS Synch still not showing up.
Try going into settings -> storage -> the 3 dots in upper-right corner -> usb computer connection -> check media device(MTP).
If its checked already, check Camera(PTP), then recheck MTP.
If that doesnt help, try reinstalling the drivers.

Turn the unit off and go into your device manager and look for the yellow triangles in the usb driver section. Right click and uninstall. Restart your computer and when it is fully booted up, plug the your tablet in via USB and let the computer install the proper driver.
Also in the settings there is an option to switch from media to MTP. You will go into settings > click on storage > click on the three dots in the upper right hand corner of screen > click on "USB computer connection" > click on MTP.

I can't even get my laptop to recognize it at all. It'll charge, but nothing else works.
It seems that Android needs almost two resets to be recognised(it needs to arrange internally its drivers or the hardware). Every time I've changed the ROM, immediately it isn't seen by the PC host. And then I always fall into the mistake of installing "new" drivers. Suddenly, I don't know why, all starts to work fine, usually after resetting the kindle several times....
Oh pardon, I've not read it correctly. In CM 10, if you are already inside "Storage Device" you can see the simulated sdcard as a "0" directory.
I've redownloaded every driver, and my cp still says "Unknown Device". ADB and Fastboot do not recognize it. I have last nights nightly flashed in.
Any suggestions?

Hi, just a slight problem. I happen to select charge only for the USB connection and now I can't unselect it to transfer files. I checked online and see in storage in the overflow menu when I select it USB computer connection comes up put when I press it I just get a message "USB is now disconnected". Nothing else. How do I reselect MTP again?
Thanks,

Just go to Settings than select Developer Options, scroll down to find Select USB Configuration. It's a long page, so scroll down slowly and carefully.

My developer options doesn't have this setting. I'm not sure how to do a screen shot but under that section is:
On
Development tools
Take bug report
Advanced reboot
Desktop backup password
Stay awake
HDCP checking
Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log
Process stat
Root access
Updaye Cyanogen recovery.
Then it goes into Debugging.
Should I be looking somewhere else?
Thanks,
I have found that I can't enable Android Debugging which has the switch greyed out.
I see it says in the subheading "Device is in charging mode, USB debugging is disabled".
Maybe if I can enable the debugging somehow I can get the phone out of charge only mode.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
I have found its not actually greyed out. Just not responding to tapping.
Hi see this problem has been mentioned here:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...sb-debugging-after-upgrading-to-android-5-1-1.
'm trying to find "persist.sys.usb.config" to delete it as a fix but haven't found it yet.
Already tried that. Selecting 'USB Computer Connection' displaying message 'USB is now disconnected' (even when it's not connected to a cable)

Seems like you are using custom ROM, I'm on stock, nothing much I can do to help. Is the driver correctly installed? How did the Windows response to USB connection with USB debugging off? With the USB debugging on, it will ask for authorization when connected. I believe "persist.sys.usb.config" is part of build.prop, so it's kinda risky to play with, but if you manage to find that line (you may simply add # in front of it, just to be safe and in case you need it in the future).
Hi, thanks for your reply.
Windows shows nothing when I plug the phone in. It use to come up with the phone and SD card fine.
I'ts just that I can't turn debugging on. I'll have a look in build.prop and try the #
Thanks,
Any ideas where I put the #? I have attached the build.prop file.
Thanks,
Unable to transfer the data between computer to device.

And i have installed the required drivers on the windows.

You should enable Developer Options in settings and enable 'USB debugging' for that to happen.

Well
First you have to connect your device to pc and select the MTP option.
Then on your pc go to device manager and you will see unknown device option.
So right click on it and select update from the computer and select the directory
C:/program file (×86)/realtek/NICDRV_8169/
and down choose let me pick from a list ...
Option and select android then click on MTP usb driver and install.
That's it...
Thanks!! it worked well..!!

To solve mtp issue
Just make sure u are in none windows N version or ltsb
If u are in N version of Windows install Windows Media player
Package to add mtp protocol to windows
Maybe the media server service on your device is disabled
---------- Post added at 06:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:16 PM ----------

You don't need one
Your realtek driver in programfile 86 directory will do the job...
Comrades,
Just to clarify this is what worked for me - I pieced the info together from this thread...
http://en.miui.com/thread-858267-1-1.html
Several people hinted at the solution in the thread, but didn't specify exactly how to do it. Here is what worked for me - but this is Android and Windows so it could be some other random setting somewhere in your phone or PC.
I enabled developer options and debugging mode with the usual magic incantation.
I connected my phone and told Windows to open folder when it connects,
On the phone I pulled down the notification screen you will see at the bottom "Android System - USB charging device". You have to use your psychic powers to know that you need to tap this notification.
When you tap it you see "Tap for more options". so...tap for more options.
A new and magic dialogue box opens up that gives a bunch of options. Top of the list, and the default option is "Charge this device". But the second option - which was a winner for me - is "Transfer files". Tap that radio button (while whispering the word "abracadabra" under your breath) and there you go!!! The folder magically appears on my File Manager.
If you think of it like one of those 1980s text adventure games it's actually rather fun.
If you think of it any other way it's a freaking pain in the arse!!!
By the way, if it doesn't work you probably thought I was joking about whispering abracadabra...I wasn't!!
I assume this is a bug that you can't just tell the phone to default to file transfer???
Cheers,
SPuD
