Help please. I've got a custom kernel so have done a manual update to 4.3 but I keep getting a notification to do the OTA update. How do I stop this happening?
I could disable notifications for Google Services Info but that would hide notifications I'd probably want to see.
I could disable a system update app but there is no app matching that description in /system/app
Any clues gratefully received.
Thanks
Nick

It was actually Google play services I had to block notifications from, there is no system update in Apps>System update
I'm in the same situation but how do we actually install the 8mb update? Is there a flashable zip?
Also, are you sure you want to block all Google play services notifications?
Long press the notification. Press the "circle i" that pops up. Then Block All. Done.

The only reason I don't want to update is because I'm rooted and google play services notifications aren't important. So I blocked em all
After the latest update, I believe its the 3 or 4th on 5.1.1, When go through the usual Settings >> About Device >> Software Update, the settings app force closes with the message "Unfortunately Settings has stopped".
Now my questions are :
1) Will I still receive updates OTA (i.e. Marshmallow)?
2) Have a terminal app on my device, can I check for updates via that?
3) Can check for updates via ADB in Mac terminal?
4) Is it possible to force Smart Switch to check for update rather that have it as an automated check?
Sorry for all the questions.
Any/All help greatly appreciated
ok, a little update.. Im still having the same issue (very very frustrating).
So, I use Nova Launcher and had a dig through the Activities, specifically the Settings activities, I found only 1 pertaining to updates. SO I made a widget with this activities the result was an "access denied" message.
Please, I need to fix this.
issue has been solved by OTA update to 6.0.1.. can a Mod please close this thread. thanks
Hello,
At first, sorry for my english. It's terrible.
Now, I have small problem with notifications. After installing stock version of Marshmallow (574) my apps are not sending notifications. E-mail, SMS and dialer notifications are ok, but apps like Facebook Messenger or Snapchat have problem.
I have them in protected apps.
I have mobile data transfer and WiFi always turned on.
Apps have permissions to notifications.
Any ideas how to fix it? Phone without notifications is not a phone...

Go to Settings >> Notification Panel & Status Bar >>Notification Manager
Under there you must enable required apps notification..

No, it's not rooted.
I fixed it. My solution for someone who will have similar problem: downgrade to lollipop and update it one more time. Only this solved my problem.
Thanks a lot for activity in this thread!
Hi,
Before the oreo update is was possible to have badge notifications in the secure folder (Messenger, Snapchat) without showing a notification in de status bar. Since the update to Oreo this is not possible anymore... Any solutions?
Thx!

After Oreo update, notification panel and app badges are linked (thanks to Google).
So no, you will have either both or neither of them.
Edit: It might be Samsung's fault too, because, I think they removed the option for secured apps shortcut on homescreen as well.
Are there any alternatives for the secured folder?
My phone downloaded an auto update this morning which seems to be a security patch. After installing, every time an app is run with accessibility permissions or Device manager permission it continues to flash a yellow notification on the top reminding that it might not be safe and click to stop the permissions.
No matter how much I ignore it end up ending the service.
I really need device manager permission for my office email. Please help.
I've the same problem here too bro ...
Alnagar
same here i need a lot of apps that uses accessibility, any suggestion?
Downgrading The Stock ROM might help
