Latest YouTube app update fixes the "YouTube bug" - Galaxy Note II General

Haven't seen it mentioned yet so: I just got the latest YouTube app update (v. 5.0.21) and it fixes the bug we have had for some time where going to landscape and then back to portrait while watching a video there appears a small "gap" on the upper part of the video between the Youtube video control bar and the Android notification bar.
Frankly it never was a big deal to me, it was fairly trivial in fact, but some people seemed pretty upset about it..
Well, it's fixed and it seems like it wan't much of a Samsung's fault after all.
BTW, as my signature says, this on a: Galaxy Note II (N7100) - from Germany (DBT), carrier-free, titanium gray, 16 GB - stock JB XXDME6 + CF-Auto-Root

The lay out of the new version is great. It feels faster now. The videos are loading faster.

I'm loving the new design of the App!
Thanx to XDA i got it on my device before Google rolled it out to me.
[although it has now been rolled out to me officially also]
:good::good::good:

yes I know and improvements are great..google really listens to us thnxx google..

Am I the only one who doesn't have a video progress bar when in full-screen mode? Also a bit annoying that you can't see the name of the video while in full-screen mode.

Really cool how it keeps playing the video in the corner while you search for another video.

How do you like in full screen mode.?

Progress bar works as it has always worked, for me: tap and it appears.

I like A LOT more the controls and the way they are displayed now when you tap in full screen mode, they allow more of the video to still show through. Before, with the solid title bar and solid controls bar, too much was covered.
I don't need to see the name of the video when I am watching it full screen, I only need the progress bar and video controls. If I want to see the name of the video I can always simply rotate the screen without even needing to touch it.
Perfect.

For me, it still lacks the ability to reply to comments (and to set the font size for them) and the "already watched" label on videos like the web version.
The last small touches... it's already a top notch app anyway.

Yes, I have that problem too. No progress bar in landscape mode (running 4.1.1) .

finally

I'm using the new version and today I have experienced the bug. Just like with the old version, a gap has appeared at the top. It was the first time it has happened, so the new version is an improvement but it didn't completely solve the problem.
Happened again, you can see better with the side panel visible:

Open the Browser and type "about:debug". Click Go. (No page will load; that's normal.)
Open Settings, scroll down to UAString, and change it to Desktop.
Start playing your favorite video. Once the show starts, zoom in and press the full screen button.
Enjoy Hulu in full screen on your Android phone!
Nice! How do you guys come up with this stuff (figure these things out)?!?
Well yes, the guide works nicely (even though I knew it) but since Flash is simply beta, and isn't hardware accelerated - there really is no point in watching it currently.

Guess I should try it again, it wasn't quite well when I tried it earlier.
Audio comes in fine, video is more like a slideshow.
Ah Paul, you were correct - I wasn't giving it a chance long enough. At first, it starts out incredibly irritating, then a few minutes (or seconds more likely) later it becomes normally viewable.

It seemed to improve a bit when I went into my Hulu account settings and changed my resolution to the lowest (288p). Audio was out of sync for me even with this, though, on the one episode I tried.

That's what she said
I can play things, but I can't seen to get it to fullscreen.
double tapping causes the video to pause.
trying a long press shows me the various little options on the right side and bottom, one of which is the 'fullscreen' button that I can't seem to click.
Other than that it plays, jumpy at first but it smooths out.

Yeah there's no full screen (as there was in Flash Lite), it just "zooms" in so that it fits the screen (though it doesn't always work).
Adobe also changed it so holding your finger on the screen = mouseover now, rather than a click right when you first touch down.
got it! thanks.. works pretty well for now... fullscreen would be nice

Yep, if you double tap the Hulu video, it will only "center" it on the screen.
The Full Screen button on the Hulu Player works but it is VERY difficult to hit.
But I've figured out a "strategy" (haha):
- Scroll down the page so the video is no longer showing, and zoom in three times via the +/- buttons.
- Then scroll back up so the bottom right corner of the video shows.
- Tap on the video to get "into" the flash (so finger presses are registered in the video player).
- Then tap and hold on the video for mouseover, click on the full screen button, and voilà! FULL SCREEN HULU!
From this:
To this:
Is there a way to save these settings for individual sites (like just hulu)? or is this across the board for all sites?

change brightness

is there anyway to change brightness without minimizing application or going to setting menu or use widgets. Tab 2 has this cool notification bar from where you can do lots of things like changing turning off/on gps,wi-fi,sync, change volume and brightness (manually) or set auto. And it does it without interruption.. very useful! On Nexus 7 it's a whole different thing.. i use power toggles from playstore and it has that option to put the toggles in the notification bar.. it works but not the way i would like it to.. Like for example i'm watching youtube and i want to bump up the brightness i pull down notification bar select brightness slider and youtube stops the video.. now after i adjusted the brightness i have to click on play icon sometimes the video resumes sometimes it reloads or rebuffers.
You get the point.. Thanks!
Try Widgetsoid.
It might work better for you than power toggles

yeah i've tried it not exactly what i'm looking for.. I want application that would do it seamlessly without any interruption. Just like volume.. when press volume rocker the volume control pops out over playing video you can still use the rocker or you can slide the volume on screen while your video plays I want the same thing with the brightness ..
I just use Jkay's deluxe settings. It integrates the settings in the notifications panel

What you want is display brightness ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rubberbigpepper.DisplayBrightness&hl=en ). It makes swiping your notification bar adjust brightness. Go through the settings to get it like you want. Hope that helps.

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1148708 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31041722&postcount=2396
Found the right version #: 2.9.0.315

The portrait video chats are sort of strange using the Play Store version with Ultimate Rotation Control. The pane on the left takes lots of room, resulting in an image cropped on the left and right sides.

Yes, but see my most recent post. The portrait chat display is incredibly awkward. The sidebar results in cropping the left and right sides of the received image, resulting in a narrow video chat. I can't seem to find a way to hide the sidebar.

The app is not closing you just sent it to work in background . Just hold the home button and you'll see the app in recents view. And change the interval of screen timeout for at least 1 min.
About battery drain change the governor of the kernel.
Install from playstore Nofrills cpu to change the governor as conservative .
You'll not notice any lag in games or apps .

[APP][BROWSER] (For N5) Javelin Browser - AdBlock, KitKat transparency, Multi-Windows

Hello everyone, I'm the dev for Javelin Browser. Javelin was launched less than 2 months back. And now, I am putting extra effort in making it work perfect on the Nexus 5. I think, Javelin browser is the best browser for Nexus 5 over Chrome or any other browsers, for the following 3 reasons. A - MULTI-TASK truly with Javelin Stack. AKA Link-Bubble functionality. Javelin Stack allows you to Open links in other apps and view in without switching back and forth to the full browser. B - BLOCK annoying ads Native ad-block means faster load speeds, use less data. C - KITKAT TRANSPARENCY Javelin is the ONLY browser that makes full use of KitKat's transparent status and navigation bars so you can view the entire website on your screen. Other Javelin features:
[*]1-touch navigation gestures
[*]Built-in VPN
[*]Uses AOSP WebView
[*]Reading mode

Has anybody been able to import bookmarks from your other browser(s) into javelin?
I really don't feel like creating them all over again
Mr Javelin, (lol)
@javelinbrowser
My only annoyance with the browser is when backing up or pressing x on the open tab, please make it go back to the home page rather than this black screen only to have to make it load the home screen again because there's nothing else you can do from there
I've just noticed a fairly big issue for me: If I select "request desktop versions" of websites in the settings (by the way, please remove "update" from "update settings") my wireless provider instantly claims I am using my phone as a hotspot and disabled my data connection... is there an alternative desktop mode method that does not make my provider thing I'm tethering?
edit: didn't mean to quote there
edit 2: requesting desktop mode on a site-by-site basis (rather than blanket through settings) it still does it. Doing the same thing through Chrome for Android, however, loads the desktop version as normal without triggering the tether warning.
Suggests to me that the user agent string being used by Javelin for requesting desktop sites is different to that which Chrome uses... could this please be fixed to use the same as the Chrome for Android desktop mode?

Hey! Love this browser result... I have noticed one thing that I can't find a resolution for, if you're browsing a long page there's no quick way to scroll all the way to the top and the address bar doesn't seem to show up before that.
Other than that, it's awesome. just my feedback

Swipe down with 2 fingers and the tab window opens. Then you can double tap on the tab and it will scroll to the top of the page.

Let's hope in the next version of Android, Google will release a better WebView that will NOT be laggy. Hopefully one that use for Chrome.
Guys since the 4.4.3 update things on Javelin seem much faster for me. Not sure if placebo or not, can someone else confirm this?

Either it's placebo, cleaner cache, or the update included some performance tweaks to webview...
Really nice browser you created :good:
Faster than Firefox and Chrome and the features are cool. G+ community joined!
