It works fine, but it doesn't come with Google Play, Google Maps, Gmail, or any other kind of Google app. How do I get them?
Did u set a google account?
Google play doesn't work in China. China don't like Google. Just flash other firmware.

How do I do that?
Give this pre-rooted, original MDA version firmware a try. It comes fully equipped with all Samsung and Google bloatware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
Flash it using Odin 3.07 in download mode. Very simple!
I'll try it, thanks
It says it's for the GT-I9505, but mine is a GT-I9500, does it also work for my phone?

Nope, don`t flash it or you might brick your phone. Look in the I9500 (original) development section for assistence.
How do I root my phone? I tried it and it failed, now my phone is stuck in recovery mode

hello, this is the first time i am posting on the forum so i dont know if the post is in the right place. i have a samsung galaxy s4 i9500 from mauritius. but it is infact a 4-core phone, i guess they modified it for distribution here. i download the pre-rooted rom from djembey for i9505 and tried to flash my mobile. the problem is that it gets stuck. At first it got stuck several times on setup connection but now it gets stuck at cache.img.ext4 and the phone will not even turn on. it says firmware upgrade encountered an issue and asks to recover using kies. can anyone here please help. i tried with different versions of odin and even changed my usb cable and tried on different usb ports.
my phone variant is i9500XXUAMDE
I think you are using the wrong firmware. You ideally should use i9500 not i9505. Both are different. Try using pre rooted i9500 or download the stock from sammobile and try flashing using odin

If you have an i9500 phone you should flash a i9500 firmware.
It's not that hard really.
I recently bought factory unlocked GT-I9505. It's suppose to be an international version, tho for some reason it has Islamic holidays on the calendar which I cannot remove, ie Ramadan. I have an option to change it on the S Planner setting but it wont let me remove it. My question is how to remove it, and generally how to make my phone set for a different region?
Will reset to factory setting help?
Should I upload different firmware?
I've added screen shots of the calendar setting and my firmware version.

For starters it is an international model with region specific firmware. Most likely Middle East. Easiest solution would be to flash a firmware for your region or a generic one in odin.

This worked on my G900FD: (UAE-LRX21T.G900FDXXS1BPC3)
1) Flashed stock Russian firmware with Odin
2) Factory reset
3) Flashed original UAE firmware using Smart Switch and phone serial number
No root required. Only stock firmware. No risk for Knox.
If any G900FD owner would like to try this, please let me know if this is working on other phones.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477 follow the instructions here ... if u need to download odin google odin 3.07
Hello,
I have been trying to figure out a few things with the S4 and read a lot of stuff but I have a few unanswered question.
I come from using NExus phones since Nexus 1. Unlock Phone, install CWM and then use it to flash roms or rooting scripts.
Now, I have S4. I am still with their STOCK on I337M (Canadian Model) and I rooted using CF-Auto-Root and ODIN.
What I don't understand, is:
- Can I flash CWM and then just use CWM and SuperSU-vx.xx.zip to root? Why Use Odin?
- Now that I am rooted, if I new SAMSUNG firmware comes along, I am assuming it will fail, I will have to unroot and then apply firmware and then root again? How do I unroot? "Full Unroot" from the option in the app just like the Nexus phones?
- S4 has a counter from what I read, but lot's of warning about bricking phone is that only active on Samsung stock? What if I flash a google stock?
- Can I just use Rom Manager Pro as I used to with Nexus devices...
if I flash CWM, is it replacing ODIN? Is odin a recovery like Odin! If anyone can point out and explain the difference between CWM , ODIN, Nexus phones and S4 it would be great...
I know that now when I go to download mode (Is that like fastboot?) it shows binary as being custom, but I don't get a yellow triangle when I boot...
Thanks for any info regarding explaining what ODIN is...
I also noticed although I have 16GB phone, 6.38GB is system! That is huge! Is that normal?
There are some nice features that I would not like to lose, so I stuck with samsung and just use NOVA home screen...
This is actually the "ATT Galaxy S4Active" forum. S4 forum will have answers to all your S4 questions.

I just went through the un root because I was only using it for one thing. I ended up flashing the original ROM using Odin then doing a factory reset and cache wipe. Now waiting for the update not sure I will root until S4 is not longer updated by Samsung.

Hi,
Look HERE
OTA will remove root, and the latest will lock down your bootloader.
Hi
I have AMG1... I think this is the latest one but I was able to root.. Will locking boot loader prevent rooting.. Could it be another one for at only?
Thanks
Note: yes. I did notice chainfires note.. But he doesn't say what load is the latest.. There are so many Samsung s4 models devices.. Each with different models its so confusing

I just installed CWM on latest version of Canadian I337M AMG1... Its good so far.
Xda modder.. There are differences between i337 att and Canadian i337m.. No forum specific to the Canadian folks?
Thanks...

My note 3 is running the belgian 4.4.2 I downloaded from Sam mobile and flashed with odin, though the phone says it is a custom rom and when I click check for updates it also says phone is modified.
Anyone know what the problem is here and how I can restore ota updates?
The phone was rooted when i was on 4.3 but I have flashed first the Polish and then the Belgian 4.4s via odin

You can't go back to JB from KK... You may as well have said to connect to Kies and let that fix it...
To the Op, check if your Knox warranty void has been tripped, if it has you may as well root and install a custom rom and/or recovery, or at the very least xposed framework.
You can't reset theKnox but you can use a mod to trick the system into thinking its official which will allow OTA updates. You may need a couple of things to be active so the OTA will install but I'll let you look that up.

Used to read about a bug on samsung phones where if it contains too many files it would show system status as modified. Try transfer as much as your files from phone memory into sdcard then remove it. Then check again system status. It sounds crazy but i'm pretty sure that's my understanding from the thread

Strange, when flashing back to complete stock everything goes back to official (bar knox of course) - did you try the xeo? It's possible if you've used another firmware (carrier or country) the device may not like it.
Also a complete wipe may help too.
