Hey everyone, I just want to get some quick advice. Did anyone feel it necessary to unlock and root when using the nexus 7 or is it awesome enough already? Thanks, I can't wait to get a hold of this!
Edit**
Also if there are any recommended accessories.

Better to unlock the bootloader when you first get it rather then having it wipe your device in the future.

I agree with the other poster, might as well unlock the bootloader in case you decide to root, I run stock + rooted for my sixaxis controller, but stock is awesome otherwise! Welcome to the fold!

Official source code not available for download yet. But found a not yet modded ROM in the One (M7) forum that is extremely stock like so now real work could start You can download it here
Just stumbled across this
I believe that it would only be possible by using cm10.1 base and a ROM off a phone with the same hardware *coughHTCBUTTERFLYcough*. That is my insight

Why did you dig up an old thread and not only do you need a similar hardware but you also need proprietary drivers made by HTC for sense *coughSOURCENOTRELEASEDcough*

Not a good idea. You will easily run out of storage.

It's not an issue of performance... it's an issue of 'storage'...
By your own admission, you have only an 8Gb box... each user you allot will require a chunk of that.
Just how thin can you slice an 8Gb pie ? For sufficient to go around ?
(This metaphor would be more apropos., if we were already running Key Lime Pie)... LOL & .

Have you updated the SDK files?
In command prompt with your phone connected, type the following:
adb kill server
adb start server
That should work.
Make sure USB debugging is turned on in developer options.

theres a tutortial for the drivers when you install that , if you havnt solved your adb driver problem yet. you can even see in the screenshot on that link , it says "Full Driver Installation Guide - Automatic + Manual"
i used that to unlock and root my nexus , its a really nice GUI , made messing with this phone that much easier , most of the work is done for you

You are giving up too fast. As Bob Marley said... "Get up, stand up, Stand up for your rights. Get up, stand up, Don't give up the fight." Follow the post above me.
If you've got the bootloader unlocked and CWM installed, then whats the issue? Flash away.
Hey, haven't really posted here before and sorry for asking a question that's probably been asked a million times, but I've just had an information overload today.
I rooted my Nexus 10 today using the CF Auto Root, which also unlocked my bootloader. I won't really be tampering with much on the device as the main reason I wanted to do it is to use my PS3 controller to play games. My question is, what do I need to do with my device still to ensure it doesn't encounter any difficulties with the root?
Sorry again for the basic question, and thanks in advance!

No it's all fine. And since it is a Nexus it's unbrickable.. Or you have to do something really stupid.. You can fix it almost always.

Just updated to 4.4.2 from a rooted 4.2.2 and lost root when I accepted the OTA update.
Being new to android I am wondering how long it typically take for a new root to be released?
I moved to android from iPhone because I was tired of waiting months for a jailbreak every time an updated ios was released.
Depends on how difficult lg made the firmware to root

Who? Me? You know what kingoapp is, right? Its a root everything program, I asked them when they will update it to include rooting our phones with KK. Soon as I hear back you will have your date.
Sorry, no not you. It was meant for gunnyman.
Being a newbie I'm just wondering typically how long it takes to get a working root after an update. I don't expect anyone to be able to tell me the exact date when a root program will be available for the G2 on kit Kat.

There's honestly no way of telling how long. Seriously... it can be a few days or even months. It all depends how long it takes to figure out.
Your best bet is to check the xda LG G2 forum for your specific carrier. Check it daily and someone will post about the progress. But don't post on the forum yourself.

There IS no typical it's not like there's a timer or anything. The HTC One X on At&T went 6 MONTHS without Root.
Root will happen when it happens or maybe not at all.
Kingoapp wrote me back, this is what they said:
As to 4.4 firmware, the known root methods are all via flashing custom recovery, which requires a lot manual operations and involves huge risks. So, I am sorry, it is not supported.
So it looks like a no go there....

You should not be commenting if you don't understand the process and efforts needed to figure it out, you can throw all the ROM cooks at it you want, will still take however long it will take to figure out, so sit down, chill the F out and wait, or learn Android ROM cooking and do it yourself, you aren't going to rush those that are doing this on their own time for free
