New Nexus 7 build quality issues. - Nexus 7 (2013) General

2 nexus 7s that I recently purchased seem to have build quality issues. On the first one, the nexus branding started peeling off with light use. On the my main one, the plastic housing looks like it is starting to warp and keeps coming unclipped on the right side. Is anyone else having these issues?

[Poll] 10.1 Retail Build quality survey, please participate ...

Dear Galaxy Tab 10.1 (RETAIL) owners,
Please if you can participate on this survey.
Retail means the one you bought at NY June 8th and/or after June 17th.
If you have exchanged one, let us know what was the problem?
Hardware issue like screen bleed, cracking speaker noise, wi-fi issue, etc ...
Or probably functionality issue like bricked, boot loop, etc ...
With this poll, we could get a rough picture about how well the manufacture / production of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Retail version), Samsung QA, those kind of things.
None of the reported issues here.
Hi, thanks for your input.
Please if you can vote in the poll.
The poll options was created a bit late

I've gone through a looooot of Android devices lately and I can honestly say this is the first one I have not had to exchange. I'm very impressed with Samsung.
Mine is perfect. I am impressed.
Exchanged mine 3 times.
First unit bought on June 15th in NYC had an "oil spill" effect under the screen in one spot.
Second unit - display light bleed in the lower left corner.
Third unit - dead pixel.
Last unit seems to be ok.
I had the "oil slick" issue under the glass...my new one is on the way so I'll respond to the poll when it gets here.
I had to return my first one because one of the edges was rough to where it seemed as if the paint quality was bad. My second one is perfect though!
Lol... the results from this poll is an exact reciprocal of the Asus Transformer polls.
I will be exchanging mine today. there is a bulge on the back where it looks like they forced the cover onto the device with a loose screw or worse a broken component.
Mmm ... I dont understand what you mean

Can you guys please explain how you found these issues I think we all want to check ours throughout. To find oil under the screen was the display off in order to see? Back light bleeding can you just check by pulling up a black image and making sure nothing is bleeding through?
So far mine is perfect I haven't noticed anyrhing!
Returned my first one. Was having lots of wifi problems. Got a second one and about 75% of the wifi problems are gone now and I think the other 25% of my wifi problems could just be crappy apps (Pandora and TuneIn Pro seem to really suck on my tablet).
I think I got a good tablet this time. But Android 3.x and app bugs don't make it easy to be sure. Haha.
So far, so good
Received mine on the 20th. It's a little early to make a judgment with a high degree of confidence, but no issues to date. Clean unit here.
I just got mine today, so im still checking everything out, but no issues so far. Exterior build quality looks good and no real software problems (had minor issue connecting to my wifi, but a modem/router reset fixed it).

Exchanged mine twice.
First had light bleed. Second had screen separation. Hopefully the 3rd time is the charm.
I had the IO version and it felt cheaper and plasticky but this one is sturdier. This device has an even ring around it whereas the IO devices were thrown together test manufacturing models. No issues here.
I noticed the back of the tablet below the camera can be flexed in some. Not a big deal, but it felt kind of odd.
I was at the launch (of s2).here in dubai - about 2 devices had oil spill (mind you'll this was a demo unit - one was a 8.9 and other was 10.1)
I'm having double mind of shipping it in - i'll pick it when it's locally available

There's really no need for this as there's hundreds of threads describing cases in detail both pro's and cons. You should read through them and decide for yourself for 2 reasons.
1.) Everyone is different. A case that I love might be ugly and uncomfortable to you
2.) Reduce wasteful posts that could be avoided.
Nexus 4
ATT Straight Talk $45/mo
running xylon nightlies 4.2.2 franco r83

Kindly suggest me if you can
The official LG Bumper works great. Since that's out of stock you can buy the replicas which are just as good. As for screen protectors you can either use BestSkinsever for wet applicators or SGP for dry applicators.
Can't really help you on the BT side as I don't own one.

Come and see all issues I found in Nexus7, we'd better check if it's common !?

Recently I bought six Nexus7 for me and my pals.
All these tablets are inspected by me to make sure there is no bugs and bad pixels , and I found some issues randomly.
I am writing down these issues to discuss with you guys: is it commonly happened or accidental?
1,when charging with the cable, if your ear gets close to the back of nexus7, you can hear some currency noise?
2,knock the back slightly with your finger , then you may hear the sound like a loosened spring inside it , especially near the rear camera .
3,when launching the CAMERA and do the focusing, still there is noise from the rear camera , is it because there is some equipment working for focusing?
4, is it easy to get dust into the machine and the screen?!
IF you have similar issues, pls tell me !
thank u!

1. No
2. No
3. Not that I can hear
4. Only if you take the back off
None of these issues here.
Was there something wrong with the other issues threads you saw? Or you just thought yours were special?
I wonder how you discover these on yours - sounds like you were looking hard to find something wrong with these devices!
None of these issues here - I have a 16GB model.
I am usually really picky when it comes to products I purchase. But this makes even ME laugh a little bit. Sorry man but I don't think those are "issues". More than likely what you are hearing is the mechanism inside the camera moving around.

Ok folks, there are already several existing threads scattered in the forums discussing this exact same topic. Issues with the N7.
Use the search button, or browse the thread titles in General and Q & A and you'll find them. Please post your issues in there, and not create another new thread with the same old stuff. XDA rules ask you to search first before posting new threads. Why? Because it makes for more accurate search results by keeping the amount of threads to a minimum.
As for this one....

Have Their Been Revisions?

I know it came out recently, but have there been any hardware revisions at all? I owned part of the first batch and promptly returned due to it just feeling cheap and my AUX cable basically falling out whenever I'd plug it in.
Anyone order recently that has a newer build date and not having any hardware issues? I'm thinking of coming back to this.
Come back next December.

haha, no I don't think it will take that long.
I came from the Nexus 6, then go the 6p but returned it and got a Note 5. I didn't like the Note 5 due to TW and lack of development so I came back to my Nexus 6.
Sold my Nexus6 because I like this Nexus6P so much. No issues so far!

I received mine about a week ago. I don't have hardware issues. Nothing about the device feels cheap to me, perhaps #bendgate and other build quality headlines got inside of your head a bit?

I must agree that most of the issues that people are worried about is only affecting a very small portion of phones. Being an XDA member doesn't help either, since we are an extremely vocal minority. The general public simply wouldn't even notice "screen tinting" or "inconsistency of doze," etc. We just happen to surround ourselves with picky, vocal people here. Gotta look at the big picture

If you check the history it's always same people that complain or are worried about quality. You will find these guys in the LG G4 threads, Galaxy S6, Note 5 and now Nexus 6P. Nothing bad about being cautious, but it's a damn phone, just pull the trigger and enjoy. Afterall nothing built from factory is 100% perfect.
My screen was perfect, buttons colicky and body was dent or ding free. The only.issue was a loose aux port. It just felt too delicate, I don't know how to explain.
I'll probably pull the trigger again after the new year and see how the graphite coating holds up.
Haven't read about any changes to the design like they had with the grills on the N5.

I just meant revision like "hey we built this wrong, let's touch it up"... Not anything like a design change or something major like that.
I remember with the Nexus 4, having a glass back, people were cracking it when laying it down; so google had LG put " nipples" on the bottom corners of the device so it wouldn't lay flat. They didn't acknowledge this change, but one month it was flat and the next it had teeny tiny bumps.
I don't think Google cares much about their customers to revise this phone. The Nexus fanboys are eating it up candy.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. I'm sure either Huawei or Google will have a revision in the coming months, though most likely nothing major.
Even if they made a revision, they wouldn't announce it. Doing so would cause an uproar from early adopters. We would have to depend on another tear down in the coming months to see if anything changes

Camera visor consernes

Hi all,
I'm thinking about upgrading to the nexus 6p but I am a little bit concerned about the spontaneous cracking of the camera glass cover, is a there way to avoid the faulty devices?
By picking one device of the latest batches maybe?
Thanks in advance.
All around the world, there are less than 10 cases reported of spontaneous cracking... Don't worry about it, you have a lot more chance to die in a car accident.
I had no idea this was a thing.
It seems the Nexus 4 had the same issue but was said to have gotten a revised model with "nubs" lifting the back of the phone off any surface ever so slightly. I would imagine that you could simulate that effect with a case on your 6P. Maybe? I have a 6P with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid case. I've had my phone now for not even a month. No cracks on mine so far. That visor never comes close to a surface with a drastic temperature change. Reference this article to understand what I'm talking about.

Thx for the answers, I'm saying that because a friend of mine just bought it and returned it a week later because of the spontaneous thing.
